  • The server method xxx failed (asp.net ajax)

    I have a website project, that is working fine. However every once a while certain ajax pages (that make calls to a webservice) throw a "the server method xxx failed". I have ELMAH installed, however do not see any stacktrace or anything. The worst is that I can not reproduce the error locally. I just get an email notification from ELMAH. Does anybody know how I can fix this issue?

    i am submitting a from using jQuery ajax, and server is returning json response. but instead of the script, parsing the json result, the browser is prompting me to download the json response. I have had this problem before, where i forgot to return false at the end of the event handler. But this time im clueless why this is happening. anyone has experienced this problem.. thanks

    Hey Guys Im looking for a jquery or ajax file uploader, Im currently using the FancyUploader which worked great until Flash brought out their update making all flash progress bars absolete, now whenever I try to upload large files... it will fill the progress bar to 100% in a matter of seconds even though the actual upload finished minutes after. So im now looking for a new uploading script that DOESNT require flash but can still display the progress. Any suggestions?

    Hi, This is my jquery code jQuery(document).ready (function() { // post $('.post').bind('mouseenter mouseleave', function() { $(this).filter('.btn').toggleClass('hidden'); }); }); It works great on a normal document. but When I load some HTM: (i.e some divs with .post attributes) using ajax and embed it into my DOM. The above code doesnt work with those divs.

Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Conventional Approaches for Passing Data to Back-End?

    Hi guys, I'm fairly new to web development, so please pardon the painfully newbie question that's about to follow. My computer science class group and I are developing a web application for class, which is built in Python (under Django) and uses jQuery on the front end. It's primarily an AJAX-ified application, and passing data from the backend to the front end is done through AJAX calls to specific URLs which return JSON. This is probably a stupid question, but what's the conventional approach for passing data in the opposite direction? We don't want to reload the page or anything, so is it an AJAX pass going the other way or something? Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi, Since Ajax requests are limited for security reasons, there's not much to it, just follow the rules eh .. but I've crossed with this : https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Same_origin_policy_for_JavaScript It's written that you can "bypass" those rules, in case you're working with subdomains of the same domain, with the following javascript line : document.domain = "company.com"; I haven't tried it yet, since I don't know if this only works (perfectly works) with any other browser, or at least the major ones. Say I have a web method named foo in TestService, how do I make an ajax call to it? I tried accessing the method via http://127.0.0.1:8080/IM/TestService/foo, but I'm getting an HTTP Status 404.
