  • Asp.net Web Site Administration Tool with SqlCeMembership

    - by Riderman de Sousa Barbosa
I am developing an application in MVC 3. I installed this provider via Nuget . Basically, it allows to use any part of memberships, rules and profiles with a .sdf (compact) database. I need the "Web Site Administration Tool" use this provider. But I can not use it. Already checked the web.config and everything is ok. When I open the "Web Site Administration Tool" on the Security I click test (any provider) and the error happens. The following images. Error when clicking test "Could not establish a connection to the database. If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider." Here part of my web.config <authentication mode="Forms" /> <membership> <providers> <add connectionStringName="SqlCeServices" applicationName="/" enablePasswordRetrieval="false" enablePasswordReset="true" requiresQuestionAndAnswer="false" requiresUniqueEmail="true" passwordFormat="Hashed" writeExceptionsToEventLog="false" name="SqlCeMembershipProvider" type="ErikEJ.SqlCeMembershipProvider, ErikEJ.SqlCeMembership" /> </providers> </membership> <profile enabled="false"> <providers> <clear /> <add name="SqlCeProfileProvider" type="ErikEJ.SqlCeProfileProvider" connectionStringName="SqlCeServices" applicationName="/" /> </providers> </profile> <roleManager> <providers> <add connectionStringName="SqlCeServices" applicationName="/" writeExceptionsToEventLog="false" name="SqlCeRoleProvider" type="ErikEJ.SqlCeRoleProvider, ErikEJ.SqlCeMembership" /> </providers> </roleManager> <connectionStrings> <add name="SqlCeServices" connectionString="data source=|DataDirectory|\SqlCeAspnetdb.sdf" /> </connectionStrings>

  • jquery ui css not loading and creating poblems with asp.net mvc3 page (unexpected token error)

    - by giddy
hi, So I suspect Im doing something silly, but first off, I can see that my mvc3 project already had jquery ui in it but no theme css files. I needed a date picked and as usual needed to override the EditorFor DateTime. I started off today by just using the default jquery ui js files supplied with the project under scripts. The date picker shows up fine, only with a completed messed up UI based on Site.css. So now I downloaded a build of jquery (with the start theme) and followed this page about how to put it together. Im using T4MVC so my page looks like this: Layout.cshtml : <script src="@Links.Scripts.jquery_1_4_4_js" type="text/javascript"></script> <link href="@Links.Content.Site_css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script src="@Links.Content.start.jquery_ui_1_8_7_custom_css" type="text/javascript"></script> Create.cshtml <script src="@Links.Scripts.jquery_validate_min_js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="@Links.Scripts.jquery_validate_unobtrusive_min_js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="@Links.Scripts.jquery_ui_1_8_7_custom_min_js" type="text/javascript"></script> And this is the result: Any ideas, Ive been googleing for a while now, I tried a couple combinations of where I put the script and css files tags in different places, but nothing seems to work.

  • Starting with asp.net MVC

    - by Josemalive
Hello, Actually im doing a home page that only have an action called Index() that returns the view Index.ascx. This index page will be composed by lastest news and lastest registered users, i think that create two partial views is the best idea (this way i could use it in other views). for other hand i have a data access class that calls to database for get stuff (get last news, get last users, etc...) My question is simple, should i call to the this data access class in the Index() action of my HomeController, and add to the ViewData the data obtained? I think that this index() action shouldnt be the responsable of passing this data to the partial views, right? Could you give me a hand? im messing too much? ;-) Thanks in advance. Best Regards. Jose

  • ASP.NET Bind to IEnumerable

    - by JFoulkes
    Hi, I'm passing a the type IEnumerable to my view, and for each item I output a html.textbox to enter the details into. When I post this back to my controller, the collection is empty and I can't see why. public class Item { public Order Order { get; set; } public string Title { get; set; } public double Price { get; set; } } My Get method: public ActionResult AddItems(Order order) { Item itemOne = new Item { Order = order }; Item itemTwo = new Item { Order = order, }; IList<Item> items = new List<Item> { itemOne, itemTwo }; return View(items); } The View: <% int i = 0; foreach (var item in Model) { %> <p> <label for="Title">Item Title:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("items[" + i + "].Title") %> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("items[" + i + "].Title", "*")%> </p> <p> <label for="Price">Item Price:</label> <%= Html.TextBox("items[" + i + "].Price") %> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("items[" + i + "].Price", "*")%> </p> <% i++; } %> The POST method: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult AddItems(IEnumerable<Item> items) { try { return RedirectToAction("Index"); } catch { return View(); } } At the moment i just have a breakpoint on the post method to check what i'm gettin back.

