  • Small performance test on a web service

    - by vtortola
    Hi, I'm trying to develop a small application that test how many requests per second can my service support but I think I'm doing something wrong. The service is in an early development stage, but I'd like to have this test handy in order to check in time to time I'm not doing something that decrease the performance. The problem is that I cannot get the web server or the database server go to the 100% of CPU. I'm using three different computers, in one is the web server (WinSrv Standard 2008 x64 IIS7), in other the database (Win 2K - SQL Server 2005) and the last is my computer (Win7 x64 ultimate), where I'll run the test. The computers are connected through a 100 ethernet switch. The request POST is 9 bytes and the response will be 842 bytes. The test launches several threads, and each thread has a "while" loop, in each loop it creates a WebRequest object, performs a call, increment a common counter and waits between 1 and 5 millisencods, then it do it again: static Int32 counter = 0; static void Main(string[] args) { ServicePointManager.DefaultConnectionLimit = 250; Console.WriteLine("Ready. Press any key..."); Console.ReadKey(); Console.WriteLine("Running..."); String localhost = "localhost"; String linuxmono = "192.168.1.74"; String server= "192.168.1.5:8080"; DateTime start = DateTime.Now; Random r = new Random(DateTime.Now.Millisecond); for (int i = 0; i < 50; i++) { new Thread(new ParameterizedThreadStart(Test)).Start(server); Thread.Sleep(r.Next(1, 3)); } Thread.Sleep(2000); while (true) { Console.WriteLine("Request per second :" + counter/DateTime.Now.Subtract(start).TotalSeconds ); Thread.Sleep(3000); } } public static void Test(Object ip) { Guid guid = Guid.NewGuid(); Random r = new Random(DateTime.Now.Millisecond); while (true) { String test = "<lalala/>"; WebRequest req = WebRequest.Create("http://" + (String)ip + "/WebApp/"+guid.ToString()+"/Data/Tables=whatever"); req.Method = "POST"; req.ContentType = "application/xml"; req.Credentials = new NetworkCredential("aaa", "aaa","domain"); Byte[] array = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(test); req.ContentLength = array.Length; using (Stream reqStream = req.GetRequestStream()) { reqStream.Write(array, 0, array.Length); reqStream.Close(); } using (Stream responseStream = req.GetResponse().GetResponseStream()) { String response = new StreamReader(responseStream).ReadToEnd(); if (response.Length != 842) Console.Write(" EEEE "); } Interlocked.Increment(ref counter); Thread.Sleep(r.Next(1,5)); } } If I run the test neither of the computers do an excesive CPU usage. Let's say I get a X requests per second, if I run the console application two times at the same moment, I get X/2 request per second in each one... but still the web server is on 30% of CPU, the database server on 25%... I've tried to remove the thread.sleep in the loop, but it doesn't make a big difference. I'd like to put the machines to the maximun, to check how may requests per second they can provide. I guessed that I could do it in this way... but apparently I'm missing something here... What is the problem? Kind regards.

  • ASP.net FFMPEG video conversion receiving error: "Error number -2 occurred"

    - by Pete
    Hello, I am attempting to integrate FFMPEG into my asp.net website. The process I am trying to complete is to upload a video, check if it is .avi, .mov, or .wmv and then convert this video into an mp4 using x264 so my flash player can play it. I am using an http handler (ashx) file to handle my upload. This is where I am also putting my conversion code. I am not sure if this is the best place to put it, but I wanted to see if i could at least get it working. Additionally, I was able to complete the conversion manually through cmd line. The error -2 comes up when i output the standard error from the process I executed. This is the error i receive: FFmpeg version SVN-r23001, Copyright (c) 2000-2010 the FFmpeg developers built on May 1 2010 06:06:15 with gcc 4.4.2 configuration: --enable-memalign-hack --cross-prefix=i686-mingw32- --cc=ccache-i686-mingw32-gcc --arch=i686 --target-os=mingw32 --enable-runtime-cpudetect --enable-avisynth --enable-gpl --enable-version3 --enable-bzlib --enable-libgsm --enable-libfaad --enable-pthreads --enable-libvorbis --enable-libtheora --enable-libspeex --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libxvid --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libx264 --enable-libopencore_amrwb --enable-libopencore_amrnb libavutil 50.15. 0 / 50.15. 0 libavcodec 52.66. 0 / 52.66. 0 libavformat 52.61. 0 / 52.61. 0 libavdevice 52. 2. 0 / 52. 2. 0 libswscale 0.10. 0 / 0.10. 0 532010_Robotica_720.wmv: Error number -2 occurred here is the code below: <%@ WebHandler Language="VB" Class="upload" %> Imports System Imports System.Web Imports System.IO Imports System.Diagnostics Imports System.Threading Public Class upload : Implements IHttpHandler Public currentTime As System.DateTime Public Sub ProcessRequest(ByVal context As HttpContext) Implements IHttpHandler.ProcessRequest currentTime = System.DateTime.Now If (Not context.Request.Files("Filedata") Is Nothing) Then Dim file As HttpPostedFile : file = context.Request.Files("Filedata") Dim targetDirectory As String : targetDirectory = HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath(context.Request("folder")) Dim targetFilePath As String : targetFilePath = Path.Combine(targetDirectory, currentTime.Month & currentTime.Day & currentTime.Year & "_" & file.FileName) Dim fileNameArray As String() fileNameArray = Split(file.FileName, ".") • ASMX Web Services with SOAP Extension

    - by digitall
    I am in the process of setting up a web service for an external client to connect to my client's application and update some information. I went the ASMX route (the rest of the application runs on WCF) because I knew the external client could be very difficult to deal with and I was trying to keep everything as simple as possible. They also aren't a .Net shop which makes things worse. After getting the service setup for them I provided the ASMX URL for them to see how to format the SOAP headers/message content. They have since come back and told me their tool is unable to send them in the format required by .Net and I can either come up with a different way to accept messages or we have to go with FTP. Based on this I have been researching how to intercept their message, reformat it the way my service requires it (which means adding two lines), and then let it process. This path led me to SOAP Extensions which I have been trying to work with but can't seem to figure out. When I have my sample application call the web service from the generated code Add Web Reference provides everything works great until I add in my extension. All it currently does is override ChainStream setting an internal stream equal to the one being passed in and returning a new stream, like this: private Stream newStream = null; private Stream oldStream = null; public override Stream ChainStream(Stream stream) { this.oldStream = stream; this.newStream = new MemoryStream(); return newStream; } I also override ProcessMessage and in it take the contents of oldStream and set newStream equal to that and then write to a different stream with an XmlWriter. I take that new stream and using a StreamReader read it into a string, with the end goal being manipulating it here and setting newStream (which is being used by ChainStream) equal to the contents of this. Here is that piece: public override void ProcessMessage(SoapMessage message) { switch (message.Stage) { case SoapMessageStage.BeforeDeserialize: this.Process(); break; default: break; } } private void Process() { this.newStream.Position = 0L; XmlTextReader reader = new XmlTextReader(this.oldStream); MemoryStream outStream = new MemoryStream(); using (XmlWriter writer = XmlWriter.Create(outStream)) { do { writer.WriteNode(reader, true); } while (reader.Read()); writer.Flush(); } outStream.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.Begin); StreamReader streamReader = new StreamReader(outStream); string message = streamReader.ReadToEnd(); newStream = outStream; newStream.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.Begin); streamReader.Close(); } By running this, which seems to me like it would be fine, my test application gets a 400 Bad Request back from the service. If I either don't use the extension or I don't do anything in ProcessMessage everything seems fine. Any suggestions to this? As a side note, once I get this working with the generated code from the WSDL I will be moving to a WebRequest to try sending the message to the service. Currently that bombs out with a 415 Unsupported Media Type response. I'm trying to keep this post to one question but if anyone has any tips with using a WebRequest to connect to an ASMX service it would be much appreciated!

  • Why does IHttpAsyncHandler leak memory under load?

    - by Anton
    I have noticed that the .NET IHttpAsyncHandler (and the IHttpHandler, to a lesser degree) leak memory when subjected to concurrent web requests. In my tests, the development web server (Cassini) jumps from 6MB memory to over 100MB, and once the test is finished, none of it is reclaimed. The problem can be reproduced easily. Create a new solution (LeakyHandler) with two projects: An ASP.NET web application (LeakyHandler.WebApp) A Console application (LeakyHandler.ConsoleApp) In LeakyHandler.WebApp: Create a class called TestHandler that implements IHttpAsyncHandler. In the request processing, do a brief Sleep and end the response. Add the HTTP handler to Web.config as test.ashx. In LeakyHandler.ConsoleApp: Generate a large number of HttpWebRequests to test.ashx and execute them asynchronously. As the number of HttpWebRequests (sampleSize) is increased, the memory leak is made more and more apparent. LeakyHandler.WebApp TestHandler.cs namespace LeakyHandler.WebApp { public class TestHandler : IHttpAsyncHandler { #region IHttpAsyncHandler Members private ProcessRequestDelegate Delegate { get; set; } public delegate void ProcessRequestDelegate(HttpContext context); public IAsyncResult BeginProcessRequest(HttpContext context, AsyncCallback cb, object extraData) { Delegate = ProcessRequest; return Delegate.BeginInvoke(context, cb, extraData); } public void EndProcessRequest(IAsyncResult result) { Delegate.EndInvoke(result); } #endregion #region IHttpHandler Members public bool IsReusable { get { return true; } } public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { Thread.Sleep(10); context.Response.End(); } #endregion } } LeakyHandler.WebApp Web.config <?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration> <system.web> <compilation debug="false" /> <httpHandlers> <add verb="POST" path="test.ashx" type="LeakyHandler.WebApp.TestHandler" /> </httpHandlers> </system.web> </configuration> LeakyHandler.ConsoleApp Program.cs namespace LeakyHandler.ConsoleApp { class Program { private static int sampleSize = 10000; private static int startedCount = 0; private static int completedCount = 0; static void Main(string[] args) { Console.WriteLine("Press any key to start."); Console.ReadKey(); string url = "http://localhost:3000/test.ashx"; for (int i = 0; i < sampleSize; i++) { HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url); request.Method = "POST"; request.BeginGetResponse(GetResponseCallback, request); Console.WriteLine("S: " + Interlocked.Increment(ref startedCount)); } Console.ReadKey(); } static void GetResponseCallback(IAsyncResult result) { HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)result.AsyncState; HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse)request.EndGetResponse(result); try { using (Stream stream = response.GetResponseStream()) { using (StreamReader streamReader = new StreamReader(stream)) { streamReader.ReadToEnd(); System.Console.WriteLine("C: " + Interlocked.Increment(ref completedCount)); } } response.Close(); } catch (Exception ex) { System.Console.WriteLine("Error processing response: " + ex.Message); } } } }

