  • SSRS Tablix Header Row Formatting

    - by tnriverfish
I've got several reports and they have been built with various formatting. Nothing huge just the header row is different between them. I'd like to pick a standard and just update the reports so they all look the same. This can be done on a textbox by textbox basis - setting the font, font color, font size and background color. It seems like I should be able to select more than one textbox and set the formatting on them all at once but the "textbox properties" item is disabled when I've selected more than one. Any thoughts?

  • Formatting my String

    - by pringlesinn
I need to write currency values like $35.40 (thirty five dollars and forty cents) and after that, i want to write some "****" so at the end it will be: thirty five dollars and forty cents********* in a maximun of 100 characters I've asked a question about something very likely but I couldn't understand the main command. String format = String.format("%%-%ds", 100); String valorPorExtenso = String.format(format, new Extenso(tituloTO.getValor()).toString()); What do I need to change on format to put *** at the end of my sentence? The way it is now it puts spaces.

  • handle null values for string when implementing IXmlSerializable interface

    - by user208081
    I have the following class that implements IXmlSerializable. When implementing WriteXml(), I need to handle the case where the string members of this class may be null values. What is the best way of handling this? Currently, I am using the default constructor in which all the string properties are initialized to empty string values. This way, when WriteXml() is called, the string will not be null. One other way I could do this is check using String.IsNullOrEmpty before writing each string in xml. Any suggestions on how I can improve this code? using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Xml.Serialization; using System.Globalization; namespace TCS.Common.InformationObjects { public sealed class FaxSender : IXmlSerializable { #region Public Constants private const string DEFAULT_CLASS_NAME = "FaxSender"; #endregion Public Constants #region Public Properties public string Name { get; set; } public string Organization { get; set; } public string PhoneNumber { get; set; } public string FaxNumber { get; set; } public string EmailAddress { get; set; } #endregion Public Properties #region Public Methods #region Constructors public FaxSender() { Name = String.Empty; Organization = String.Empty; PhoneNumber = String.Empty; FaxNumber = String.Empty; EmailAddress = String.Empty; } public FaxSender(string name, string organization, string phoneNumber, string faxNumber, string emailAddress) { Name = name; Organization = organization; PhoneNumber = phoneNumber; FaxNumber = faxNumber; EmailAddress = emailAddress; } #endregion Constructors #region IXmlSerializable Members public System.Xml.Schema.XmlSchema GetSchema() { throw new NotImplementedException(); } public void ReadXml(System.Xml.XmlReader reader) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } public void WriteXml(System.Xml.XmlWriter xmlWriter) { try { // <sender> xmlWriter.WriteStartElement("sender"); // Write the name of the sender as an element. xmlWriter.WriteElementString("name", this.Name.ToString(CultureInfo.CurrentCulture)); // Write the organization of the sender as an element. xmlWriter.WriteElementString("organization", this.Organization.ToString(CultureInfo.CurrentCulture)); // Write the phone number of the sender as an element. xmlWriter.WriteElementString("phone_number", this.PhoneNumber.ToString(CultureInfo.CurrentCulture)); // Write the fax number of the sender as an element. xmlWriter.WriteElementString("fax_number", this.FaxNumber.ToString(CultureInfo.CurrentCulture)); // Write the email address of the sender as an element. xmlWriter.WriteElementString("email_address", this.EmailAddress.ToString(CultureInfo.CurrentCulture)); // </sender> xmlWriter.WriteEndElement(); } catch { // Rethrow any exceptions. throw; } } #endregion IXmlSerializable Members #endregion Public Methods } }

  • Determining Whether a String Is Contained Within a String Array (Case Insensitive)

About once every couple of months I need to write a bit of code that does one thing if a particular string is found within an array of strings and something else if it is not ignoring differences in case. For whatever reason, I never seem to remember the code snippet to accomplish this, so after spending 10 minutes of research today I thought I'd write it down here in an effort to help commit it to memory or, at the very least, serve as a quick place to find the answer when the need arises again. So without further adieu, here it is:Visual Basic Version:If stringArrayName.Contains("valueToLookFor", StringComparer.OrdinalIgnoreCase) Then ... Else ... End IfC# Version:if (stringArrayName.Contains("valueToLookFor", StringComparer.OrdinalIgnoreCase)) ... else ...Without the StringComparer.OrdinalIgnoreCase the search will be case-sensitive. • How Do I Remove The First 4 Characters From A String If It Matches A Pattern In Ruby

    - by James
I have the following string: "h3. My Title Goes Here" I basically want to remove the first 4 characters from the string so that I just get back: "My Title Goes Here". The thing is I am iterating over an array of strings and not all have the h3. part in front so I can't just ditch the first 4 characters blindly. I have checked the docs and the closest think I could find was chomp, but that only works for the end of a string. Right now I am doing this: "h3. My Title Goes Here".reverse.chomp(" .3h").reverse This gives me my desired output, but there has to be a better way right? I mean I don't want to reverse a string twice for no reason. I am new to programming so I might have missed something obvious, but I didn't see the opposite of chomp anywhere in the docs. Is there another method that will work? Thanks!