  • Anyone using ASP.NET MembershipProvider with Nhibernate?

    - by JLago
Hi, I'm trying to implement Membership controls in a mvc 2 application and i'm having trouble dealing with the MembershipUser class. I have my own data store (in Postgresql) and I'm using Nhibernate to deal with it from C#. The thing is, I have my own user class, but I can't use it with any provider I found that implements Membership, because all the functions return the predefined MembershipUser class and cannot return my own. I'm losing my mind here, is there any way i can work with this, or should I implement everything myself? thanks in advance!

  • Grails Unit testing a function with session object

    I having a Controller like def testFunction(testCommand cmdObj) { if (cmdObj.hasErrors()) { render(view: "testView", model: [cmdObj:cmdObj]) return } else { try { testService.testFunction(cmdObj.var1, cmdObj.var2, session.user.username as String) flash.message = message(code: 'message') redirect url: createLink(mapping: 'namedUrl') } catch (GeneralException error) { render(view: "testView", model: [cmdObj:cmdObj]) return } } } For the above controller function I having a Unit test function like: def "test function" () { controller.session.user.username = "testUser" def testCommandOj = new testCommand( var1:var1, var2:var2, var3:var3, var4:var4 ) testService service = Mock(testService) controller.testService = service service.testFunction(var2,var3,var4) when: controller.testFunction(testCommandOj) then: view == "testView" assertTrue model.cmdObj.hasErrors() where: var1 | var2 | var3 | var4 "testuser" | "word@3" | "word@4" | "word@4" } When running this test function I getting the error like Cannot set property 'username' on null object, means I couldn't able to set up the session object. Can someone help to fix this. Thanks in advance

  • Keep an ASP.NET IIS website responsive when time between visits is long

    - by Abel
After years of ASP.NET development I'm actually quite surprised that I can't seem to find a satisfying solution for this. Why does an IIS ASP.NET site always seem to fall asleep (for 2-6 seconds) after a certain time of inactivity (after several hours), during which no HTTP response is sent from server to client. This happens on any type of site, one page or many, db or not, regardless the settings. How can I fix this? During the wait time, the server is not busy and there are no high peaks or (.NET) memory shortages. My guess is, it has to do with Windows moving the IIS process to the background and its memory to the page file, but I'm not sure. Anybody any idea? EDIT: one solution is to send some HTTP request once an hour or so, but I hope for something more constructive. EDIT: what I meant is: after hours of inactivity, it pauses several seconds on any new HTTP request.

  • How can you block access form internet explorer in asp mvc

    - by Chase Aucoin
I love microsoft development products! I hate microsoft browsers... I have made the decision to cut ties with internet explorer until they add support for some common W3 approved items. Namely 'multiple' in forms as well as about 5 other things... and as such I would like to urge my visitors to use a better browser. is there a way to setup an http handler or perhaps something in the asax file to route all ie users to a custom page? Thanks for the help! p.s. microsoft why must you make me love you and hate you.