  • KeepAliveException when using HttpWebRequest.GetResponse

    - by Lucas
    I am trying to POST an attachment to CouchDB using the HttpWebRequest. However, when I attempt "response = (HttpWebResponse)httpWebRequest.GetResponse();" I receive a WebException with the message "The underlying connection was closed: A connection that was expected to be kept alive was closed by the server." I have found some articles stating that setting the keepalive to false and httpversion to 1.0 resolves the situation. I am finding that it does not yeilding the exact same error, plus I do not want to take that approach as I do not want to use the 1.0 version due to how it handles the connection. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome. I'll try them all until one works! public ServerResponse PostAttachment(Server server, Database db, Attachment attachment) { Stream dataStream; HttpWebResponse response = null; StreamReader sr = null; byte[] buffer; string json; string boundary = "----------------------------" + DateTime.Now.Ticks.ToString("x"); string headerTemplate = "Content-Disposition: form-data; name=\"_attachments\"; filename=\"" + attachment.Filename + "\"\r\n Content-Type: application/octet-stream\r\n\r\n"; byte[] headerbytes = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(headerTemplate); byte[] boundarybytes = System.Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("\r\n--" + boundary + "\r\n"); HttpWebRequest httpWebRequest = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create("http://" + server.Host + ":" + server.Port.ToString() + "/" + db.Name + "/" + attachment.Document.Id); httpWebRequest.ContentType = "multipart/form-data; boundary=" + boundary; httpWebRequest.Method = "POST"; httpWebRequest.KeepAlive = true; httpWebRequest.ContentLength = attachment.Stream.Length + headerbytes.Length + boundarybytes.Length; if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(server.EncodedCredentials)) httpWebRequest.Headers.Add("Authorization", server.EncodedCredentials); if (!attachment.Stream.CanRead) throw new System.NotSupportedException("The stream cannot be read."); // Get the request stream try { dataStream = httpWebRequest.GetRequestStream(); } catch (Exception e) { throw new WebException("Failed to get the request stream.", e); } buffer = new byte[server.BufferSize]; int bytesRead; dataStream.Write(headerbytes,0,headerbytes.Length); attachment.Stream.Position = 0; while ((bytesRead = attachment.Stream.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length)) > 0) { dataStream.Write(buffer, 0, bytesRead); } dataStream.Write(boundarybytes, 0, boundarybytes.Length); dataStream.Close(); // send the request and get the response try { response = (HttpWebResponse)httpWebRequest.GetResponse(); } catch (Exception e) { throw new WebException("Invalid response received from server.", e); } // get the server's response json try { dataStream = response.GetResponseStream(); sr = new StreamReader(dataStream); json = sr.ReadToEnd(); } catch (Exception e) { throw new WebException("Failed to access the response stream.", e); } // close up all our streams and response sr.Close(); dataStream.Close(); response.Close(); // Deserialize the server response return ConvertTo.JsonToServerResponse(json); }

  • HttpWebRequest: How to find a postal code at Canada Post through a WebRequest with x-www-form-enclos

    - by Will Marcouiller
    I'm currently writing some tests so that I may improve my skills with the Internet interaction through Windows Forms. One of those tests is to find a postal code which should be returned by Canada Post website. My default URL setting is set to: http://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/fpc/personal/findByCity?execution=e4s1 The required form fields are: streetNumber, streetName, city, province The contentType is "application/x-www-form-enclosed" EDIT: Please consider the value "application/x-www-form-encoded" instead of point 3 value as the contentType. (Thanks EricLaw-MSFT!) The result I get is not the result expected. I get the HTML source code of the page where I could manually enter the information to find the postal code, but not the HTML source code with the found postal code. Any idea of what I'm doing wrong? Shall I consider going the XML way? Is it first of all possible to search on Canada Post anonymously? Here's a code sample for better description: public static string FindPostalCode(ICanadadianAddress address) { var postData = string.Concat(string.Format("&streetNumber={0}", address.StreetNumber) , string.Format("&streetName={0}", address.StreetName) , string.Format("&city={0}", address.City) , string.Format("&province={0}", address.Province)); var encoding = new ASCIIEncoding(); byte[] postDataBytes = encoding.GetBytes(postData); request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(DefaultUrlSettings); request.ImpersonationLevel = System.Security.Principal.TokenImpersonationLevel.Anonymous; request.Container = new CookieContainer(); request.Timeout = 10000; request.ContentType = contentType; request.ContentLength = postDataBytes.LongLength; request.Method = @"post"; var senderStream = new StreamWriter(request.GetRequestStream()); senderStream.Write(postDataBytes, 0, postDataBytes.Length); senderStream.Close(); string htmlResponse = new StreamReader(request.GetResponse().GetResponseStream()).ReadToEnd(); return processedResult(htmlResponse); // Processing the HTML source code parsing, etc. } I seem stuck in a bottle neck in my point of view. I find no way out to the desired result. EDIT: There seems to have to parameters as for the ContentType of this site. Let me explain. There's one with the "meta"-variables which stipulates the following: meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="application/xhtml+xml, text/xml, text/html; charset=utf-8" And another one later down the code that is read as: form id="fpcByAdvancedSearch:fpcSearch" name="fpcByAdvancedSearch:fpcSearch" method="post" action="/cpotools/apps/fpc/personal/findByCity?execution=e1s1" enctype="application/x-www-form-urlencoded" My question is the following: With which one do I have to stick? Let me guess, the first ContentType is to be considered as the second is only for another request to a function or so when the data is posted? EDIT: As per request, the closer to the solution I am is listed under this question: WebRequest: How to find a postal code using a WebRequest against this ContentType=”application/xhtml+xml, text/xml, text/html; charset=utf-8”? Thanks for any help! :-)

  • Receicing POST data in ASP.NET

    - by grast
    Hi, I want to use ASP for code generation in a C# desktop application. To achieve this, I set up a simple host (derived from System.MarshalByRefObject) that processes a System.Web.Hosting.SimpleWorkerRequest via HttpRuntime.ProcessRequest. This processes the ASPX script specified by the incoming request (using System.Net.HttpListener to wait for requests). The client-part is represented by a System.ComponentModel.BackgroundWorker that builds the System.Net.HttpWebRequest and receives the response from the server. A simplified version of my client-part-code looks like this: private void SendRequest(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { // create request with GET parameter var uri = "http://localhost:9876/test.aspx?getTest=321"; var request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(uri); // append POST parameter request.Method = "POST"; request.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; var postData = Encoding.Default.GetBytes("postTest=654"); var postDataStream = request.GetRequestStream(); postDataStream.Write(postData, 0, postData.Length); // send request, wait for response and store/print content using (var response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse()) { using (var reader = new StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream(), Encoding.UTF8)) { _processsedContent = reader.ReadToEnd(); Debug.Print(_processsedContent); } } } My server-part-code looks like this (without exception-handling etc.): public void ProcessRequests() { // HttpListener at http://localhost:9876/ var listener = SetupListener(); // SimpleHost created by ApplicationHost.CreateApplicationHost var host = SetupHost(); while (_running) { var context = listener.GetContext(); using (var writer = new StreamWriter(context.Response.OutputStream)) { // process ASP script and send response back to client host.ProcessRequest(GetPage(context), GetQuery(context), writer); } context.Response.Close(); } } So far all this works fine as long as I just use GET parameters. But when it comes to receiving POST data in my ASPX script I run into trouble. For testing I use the following script: // GET parameters are working: var getTest = Request.QueryString["getTest"]; Response.Write("getTest: " + getTest); // prints "getTest: 321" // don't know how to access POST parameters: var postTest1 = Request.Form["postTest"]; // Request.Form is empty?! Response.Write("postTest1: " + postTest1); // so this prints "postTest1: " var postTest2 = Request.Params["postTest"]; // Request.Params is empty?! Response.Write("postTest2: " + postTest2); // so this prints "postTest2: " It seems that the System.Web.HttpRequest object I'm dealing with in ASP does not contain any information about my POST parameter "postTest". I inspected it in debug mode and none of the members did contain neither the parameter-name "postTest" nor the parameter-value "654". I also tried the BinaryRead method of Request, but unfortunately it is empty. This corresponds to Request.InputStream==null and Request.ContentLength==0. And to make things really confusing the Request.HttpMethod member is set to "GET"?! To isolate the problem I tested the code by using a PHP script instead of the ASPX script. This is very simple: print_r($_GET); // prints all GET variables print_r($_POST); // prints all POST variables And the result is: Array ( [getTest] = 321 ) Array ( [postTest] = 654 ) So with the PHP script it works, I can access the POST data. Why does the ASPX script don't? What am I doing wrong? Is there a special accessor or method in the Response object? Can anyone give a hint or even know how to solve this? Thanks in advance.

