  • Proxy Server suggestions

    - by Jon Menefee
Here is the question I have that hopefully is not too general of a question. I have a network with approximately 25 PC's, 3 servers and 25 IP cameras. I have a firewall already on the network and it works fine for what I need, but my client is asking me if there is a way to put a Proxy server on the network to monitor where his employees are going when they surf the Internet. He is not wanting to block them (at least not thru the Proxy server), but he wants to make sure that they arent going to sites that would compromise the networked PCs. I have looked at TMG and it is a little more than what I want. I hesitate adding another firewall to the system because of the security cameras that are presently on the network (IP Cameras). I just want to put a policy in AD that would make certain Users (or Computers) use a Proxy server. Any suggestions on a good proxy server are welcome. Thank you

  • proxy server software for windows xp

    - by This is it
Hi Is there a proxy software for Windows XP that can support HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, IMAP, POP, FTP, etc. (the more the better)? We tried apache mod_proxy but FTP doesn't work through it (at least not all features). Maybe we don't need proxy server for following requirements (we are open for suggestions): - Centralized access point to internet for several users (proxy server?) - Users use Browser (firefox/IE - HTTP, HTTPS), Outlook (SMTP, POP, IMAP) - Logs to see where did users go on internet - Possiblity to connect to FTP server Windows xp, which is used as proxy server, is a virtual machine, and all other users/clients are virtual machines as well (Hyper-V)... Thanks for suggestions. Cheers

  • Make my web-server traffic go through proxy?

    - by Eli
I have a question that may or may not be possible. Basically Comcast isn't going to let me host a website on their ISP unless I have a business account. So, I spoke with my uncle who is big into networking and he told me to host my website through a proxy so Comcast cannot associate the website IP with my IP. I have purchases a proxy from proxy-hub.com, but I cannot seem to figure out what to do next. I may be approaching this totally wrong and I may need to create my own proxy server. Anybody have a clue? Thanks.

  • How to secure Firefox traffic (+DNS) through SOCKS proxy under Ubuntu 10.04?

    - by Maarx
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04, and starting a SOCKS proxy with 'ssh -D', and setting Ubuntu to use it with "System - Preferences - Network Proxy". Firefox uses the proxy, and the proxy's IP appears when I visit a site like http://www.whatismyip.com/. My question is, is Firefox resolving DNS requests through this proxy? Is my web-browsing truly secure? (That is, until I exit the other end of the proxy. I know it's insecure after that.) (And I've verified the keys, I'm not being man-in-the-middled) (And--screw it. You know what I mean. Is it resolving DNS requests through the proxy?) I don't know how I would go about verifying such a thing for myself. Using additional hardware such as another debugging proxy is not an option. If Firefox isn't resolving my DNS requests through the SOCKS proxy, how do I go about fixing it?

  • Programmatically Set Proxy Address, Port, User, Password throught Windows Registry

    - by Fábio Antunes
I'm writing a small C# application that will use Internet Explorer to interact with a couple a websites, with help from WatiN. However, it will also require from time to time to use a proxy. I've came across Programmatically Set Browser Proxy Settings in C#, but this only enables me to enter a proxy address, and I also need to enter a Proxy username and password. How can I do that? Note: It doesn't matter if a solution changes the entire system Internet settings. However, I would prefer to change only IE proxy settings (for any connection). The solution has to work with IE8 and Windows XP SP3 or higher. I'd like to have the possibility to read the Proxy settings first, so that later I can undo my changes. EDIT With the help of the Windows Registry accessible through Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey, i was able to apply a proxy something like this: RegistryKey registry = Registry.CurrentUser.OpenSubKey("Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Internet Settings", true); registry.SetValue("ProxyEnable", 1); registry.SetValue("ProxyServer", "127.0.0.1:8080"); But how can i specify a username and a password to login at the proxy server? I also noticed that IE doesn't refresh the Proxy details for its connections once the registry was changed how can i order IE to refresh its connection settings from the registry? Thanks

