  • Get ID of clicked on element in function

    - by skerit
    I want to get the ID of an element I click on. I put the function in the onclick element, like this: <a id="myid" class="first active" onclick="markActiveLink();" href="#home">Home</a> And this is in the function: function markActiveLink() { alert($(this).attr("id")); } This doesn't work, as it says it isn't defined. Does it really forget about the ID, do I have to type it in the onclick?

  • jQuery scroll fails for iframe (firefox)

    - by knappy
    I cannot get scroll to work, here is the complete stuff: http://zed.mit.edu/scroll2/buc.php I'm trying to refresh the page while maintaining the scroll position of the iframe inside. I'd like to have an alert when I actively scroll the iframe, these two both fail: $(top).frames['#iframe_bucinid'].scroll(function() .... $('#iframe_bucinid').scroll(function() ... The page's iframe is defined as: <iframe class="inframe" src="bucin.php" name="bucin" id="iframe_bucinid"> Notice that getting the scrollTop works with top.frames['bucin'].document.body.scrollTop

  • jquery function call with parameters

    - by Kaushik Gopal
    Hi a newb question: I have a table with a bunch of buttons like so: <tr class="hr-table-cell" > <td>REcord 1</td> <td> <INPUT type="button" value="Approve" onclick="" /> <INPUT type="button" value="Reject" onclick="" /> <INPUT type="button" value="Delete" onclick="fnDeletePpAppl(222445,704);" /> </td> </tr> <tr class="hr-table-cell" > <td>REcord 1</td> <td align="center" class="hr-table-bottom-blue-border" valign="middle"> <INPUT type="button" value="Approve" onclick="" /> <INPUT type="button" value="Reject" onclick="" /> <INPUT type="button" value="Delete" onclick="fnDeletePpAppl(237760,776);" /> </td> </tr> I have my jquery like so: <script type="text/javascript"> // JQUERY stuff $(document).ready(function(){ function fnDeletePpAppl(empno, applno) { alert('Entering here'); $("form").get(0).empno.value = empno; $("form").get(0).applNo.value = applno; $("form").get(0).listPageAction.value = "delete"; $("form").get(0).action.value = "pprelreqlist.do"; $("form").get(0).submit(); } }); This doesn't seem to work.I thought this means, the function is ready only after the dom is ready. After the dom is ready and i click the button, why is not recognizing the function declaration within the .ready() function? However if i use the function directly: <script type="text/javascript"> function fnDeletePpAppl(empno, applno) { alert('Entering here'); $("form").get(0).empno.value = empno; $("form").get(0).applNo.value = applno; $("form").get(0).listPageAction.value = "delete"; $("form").get(0).action.value = "pprelreqlist.do"; $("form").get(0).submit(); } This works. I want to get my fundamentals straight here... If i do the declaration without the .ready() , does that mean i'm using plain vanilla jscript? If i were to do this with the document.ready - the usual jquery declaration way, what would i have to change to make it work? I understand there are much better ways to do this like binding with buttons etc, but I want to know why this particular way doesn't seem to be working. Thanks. Cheers. K

  • Using jQuery to gather all text nodes from a wrapped set, separated by spaces

    - by Bungle
    I'm looking for a way to gather all of the text in a jQuery wrapped set, but I need to create spaces between sibling nodes that have no text nodes between them. For example, consider this HTML: <div> <ul> <li>List item #1.</li><li>List item #2.</li><li>List item #3.</li> </ul> </div> If I simply use jQuery's text() method to gather the text content of the <div>, like such: var $div = $('div'), text = $div.text().trim(); alert(text); that produces the following text: List item #1.List item #2.List item #3. because there is no whitespace between each <li> element. What I'm actually looking for is this (note the single space between each sentence): List item #1. List item #3. List item #3. This suggest to me that I need to traverse the DOM nodes in the wrapped set, appending the text for each to a string, followed by a space. I tried the following code: var $div = $('div'), text = ''; $div.find('*').each(function() { text += $(this).text().trim() + ' '; }); alert(text); but this produced the following text: This is list item #1.This is list item #2.This is list item #3. This is list item #1. This is list item #2. This is list item #3. I assume this is because I'm iterating through every descendant of <div> and appending the text, so I'm getting the text nodes within both <ul> and each of its <li> children, leading to duplicated text. I think I could probably find/write a plain JavaScript function to recursively walk the DOM of the wrapped set, gathering and appending text nodes - but is there a simpler way to do this using jQuery? Cross-browser consistency is very important. Thanks for any help!