    - by Joel Kennedy
    I have this code which runs in a BackgroundWorker, and should make a POST request to the server and get a response. It works fine when it is supposed to work, but when I try to induce a 404 error it doesn't catch the error reporting system. loginProcess.DoWork += delegate(object s, DoWorkEventArgs args) { // loginProcess BackgroundWorker try { // Try to login, if error, report loginProcess.ReportProgress(10); String method = "POST"; String postdata = "postdata=test"; String url = "http://localhost/dev/login.php"; loginProcess.ReportProgress(15); WebRequest rqst = HttpWebRequest.Create(url); rqst.Timeout = 5000; ((HttpWebRequest)rqst).KeepAlive = true; loginProcess.ReportProgress(20); //rqst.Timeout = this.Timeout; // only needed, if you use HTTP AUTH //CredentialCache creds = new CredentialCache(); //creds.Add(new Uri(url), "Basic", new NetworkCredential(this.Uname, this.Pwd)); //rqst.Credentials = creds; rqst.Method = method; if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(postdata)) { //rqst.ContentType = "application/xml"; rqst.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; loginProcess.ReportProgress(30); byte[] byteData = UTF8Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(postdata); loginProcess.ReportProgress(40); rqst.ContentLength = byteData.Length; loginProcess.ReportProgress(50); using (Stream postStream = rqst.GetRequestStream()) { loginProcess.ReportProgress(50); postStream.Write(byteData, 0, byteData.Length); loginProcess.ReportProgress(60); postStream.Close(); loginProcess.ReportProgress(70); rqst.GetResponse().Close(); rqst.GetRequestStream().Close(); } } loginProcess.ReportProgress(90); using (var response1 = rqst.GetResponse()) { using (var responseStream1 = response1.GetResponseStream()) { using (var reader1 = new StreamReader(responseStream1)) { //StreamReader rsps = new StreamReader(rqst.GetResponse().GetResponseStream()); string strRsps = reader1.ReadToEnd(); loginProcess.ReportProgress(95); loginVars = strRsps; //rqst. //reader1.Close(); //rsps.Dispose(); } args.Result = "SUCCESS"; } } } catch(WebException err) { // Catch error and put into err variable if(err.Status == WebExceptionStatus.ProtocolError) { // If something is wrong with protocol LoginReporting.ErrorName = Convert.ToString(((HttpWebResponse)err.Response).StatusCode); LoginReporting.ErrorDescription = Convert.ToString(((HttpWebResponse)err.Response).StatusDescription); LoginReporting.ErrorNotes = "Error when logging in, Server returned: " + Convert.ToString(((HttpWebResponse)err.Response).StatusCode); LoginReporting.ErrorLocation = "LoginRequest.ProtocolError"; args.Result = "ERROR"; //MessageBox.Show(Convert.ToString(((HttpWebResponse)err.Response).StatusCode)); //MessageBox.Show(Convert.ToString(((HttpWebResponse)err.Response).StatusDescription)); } else { args.Result = "ERROR"; } } catch(Exception err) { // Catch unhandled error LoginReporting.ErrorName = Convert.ToString(err); LoginReporting.ErrorDescription = Convert.ToString(err.Message); LoginReporting.ErrorNotes = "Error when logging in, Server returned: " + Convert.ToString(err.Message); LoginReporting.ErrorLocation = "LoginRequest.ProtocolError"; args.Result = "ERROR"; } }; I have put a timeout on the request but it just doesn't work! Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong here? Thanks

  • How can I read the verbose output from a Cmdlet in C# using Exchange Powershell

    - by mrkeith
    Environment: Exchange 2007 sp3 (2003 sp2 mixed mode) Visual Studio 2008, .Net 3.5 Hello, I'm working with an Exchange powershell move-mailbox cmdlet and have noted when I do so from the Exchange Management shell (using the Verbose switch) there is a ton of real-time information provided. To provide a little context, I'm attempting to create a UI application that moves mailboxes similarly to the Exchange Management Console but desire to support an input file and specific server/database destinations for each entry (and threading). Here's roughly what I have at present but I'm not sure if there is an event I need to register for or what... And to be clear, I desire to get this information in real-time so I may update my UI to reflect what's occurring in the move sequence for the appropriate user (pretty much like the native functionality offered in the Management Console). And in case you are wondering, the reason why I'm not content with the Management Console functionality is, I have an algorithm which I'm using to balance users depending on storage limit, Blackberry use, journaling, exception mailbox size etc which demands user be mapped to specific locations... and I do not desire to create many/several move groups for each common destination or to hunt for lists of users individually through the management console UI. I can not seem to find any good documentation or examples of how to tie into reading the verbose messages that are provided within the console using C# (I see value in being able to read this kind of information in many different scenarios). I've explored the Invoke and InvokeAsync methods and the StateChanged & DataReady events but none of these seem to provide the information (verbose comments) that I'm after. Any direction or examples that can be provided will be very appreciated! A code sample which is little more than how I would ordinarily call any other powershell command follows: // config to use ExMgmt shell, create runspace and open it RunspaceConfiguration rsConfig = RunspaceConfiguration.Create(); PSSnapInException snapInException = null; PSSnapInInfo info = rsConfig.AddPSSnapIn("Microsoft.Exchange.Management.PowerShell.Admin", out snapInException); if (snapInException != null) throw snapInException; Runspace runspace = RunspaceFactory.CreateRunspace(rsConfig); try { runspace.Open(); // create a pipeline and feed script text Pipeline pipeline = runspace.CreatePipeline(); string targetDatabase = @"myServer\myStorageGroup\myDB"; string mbxOwner = "[email protected]"; Command myMoveMailbox = new Command("Move-Mailbox", false, false); myMoveMailbox.Parameters.Add("Identity", mbxOwner); myMoveMailbox.Parameters.Add("TargetDatabase", targetDatabase); myMoveMailbox.Parameters.Add("Verbose"); myMoveMailbox.Parameters.Add("ValidateOnly"); myMoveMailbox.Parameters.Add("Confirm", false); pipeline.Commands.Add(myMoveMailbox); System.Collections.ObjectModel.Collection output = null; // these next few lines that are commented out are where I've tried // registering for events and calling asynchronously but this doesn't // seem to get me anywhere closer // //pipeline.StateChanged += new EventHandler(pipeline_StateChanged); //pipeline.Output.DataReady += new EventHandler(Output_DataReady); //pipeline.InvokeAsync(); //pipeline.Input.Close(); //return; tried these variations that are commented out but none seem to be useful output = pipeline.Invoke(); // Check for errors in the pipeline and throw an exception if necessary if (pipeline.Error != null && pipeline.Error.Count 0) { StringBuilder pipelineError = new StringBuilder(); pipelineError.AppendFormat("Error calling Test() Cmdlet. "); foreach (object item in pipeline.Error.ReadToEnd()) pipelineError.AppendFormat("{0}\n", item.ToString()); throw new Exception(pipelineError.ToString()); } foreach (PSObject psObject in output) { // blah, blah, blah // this is normally where I would read details about a particular PS command // but really pertains to a command once it finishes and has nothing to do with // the verbose messages that I'm after... since this part of the methods pertains // to the after-effects of a command having run, I'm suspecting I need to look to // the asynch invoke method but am not certain or knowing how. } } finally { runspace.Close(); } Thanks! • Help deciphering exception details from WebRequestCreator when setting ContentType to "application/json"

    - by Stephen Patten
    Hello, This one is real simple, run this Silverlight4 example with the ContentType property commented out and you'll get back a response from from my service in xml. Now uncomment the property and run it and you'll get an exception similar to this one. System.Net.ProtocolViolationException occurred Message=A request with this method cannot have a request body. • WinMo > ASMX WebException - how to get details?