  • use proxy in python to fetch a webpage

    - by carmao
I am trying to write a function in Python to use a public anonymous proxy and fetch a webpage, but I got a rather strange error. The code (I have Python 2.4): import urllib2 def get_source_html_proxy(url, pip, timeout): # timeout in seconds (maximum number of seconds willing for the code to wait in # case there is a proxy that is not working, then it gives up) proxy_handler = urllib2.ProxyHandler({'http': pip}) opener = urllib2.build_opener(proxy_handler) opener.addheaders = [('User-agent', 'Mozilla/5.0')] urllib2.install_opener(opener) req=urllib2.Request(url) sock=urllib2.urlopen(req) timp=0 # a counter that is going to measure the time until the result (webpage) is # returned while 1: data = sock.read(1024) timp=timp+1 if len(data) < 1024: break timpLimita=50000000 * timeout if timp==timpLimita: # 5 millions is about 1 second break if timp==timpLimita: print IPul + ": Connection is working, but the webpage is fetched in more than 50 seconds. • Rails' page caching vs. HTTP reverse proxy caches

    - by John Topley
I've been catching up with the Scaling Rails screencasts. In episode 11 which covers advanced HTTP caching (using reverse proxy caches such as Varnish and Squid etc.), they recommend only considering using a reverse proxy cache once you've already exhausted the possibilities of page, action and fragment caching within your Rails application (as well as memcached etc. but that's not relevant to this question). What I can't quite understand is how using an HTTP reverse proxy cache can provide a performance boost for an application that already uses page caching. To simplify matters, let's assume that I'm talking about a single host here. This is my understanding of how both techniques work (maybe I'm wrong): With page caching the Rails process is hit initially and then generates a static HTML file that is served directly by the Web server for subsequent requests, for as long as the cache for that request is valid. If the cache has expired then Rails is hit again and the static file is regenerated with the updated content ready for the next request With an HTTP reverse proxy cache the Rails process is hit when the proxy needs to determine whether the content is stale or not. This is done using various HTTP headers such as ETag, Last-Modified etc. If the content is fresh then Rails responds to the proxy with an HTTP 304 Not Modified and the proxy serves its cached content to the browser, or even better, responds with its own HTTP 304. If the content is stale then Rails serves the updated content to the proxy which caches it and then serves it to the browser If my understanding is correct, then doesn't page caching result in less hits to the Rails process? There isn't all that back and forth to determine if the content is stale, meaning better performance than reverse proxy caching. Why might you use both techniques in conjunction?

  • Firefox proxy dilemma

    - by Mike L.
Any idea why when using system proxy settings in firefox, it can not accept a proxy such as: user:[email protected]:port ??? IE will allow and connect to a proxy in this format. Not only does firefox not work, but it does not prompt for the password, nor attempt to make a connection to the proxy. Basically get a "proxy server not found" error. Anybody know a way around this? I am working on a proxy switching program for IE & Firefox, and I would like to use system-wide proxy settings. If I just store the server:port combination, firefox prompts for the password, as well as IE. Then they can be cached and it will not ask again. Maybe my only option is to programmatically cache the user/pass? Anybody know a way to do this? I am pretty sure IE stores them at HTTP basic authentication passwords and I can add them with AddCredential. After saving a password for a proxy in firefox, it shows up in saved passwords in a format like "moz-proxy://server:port" anybody know how to programmatically add a saved password to firefox? Thanks

  • W2k8 RC1: Windows Media Servers (WMS) as proxy

    - by da_didi
I will have one streaming-server (W2k8, unknown streaming protocol [rtsp, mss, http]) and half dozen streaming-servers as proxies to save bandwidth. I have read the documentation and installed the modules, but I am unsure how I have to configure the proxy's according to http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/ee126142(en-us,WS.10).aspx - as a proxy or reverse proxy and how I minimize the bandwidth needs between origin server and proxy's. What is the best way to realize my setup? Any short how-tos? How can I announce all players to use the proxy? Route all rtsp/mms/http-requests through my proxy? Announce the proxy with DHCP-releases? Thanks!

