Convert Mac font to Windows format?

I have a font that was used on Mac OS X 10.5. Mac recognizes it as a font file. Windows Vista shows it as a "File". Changing the file extension doesn't work. I tried both .otf and .ttf and neither worked. (Surprise! I didn't thinks so, but I'd be a fool for asking if that was the answer, so I tried...) Perhaps I need to try a different extension? Are there any utilities to convert the font? A Windows equivalent? It's called Franco. (FrancoNormal, actually.) Thanks. EDIT: DFontSplitter didn't work. I saw something online about "data fork" and "resource fork" that has to match up. Can someone please explain that? Do I need both for a font conversion? What do I tell my graphic designer to send me? EDIT 2: The font doesn't work when downloaded to Mac OS X either. (A different machine from the original.) "Get Info" reveals that there is no file extension, leading me to believe that this is the newer font format. Where wold I find the the "data fork" and "resource fork" on the Mac? I want to be able to tell the designer exactly where to look. EDIT 3: DFontSplitter works on the original computer but not on my PC. I converted and emailed myself the fonts from the graphic designers laptop. I guess it has to do with the data being stored in a "fork" whatnot. Thanks, Matt for that article. changing filesystem format from xfs to ext4 without losing data

I have a fresh Lucid Lynx (Ubuntu 10.04) running on a laptop. where I defined the filesystems as: mount point / on ext4 (46 Gb) mount point /home on jfs (63 GB) swap as 3 Gb I left the machine over night to do some task, without AC power supply. next day in the morning I found it on standby, task completed, but filesystem was not reachable. it gave me I/O error it seems that there is a problem with jfs and standby. anyways, to avoid any hassle, I want to move this mount point from jfs format to ext4. can I do this without losing data and without the need to place the data in a temporary location until transformation is done? sorry to mention that, but I recall back in the windows days, we would change a FAT16 to FAT32 or a FAT32 to NTFS without having to lose the data. I hope this is available on Linux. Update The /home filesystem was xfs not jfs, and it seems there is a bug with this filesystem for some reason, I had to re-install the OS twice until I ended up with ext4 for the entire / However, as a conclusion, it seems that there is no way to make a conversion

Recover hard disk from Raw format

I have been all over the web today with no results. So my drive was encrypted (truecrypt) the whole drive where windows resided. I decided to partition it to install W8 and forgot it was encrypted. So the drive got damaged and not accessible. When connected to a computer it asks for formatting. Somehow I enabled the drive through TrueCrypt on another computer and I could see and get all the files. Then I decided to decrypt the drive thinking that everything would be back to normal. After decryption my drive is not NTFS it is in RAW format. I am trying every possible way to recover, and I am desperate enough to ask lol. I tried: ddrescue (linux) (not mountable, no signature, ntfsfix no good) testdisk (linux and windows) Sees the partitions but cant do anything Many recovery applications. etc etc. I read in different places that doing a quickformat to NTFS and then doing a data recovery might help. I would definitely like a second opinion. Any suggestion would be really helpful

Converting flv and mp4 video format to '.ogg' using FFmpeg

I have HostGator VPS server with FFmpeg installed. It allows me to convert .wmv to .flv as well as .mp4 files successfully using the following commands for flv and mp4: ffmpeg -i WantsABath.wmv -b 600k -r 24 -ar 22050 -ab 96k WantsABath.flv ffmpeg -i WantsABath.wmv WantsABath.mp4 but it won't allow me to convert any file format to .ogg. I tried using the command: ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -acodec libvorbis -vcodec libtheora -f ogv output.ogv by mondain but no luck with it. I am doubting that my VPS doesn't have libtheora installed. I tried configuring it by using SSH but I don't know how to make sure if it is installed or not. I tried checking with php_info but can't find anything regarding libtheora. Seagate 3TB hard drive loses format information

I have a Windows 7x64 Ultimate, 6 GB memory, 1 TB HD. 3TB Barracuda XT HDD. The HDD is installed on a StarTech 4 bays external enclosure I had troubles so I converted to a GPT, created 1 partition and formatted as NTFS. The hard drive I can write and read to and from the hard drive but it will become unreadable at some point while I am copying files or after I have copied files to it. I have copied large Bluray movies and diverse video files, I have also copied 32 GB of pictures, and I have copied about 86 thousand music files in different formats. At some point the partition becomes unreadable and I have to format the partition again (all files lost) and I have to start the whole process again. At some point I have been unable to copy large ISO (Bluray movies) file images. I have partitioned the HDD in 2 partitions P1 - 2TB, P2 - 1TB and I have lost every single file in either partition the same way. I reformat the HDD and it seems fine. I have run seatools to check the hard drive and it reports to be OK. What gives?

But, what about /dev/sda2 and /dev/sda5? When I tried to mount /dev/sda2, it said that I needed to specify the file system, which according to the table, is nonexistent. So, is it safe to format this with, say ext4 and mount it? Also, when I tried to mount /dev/sd5, it gave me this error: mount: unknown filesystem type 'LVM2_member' I assume it is NOT save to reformat this. If I'm wrong, then that would be great, because I could save some space. Please let me know either way. Thanks in advance! Sorry for the question marks, but a simple (I think) question has an impossible solution. From file system, if I click on an image file "Properties | Details tab" I access to many metadata. I need to access from a WPF application to the Description properties (Title, Subject, Rating, Tag and Comment). In particular Tag. I have found a lot of articles, many are very old. A few in WPF and Imaging library. But no one access to that properties. So the question marks: are these properties on image? On file system? I think they are on the image..I don0t undestand where are these properties and why is so difficult to access... Can someone help me? Thanks in advance, Marco Parenzan