    - by eidylon
    Okay, we've got an application which consists of a website hosting several ASMX webservices, and a handheld application running on WinMo 6.1 which calls the webservices. Been developing in the office, everything works perfect. Now we've gone to install it at the client's and we got all the servers set up and the handhelds installed. However the handhelds are now no longer able to connect to the webservice. I added in extra code in my error handler to specifically trap WebException exceptions and handle them differently in the logging to put out extra information (.Status and .Response). I am getting out the status, which is returning a [7], or ProtocolError. However when I try to read out the ResponseStream (using WebException.Response.GetResponseStream), it is returning a stream with CanRead set to False, and I thus am unable to get any further details of what is going wrong. So I guess there are two things I am asking for help with... a) Any help with trying to get more information out of the WebException? b) What could be causing a ProtocolError exception? Things get extra complicated by the fact that the client has a full-blown log-in-enabled proxy setup going on-site. This was stopping all access to the website initially, even from a browser. So we entered in the login details in the network connection for HTTP on the WinMo device. Now it can get to websites fine. In fact, I can even pull up the webservice fine and call the methods from the browser (PocketIE). So I know the device is able to see the webservices okay via HTTP. But when trying to call them from the .NET app, it throws ProtocolError [7]. Here is my code which is logging the exception and failing to read out the Response from the WebException. Public Sub LogEx(ByVal ex As Exception) Try Dim fn As String = Path.Combine(ini.CorePath, "error.log") Dim t = File.AppendText(fn) t.AutoFlush = True t.WriteLine(<s>===== <%= Format(GetDateTime(), "MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss") %> =====<%= vbCrLf %><%= ex.Message %></s>.Value) t.WriteLine() t.WriteLine(ex.ToString) t.WriteLine() If TypeOf ex Is WebException Then With CType(ex, WebException) t.WriteLine("STATUS: " & .Status.ToString & " (" & Val(.Status) & ")") t.WriteLine("RESPONSE:" & vbCrLf & StreamToString(.Response.GetResponseStream())) End With End If t.WriteLine("=".Repeat(50)) t.WriteLine() t.Close() Catch ix As Exception : Alert(ix) : End Try End Sub Private Function StreamToString(ByVal s As IO.Stream) As String If s Is Nothing Then Return "No response found." // THIS IS THE CASE BEING EXECUTED If Not s.CanRead Then Return "Unreadable response found." Dim rv As String = String.Empty, bytes As Long, buffer(4096) As Byte Using mem As New MemoryStream() Do While True bytes = s.Read(buffer, 0, buffer.Length) mem.Write(buffer, 0, bytes) If bytes = 0 Then Exit Do Loop mem.Position = 0 ReDim buffer(mem.Length) mem.Read(buffer, 0, mem.Length) mem.Seek(0, SeekOrigin.Begin) rv = New StreamReader(mem).ReadToEnd() mem.Close() End Using Return rv.NullOf("Empty response found.") End Function Thanks in advance!

  • Why is my code returning a Null Object Refrence error when using WatIn?

    - by Fuzz Evans
    I keep getting a Null Object Refrence Error, but can't tell why. I have a CSV file that contains 100 urls. The file is read into an array called "lines". public partial class Form1 : System.Windows.Forms.Form { string[] lines; public Form1() ... private void ReadLinksIntoMemory() { //this reads the chosen csv file into our "lines" array //and splits on comma's and new lines to create new objects within the array using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(@"C:\temp.csv")) { //reads everything in our csv into 1 long line string fileContents = sr.ReadToEnd(); //splits the 1 long line read in into multiple objects of the lines array lines = fileContents.Split(new string[] { ",", Environment.NewLine }, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries); sr.Dispose(); } } The next part is where I get the null object error. When I try to use WatIn to go to the first item in the lines array it says I'm referencing a null object. private void GoToEditLinks() { for (int i = 0; i < lines.Length; i++) { //go to each link sequentially myIE.GoTo(lines[i].ToString()); //sleep so we can make sure the page loads System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(5000); } } When I debug the code it says that the GoTo request calls lines which is null. It seems like I need to declare the array, but don't I need to tell it an exact size to do that? Example: lines = new string[10] I thought I could use the lines.Length to tell it how big to make the array but that didn't work. What is weird to me is I can use the following code without problem: //returns the accurate number of urls that were in the CSV we read in earlier txtbx1.text = lines.Length; //or //this returns the last entry in the csv, as well as the last entry in the array TextBox2.Text = lines[lines.Length - 1]; I am confused why the array clearly has items in it, they can be called to fill a text box, but when I try to call them in my for loop it says its a null reference? UPDATE: By placing my cursor on both calls to lines and pressing f12 I find they both go to the same instance. The thought next is that I am not calling ReadLinksIntoMemory in time, below is my code: private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { button1.Enabled = false; ReadLinksIntoMemory(); GoToEditLinks(); button1.Enabled = true; } Unless I'm mistaken the code says that the ReadLinksIntoMemory method must complete before GoToEditLinks can be called? If ReadLinksIntoMemory didn't finish in time I shouldn't be able to fill my text boxes with the lines array length and/or last entry. UPDATE: Stepping into the method GoToEditLinks() I see that lines is null before it calls: myIE.GoTo(lines[i]); but when it hits the goto command the value changes from null to the url it is suppose to go to, but at that same time it gives me the null object error? UPDATE: I added a IsNullOrEmpty check method and lines array passes it without any issue. I'm beginning to think it is an issue with WatIn and the myIE.GoTo command. I think this is the stack trace/call stack? Program.exe!Program.Form1.GoToEditLinks() Line 284 C# Program.exe!Program.Form1.button1_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e) Line 191 + 0x8 bytes C# [External Code] Program.exe!Program.Program.Main() Line 18 + 0x1d bytes C# [External Code]

  • Receiving POST data in ASP.NET

  • WCF DataContractSerializer Behavior

    - by sbanwart
    I'm seeing some unusual behavior when using the DataContractSerializer. I have defined a message contract like so: namespace MyNamespace.DataContracts { [MessageContract(WrapperName = "order", WrapperNamespace = @"http://example.com/v1/order")] public class MyOrder { [MessageBodyMember(Namespace = @"http://http://example.com/v1/order", Order = 1)] public MyStore store; [MessageBodyMember(Namespace = @"http://http://example.com/v1/order", Order = 2)] public MyOrderHeader orderHeader; [MessageBodyMember(Namespace = @"http://example.com/v1/order", Order = 3)] public List<MyPayment> payments; [MessageBodyMember(Namespace = @"http://example.com/v1/order", Order = 4)] public List<MyShipment> shipments; } . . I'm sending it an XML message that looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <order xmlns="http://example.com/v1/order> <store> ... </store> <orderHeader> ... </orderHeader> <payments> <payment> ... </payment> </payments> <shipments> <shipment> ... </shipment> </shipments> </order> My service deserializes this XML as expected. Inside my service, I'm using the DataContractSerializer to create an XML string and that's where things get weird. I'm using the serializer like this: DataContractSerializer serializer = new DataContractSerializer(typeof(MyOrder)); using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream()) { serializer.WriteObject(ms, order); ms.Position = 0; StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(ms); string outputMessage = sr.ReadToEnd(); } Once this finishes, the outputMessage contains the following XML: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <MyOrder xmlns="http://example.com/v1/order" xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <order> <store> ... </store> <orderHeader> ... </orderHeader> <payments> <payment> ... </payment> </payments> <shipments> <shipment> ... </shipment> </shipments> </order> </MyOrder> Needless to say, anything expecting to receive the original XML message will fail to parse this. So I guess I have two questions: Why is the DataContractSerializer adding the extra outer node to my XML output? Is there a way to stop it from doing this? Thanks.

  • HttpWebRequest response produces HTTP 422. Why?

    - by Simon
    Hi there. I'm trying to programmatically send a POST-request to a web-server in order to login an then perform other requests that require a login. This is my code: Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes( String.Format( "login={0}&password={1}&authenticity_token={2}", username, password, token)); //Create HTTP-request for login HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create("http://www.xxx.xx/xx/xx"); request.Method = "POST"; request.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; request.ContentLength = data.Length; request.CookieContainer = new CookieContainer(); request.Accept = "application/xml,application/xhtml+xml,text/html; +"q=0.9,text/plain ;q=0.8,image/png,*/*;q=0.5"; request.Referer = "http://www.garzantilinguistica.it/it/session"; request.Headers.Add("Accept-Language", "de-DE"); request.Headers.Add("Origin", "http://www.xxx.xx"); request.UserAgent = "C#"; request.Headers.Add("Accept-Encoding", "gzip, deflate"); After sending the request //Send post request var requestStream = request.GetRequestStream(); requestStream.Write(data, 0, data.Length); requestStream.Flush(); requestStream.Close(); ... I want to get the servers response: //Get Response StreamReader responseStreamReader = new StreamReader( request.GetResponse().GetResponseStream()); //WebException: HTTP 422! string content = responseStreamReader.ReadToEnd(); This piece of code fires the WebException, that tells me the server responded with HTTP 422 (unprocessable entity due to semantic errors) Then I compared (using a TCP/IP sniffers) the requests of my program and the browser (which of course produces a valid POST-request and gets the right response). • Restart program from a certain line with an if statement?