  • ASP.net MVC 3 adding arbitrary text to the end of an ActionLink

    - by infensus
Hi I have a question about Html.ActionLink. Imagine: @Html.ActionLink(item.title, "Singlet", new { id = item.blog_id }) produces http://[url]/[controller]/Singlet/[id] But what if I want to suffix some more arbitrary data at the end? For example: http://[url]/[controller]/Singlet/[id]/#comments To jump to the comments div. I know I can just make the string myself with something like: @( new HtmlString(String.Format("<a href=\"Blog/Singlet/{0}/#comments\">link to comments</a>", item.blog_id)) ) But I am hoping there is a cleaner way, perhaps with ActionLink? Thanks

  • asp.mvc model design

    - by Radu D
Hi, I am pretty new to MVC and I am looking for a way to design my models. I have the MVC web site project and another class library that takes care of data access and constructing the business objects. If I have in that assembly a class named Project that is a business object and I need to display all projects in a view ... should I make another model class Project? In this case the classes will be identical. Do I gain something from doing a new model class? I don't like having in views references to objects from another dll ... but i don't like duplicating the code neither. Did you encounter the same problem?

  • Easiest way to specify the selected option to a dropdown list in ASP.NET MVC

    - by sdr
I have a list of options (IEnumerable< SelectListItem ) in my model that I want to use in multiple dropdowns in my view. But each of these dropdowns could have a different selected option. Is there an easy way to simply specfiy which should be selected if using the Html.DropDownList helper? At this point, the only way I can see is to generate the html myself and loop through the list of options like so: <% for(int i=0; i<10; i++) { %> <select name="myDropDown<%= i %>"> <% foreach(var option in Model.Options) { %> <option value="<%= Html.Encode(option.optValue) %>" <%if(ShouldBeSelected(i)) {%> selected="selected"<% } %>><%= Html.Encode(option.optText) %></option> <% } %> </select> <% } %>

  • ASP.NET MVC Default URL View

    - by Moose Factory
I'm trying to set the Default URL of my MVC application to a view within an area of my application. The area is called "Common", the controller "Home" and the view "Index". I've tried setting the defaultUrl in the forms section of web.config to "~/Common/Home/Index" with no success. I've also tried mapping a new route in global.asax, thus: routes.MapRoute( "Area", "{area}/{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { area = "Common", controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "" } ); Again, to no avail.

  • Weblogic Apache plugin and session stickiness

    - by h4tech
If two webserver are configured in between a load balancer and weblogic cluster, will the two Apache server maintain session stickiness.?? Say for e.g. the load balancer forwards the first request to the 1st apache and inturn 1st apache forwards to 1st WL managed instance.Even if the second req from the same user is forwarded by the load balancer to the second apache, will the sec apache be able to forward it to the 1st WLManaged instance which served the first request rather than the sec WLManaged instance which is not aware of the session information at all. What should ideally be the behaviour of weblogic apache plugin??.Catch is i dont want ot enable the session replication @ the wl server cluster..Pls help.

  • Need an Asp.net MVC Application solution

    - by Daoming Yang
I have implemented a small ordering and stock control system (for internal using) with the MVC 2 framework. Now my friends, they want to have a website to present the existing products for their customers. I know, I know they will ask me to do this one day. So in the beginning, I have made the controller name to start with "Admin". But now I am not sure the best way to implement their requirements. Could you advise me? 1.For the security reason, I did not allowed anonymous user to access the website a part from the CSS and image files. My question is the controllers' name are not folders' name, how could I set this up? 2.I'm planning to put the admin section into an "area" and will it be a good way to go? Can anyone provide me some suggestions. Many thanks.

  • Dynamically compose ASP MVC view based on context

    - by robertFall
I have several views that are composed of several partial views based on context. For example, we have a Project view that shows all the details of a project, which includes the scalar values, name etc, and also all the assigned employees, tasks and/or clients. The problem I have is that certain types of project have all of the above sections while others have only two or even on section, ie. details only. What is the best way to compose the Projects master view? I don't want to have logic to check the project in the view. Is there a way to compose a view in code by programatically rendering the relevant partials and ignoring the rest? Otherwise are there any other ideas how to do this in a maintainable way? I could of course just render the partials using if statements to check if they apply, but that way the view contains VERY important logic. In another situation we want to use this method to display content based on the type of subscription a user has. Thanks!