  • How to create a anonymous proxy?

    - by Rakesh Juyal
I want to create a proxy server anonymous proxy . I googled it and even found some tutorial but those were in PHP. If somebody is having tutorial of proxy server anonymous proxy creation in java then please post it here Or simply let me know what approach should i follow to create a proxy server anonymous proxy. [ i will be using Tomcat { if that matters for your answer } ] Thanks Edit i guess i was not clear in stating what i require. Actually i am trying to develop a site like 'http://proxyug.com/' . If none of you were getting what i asked, then it certainly means such sites are not known as 'proxy server' they must be called something else. :)

  • What command should be used to connect via SSH through squid proxy?

    - by Raul Cardoso
I have set up a Squid HTTP Proxy (in centOS) and intended to use it also for ssh connections. Managed to configure putty (in a windows client) to use this proxy while connecting by ssh. Confirmed in the "target host" that the ssh connection was coming from Proxy server ip instead of the windows client IP. Used: targethost: 22 for ssh proxyserv: 3128 for proxy (along with proxy credentials) I'm now having problems connecting to the "target host" using Ubuntu and the same proxy server. I have tried the following: me@mycomp:~$ connect-proxy -H test@proxyserv:3128 targethost 22 Enter proxy authentication password for test@proxyserv: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_6.2p2 Ubuntu-6 It hangs in last line, expecting some input. All attempts resulted in a "Protocol mismatch." error. Putty successfully connects to the http proxy and sends credentials, showing me ssh login right away. - How to do (with commands in Ubuntu) the same putty does? - Is there any other way than connect-proxy command to do this? Edit: Also tried the following with same result ("Protocol mismatch") me@mycomp:~$ connect-proxy -H test@proxyserv:3128 targethost 22 ssh -l myshel_login Thanks in advance Edit: Solution details (thanks to NickW pointing the right way) installed corkscrew and added to ssh_config Host targethost ProxyCommand corkscrew proxyserv 3128 %h %p /etc/ssh/proxypass created proxypass file login:password Restarted ssh and used a simple ssh command ssh mylogin@targethost (ssh password was asked as usual)

  • Firewall issue with multiple SIP PROXY / REGISTRAR servers

    - by MikeBrom
Hi We have a pair of Internet-facing SIP PROXY/REGISTRAR servers (for resilienced and load-balancing). When a SIP phone registers, it will be handled by one of the REGISTRAR servers (round-robin DNS) - and since this registration is renewed, the firewall port/address translation is maintained. Therefore, when a call is to be sent back to the phone the INVITE message passes successfully through the firewall. However, it is likely that the phone may register with one of the two servers, but the INVITE may come from the other. In this situation, the call fails since there is no translation in place on the firewall. Is there a feature in the SIP protocol to facilitate this? Any other ideas? As our traffic grows, we will no doubt end-up with more than two servers - so the problem will escalate. Thanks, Mike