    - by user1744093
    could anyone help me restart my program from line 46 if the user enters 1 (just after the comment where it states that the next code is going to ask the user for 2 inputs) and if the user enters -1 end it. I cannot think how to do it. I'm new to C# any help you could give would be great! class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { //Displays data in correct Format List<float> inputList = new List<float>(); TextReader tr = new StreamReader("c:/users/tom/documents/visual studio 2010/Projects/DistanceCalculator3/DistanceCalculator3/TextFile1.txt"); String input = Convert.ToString(tr.ReadToEnd()); String[] items = input.Split(','); Console.WriteLine("Point Latitude Longtitude Elevation"); for (int i = 0; i < items.Length; i++) { if (i % 3 == 0) { Console.Write((i / 3) + "\t\t"); } Console.Write(items[i]); Console.Write("\t\t"); if (((i - 2) % 3) == 0) { Console.WriteLine(); } } Console.WriteLine(); Console.WriteLine(); // Ask for two inputs from the user which is then converted into 6 floats and transfered in class Coordinates Console.WriteLine("Please enter the two points that you wish to know the distance between:"); string point = Console.ReadLine(); string[] pointInput = point.Split(' '); int pointNumber = Convert.ToInt16(pointInput[0]); int pointNumber2 = Convert.ToInt16(pointInput[1]); Coordinates distance = new Coordinates(); distance.latitude = (Convert.ToDouble(items[pointNumber * 3])); distance.longtitude = (Convert.ToDouble(items[(pointNumber * 3) + 1])); distance.elevation = (Convert.ToDouble(items[(pointNumber * 3) + 2])); distance.latitude2 = (Convert.ToDouble(items[pointNumber2 * 3])); distance.longtitude2 = (Convert.ToDouble(items[(pointNumber2 * 3) + 1])); distance.elevation2 = (Convert.ToDouble(items[(pointNumber2 * 3) + 2])); //Calculate the distance between two points const double PIx = 3.141592653589793; const double RADIO = 6371; double dlat = ((distance.latitude2) * (PIx / 180)) - ((distance.latitude) * (PIx / 180)); double dlon = ((distance.longtitude2) * (PIx / 180)) - ((distance.longtitude) * (PIx / 180)); double a = (Math.Sin(dlat / 2) * Math.Sin(dlat / 2)) + Math.Cos((distance.latitude) * (PIx / 180)) * Math.Cos((distance.latitude2) * (PIx / 180)) * (Math.Sin(dlon / 2) * Math.Sin(dlon / 2)); double angle = 2 * Math.Atan2(Math.Sqrt(a), Math.Sqrt(1 - a)); double ultimateDistance = (angle * RADIO); Console.WriteLine("The distance between your two points is..."); Console.WriteLine(ultimateDistance); //Repeat the program if the user enters 1, end the program if the user enters -1 Console.WriteLine("If you wish to calculate another distance type 1 and return, if you wish to end the program, type -1."); Console.ReadLine(); if (Convert.ToInt16(Console.ReadLine()) == 1); { //here is where I need it to repeat }

  • Why does sending post data with WebRequest take so long?

    - by Paramiliar
    I am currently creating a C# application to tie into a php / MySQL online system. The application needs to send post data to scripts and get the response. When I send the following data username=test&password=test I get the following responses... Starting request at 22/04/2010 12:15:42 Finished creating request : took 00:00:00.0570057 Transmitting data at 22/04/2010 12:15:42 Transmitted the data : took 00:00:06.9316931 <<-- Getting the response at 22/04/2010 12:15:49 Getting response 00:00:00.0360036 Finished response 00:00:00.0360036 Entire call took 00:00:07.0247024 As you can see it is taking 6 seconds to actually send the data to the script, I have done further testing bye sending data from telnet and by sending post data from a local file to the url and they dont even take a second so this is not a problem with the hosted script on the site. Why is it taking 6 seconds to transmit the data when it is two simple strings? I use a custom class to send the data class httppostdata { WebRequest request; WebResponse response; public string senddata(string url, string postdata) { var start = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Starting request at " + start.ToString()); // create the request to the url passed in the paramaters request = (WebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url); // set the method to post request.Method = "POST"; // set the content type and the content length request.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; request.ContentLength = postdata.Length; // convert the post data into a byte array byte[] byteData = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(postdata); var end1 = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Finished creating request : took " + (end1 - start)); var start2 = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Transmitting data at " + start2.ToString()); // get the request stream and write the data to it Stream dataStream = request.GetRequestStream(); dataStream.Write(byteData, 0, byteData.Length); dataStream.Close(); var end2 = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Transmitted the data : took " + (end2 - start2)); // get the response var start3 = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Getting the response at " + start3.ToString()); response = request.GetResponse(); //Console.WriteLine(((WebResponse)response).StatusDescription); dataStream = response.GetResponseStream(); StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(dataStream); var end3 = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Getting response " + (end3 - start3)); // read the response string serverresponse = reader.ReadToEnd(); var end3a = DateTime.Now; Console.WriteLine("Finished response " + (end3a - start3)); Console.WriteLine("Entire call took " + (end3a - start)); //Console.WriteLine(serverresponse); reader.Close(); dataStream.Close(); response.Close(); return serverresponse; } } And to call it I use private void btnLogin_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { // string postdata; if (txtUsername.Text.Length < 3 || txtPassword.Text.Length < 3) { MessageBox.Show("Missing your username or password."); } else { string postdata = "username=" + txtUsername.Text + "&password=" + txtPassword.Text; httppostdata myPost = new httppostdata(); string response = myPost.senddata("http://www.domainname.com/scriptname.php", postdata); MessageBox.Show(response); } }

  • How to search Multiple Sites using Lucene Search engine API?

    - by Wael Salman
    Hope that someone can help me as soon as possible :-) I would like to know how can we search Multiple Sites using Lucene??! (All sites are in one index). I have succeeded to search one website , and to index multiple sites, however I am not able to search all websites. Consider this method that I have: private void PerformSearch() { DateTime start = DateTime.Now; //Create the Searcher object string strIndexDir = Server.MapPath("index") + @"\" + mstrURL; IndexSearcher objSearcher = new IndexSearcher(strIndexDir); //Parse the query, "text" is the default field to search Query objQuery = QueryParser.Parse(mstrQuery, "text", new StandardAnalyzer()); //Create the result DataTable mobjDTResults.Columns.Add("title", typeof(string)); mobjDTResults.Columns.Add("path", typeof(string)); mobjDTResults.Columns.Add("score", typeof(string)); mobjDTResults.Columns.Add("sample", typeof(string)); mobjDTResults.Columns.Add("explain", typeof(string)); //Perform search and get hit count Hits objHits = objSearcher.Search(objQuery); mintTotal = objHits.Length(); //Create Highlighter QueryHighlightExtractor highlighter = new QueryHighlightExtractor(objQuery, new StandardAnalyzer(), "<B>", "</B>"); //Initialize "Start At" variable mintStartAt = GetStartAt(); //How many items we should show? int intResultsCt = GetSmallerOf(mintTotal, mintMaxResults + mintStartAt); //Loop through results and display for (int intCt = mintStartAt; intCt < intResultsCt; intCt++) { //Get the document from resuls index Document doc = objHits.Doc(intCt); //Get the document's ID and set the cache location string strID = doc.Get("id"); string strLocation = ""; if (mstrURL.Substring(0,3) == "www") strLocation = Server.MapPath("cache") + @"\" + mstrURL + @"\" + strID + ".htm"; else strLocation = doc.Get("path") + doc.Get("filename"); //Load the HTML page from cache string strPlainText; using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(strLocation, System.Text.Encoding.Default)) { strPlainText = ParseHTML(sr.ReadToEnd()); } //Add result to results datagrid DataRow row = mobjDTResults.NewRow(); if (mstrURL.Substring(0,3) == "www") row["title"] = doc.Get("title"); else row["title"] = doc.Get("filename"); row["path"] = doc.Get("path"); row["score"] = String.Format("{0:f}", (objHits.Score(intCt) * 100)) + "%"; row["sample"] = highlighter.GetBestFragments(strPlainText, 200, 2, "..."); Explanation objExplain = objSearcher.Explain(objQuery, intCt); row["explain"] = objExplain.ToHtml(); mobjDTResults.Rows.Add(row); } objSearcher.Close(); //Finalize results information mTsDuration = DateTime.Now - start; mintFromItem = mintStartAt + 1; mintToItem = GetSmallerOf(mintStartAt + mintMaxResults, mintTotal); } as you can see that I use the site URL 'mstrURL' when I create the search object string strIndexDir = Server.MapPath("index") + @"\" + mstrURL; How can I do the same when I want to search multiple sites?? Actually I am using the code from http://www.keylimetie.com/blog/2005/8/4/lucenenet/

  • SOAP Service Request C#

    - by user3728352
    I have this code that tries to send a request to a soap server, I'm new to soap so i am not sure if the terms i am using are correct or not please correct me I am wrong. Basically i am accessing a web service method named getUserDomain via soap request Here is the code: public void CallWebService() { var _url = "https://....com/QcXmlWebService/QcXmlWebService.asmx?wsdl"; var _action = "https://....com/QcXmlWebService/QcXmlWebService.asmx?op=GetUserDomains"; XmlDocument soapEnvelopeXml = CreateSoapEnvelope(); HttpWebRequest webRequest = CreateWebRequest(_url, _action); InsertSoapEnvelopeIntoWebRequest(soapEnvelopeXml, webRequest); webRequest.BeginGetResponse(null, null); // begin async call to web request. IAsyncResult asyncResult = webRequest.BeginGetResponse(null, null); // suspend this thread until call is complete. You might want to // do something usefull here like update your UI. asyncResult.AsyncWaitHandle.WaitOne(); // get the response from the completed web request. string soapResult; using (WebResponse webResponse = webRequest.EndGetResponse(asyncResult)) { using (StreamReader rd = new StreamReader(webResponse.GetResponseStream())) { soapResult = rd.ReadToEnd(); } Console.Write(soapResult); } } private HttpWebRequest CreateWebRequest(string url, string action) { HttpWebRequest webRequest = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url); webRequest.Headers.Add("SOAPAction", action); webRequest.ContentType = "text/xml;charset=\"utf-8\""; webRequest.Accept = "text/xml"; webRequest.Method = "POST"; return webRequest; } private XmlDocument CreateSoapEnvelope() { XmlDocument soapEnvelop = new XmlDocument(); string oRequest = ""; oRequest = @"<soap:Envelope xmlns:soap=""http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope"" xmlns:qcx=""http://smething.com/QCXML"">"; oRequest = oRequest + "<soap:Header/>"; oRequest = oRequest + "<soap:Body>"; oRequest = oRequest + "<qcx:GetUserDomains>"; oRequest = oRequest + "<qcx:inputXml><![CDATA["; oRequest = oRequest + "<GetUserDomains>"; oRequest = oRequest + "<login>"; oRequest = oRequest + "<domain_name>MBB_BTS</domain_name>"; oRequest = oRequest + "<project_name>WCDMA_BTS_IV</project_name>"; oRequest = oRequest + "<user_name>user</user_name>"; oRequest = oRequest + "<password>pass</password>"; oRequest = oRequest + "</login>"; oRequest = oRequest + "</GetUserDomains>"; oRequest = oRequest + " ]]>"; oRequest = oRequest + "</qcx:inputXml>"; oRequest = oRequest + "</qcx:GetUserDomains>"; oRequest = oRequest + "</soap:Body>"; oRequest = oRequest + "</soap:Envelope>"; soapEnvelop.LoadXml(oRequest); return soapEnvelop; } private void InsertSoapEnvelopeIntoWebRequest(XmlDocument soapEnvelopeXml, HttpWebRequest webRequest) { using (Stream stream = webRequest.GetRequestStream()) { soapEnvelopeXml.Save(stream); } } This code i have seen somewhere in stack overflow before as an answer but i couldn't get it to work... The error im getting is threw exception System.net.webexception. the remote server returned an error :(500) internal server Thanks