  • ASP.NET MVC3 - Bug using Javascript

    - by ebb
    Hey there, I'm trying to use Ajax.BeginForm() to POST A Json result from my controller (I'm using MVC3). When the Json result is called it should be sent to a javascript function and extract the object using "var myObject = content.get_response().get_object();", However it just throws a "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object doesn't support this property or method" when trying to invoke the Ajax POST. My code: Controller: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Index(string message) { return Json(new { Success = true, Message = message }); } View: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery-1.4.4.min.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/jquery.unobtrusive-ajax.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/MicrosoftAjax.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="@Url.Content("~/Scripts/MicrosoftMvcAjax.js")" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function JsonAdd_OnComplete(mycontext) { var myObject = mycontext.get_response().get_object(); alert(mycontext.Message); } </script> </head> <body> <div> @using(Ajax.BeginForm("Index", "Home", new AjaxOptions() { HttpMethod = "POST", OnComplete = "JsonAdd_OnComplete" })) { @Html.TextBox("message") <input type="submit" value="SUBMIT" /> } </div> </body> </html> The strange thing is that the exactly same code works in MVC2 - Is this a bug, or have I forgot something? Thanks in advance.

  • Java Session Like Object

    - by scriptmonster
I have been developing a project and in this project i have designed my code to do the same job after a specified time interval continuously. The job that wanted to be done has a lot of distinct cycles. The interval is small to execute them normally thus i used threads. Until that point everything is clear for me. To decrease the process and information transaction i wanted to put an session like object that holds the given data and provide it to any thread at anytime. With this object i plan to not query the same configuration information from database at everytime but if it exists on the session take it else query and store on session. I'm not sure how to implement this structure. Regards,

  • Handling Exceptions that happen in a asp.net MVC Controller Constructor

    - by Jason
What's the best way to handle exceptions that happen from within a controller's constructor? All I can think of to do is use Application_OnError() or put a try/catch in my ControllerFactory. Neither of these solutions seem ideal. Application_OnError is to broad - I have some non-mvc content in the site that has its own error handling. Using a try/catch block seems kinda hacky. If I'm serving different content type -html/text/json/rss.... I would like to be able to handle the exception from within the action method instead of having to write all kinds of conditions to determine what kind of error message to serve. Am I missing something here, or has anyone else dealt with this?

  • JSF - Session Bean restart on logout and login

    - by Ben
Hi, I have a web application with a backing bean which has the context of the current logged in user. It is implemented on JSF. When the user logs out he is forwarded to a login screen (in another JSP page). I would like the current session to be erased when that happens and a new one to be created the next time the user logs in and enters the application. My question is - how do you delete a session? (I guess the new session will be created automatically the next time the user enters the link) This is kinda newb i guess, but I couldn't find a solution for this. Thanks for the Help!

  • Ideas in implenting the following entry form in ASP.NET MVC 2

    - by KiD0M4N
Hi guys, I have a very simple data entry form to implement. It looks like this: Obviously I have mocked out the actual requirements but the essence is similar. Entering a name and clicking history should bring up a pop up pointing to the url '/student/viewhistory/{name}' Name and age are required fields The sub form (in the mockup) with Class (a drop down, containing the numbers 1 - 10) and Subject (containing A - D, say) form a unique pair of values for which a score is required. So, selecting the Class and Subject, entering a score and clicking on Add should 'add' this record for the student. Then the user should be able to click Save (to persist the entry to the database) or be able to add further (class, subject, score) pairs to the entry. Any ideas how to smartly implement this? (I am coming from a DWH field... so thinking in a stateless manner is slightly foreign to me.) Any help is appreciated. I would imagine a smart use of jQuery would give a easy solution. Regards, Karan

  • ASP.NET MVC Routing

    - by creativeincode
My website uses categories and sub-categories. I'd like the follow mapping: /Category/Fruit /Category/Fruit/Apples But if I use the below: routes.MapRoute( "Category", // Route name "Category/{category}/{subcategory}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Entity", action = "Category" } // Parameter defaults ); I get a 404 for /Category/Fruit however /Category/Fruit/Apples works ok. I'd like /Category/Fruit to work as well but I can't add another route with the same name. How do I get around this? Thanks in advance.