How to Add a Business Card Image to a Signature in Outlook 2013 Without the vCard (.vcf) File

When you add a business card to a signature, an image of the business card is inserted into the signature and the vCard (.vcf) file is attached. If you don’t want to attach the vCard file, you can insert the image only into your signature. To insert only the image of your business card without the .vcf file, click People on the Navigation Bar at the bottom of the Outlook window. To get a business card image we can use, we must view the contacts in any form other than People, so we can open the full contact editing window. To do this, click on a different view in the Current View section of the Home tab. We chose to view our contacts in the Business Card format. Double-click on your contact in the current view. The full contact editing window displays with an image of the business card on the right. Right-click on the business card image and select Copy Image from the popup menu. To close the contact editing window, click the File tab and click Close in the menu list on the left. NOTE: You can also click the X in the upper, right corner of the contact editing window to close it. To open the signature editor, click the File tab. Click Options in the menu list on the left side of the Account Information screen. On the Outlook Options dialog box, click Mail in the list of options on the left side of the dialog box. On the Mail screen, click Signatures in the Compose messages section. NOTE: You can also access the Signatures and Stationery dialog box from the Message window for new emails and drafts. Click New Email on the Home tab or double-click an email in the Drafts folder to access the Message window. For more information, see our article about assigning a default signature. In the signature editor, right-click and select Paste from the popup menu. The image is inserted into the signature. You can also use this method to copy a business card image for use in other documents and programs. It’s also possible to insert the vCard (.vcf) file into a signature without the image. Image auto resizes in PdfPCell with iTextSharp

Hi, i'm having a weird problem with images in iTextSharp library. I'm adding the image to the PdfPCell and for some reason it gets scaled up. How do i keep it to original size? Here's the image of the PDF at 100% and the image in its original size opened in paint.net. I though that the images would be same when printed but the difference on the pic is the same on the printed version. Having to manually scale the image with ScaleXXX to get it to right seems a bit illogical and does not give a good result. So how do I put the image in its original size inside a PdfPCell of a table without having to scale it? Resize an array of images with OpenCV

I'm passing an array of images (IplImage**) to an object in C++ using OpenCV. I can give a full implementation if necessary - is there anything in my code that's going to create a null pointer?

Hi I am using itextsharp to generate a pdf file.I am placing a backgound image on it and want that image on all the pages .But when the first page is completed the text move to next page automatically so the image is not appearing on the new page. Is there a way to identify the end of page so that we can add a new page and then set the image first so will appear in background and then can add the remaining text. All is i want a image in background on all the pages of pdf file.

How to handle null return from custom HttpHandler in asp.net?

I'm using a custom ashx HttpHandler to retrieve gif images from a database and show it on a website - when the image exists, it works great. However, there are cases when the image will not exist, and I'd like to have the html table holding the image to become invisible so the "image not found" icon is not shown. But since the HttpHandler is not synchronous, all my attempts checking for image size at Page_Load were frustrated. Any ideas on how this can be accomplished?

No satellite image in world wind

I am trying to use world wind but instead of a nice globe, I have that: As you can see, the earth is transparent. Only stars, the atmosphere and some names are displayed. The satellite image and the terrain are absent. If you do not know this application, you can test it with java web start from there. Do you know how to solve this problem? Maybe there is something wrong with my 3D card (FYI, google earth works perfectly). I am on ubuntu 12.04, with openJDK6 and icedtea web start.

Script to embed image and CSS data in HTML files

I have a HTML page which references external stylesheets and shows some images. I'm looking for an easy way to include all referenced external resources in the HTML file directly, so that it doesn't have any external references any more. (Images should be included in the HTML file using the <img src="data:image/jpg;base64,[...] method). EDIT: I want to do this so that my web proxy can deliver a nice-looking error page if the backend is down, so I have to assume all my webservers cannot deliver the static content which would normally be linked to from my websites (CSS, images).

Cannot boot from USB disk with "not a COM32R image" error

After installing 11.10 on my Dell Studo 15 (Model 1557) laptop, it started to overheat. Recently it even shutdown twice saying that critical temperature has reached even when I was just idling (not even a single program was open except for Firefox). After learning that it is a problem with 3.0.0 kernel I decided to roll back to 10.04 LTS. I have downloaded the most recent 10.04 iso from ubuntu.com and created a live USB using startup disk creator in 11.10. But when I am trying to boot from USB I am getting the following error vesamenu.c32: not a COM32R image I have installed ubuntu from usb stick a couple of dozen times before this and I think it is not a problem with my hardware. Please tell me what to do.

I am looking for a javascript solution that slides images with text, pulled from php. This slider will slide in groups by indexes in points. I was googling, but nothing as I need. I am going to make an example. Imagine 10 products. I need to show the principal picture, and a text below the image. It is going to show 6 products, and with points (indexes), I click and the group slides to the next group. Do you know some script.?? I know the php code, but I am a newbie with javascript.! Clonezilla failing as soon as image copying begins

I have been trying unsuccessfully to create an image of an Ubuntu 10.04 laptop system. As soon as the copying itself starts, the entire system crashes to a black screen. I suspect that the problem is overheating, and that's why I put an ice pack under the machine. That seems to have helped a bit, but it's still not getting through the copying process. Is there any other possible explanation for dying to a black screen like this? I'm just not relishing the task of removing the hard drive, mounting it elsewhere, and then doing a backup that way.