  • Squid reverse proxy array - siblings not communicating with each other

    - by V. Romanov
I want to set up 2 squid servers to act as reverse proxy and cache for a webserver on our intranet. The load balancing will be done with DNS round robin or just different mappings for different clients. The thing is, I want both servers to try and contact each other to see if they have the object required in cache before contacting the webserver for it (the network that servers the webserver is the bottleneck and I'm trying to eliminate it) Both squids are configured the same, here are the relevant config lines : acl dvr1_cache_it_best_tv_com dstdomain dvr1.cache.it.best-tv.com acl squid1_it_best_tv_com dstdomain squid1.it.best-tv.com acl squid2_it_best_tv_com dstdomain squid2.it.best-tv.com http_access allow dvr1_cache_it_best_tv_com http_access allow squid1_it_best_tv_com http_access allow squid2_it_best_tv_com http_access allow all http_port 8081 accel defaultsite=dvr1.cache.it.best-tv.com cache_peer dvr1.origin.it.best-tv.com parent 80 0 no-query originserver name=Proxy_dvr1_origin_it_best_tv_com cache_peer squid1.it.best-tv.com sibling 8081 3130 weight=10 name=Proxy_Squid1_it_best_tv_com cache_peer squid2.it.best-tv.com sibling 8081 3130 weight=10 name=Proxy_Squid2_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_dvr1_origin_it_best_tv_com allow dvr1_cache_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_squid1_it_best_tv_com allow squid1_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_squid1_it_best_tv_com allow squid2_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_squid1_it_best_tv_com allow dvr1_cache_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_squid2_it_best_tv_com allow squid1_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_squid2_it_best_tv_com allow squid2_it_best_tv_com cache_peer_access Proxy_squid2_it_best_tv_com allow dvr1_cache_it_best_tv_com just to make it clear - dvr1.cache is the alias for the proxy servers. dvr1.origin is the web server. Both servers work, both serve content and cache it and work fine. However, when I clear the cache on one server and then access it, it gets the content from the parent (DVR1_ORIGIN) instead of going to the sibling squid. What did I configure wrong? Or perhaps I don't understand the architecture correctly? I read the squid manuals but as far as I see i did it all by the book and yet it doesn't work right. Any help will be appreciated!

  • Configure J2EE Agent with OpenAM behind Reverse Proxy

    - by Troy
I have a reverse proxy with two SSL enabled NamedVirtualHosts on different ports. Both containers on each internal host is GF 2.1.1. Proxy configuration as follows: Proxy URL -> Internal URL https://apps.mydomain.com -> http://apps.internal.com https://secure.otherdomain.com:8080/ -> http://secure.internal.com I initially tried configuring the J2EE agent in OpenAM and the web app container to use the internal URLs (I appended /openam and /agentapp respectively). However, I received the following errors when trying to access a secured application such as https://apps.mydomain.com/webapp. java.lang.RuntimeException: Failed to load configuration: ApplicationSSOTokenProvider.getApplicationSSOToken(): Unable to get Application SSO Token A second attempt gives the following error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class com.sun.identity.agents.filter.AmFilterManager Along with these in the agent debug.out: ERROR: Failed to obtain auth service url from server: null://null:null ... SiteMonitor: Site URL http://secure.internal.com/openam/namingservice is not available. If I specify the server and agent urls using the proxy urls, then the agent appears to be working and I am redirected to the OpenAM login page. However, the goto in the URL is http://apps.mydomain.com/webapp instead of https://apps.mydomain.com/webapp (missing https). So after authentication, the redirect fails. Now I could possibly get by with mod_rewrite, but it feels hackish and I really want to know what's going on. Any ideas?

  • Apache 2 proxy for Tomcat 7

    - by hsnm
Following the how-to, I wanted to make a proxy for traffic to the address /app to be processed by Tomcat 7. I added this to my httpd.conf: LoadModule proxy_module {path-to-modules}/mod_proxy.so LoadModule deflate_module modules/mod_deflate.so ProxyPass /app http://localhost:8081 ProxyPassReverse /app http://localhost:8081 I also have this on my server.xml: <Connector port="8081" enableLookups="false" acceptCount="100" connectionTimeout="20000" proxyName="localhost" proxyPort="80"/> And I have the folder /var/lib/tomcat7/webapps/app with my application files. I restarted both Tomcat 7 and Apache 2 after doing the configurations above. Problem: When navigating to my webpage.com/app, I get the error 500. I consulted apache logs, it says: [warn] proxy: No protocol handler was valid for the URL /app. If you are using a DSO version of mod_proxy, make sure the proxy submodules are included in the configuration using LoadModule. Update: This is running in ubuntu. I resolved this by adding LoadModule proxy_http_module modules/mod_proxy_http.so to my httpd.conf. Now I have another question: How can I make this proxy to work on SSL through port 443?

