  • Rails Pretty URL with Decimals

    I have a rails application that allows searches using longitude and latitude. I have added a 'pretty' route with: map.connect 'stores/near/:longitude/:latitude', :controller => 'stores', :action => 'index' This works for integer latitude and longitude values (http://localhost:3000/stores/near/-88/49) but fails for decimal values (http://localhost:3000/stores/near/-88.341/49.123) giving: Routing Error No route matches "/stores/near/-88/49.0" with {:method=>:get} Any ideas how to use pretty URLs in rails with decimals?

  • Weird gcc error stray/missing terminating " character in C

    I get the following errors: error: missing terminating " character and error: stray `\' in program In this line of C code: system("sqlite3 -html /home/user/.rtcom-eventlogger/el.db \"SELECT service_id, event_type_id,free_text, remote_uid FROM Events WHERE remote_uid=\'%d\' ORDER BY start_time DESC;\" > lol.html", nr); "nr" is a integer variable. I have gone over this so many times but are totally stuck of finding a solution. EDIT: The errors is the ouput while compiling with gcc if I didn't make that clear.

    In VB6 there are local static variables that keep their values after the exit of procedure. It's like using public vars but on local block. For example: sub count() static x as integer x = x + 1 end sub After 10 calls, x will be 10. I tried to search the same thing in .NET (and even Java) but there was none. Why? Does it break the OOP model in some way, and is there a way to emulate that.

  • Can I use a single DateTime field on the Entity Framework model side when the value is stored in a set of Int fields in the actual database?

    The actual table in the database has separate integer fields for storing year, month, day, hour and minute values (all in UTC) (seconds and milliseconds are irrelevant for my task and considered equal to zero). Needless to say it would be of great convenience to have just one field of DateTime type on the application side and hide all the conversion under the cover of the Entity Framework model code. Any directions on how to do that? I am not very experienced with Entity Framework yet.

I know I can't declare a TList<integer> as a published property, because it doesn't descend from TPersistent. I've read that you can define "fake" published properties if you override DefineProperties, but I'm not quite sure how that works, especially when it comes to creating a fake property that's a list, not a single value.     First of all, I'm not sure if solution even exists. I spent more than a couple of hours trying to come up with one, so beware. The problem: r1 contains an arbitrary integer, flags are not set according to its value. Set r0 to 1 if r1 is 0x80000000, to 0 otherwise, using only two instructions. It's easy to do that in 3 instructions (there are many ways), however doing it in 2 seems very hard, and may very well be impossible.