  • JQuery Datepicker Date highlight Issue

    - by Isola Olufemi
    I have an in-line date picker in which I want to highlight some dates based on array of strings from the server side. I found out the on load of the page with the datepicker, events the matches in the current month will not be highlighted. when I click the next month button the events on the next moth will be highlighted. What I discovered that i the matching only get highlighted when I click to the next month and not when I click back to the previous month. Below is my script: var actionCalDates = new Array(); function getDates(month, year) { $.ajax({ url: "/Index/GetAllAlerts", data: { month: month, year: year }, success: function (result) { var date = new Date(); var i = new Number(date.getMonth()); i += 1; actionCalDates = result.split(","); } }); } function getTitle(ar, d) { var result = ""; for (var i = 0; i < ar.length; i++) { if (ar[i].indexOf(d) != -1) { var e = actionCalDates[i].split(";"); result += e[0] + "\n"; } } return result; } $('#calendar').datepicker({ numberOfMonths: [1, 1], showCurrentAtPos: 0, dateFormat: 'dd/mm/y', beforeShowDay: function (thedate) { var theday = thedate.getDate(); var x = new Number(thedate.getMonth()); x += 1; var date = thedate.getDate() + "/" + x + "/" + thedate.getFullYear(); getDates(x, thedate.getFullYear()); for (var i = 0; i < actionCalDates.length; i++) { var entry = actionCalDates[i].split(";"); if (date == entry[1]) { return [true, "highlight", getTitle(actionCalDates, date)]; } } return [true, "", ""]; }, onChangeMonthYear: function (year, month, inst) { getDates(month, year); }, onSelect: function (d, instance) { $.ajax({ url: '/Index/AlertConvertDate', datatype: 'text', data: { dateString: d }, error: function (xhr, ajaxOptions, thrownError) { alert(xhr.statusText); alert(thrownError); }, success: function (data) { window.SetHomeContent(data); } }); } }); Please can someone point out where I went wrong?   • How to access child element out of children()?

    - by user291701
    Hi, I'd like to get the # of immediate children an element has, and then get the class of a child at a particular index. Something like: var index = 25; var children = $("#myListElement").children(); if (index < children.length) { if (children[index].hasClass("testClass")) { alert("hi!"); } } I think the syntax for .children() is ok, but how do I get the indexed element out of them in jquery style? Thanks

  • Keyboard problem on iPhone OS 4.0 (8A248c)

    - by Newbee
    Hi! I have view with text field -- subclassed from UIAlertView. In the textFieldShouldReturn delegate I call resignFirstResponder for text field and dismissWithClickedButtonIndex for view. On the 3.x version everything fine, but on 4.0 keyboard still present on screen after view dismissing and doesn't disappear while app running. App compiled for 3.0 target and tested on 4.0 iPhone OS. One more thing - sometimes after dismissing alert - Done button on the keyboard replaces with Return button.. Any suggestions ?

  • Httpsession with Spring 3 MVC

    - by vipul12389
    I want to use httpsession in Spring 3 MVC..i have searched all the web and got this solution..at http://forum.springsource.org/showthread.php?98850-Adding-to-stuff-to-the-session-while-using-ResponseBody Basically, My application auto authenticates user by getting winId and authorizes through LDAP..(Its a intranet site) Here is the flow of the application, 1. User enters Aplication url (http://localhost:8082/eIA_Mock_5) it has a welcome page (index.jsp) Index.jsp gets winId through jQuery and hits login.html (through Ajax) and passes windowsId login.html (Controller) authenticates through LDAP and gives back 'Valid' String as a response javascript, upon getting the correct response, redirects/loads welcome page i.e. goes to localhost:8082/eIA_Mock_5/welcome.html Now, i have filter associated with it..which checks for is session valid for each incoming request..Now the problem is even though i set data on to httpsession, yet the filter or any other controller fails to get the data through session as a result it doesnt proceeds further.. here is the code..and could you suggest what is wrong actually ?? Home_Controller.java @Controller public class Home_Controller { public static Log logger = LogFactory.getLog(Home_Controller.class); @RequestMapping(value={"/welcome"}) public ModelAndView loadWelcomePage(HttpServletRequest request,HttpServletResponse response) { ModelAndView mdv = new ModelAndView();