  • Reverse proxy apache to weblogic problem

    - by Zlatoroh
Hello I have apache 2.2 server and welogic 11g running on web server. Apache is set for revers proxy on port 8080, weblogic serves two web pages and it's on port :7001 first page: localhost:7001/e-SPP/app second page: localhost:7001/e-sprejem/app I would like to access this two pages with apache like so: localhost:8080/e-SPP/app localhost:8080/e-sprejem/app Listen 8080 ServerName localhost:8080 <Proxy *> Order deny, allow Allow from all </Proxy> ProxyRequests Off ProxyPreserveHost On RewriteEngine On <Location /e-SPP/app> ProxyPass localhost:7001/e-SPP/app ProxyPassReverse localhost:7001/e-SPP/app </Location> <Location /e-sprejem/app> ProxyPass localhost:7001/e-sprejem/app ProxyPassReverse localhost:7001/e-sprejem/app </Location> This configuration opens my pages bust it's black anw white because CSS and JS aren't loaded! Path to the css over proxy looks like this : localhost:8080/e-SPP/css/style.css which doesn't open the CSS if I change the port to 7001 the it works !!! localhost:7001/e-SPP/css/style.css What should I do that CSS and JS are loaded? Interesting is favicon which is being loaded http://localhost:8080/e-SPP/images/new/favicon.gif Thanks for your help!

  • Tracking IP through a socks5 proxy + RDP ?

    - by piro
Hi all. We were having some issues at work until we found that we are being attacked almost every day. The attacker seems pretty smart - at first he was always using proxy to hide his IP. With scanning I found that they were socks 5 proxy. The last week we had 11 attacks and every time i found the ip i scanned it with nmap. I found that ALL of the 11 different ip addresses were RDP (port 3389 open, and accept rdp connections, checked by myself on ALL of them). So here follow the questions: 1. Can we trace his real IP back through a socks5 proxy ? 2. Can we trace him if he is using some RDP server to hide his ip ? Please do not answer like "Call the owner of the proxy server/RDP..." etc. we already tried it and it didn't work, that's why I am writing here. Thank you very much.

  • Home-made HTTP proxy server [closed]

    - by Martin Dimitrov
I wanted to help a friend who has some restrictions at work to visit certain sites. Locally, on a Windows 7 machine, I run Apache server and decided to make it a proxy just for the IP of my friend. So I added the following to the configuration file: ProxyRequests On ProxyVia On <Proxy *> Order deny, allow Deny from all Allow from <his.ip> </Proxy> It worked fine. But shortly the proxy started to receive many requests of the form: 66.249.66.242 - - [22/Sep/2012:11:01:12 +0300] "GET /search?hl=en&lr=lang_en&as_qdr=all&ie=UTF-8&q=related:www.aarp.org/aarp-foundation/+allinurl:+foundation&tbo=1&sa=X&ei=BSy2T9L_L8PitQapwtHtBw&ved=0COQBEB8wPw HTTP/1.1" 403 208 66.249.71.36 - - [22/Sep/2012:11:01:49 +0300] "GET /search?hl=en&lr=lang_en&as_qdr=all&ie=UTF-8&q=related:www.aarp.org/aarp-foundation/+allinurl:+foundation&tbo=1&sa=X&ei=BOCzT-_WK8_0sgbki5XCDA&ved=0COABEB8wPg HTTP/1.1" 403 208 These are Google IPs. The requests are every 30 seconds or so. My friend is not at work today. In apache_error.log I see: [Sat Sep 22 11:09:20 2012] [error] [client 66.249.66.242] client denied by server configuration: C:/wamp/www/aclk [Sat Sep 22 11:09:47 2012] [error] [client 66.249.71.36] client denied by server configuration: C:/wamp/www/search What the hell is going on? • Internet compression proxy for low speed broadband?