  • A DirectoryCatalog class for Silverlight MEF (Managed Extensibility Framework)

    - by Dixin
    In the MEF (Managed Extension Framework) for .NET, there are useful ComposablePartCatalog implementations in System.ComponentModel.Composition.dll, like: System.ComponentModel.Composition.Hosting.AggregateCatalog System.ComponentModel.Composition.Hosting.AssemblyCatalog System.ComponentModel.Composition.Hosting.DirectoryCatalog System.ComponentModel.Composition.Hosting.TypeCatalog While in Silverlight, there is a extra System.ComponentModel.Composition.Hosting.DeploymentCatalog. As a wrapper of AssemblyCatalog, it can load all assemblies in a XAP file in the web server side. Unfortunately, in silverlight there is no DirectoryCatalog to load a folder. Background There are scenarios that Silverlight application may need to load all XAP files in a folder in the web server side, for example: If the Silverlight application is extensible and supports plug-ins, there would be a /ClinetBin/Plugins/ folder in the web server, and each pluin would be an individual XAP file in the folder. In this scenario, after the application is loaded and started up, it would like to load all XAP files in /ClinetBin/Plugins/ folder. If the aplication supports themes, there would be a /ClinetBin/Themes/ folder, and each theme would be an individual XAP file too. The application would qalso need to load all XAP files in /ClinetBin/Themes/. It is useful if we have a DirectoryCatalog: DirectoryCatalog catalog = new DirectoryCatalog("/Plugins"); catalog.DownloadCompleted += (sender, e) => { }; catalog.DownloadAsync(); Obviously, the implementation of DirectoryCatalog is easy. It is just a collection of DeploymentCatalog class. Retrieve file list from a directory Of course, to retrieve file list from a web folder, the folder’s “Directory Browsing” feature must be enabled: So when the folder is requested, it responses a list of its files and folders: This is nothing but a simple HTML page: <html> <head> <title>localhost - /Folder/</title> </head> <body> <h1>localhost - /Folder/</h1> <hr> <pre> <a href="/">[To Parent Directory]</a><br> <br> 1/3/2011 7:22 PM 185 <a href="/Folder/File.txt">File.txt</a><br> 1/3/2011 7:22 PM &lt;dir&gt; <a href="/Folder/Folder/">Folder</a><br> </pre> <hr> </body> </html> For the ASP.NET Deployment Server of Visual Studio, directory browsing is enabled by default: The HTML <Body> is almost the same: <body bgcolor="white"> <h2><i>Directory Listing -- /ClientBin/</i></h2> <hr width="100%" size="1" color="silver"> <pre> <a href="/">[To Parent Directory]</a> Thursday, January 27, 2011 11:51 PM 282,538 <a href="Test.xap">Test.xap</a> Tuesday, January 04, 2011 02:06 AM &lt;dir&gt; <a href="TestFolder/">TestFolder</a> </pre> <hr width="100%" size="1" color="silver"> <b>Version Information:</b>&nbsp;ASP.NET Development Server 10.0.0.0 </body> The only difference is, IIS’s links start with slash, but here the links do not. Here one way to get the file list is read the href attributes of the links: [Pure] private IEnumerable<Uri> GetFilesFromDirectory(string html) { Contract.Requires(html != null); Contract.Ensures(Contract.Result<IEnumerable<Uri>>() != null); return new Regex( "<a href=\"(?<uriRelative>[^\"]*)\">[^<]*</a>", RegexOptions.IgnoreCase | RegexOptions.CultureInvariant) .Matches(html) .OfType<Match>() .Where(match => match.Success) .Select(match => match.Groups["uriRelative"].Value) .Where(uriRelative => uriRelative.EndsWith(".xap", StringComparison.Ordinal)) .Select(uriRelative => { Uri baseUri = this.Uri.IsAbsoluteUri ? this.Uri : new Uri(Application.Current.Host.Source, this.Uri); uriRelative = uriRelative.StartsWith("/", StringComparison.Ordinal) ? uriRelative : (baseUri.LocalPath.EndsWith("/", StringComparison.Ordinal) ? baseUri.LocalPath + uriRelative : baseUri.LocalPath + "/" + uriRelative); return new Uri(baseUri, uriRelative); }); } Please notice the folders’ links end with a slash. They are filtered by the second Where() query. The above method can find files’ URIs from the specified IIS folder, or ASP.NET Deployment Server folder while debugging. To support other formats of file list, a constructor is needed to pass into a customized method: /// <summary> /// Initializes a new instance of the <see cref="T:System.ComponentModel.Composition.Hosting.DirectoryCatalog" /> class with <see cref="T:System.ComponentModel.Composition.Primitives.ComposablePartDefinition" /> objects based on all the XAP files in the specified directory URI. /// </summary> /// <param name="uri"> /// URI to the directory to scan for XAPs to add to the catalog. /// The URI must be absolute, or relative to <see cref="P:System.Windows.Interop.SilverlightHost.Source" />. /// </param> /// <param name="getFilesFromDirectory"> /// The method to find files' URIs in the specified directory. /// </param> public DirectoryCatalog(Uri uri, Func<string, IEnumerable<Uri>> getFilesFromDirectory) { Contract.Requires(uri != null); this._uri = uri; this._getFilesFromDirectory = getFilesFromDirectory ?? this.GetFilesFromDirectory; this._webClient = new Lazy<WebClient>(() => new WebClient()); // Initializes other members. } When the getFilesFromDirectory parameter is null, the above GetFilesFromDirectory() method will be used as default. Download the directory’s XAP file list Now a public method can be created to start the downloading: /// <summary> /// Begins downloading the XAP files in the directory. /// </summary> public void DownloadAsync() { this.ThrowIfDisposed(); if (Interlocked.CompareExchange(ref this._state, State.DownloadStarted, State.Created) == 0) { this._webClient.Value.OpenReadCompleted += this.HandleOpenReadCompleted; this._webClient.Value.OpenReadAsync(this.Uri, this); } else { this.MutateStateOrThrow(State.DownloadCompleted, State.Initialized); this.OnDownloadCompleted(new AsyncCompletedEventArgs(null, false, this)); } } Here the HandleOpenReadCompleted() method is invoked when the file list HTML is downloaded. Download all XAP files After retrieving all files’ URIs, the next thing becomes even easier. HandleOpenReadCompleted() just uses built in DeploymentCatalog to download the XAPs, and aggregate them into one AggregateCatalog: private void HandleOpenReadCompleted(object sender, OpenReadCompletedEventArgs e) { Exception error = e.Error; bool cancelled = e.Cancelled; if (Interlocked.CompareExchange(ref this._state, State.DownloadCompleted, State.DownloadStarted) != State.DownloadStarted) { cancelled = true; } if (error == null && !cancelled) { try { using (StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(e.Result)) { string html = reader.ReadToEnd(); IEnumerable<Uri> uris = this._getFilesFromDirectory(html); Contract.Assume(uris != null); IEnumerable<DeploymentCatalog> deploymentCatalogs = uris.Select(uri => new DeploymentCatalog(uri)); deploymentCatalogs.ForEach( deploymentCatalog => { this._aggregateCatalog.Catalogs.Add(deploymentCatalog); deploymentCatalog.DownloadCompleted += this.HandleDownloadCompleted; }); deploymentCatalogs.ForEach(deploymentCatalog => deploymentCatalog.DownloadAsync()); } } catch (Exception exception) { error = new InvalidOperationException(Resources.InvalidOperationException_ErrorReadingDirectory, exception); } } // Exception handling. } In HandleDownloadCompleted(), if all XAPs are downloaded without exception, OnDownloadCompleted() callback method will be invoked. private void HandleDownloadCompleted(object sender, AsyncCompletedEventArgs e) { if (Interlocked.Increment(ref this._downloaded) == this._aggregateCatalog.Catalogs.Count) { this.OnDownloadCompleted(e); } } Exception handling Whether this DirectoryCatelog can work only if the directory browsing feature is enabled. It is important to inform caller when directory cannot be browsed for XAP downloading. private void HandleOpenReadCompleted(object sender, OpenReadCompletedEventArgs e) { Exception error = e.Error; bool cancelled = e.Cancelled; if (Interlocked.CompareExchange(ref this._state, State.DownloadCompleted, State.DownloadStarted) != State.DownloadStarted) { cancelled = true; } if (error == null && !cancelled) { try { // No exception thrown when browsing directory. Downloads the listed XAPs. } catch (Exception exception) { error = new InvalidOperationException(Resources.InvalidOperationException_ErrorReadingDirectory, exception); } } WebException webException = error as WebException; if (webException != null) { HttpWebResponse webResponse = webException.Response as HttpWebResponse; if (webResponse != null) { // Internally, WebClient uses WebRequest.Create() to create the WebRequest object. Here does the same thing. WebRequest request = WebRequest.Create(Application.Current.Host.Source); Contract.Assume(request != null); if (request.CreatorInstance == WebRequestCreator.ClientHttp && // Silverlight is in client HTTP handling, all HTTP status codes are supported. webResponse.StatusCode == HttpStatusCode.Forbidden) { // When directory browsing is disabled, the HTTP status code is 403 (forbidden). error = new InvalidOperationException( Resources.InvalidOperationException_ErrorListingDirectory_ClientHttp, webException); } else if (request.CreatorInstance == WebRequestCreator.BrowserHttp && // Silverlight is in browser HTTP handling, only 200 and 404 are supported. webResponse.StatusCode == HttpStatusCode.NotFound) { // When directory browsing is disabled, the HTTP status code is 404 (not found). error = new InvalidOperationException( Resources.InvalidOperationException_ErrorListingDirectory_BrowserHttp, webException); } } } this.OnDownloadCompleted(new AsyncCompletedEventArgs(error, cancelled, this)); } Please notice Silverlight 3+ application can work either in client HTTP handling, or browser HTTP handling. One difference is: In browser HTTP handling, only HTTP status code 200 (OK) and 404 (not OK, including 500, 403, etc.) are supported In client HTTP handling, all HTTP status code are supported So in above code, exceptions in 2 modes are handled differently. Conclusion Here is the whole DirectoryCatelog’s looking: Please click here to download the source code, a simple unit test is included. This is a rough implementation. And, for convenience, some design and coding are just following the built in AggregateCatalog class and Deployment class. Please feel free to modify the code, and please kindly tell me if any issue is found.