  • Formatting Field Declarations in Eclipse

    - by geeko
Greetings Overflowers, Problem: public abstract class Filter { private long id; protected String expression; } how can I align fields automatically in Eclipse, such in: public abstract class Filter { private long id; protected String expression; } Note the space before long, thank you ! UPDATE: I cannot find a customization option to align types of class members (e.g.: long and String) under Eclipse formatter options. Yes, there is one to align names of class members (e.g.: id and expression) but not their types. Please, take a lock at this issue in my examples above. Any solution ?

  • SQL code editor with syntax highlighing, auto-formatting and code folding

    - by Victor Stanciu
Hello, Is there any SQL editor that supports syntax highlighting, automatic code formatting and code folding? I found this, but it's an Eclipse plugin (I'm a NetBeans user), and cannot automatically format code, which is the most important feature I'm after. Autocompletion is not important, nor is the possibility of running the code (like the SQL editor in NetBeans). Edit: I'm sorry for not specifying, I'm looking for Linux or even web-based software.

  • Conditional Formatting in Excel

    - by littlevahn
I'm very new to Excel and VBA and was wondering if there is a way I could make conditional formatting based on values in a drop down list. I currently have a warning if the user enters something that is not valid (data validation), but I want to change the cell's background color to red if invalid, or green if valid. Again the options I want to test against are in a Listbox.

  • Java API for source formatting

  • Formatting currency within a specific precision range

    - by Alex Prose
I am trying to format currency that will always contain 2 decimal digits, but if there are extra digits of accuracy to display up to five. As an example: for value = 5.0 display: $5.00 for value = 5.023 display: $5.023 for value = 5.333333333333333 display: $5.33333 I have been playing with the .ToString() formatting, but I can't seem to find the right match of options. Clarification: I want to show from 2-5 decimals, truncating zeros after the second digit. for value = 5.000000000000000 display: $5.00 for value = 5.333333333333333 display: $5.33333

  • How to find first non-repetitive character from a string?

    - by masato-san
    I've spent half day trying to figure out this and finally I got working solution. However, I feel like this can be done in simpler way. I think this code is not really readable. Problem: Find first non-repetitive character from a string. $string = "abbcabz" In this case, the function should output "c". The reason I use concatenation instead of $input[index_to_remove] = '' in order to remove character from a given string is because if I do that, it actually just leave empty cell so that my return value $input[0] does not not return the character I want to return. For instance, $str = "abc"; $str[0] = ''; echo $str; This will output "bc" But actually if I test, var_dump($str); it will give me: string(3) "bc" Here is my intention: Given: input while first char exists in substring of input { get index_to_remove input = chars left of index_to_remove . chars right of index_to_remove if dupe of first char is not found from substring remove first char from input } return first char of input Code: function find_first_non_repetitive2($input) { while(strpos(substr($input, 1), $input[0]) !== false) { $index_to_remove = strpos(substr($input,1), $input[0]) + 1; $input = substr($input, 0, $index_to_remove) . substr($input, $index_to_remove + 1); if(strpos(substr($input, 1), $input[0]) == false) { $input = substr($input, 1); } } return $input[0]; }

  • ActiveReports Conditional Formatting - Picture Visibility

    - by Joe
In ActiveReports, how can I change formatting based on values in the report data? Specifically, I want to show or hide pictures based on a value in the data. The report gets bound to a list of objects via a set to its DataSource property. These objects have a Condition property with values "Poor", "Normal", etc. I have some pictures in the report that correspond to the different conditions, and I want to hide all the pictures except for the one corresponding to the value. Should I subscribe to the Format event for the detail section? If so, how do I get to the "current record" data?

  • How to format a string to camel case in XSLT?

    - by DBA_Alex
I'm trying to format strings in XSLT that needs to be in camel case to be used appropriately for the application I'm working with. For example: this_text would become ThisText this_long_text would become ThisLongText Is it possible to also set this up where I can send an input to the format so I do not have to recreate the format multiple times?