    - by user23150
I live in a rural location, using high-latency wireless off a local ISP's tower. My speed tests vary day to day, but I can get around 1Mb up/down. The problem is, I work with large files, uploading and downloading (HD videos, development software, etc.). It can be painful to wait sometimes. Plus I do some side contract game development, and it can be very difficult to playtest with other developers (200ms ping is a good day for me). Now, obviously it's not going to be easy to solve the latency problem without different wireless hardware. But speedwise, I am wondering if I can use some kind of compression technology on a proxy. For instance, my work computer has full access to a 26Mb down, 10Mb up connection, that is totally unused at night and the weekends. If I could run some kind of compression technology on our server, and use it as a proxy to route to my home computer, I could stand to gain some major speed. I realize that by bogging down a system with compression, I could potentially lose whatever speed gain I had. But the proxy server is a quad core xeon, and the receiving computer is a pretty decent i7 computer, so that shouldn't be a concern. I found http://toonel.net/ but it seems more geared toward very slow narrowband users, like dial-up. Plus, I would prefer to just be able to point my browser to a proxy server, rather then install software on my client machine. EDIT I thought about my question a little more, and realize I am going to need to install software on my client in order to decompress, and possible compress (for uploading). That's not a huge deal.

  • Random servers in Citrix servers suddenly bluescreens (mostly 0x0000008e and 0x0000007e)

    - by Rasmus Rask
I'm responsible for a Citrix Presentation Server 4.5 farm. Starting Friday 30. November, my servers started to crash randomly. So far we've experienced 80 crashes, so it's obviously becoming an increasingly big problem for us. I have 12+ years experience with IT, so I know the difference between 0 and 1, but I have a hard time cracking this. We've rolled back any recent changes I can think of for different groups of servers, but all groups still seem to crash. I don't have the skills to interpret the memory dumps to find the culprit. Has anyone encountered the same or a similar problem? - might be a generic Windows issue Other than executing "analyze -v" in WinDbg, how do I work my way through the memory dumps to see what actually triggered the BSOD? Any suggested steps in getting to the bottom of this? Any help is greatly appreciated. I can also provide links to kernel memory dumps or WinDbg output if necessary. Thanks! Problem description The majority of the STOP errors we encounter are: 0x0000008e KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (50%) 0x0000007e SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (26%) 0x00000050 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (21%) We also see a few 0x0000000a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (3%). • A simple Dynamic Proxy