  • Using an alternate JSON Serializer in ASP.NET Web API

    - by Rick Strahl
    The new ASP.NET Web API that Microsoft released alongside MVC 4.0 Beta last week is a great framework for building REST and AJAX APIs. I've been working with it for quite a while now and I really like the way it works and the complete set of features it provides 'in the box'. It's about time that Microsoft gets a decent API for building generic HTTP endpoints into the framework. DataContractJsonSerializer sucks As nice as Web API's overall design is one thing still sucks: The built-in JSON Serialization uses the DataContractJsonSerializer which is just too limiting for many scenarios. The biggest issues I have with it are: No support for untyped values (object, dynamic, Anonymous Types) MS AJAX style Date Formatting Ugly serialization formats for types like Dictionaries To me the most serious issue is dealing with serialization of untyped objects. I have number of applications with AJAX front ends that dynamically reformat data from business objects to fit a specific message format that certain UI components require. The most common scenario I have there are IEnumerable query results from a database with fields from the result set rearranged to fit the sometimes unconventional formats required for the UI components (like jqGrid for example). Creating custom types to fit these messages seems like overkill and projections using Linq makes this much easier to code up. Alas DataContractJsonSerializer doesn't support it. Neither does DataContractSerializer for XML output for that matter. What this means is that you can't do stuff like this in Web API out of the box:public object GetAnonymousType() { return new { name = "Rick", company = "West Wind", entered= DateTime.Now }; } Basically anything that doesn't have an explicit type DataContractJsonSerializer will not let you return. FWIW, the same is true for XmlSerializer which also doesn't work with non-typed values for serialization. The example above is obviously contrived with a hardcoded object graph, but it's not uncommon to get dynamic values returned from queries that have anonymous types for their result projections. Apparently there's a good possibility that Microsoft will ship Json.NET as part of Web API RTM release.  Scott Hanselman confirmed this as a footnote in his JSON Dates post a few days ago. I've heard several other people from Microsoft confirm that Json.NET will be included and be the default JSON serializer, but no details yet in what capacity it will show up. Let's hope it ends up as the default in the box. Meanwhile this post will show you how you can use it today with the beta and get JSON that matches what you should see in the RTM version. What about JsonValue? To be fair Web API DOES include a new JsonValue/JsonObject/JsonArray type that allow you to address some of these scenarios. JsonValue is a new type in the System.Json assembly that can be used to build up an object graph based on a dictionary. It's actually a really cool implementation of a dynamic type that allows you to create an object graph and spit it out to JSON without having to create .NET type first. JsonValue can also receive a JSON string and parse it without having to actually load it into a .NET type (which is something that's been missing in the core framework). This is really useful if you get a JSON result from an arbitrary service and you don't want to explicitly create a mapping type for the data returned. For serialization you can create an object structure on the fly and pass it back as part of an Web API action method like this:public JsonValue GetJsonValue() { dynamic json = new JsonObject(); json.name = "Rick"; json.company = "West Wind"; json.entered = DateTime.Now; dynamic address = new JsonObject(); address.street = "32 Kaiea"; address.zip = "96779"; json.address = address; dynamic phones = new JsonArray(); json.phoneNumbers = phones; dynamic phone = new JsonObject(); phone.type = "Home"; phone.number = "808 123-1233"; phones.Add(phone); phone = new JsonObject(); phone.type = "Home"; phone.number = "808 123-1233"; phones.Add(phone); //var jsonString = json.ToString(); return json; } which produces the following output (formatted here for easier reading):{ name: "rick", company: "West Wind", entered: "2012-03-08T15:33:19.673-10:00", address: { street: "32 Kaiea", zip: "96779" }, phoneNumbers: [ { type: "Home", number: "808 123-1233" }, { type: "Mobile", number: "808 123-1234" }] } If you need to build a simple JSON type on the fly these types work great. But if you have an existing type - or worse a query result/list that's already formatted JsonValue et al. become a pain to work with. As far as I can see there's no way to just throw an object instance at JsonValue and have it convert into JsonValue dictionary. It's a manual process. Using alternate Serializers in Web API So, currently the default serializer in WebAPI is DataContractJsonSeriaizer and I don't like it. You may not either, but luckily you can swap the serializer fairly easily. If you'd rather use the JavaScriptSerializer built into System.Web.Extensions or Json.NET today, it's not too difficult to create a custom MediaTypeFormatter that uses these serializers and can replace or partially replace the native serializer. Here's a MediaTypeFormatter implementation using the ASP.NET JavaScriptSerializer:using System; using System.Net.Http.Formatting; using System.Threading.Tasks; using System.Web.Script.Serialization; using System.Json; using System.IO; namespace Westwind.Web.WebApi { public class JavaScriptSerializerFormatter : MediaTypeFormatter { public JavaScriptSerializerFormatter() { SupportedMediaTypes.Add(new System.Net.Http.Headers.MediaTypeHeaderValue("application/json")); } protected override bool CanWriteType(Type type) { // don't serialize JsonValue structure use default for that if (type == typeof(JsonValue) || type == typeof(JsonObject) || type== typeof(JsonArray) ) return false; return true; } protected override bool CanReadType(Type type) { if (type == typeof(IKeyValueModel)) return false; return true; } protected override System.Threading.Tasks.Taskobject OnReadFromStreamAsync(Type type, System.IO.Stream stream, System.Net.Http.Headers.HttpContentHeaders contentHeaders, FormatterContext formatterContext) { var task = Taskobject.Factory.StartNew(() = { var ser = new JavaScriptSerializer(); string json; using (var sr = new StreamReader(stream)) { json = sr.ReadToEnd(); sr.Close(); } object val = ser.Deserialize(json,type); return val; }); return task; } protected override System.Threading.Tasks.Task OnWriteToStreamAsync(Type type, object value, System.IO.Stream stream, System.Net.Http.Headers.HttpContentHeaders contentHeaders, FormatterContext formatterContext, System.Net.TransportContext transportContext) { var task = Task.Factory.StartNew( () = { var ser = new JavaScriptSerializer(); var json = ser.Serialize(value); byte[] buf = System.Text.Encoding.Default.GetBytes(json); stream.Write(buf,0,buf.Length); stream.Flush(); }); return task; } } } Formatter implementation is pretty simple: You override 4 methods to tell which types you can handle and then handle the input or output streams to create/parse the JSON data. Note that when creating output you want to take care to still allow JsonValue/JsonObject/JsonArray types to be handled by the default serializer so those objects serialize properly - if you let either JavaScriptSerializer or JSON.NET handle them they'd try to render the dictionaries which is very undesirable. If you'd rather use Json.NET here's the JSON.NET version of the formatter:// this code requires a reference to JSON.NET in your project #if true using System; using System.Net.Http.Formatting; using System.Threading.Tasks; using System.Web.Script.Serialization; using System.Json; using Newtonsoft.Json; using System.IO; using Newtonsoft.Json.Converters; namespace Westwind.Web.WebApi { public class JsonNetFormatter : MediaTypeFormatter { public JsonNetFormatter() { SupportedMediaTypes.Add(new System.Net.Http.Headers.MediaTypeHeaderValue("application/json")); } protected override bool CanWriteType(Type type) { // don't serialize JsonValue structure use default for that if (type == typeof(JsonValue) || type == typeof(JsonObject) || type == typeof(JsonArray)) return false; return true; } protected override bool CanReadType(Type type) { if (type == typeof(IKeyValueModel)) return false; return true; } protected override System.Threading.Tasks.Taskobject OnReadFromStreamAsync(Type type, System.IO.Stream stream, System.Net.Http.Headers.HttpContentHeaders contentHeaders, FormatterContext formatterContext) { var task = Taskobject.Factory.StartNew(() = { var settings = new JsonSerializerSettings() { NullValueHandling = NullValueHandling.Ignore, }; var sr = new StreamReader(stream); var jreader = new JsonTextReader(sr); var ser = new JsonSerializer(); ser.Converters.Add(new IsoDateTimeConverter()); object val = ser.Deserialize(jreader, type); return val; }); return task; } protected override System.Threading.Tasks.Task OnWriteToStreamAsync(Type type, object value, System.IO.Stream stream, System.Net.Http.Headers.HttpContentHeaders contentHeaders, FormatterContext formatterContext, System.Net.TransportContext transportContext) { var task = Task.Factory.StartNew( () = { var settings = new JsonSerializerSettings() { NullValueHandling = NullValueHandling.Ignore, }; string json = JsonConvert.SerializeObject(value, Formatting.Indented, new JsonConverter[1] { new IsoDateTimeConverter() } ); byte[] buf = System.Text.Encoding.Default.GetBytes(json); stream.Write(buf,0,buf.Length); stream.Flush(); }); return task; } } } #endif   One advantage of the Json.NET serializer is that you can specify a few options on how things are formatted and handled. You get null value handling and you can plug in the IsoDateTimeConverter which is nice to product proper ISO dates that I would expect any Json serializer to output these days. Hooking up the Formatters Once you've created the custom formatters you need to enable them for your Web API application. To do this use the GlobalConfiguration.Configuration object and add the formatter to the Formatters collection. Here's what this looks like hooked up from Application_Start in a Web project:protected void Application_Start(object sender, EventArgs e) { // Action based routing (used for RPC calls) RouteTable.Routes.MapHttpRoute( name: "StockApi", routeTemplate: "stocks/{action}/{symbol}", defaults: new { symbol = RouteParameter.Optional, controller = "StockApi" } ); // WebApi Configuration to hook up formatters and message handlers // optional RegisterApis(GlobalConfiguration.Configuration); } public static void RegisterApis(HttpConfiguration config) { // Add JavaScriptSerializer formatter instead - add at top to make default //config.Formatters.Insert(0, new JavaScriptSerializerFormatter()); // Add Json.net formatter - add at the top so it fires first! // This leaves the old one in place so JsonValue/JsonObject/JsonArray still are handled config.Formatters.Insert(0, new JsonNetFormatter()); } One thing to remember here is the GlobalConfiguration object which is Web API's static configuration instance. I think this thing is seriously misnamed given that GlobalConfiguration could stand for anything and so is hard to discover if you don't know what you're looking for. How about WebApiConfiguration or something more descriptive? Anyway, once you know what it is you can use the Formatters collection to insert your custom formatter. Note that I insert my formatter at the top of the list so it takes precedence over the default formatter. I also am not removing the old formatter because I still want JsonValue/JsonObject/JsonArray to be handled by the default serialization mechanism. Since they process in sequence and I exclude processing for these types JsonValue et al. still get properly serialized/deserialized. Summary Currently DataContractJsonSerializer in Web API is a pain, but at least we have the ability with relatively limited effort to replace the MediaTypeFormatter and plug in our own JSON serializer. This is useful for many scenarios - if you have existing client applications that used MVC JsonResult or ASP.NET AJAX results from ASMX AJAX services you can plug in the JavaScript serializer and get exactly the same serializer you used in the past so your results will be the same and don't potentially break clients. JSON serializers do vary a bit in how they serialize some of the more complex types (like Dictionaries and dates for example) and so if you're migrating it might be helpful to ensure your client code doesn't break when you switch to ASP.NET Web API. Going forward it looks like Microsoft is planning on plugging in Json.Net into Web API and make that the default. I think that's an awesome choice since Json.net has been around forever, is fast and easy to use and provides a ton of functionality as part of this great library. I just wish Microsoft would have figured this out sooner instead of now at the last minute integrating with it especially given that Json.Net has a similar set of lower level JSON objects JsonValue/JsonObject etc. which now will end up being duplicated by the native System.Json stuff. It's not like we don't already have enough confusion regarding which JSON serializer to use (JavaScriptSerializer, DataContractJsonSerializer, JsonValue/JsonObject/JsonArray and now Json.net). For years I've been using my own JSON serializer because the built in choices are both limited. However, with an official encorsement of Json.Net I'm happily moving on to use that in my applications. • Problem deserializing xml file

