• RESTful Java on Steroids (Parleys, Podcast, ...)

  As reported previously here, the JAX-RS 2.0 (JSR 339) expert group is making good progress. If you're interested in what the future holds for RESTful Java web services, you can now watch Marek's Devoxx presentation or listen to him in the latest Java Spotlight Podcast (#74). Marek discusses the new client API, filters/handlers, BeanValidation integration, Hypermedia support (HATEOAS), server-side async processing and more. With JSR 339's Early Draft Review 2 currently out, another draft review is planned for April, the public review should be available in June while the final draft is currently scheduled for the end of the summer. In short, expect completion sometime before the end of 2012.

• Podcast: Dell Perot Systems Relies on Oracle In-Memory Database Cache

  Recently we spoke with Bill Binko, Technology Consultant at Dell Perot Systems, about a high volume web-based content delivery system they implemented for a client with Oracle In-Memory Database Cache. Their client needed to respond to ~1 billion hits (web requests) per day, but hadn't been able to support this load. Oracle In-Memory Database Cache allowed for multiple & complicated queries to take place without ever hitting the disk...providing sub-millisecond response time and ability to manage much higher high volumes of data. Old System: Old SQL Server Database, over 300 servers, difficult to maintain. New System: One Oracle Database 11g instance, multiple Oracle RAC nodes, backed up by Oracle Data Guard, and Oracle In-Memory Database Cache to cut query response times by 10x. • Prototype hide/show

  Hi, I am a Javascript/jQuery/Prototype newcomer and I have a page that has a Prototype function to get info from a database and put it into some input fields. This was made before I came to work on this site and now I've been asked to add a hide/show div function. I tried it in jQuery and there were clashes with the two frameworks, (as found in my previous question). My question now is, how would I go about building a show/hide function in Prototype? I think it will be easier to do it this way than to re-build the info grabber. The page I want to add this to is here. (the green "ny kunde" button should show the div directly below it newCustomer. • How do you create a mailing list with Lotus Notes?

  I have a list of users of an application stored in an SQL database. I'd like to be able to email these people with useful information. Two parts to the question. How do I send queries to an SQL database from Lotus Notes (v6.5.5), in order to retrieve the email addresses? (I'm okay with what the contents of the query should be, I just need to know how to get Notes talking to the database.) How do I programmatically store these addresses as a group contact?

  Possible Duplicate: How do I change the Respond To for Group Email adresses in Notes 6.5 When I send an email from a group mail box the email shows my email address as the sender. I would like to hide my email and only show my name. I am using Notes 6.5. Could you please advise if there is a way to set up my client to do this. I want this so the receiver responds to the group email not my personal email as it may be that I am not the one to do the fillow up to the response. There are 10 people in the group email.

• Access synced notes from iPhone on Windows other than through Mail/Outlook?

  I see from the iPhone how to page that synced notes on Windows appear in MS Mail or Outlook/Outlook Express. I don't use any of these programs. Can I access the iPhone notes some other way? I don't see indication on Apple's site that such a thing is possible. I would like to do this without a 3rd party iPhone application, and I'd really like to avoid MS Mail/Outlook. For what it's worth, this is for my wife and she's using Windows. I sync my iPhone with a Mac. She's loathe to use a bunch of different programs.

• hypertext for research notes [closed]

  I keep lots of notes as I work - code snippets, TODO lists, account details, links, comments. I currently use plain text files for this - very simple and robust but a bit last-century. I would like features similar to HTML - e.g. to embed pictures, formatting, and crucially hyperlinks within my notes. One particular use-case is an implementation of Getting Things Done - more or less, a collection of hierarchical TODO lists, which I'd implement with hyperlinks between tasks. Most WYSIWYG HTML editors seem to be aimed at web designers, creating beautiful pages for professional websites. Is there a simple tool / editor more appropriate for how I want to use it? (or advice from anyone doing the same)

I need to have only one link depending on state. So if the div basic is shown as default the link will say show advanced. When the advanced is shown the anchor link should switch to hide advanced How do I need to edit my jQuery and mark up.

  In my class, Main extends Activity, I've this: @Override protected void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) { super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data); switch (requestCode) { case ... case CREDENTIAL_VIEW: new SetStatusProgressBar(this).execute(); And there is this nested class: private class SetStatusProgressBar extends AsyncTask<String, Void, Boolean> { private ProgressDialog dialog; private Main ctx; public SetStatusProgressBar(Main ctx) { this.ctx = ctx; dialog = new ProgressDialog(ctx); } // progress dialog to show user that contacting server. protected void onPreExecute() { this.dialog = ProgressDialog.show(ctx, null, "Refreshing data from server...", true, false); } @Override protected void onPostExecute(final Boolean success) { //... //statements that refresh UI //... if (dialog.isShowing()) { dialog.dismiss(); timerProgressBarStop(); } } protected Boolean doInBackground(final String... args) { //... //statements to download data from server //... return true; } } In the Main class I open a second Activity, in this way: Intent myIntent = new Intent(Main.this, Credentials.class); startActivityForResult(myIntent, CREDENTIAL_VIEW); That second Activity returns to the Main activity in this way: Intent intent = new Intent(); setResult(RESULT_OK, intent); finish(); I don't understand why when I navigate from the second Activity to the Main, the ProgressDialog will show ONLY AFTER that the UI refreshes... In this way the Progress Dialog stays on the screen only for half second... and then hides! :( I'd like to see the ProgressDialog on top during all the download time! Help, please. Thank you all

• Simple show/hide jQuery troubles

  Okay, I feel like a bit of a 800 pound gorilla trying to thread a needle when it comes to jQuery. I need a script that will preform a simple show/hide (preferably with a nice sliding in and out) on a list. Ideally when the li they are nested within ("li.tier_1") is clicked it's child ul will have the hide class removed and the li's contained within will slideout, but at the same time should check all the other ul.tier_2's and be sure they get a hide class--so only one theme can be expanded at a time. But I based it off another script and it does work "a little bit" as you can see in the sandbox. If one of you mean hands at jQuery might be so inclined to take a peek I'd be very grateful. If you could also advise on how to have the transitions slideIn and Out that would also be fantastic!

• Application Compatibility Clients do not show in MSSQL database, but do show in \AppCompat\

  Application Compatibility Clients are not denied access to the central MSSQL database, but are able to leave their own files in the \AppCompat\ share. The only computer that shows up in the "Microsoft Application Compatibility Manager" database is the the machine i initially created the .MSI installer from. The MSI successfullly pushed out via GPO and like i said there are tons of file in the \AppCompat\ share from many different computers. But only 1 pc shows up in the "Data Collection Manager" database, so i only have data from one machine. i could manually add all these machines (ADNETBIOSNAME\MACHINENAME221$) to the MSSQL AppCompat db permissions list or use an SQL command to do so in batch, but i suspect i must have missed something. Do you manually edit the MSI to set the credentials?

• Jquery radio button show and hide divs

  My html and jquery code here. The jquery code performs if value ending with 123 a specify div will show. But i got a problem here. After i clicked on value c123 and d123 and switch back to a and b radio buttons. The showed div will not disappear.