    - by Abhijeet Patel
Frameworks such as EF4 and MOQ do what most developers consider "dark magic". For instance in EF4, when you use a POCO for an entity you can opt-in to get behaviors such as "lazy-loading" and "change tracking" at runtime merely by ensuring that your type has the following characteristics: The class must be public and not sealed. The class must have a public or protected parameter-less constructor. The class must have public or protected properties Adhere to this and your type is magically endowed with these behaviors without any additional programming on your part. Behind the scenes the framework subclasses your type at runtime and creates a "dynamic proxy" which has these additional behaviors and when you navigate properties of your POCO, the framework replaces the POCO type with derived type instances. The MOQ framework does simlar magic. Let's say you have a simple interface:   public interface IFoo      {          int GetNum();      }   We can verify that the GetNum() was invoked on a mock like so:   var mock = new Mock<IFoo>(MockBehavior.Default);   mock.Setup(f => f.GetNum());   var num = mock.Object.GetNum();   mock.Verify(f => f.GetNum());   Beind the scenes the MOQ framework is generating a dynamic proxy by implementing IFoo at runtime. the call to moq.Object returns the dynamic proxy on which we then call "GetNum" and then verify that this method was invoked. No dark magic at all, just clever programming is what's going on here, just not visible and hence appears magical! Let's create a simple dynamic proxy generator which accepts an interface type and dynamically creates a proxy implementing the interface type specified at runtime.     public static class DynamicProxyGenerator   {       public static T GetInstanceFor<T>()       {           Type typeOfT = typeof(T);           var methodInfos = typeOfT.GetMethods();           AssemblyName assName = new AssemblyName("testAssembly");           var assBuilder = AppDomain.CurrentDomain.DefineDynamicAssembly(assName, AssemblyBuilderAccess.RunAndSave);           var moduleBuilder = assBuilder.DefineDynamicModule("testModule", "test.dll");           var typeBuilder = moduleBuilder.DefineType(typeOfT.Name + "Proxy", TypeAttributes.Public);              typeBuilder.AddInterfaceImplementation(typeOfT);           var ctorBuilder = typeBuilder.DefineConstructor(                     MethodAttributes.Public,                     CallingConventions.Standard,                     new Type[] { });           var ilGenerator = ctorBuilder.GetILGenerator();           ilGenerator.EmitWriteLine("Creating Proxy instance");           ilGenerator.Emit(OpCodes.Ret);           foreach (var methodInfo in methodInfos)           {               var methodBuilder = typeBuilder.DefineMethod(                   methodInfo.Name,                   MethodAttributes.Public | MethodAttributes.Virtual,                   methodInfo.ReturnType,                   methodInfo.GetParameters().Select(p => p.GetType()).ToArray()                   );               var methodILGen = methodBuilder.GetILGenerator();               methodILGen.EmitWriteLine("I'm a proxy");               if (methodInfo.ReturnType == typeof(void))               {                   methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Ret);               }               else               {                   if (methodInfo.ReturnType.IsValueType || methodInfo.ReturnType.IsEnum)                   {                       MethodInfo getMethod = typeof(Activator).GetMethod(/span>"CreateInstance",new Type[]{typeof((Type)});                                               LocalBuilder lb = methodILGen.DeclareLocal(methodInfo.ReturnType);                       methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Ldtoken, lb.LocalType);                       methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Call, typeofype).GetMethod("GetTypeFromHandle"));  ));                       methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Callvirt, getMethod);                       methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Unbox_Any, lb.LocalType);                                                              }                 else                   {                       methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Ldnull);                   }                   methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Ret);               }               typeBuilder.DefineMethodOverride(methodBuilder, methodInfo);           }                     Type constructedType = typeBuilder.CreateType();           var instance = Activator.CreateInstance(constructedType);           return (T)instance;       }   }   Dynamic proxies are created by calling into the following main types: AssemblyBuilder, TypeBuilder, Modulebuilder and ILGenerator. These types enable dynamically creating an assembly and emitting .NET modules and types in that assembly, all using IL instructions. Let's break down the code above a bit and examine it piece by piece                Type typeOfT = typeof(T);              var methodInfos = typeOfT.GetMethods();              AssemblyName assName = new AssemblyName("testAssembly");              var assBuilder = AppDomain.CurrentDomain.DefineDynamicAssembly(assName, AssemblyBuilderAccess.RunAndSave);              var moduleBuilder = assBuilder.DefineDynamicModule("testModule", "test.dll");              var typeBuilder = moduleBuilder.DefineType(typeOfT.Name + "Proxy", TypeAttributes.Public);   We are instructing the runtime to create an assembly caled "test.dll"and in this assembly we then emit a new module called "testModule". We then emit a new type definition of name "typeName"Proxy into this new module. This is the definition for the "dynamic proxy" for type T                 typeBuilder.AddInterfaceImplementation(typeOfT);               var ctorBuilder = typeBuilder.DefineConstructor(                         MethodAttributes.Public,                         CallingConventions.Standard,                         new Type[] { });               var ilGenerator = ctorBuilder.GetILGenerator();               ilGenerator.EmitWriteLine("Creating Proxy instance");               ilGenerator.Emit(OpCodes.Ret);   The newly created type implements type T and defines a default parameterless constructor in which we emit a call to Console.WriteLine. This call is not necessary but we do this so that we can see first hand that when the proxy is constructed, when our default constructor is invoked.   var methodBuilder = typeBuilder.DefineMethod(                      methodInfo.Name,                      MethodAttributes.Public | MethodAttributes.Virtual,                      methodInfo.ReturnType,                      methodInfo.GetParameters().Select(p => p.GetType()).ToArray()                      );   We then iterate over each method declared on type T and add a method definition of the same name into our "dynamic proxy" definition     if (methodInfo.ReturnType == typeof(void))   {       methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Ret);   }   If the return type specified in the method declaration of T is void we simply return.     if (methodInfo.ReturnType.IsValueType || methodInfo.ReturnType.IsEnum)   {                               MethodInfo getMethod = typeof(Activator).GetMethod("CreateInstance",                                                         new Type[]{typeof(Type)});                               LocalBuilder lb = methodILGen.DeclareLocal(methodInfo.ReturnType);                                                     methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Ldtoken, lb.LocalType);       methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Call, typeof(Type).GetMethod("GetTypeFromHandle"));       methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Callvirt, getMethod);       methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Unbox_Any, lb.LocalType);   }   If the return type in the method declaration of T is either a value type or an enum, then we need to create an instance of the value type and return that instance the caller. In order to accomplish that we need to do the following: 1) Get a handle to the Activator.CreateInstance method 2) Declare a local variable which represents the Type of the return type(i.e the type object of the return type) specified on the method declaration of T(obtained from the MethodInfo) and push this Type object onto the evaluation stack. In reality a RuntimeTypeHandle is what is pushed onto the stack. 3) Invoke the "GetTypeFromHandle" method(a static method in the Type class) passing in the RuntimeTypeHandle pushed onto the stack previously as an argument, the result of this invocation is a Type object (representing the method's return type) which is pushed onto the top of the evaluation stack. 4) Invoke Activator.CreateInstance passing in the Type object from step 3, the result of this invocation is an instance of the value type boxed as a reference type and pushed onto the top of the evaluation stack. 5) Unbox the result and place it into the local variable of the return type defined in step 2   methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Ldnull);   If the return type is a reference type then we just load a null onto the evaluation stack   methodILGen.Emit(OpCodes.Ret);   Emit a a return statement to return whatever is on top of the evaluation stack(null or an instance of a value type) back to the caller     Type constructedType = typeBuilder.CreateType();   var instance = Activator.CreateInstance(constructedType);   return (T)instance;   Now that we have a definition of the "dynamic proxy" implementing all the methods declared on T, we can now create an instance of the proxy type and return that out typed as T. The caller can now invoke the generator and request a dynamic proxy for any type T. In our example when the client invokes GetNum() we get back "0". Lets add a new method on the interface called DayOfWeek GetDay()   public interface IFoo      {          int GetNum();          DayOfWeek GetDay();      }   When GetDay() is invoked, the "dynamic proxy" returns "Sunday" since that is the default value for the DayOfWeek enum This is a very trivial example of dynammic proxies, frameworks like MOQ have a way more sophisticated implementation of this paradigm where in you can instruct the framework to create proxies which return specified values for a method implementation.