    - by Andy
    I auto generated an xsd file from the below xml and used xsd2code to get a c# class. The problem is the entire xml doesn't deserialize. Here is how I'm attempting to deserialize: static void Main(string[] args) { using (TextReader textReader = new StreamReader("config.xml")) { // string temp = textReader.ReadToEnd(); XmlSerializer deserializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(project)); project p = (project)deserializer.Deserialize(textReader); } } here is the actual XML: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <project> <scm class="hudson.scm.SubversionSCM"> <locations> <hudson.scm.SubversionSCM_-ModuleLocation> <remote>https://svn.xxx.com/test/Validation/CPS DRTest DLL/trunk</remote> </hudson.scm.SubversionSCM_-ModuleLocation> </locations> <useUpdate>false</useUpdate> <browser class="hudson.scm.browsers.FishEyeSVN"> <url>http://fisheye.xxxx.net/browse/Test/</url> <rootModule>Test</rootModule> </browser> <excludedCommitMessages></excludedCommitMessages> </scm> <openf>Hello there</openf> <buildWrappers/> </project> When I run the above, the locations node remains null.   • Asp.net Google Charts SSL handler for GeoMap

    - by Ian
    Hi All, I am trying to view Google charts in a site using SSL. Google Charts do not support SSL so if we use the standard charts, we get warning messages. My plan is to create a ASHX handler that is co9ntained in the secure site that will retrieve the content from Google and serve this to the page the user is viewing. Using VS 2008 SP1 and the included web server, my idea works perfectly for both Firefox and IE 8 & 9(Preview) and I am able to see my geomap displayed on my page as it should be. But my problem is when I publish to IIS7 the page using my handler to generate the geomap works in Firefox but not IE(every version). There are no errors anywhere or in any log files, but when i right click in IE in the area where the map should be displayed, I see the message in the context menu saying "movie not loaded" Below is the code from my handler and the aspx page. I have disabled compression in my web.config. Even in IE I am hitting all my break points and when I use the IE9 Developer tools, the web page is correctly generated with all the correct code, url's and references. If you have any better ways to accomplish this or how i can fix my problem, I will appreciate it. Thanks Ian Handler(ASHX) public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { String url = "http://charts.apis.google.com/jsapi"; string query = context.Request.QueryString.ToString(); if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(query)) { url = query; } HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create(new Uri(HttpUtility.UrlDecode(url))); request.UserAgent = context.Request.UserAgent; WebResponse response = request.GetResponse(); string PageContent = string.Empty; StreamReader Reader; Stream webStream = response.GetResponseStream(); string contentType = response.ContentType; context.Response.BufferOutput = true; context.Response.ContentType = contentType; context.Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache); context.Response.Cache.SetNoServerCaching(); context.Response.Cache.SetMaxAge(System.TimeSpan.Zero); string newUrl = IanLearning.Properties.Settings.Default.HandlerURL; //"https://localhost:444/googlesecurecharts.ashx?"; if (response.ContentType.Contains("javascript")) { Reader = new StreamReader(webStream); PageContent = Reader.ReadToEnd(); PageContent = PageContent.Replace("http://", newUrl + "http://"); PageContent = PageContent.Replace("charts.apis.google.com", newUrl + "charts.apis.google.com"); PageContent = PageContent.Replace(newUrl + "http://maps.google.com/maps/api/", "http://maps.google.com/maps/api/"); context.Response.Write(PageContent); } else { { byte[] bytes = ReadFully(webStream); context.Response.BinaryWrite(bytes); } } context.Response.Flush(); response.Close(); webStream.Close(); context.Response.End(); context.ApplicationInstance.CompleteRequest(); } ASPX Page <%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Site2.Master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="googlechart.aspx.cs" Inherits="IanLearning.googlechart" %> <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="head" runat="server"> <script type='text/javascript' src='~/googlesecurecharts.ashx?'></script> <script type='text/javascript'> google.load('visualization', '1', { 'packages': ['geomap'] }); google.setOnLoadCallback(drawMap); var geomap; function drawMap() { var data = new google.visualization.DataTable(); data.addRows(6); data.addColumn('string', 'City'); data.addColumn('number', 'Sales'); data.setValue(0, 0, 'ZA'); data.setValue(0, 1, 200); data.setValue(1, 0, 'US'); data.setValue(1, 1, 300); data.setValue(2, 0, 'BR'); data.setValue(2, 1, 400); data.setValue(3, 0, 'CN'); data.setValue(3, 1, 500); data.setValue(4, 0, 'IN'); data.setValue(4, 1, 600); data.setValue(5, 0, 'ZW'); data.setValue(5, 1, 700); var options = {}; options['region'] = 'world'; options['dataMode'] = 'regions'; options['showZoomOut'] = false; var container = document.getElementById('map_canvas'); geomap = new google.visualization.GeoMap(container); google.visualization.events.addListener( geomap, 'regionClick', function(e) { drillDown(e['region']); }); geomap.draw(data, options); }; function drillDown(regionData) { alert(regionData); } </script> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" runat="server"> <div id='map_canvas'> </div> </asp:Content>