  • as3 formatting a textfield

    - by duckofrubber
Hi, I'm dynamically creating textfields in as3, and formatting them with the TextFormat class. I'm having some issues though with selecting the exact "style" of font to apply to the textfields. My code so far looks like: formatT = new TextFormat( ); formatT.bold = false; formatT.color = 0x000000; formatT.font = "TradeGothic"; formatT.size = 16; var textItem = new TextField(); textItem.text = "foobar"; textItem.setTextFormat(formatT); addChild(textItem); This works ("Trade Gothic" is applied to the enclosed text), however I can't figure out how to apply a specific style of "Trade Gothic", for instance "Light Oblique". Is there some way that I can specify this using the TextFormat class? Thanks.

  • Formatting code snippets for blogging on Blogger

    - by nzpcmad
My blog is hosted on Blogger and I frequently post code snippets in C / C# / Java / XML etc. but I find the snippet gets "mangled". Are there any web sites that I could use to parse the snippet beforehand and sort out the formatting, convert XML "<" to "<" etc. There are a numbers of questions around this area on SO but I couldn't find any that address this question directly. Edit: For @Rich answer, site states "To display the formatted code on your site, you need to get this CSS stylesheet, and add a reference to it in the section of your page". That's the problem - you can't do this on Blogger AFAIK.

  • ReportViewer Cell Formatting

    - by firedrawndagger
I need to change the color of a cell in ReportViewer based on its value. 1) I got the first part down - I'm comparing the difference between two numbers like so: =IIf(Fields!variance.Value > 0) 2) Now how do I actually change the visual formatting of the cell? A web standards way would be to add a class - since then you can format the class to whatever you like, e.g. changing borders, typography, bacgkround color etc. Since ReportViewer sucks and doesn't have that functionality what should I use instead? Any hacks I could use?

Im setting up a web form, and I'm trying to have it where visitors can paste their resumes into a text area. Then I want to email the info using php mail(). But the resume info is just stored in the variable as one long string with no formatting. Is there a way I can send the pasted resume text to the client in the resume format? Maintaining all the line breaks and stuff? He wants to avoid having people upload resumes.

  • formatting and converting in java

    - by mike_hornbeck
I have few small basic problems : How to format : int i = 456; to give output : ""00000456" ? I've tried %08d but it's not working. Next thing is a problem with conversion and then formatting. I have side and height of triangle, let's say int's 4,7, and 7 is the height. From formula for field we know that F=1/2(a*h). So how to get F as float, with precision up to 10 places ? float f = a*h; works fine, but multiplying it by 0.5 gives error and by 1/2 returns 0.

  • JavaScript: Given an offset and substring length in an HTML string, what is the parent node?

    - by Bungle
My current project requires locating an array of strings within an element's text content, then wrapping those matching strings in <a> elements using JavaScript (requirements simplified here for clarity). I need to avoid jQuery if at all possible - at least including the full library. For example, given this block of HTML: <div> <p>This is a paragraph of text used as an example in this Stack Overflow question.</p> </div> and this array of strings to match: ['paragraph', 'example'] I would need to arrive at this: <div> <p>This is a <a href="http://www.example.com/">paragraph</a> of text used as an <a href="http://www.example.com/">example</a> in this Stack Overflow question.</p> </div> I've arrived at a solution to this by using the innerHTML() method and some string manipulation - basically using the offsets (via indexOf()) and lengths of the strings in the array to break the HTML string apart at the appropriate character offsets and insert <a href="http://www.example.com/"> and </a> tags where needed. However, an additional requirement has me stumped. I'm not allowed to wrap any matched strings in <a> elements if they're already in one, or if they're a descendant of a heading element (<h1> to <h6>). So, given the same array of strings above and this block of HTML (the term matching has to be case-insensitive, by the way): <div> <h1>Example</a> <p>This is a <a href="http://www.example.com/">paragraph of text</a> used as an example in this Stack Overflow question.</p> </div> I would need to disregard both the occurrence of "Example" in the <h1> element, and the "paragraph" in <a href="http://www.example.com/">paragraph of text</a>. This suggests to me that I have to determine which node each matched string is in, and then traverse its ancestors until I hit <body>, checking to see if I encounter a <a> or <h_> node along the way. Firstly, does this sound reasonable? Is there a simpler or more obvious approach that I've failed to consider? It doesn't seem like regular expressions or another string-based comparison to find bounding tags would be robust - I'm thinking of issues like self-closing elements, irregularly nested tags, etc. There's also this... Secondly, is this possible, and if so, how would I approach it?