  • Jboss unreachable/ slow behind apache with ajp

    - by Niels
I have an linux server running with a JBoss Instance with apache2. Apache2 will use AJP connection to reverse proxy to JBoss. I found these messages in the apache error.log: [error] (70007)The timeout specified has expired: ajp_ilink_receive() can't receive header [error] ajp_read_header: ajp_ilink_receive failed [error] (120006)APR does not understand this error code: proxy: read response failed from 8.8.8.8:8009 (hostname) [error] (111)Connection refused: proxy: AJP: attempt to connect to 8.8.8.8:8009 (hostname) failed [error] ap_proxy_connect_backend disabling worker for (hostname) [error] proxy: AJP: failed to make connection to backend: hostname [error] proxy: AJP: disabled connection for (hostname)25 I googled around but I can't seem to find any related topics. There are people say this behavior can be caused by misconfigured apache vs jboss. Telling the max amount of connections apache allows are far greater then jboss, causing the apache connection to time out. But I know the app isn't used by thousands of simultaneous connections at the time not even hundreds of connections so I don't believe this could be a cause. Does anybody have an idea? Or could tell me how to debug this problem? I'm using these versions: Debian 4.3.5-4 64Bit Apache Version 2.2.16 JBOSS Version 4.2.3.GA Thanks
