  • IIS 7 SSO stops working during high CPU load? [migrated]

    On our IIS7 site (Windows 2008 Server), we have set up single sign-on (SSO). It seems to work fine most of the time, but when the CPU load becomes high, SSO authentication completely stops working. I did some research and tried this suggestion to increase the max number of worker processes in the default app pool, but the increase did not help. Some details: The site is a WordPress blog. The server has plenty of RAM (2 GB) and free disk space. SSO is achieved by putting a copy of the WordPress login page (wp-login.php) into a subfolder below the root that has anonymous authentication disabled, and then redirecting the browser to it. This was the recommendation of Microsoft given to our consultants. To increase CPU load for testing, I have three scripts hit the home page simultaneously, over and over. This drives CPU to 100%. When these scripts are running, SSO authentication simply doesn't happen. As soon as I stop the scripts, SSO works again. (I should mention that the SSO problem also happens when many users visit the site at once....) The WordPress database process (mysqld) is not stressed at all by the scripts. I would be happy to provide further diagnostics. Any help appreciated!

    I have been using hostgators hatchling plan for three months. I got an email from the hosting that my website is creating an over load on CPU. They said that I am eating up their processor and as a precaution, they have temporarily suspended my account. When I contacted their customer support, they said: You have to optimize your database and use some sort of caching mechanism, where the script does not need to generate a new page with every request, helps to lower the over load that a script will cause. I am not a technical geek, I am wondering how I will do this thing. I don't have any resource to hire a web developer to do this job. My website is down for 48hours. I was using wp super cache along with cloudfare's free support. Now I have intalled optimize-db plugin and optimized my database. Please provide me with some more tips on how to optimize my database to reduce CPU usage. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Missing 'DomContentLoaded' and 'load' time information in Firebug's Net Panel.

    Hello, Firebug is awesome in reporting the relative time when an HTTP request was made with respect to the 'DomContentLoaded' and 'load' time. However, once the 'load' event occurs (seen by the red line on the timeline), the requests thereafter do not have any information about how later they occurred with respect to the two events. To confuse things, these requests (usually at the bottom of the timeline) appear to have started right at the beginning of the page load. Could somebody shed some light on what should i infer when i see such entries in the timeline which do not have information about the 'DomContentLoaded' and 'load' event times and appear to have occurred after the page load event, still net panel shows that they started at the beginning?     Hi Folks Basically for my webapp I'm trying to organise it a bit better. As it at the moment, every time I want to load a page, I have to do it from my controller like so: $this->load->view('subviews/template/headerview'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/menuview'); $this->load->view('The-View-I-Want-To-Load'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/sidebar'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/footerview'); As you can tell it's not really very efficient. So I thought I'd create one 'master' view - It's called template.php. This is the contents of the template view: <?php $view = $data['view']; $this->load->view('subviews/template/headerview'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/menuview'); $this->load->view($view); $this->load->view('subviews/template/sidebar'); $this->load->view('subviews/template/footerview'); ?> And then I thought I'd be able to call it from a controller like this: $data['view'] = 'homecontent'; $this->load->view('template',$data); Unfortunately I simply cannot make this work. Does anyone have any ways around this or fixes I can put into place? I've tried putting ""s and ''s around $view in template.php but that makes no difference. The usual error is "Undefined variable: data" or "Cannot load view: $view.php" etc. Thanks folks! Jack

For e.g. when i open any MS word document then add-in is load for that and if after that i opened another MS word document without closing previously opened document then add-in is again load for newly opend MS word document. But when i opened MS word at first time the add-in is load and if i opened MS word again but add-in is already loaded. my requirement is like that-my add-in is worked backgroundly that is its work only to record the opening,closing time of the word document and how much time spend onto that word document and also the name of this document. But when i opened one word document then add-in is loaded for that and if againg opened new word document then becaz of previously opened document add-in is not load for that document remember that priviously opened document is not closed. but if i closed previously opened document then for new document add-in is load.

  • Unable to load type error in ASP.NET 4 application on Windows Server 2003 / IIS6 -- only happens after first worker process recycle

    I'm running an ASP.NET 4.0 web application on IIS6 (Windows Server 2003 x64). This app is one of many running on this server under the Default Web Site -- but is alone on it's own application pool because the other sites are all running ASP.NET 2.0 still. When I deploy my application, it works just fine until the application pool recycles or kills its worker process (by default 2 hours or 20 minutes with no activity). After this, I get the error: "Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information. System.Reflection.ReflectionTypeLoadException: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information." Refreshing the page, recycling the application pool, and iisreset do nothing. But, I can bring the site back online again for a little while by simply redeploying it.   • Jquery - Loading a page with .load and selector doesn't execute script?

    I'm trying to load one page into another using the .load() method. This loaded page contains a script that I want to execute when it has finished loading. I've put together a barebones example to demonstrate: Index.html: <html> <head> <title>Jquery Test</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="script/jquery-1.3.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#nav a').click(function() { $('#contentHolder').load('content.html #toLoad', '', function() {}); return false; }); }); </script> </head> <body> <div id="nav"> <a href="content.html">Click me!</a> </div> <hr /> <div id="contentHolder"> Content loaded will go here </div> </body> </html> Content.html: <div id="toLoad"> This content is from content.html <div id="contentDiv"> This should fade away. </div> <script type="text/javascript"> $('#contentDiv').fadeOut('slow', function() {} ); </script> </div> When the link is clicked, the content should load and the second paragraph should fade away. However it doesn't execute. If I stick a simple alert("") in the script of content.html it doesn't execute either. However, if I do away with the #toLoad selector in the .load() call, it works fine. I am not sure why this is, as the block is clearly in the scope of the #toLoad div. I don't want to avoid using the selector, as in reality the content.html will be a full HTML page, and I'll only want a select part out of it. Any ideas? If the script from content.html was in the .load() callback, it works fine, however I obviously don't want that logic contained within index.html. I could possibly have the callback use .getScript() to load "content.html.js" afterwards and have the logic in there, that seems to work? I'd prefer to keep the script in content.html, if possible, so that it executes fine when loaded normally too. In fact, I might do this anyway, but I would like to know why the above doesn't work.

    I wanted to post a solution to an issue that comes up every time I have to setup a new developer in our organization:      Could not load file or assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit' or one of its dependencies. Access is denied.  My solution is to grant Full Control to the "Everyone" group to the folder C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files  I know there are other solutions to this problem, but this one seems the simplest for me.  Marcie

    Here's a description of my build (simple) Processor: AMD Phenom II x6 1090t Ram: 16gb 1333 mhz Board: TA990FXE Video Card : HD 6870 HDD Ubuntu is installed on: 320gb caviar blue 7200rpm That should be sufficient enough to diagnose this. Yes I did install the AMD video drivers recommended by Ubuntu. Programs take 2+ seconds to load, and I really don't tolerate that...Windows 7 loads programs as fast as my hdd allows Unless this is how Ubuntu is meant to work...then I'll just go back to Debian command-line.

  • How do I host multiple SSL websites on a single EC2 instance using Amazon Elastic Load Balancers?

    If I have 3 separate websites which all require SSL (separate certificates) that I want to host on the same EC2 instance(s) across multiple availability zones so that we have the ability to scale and be highly available, how do I achieve this using ELBs in my Amazon VPC? Each site requires a separate IP address, so I have added multiple private IPs to the EC2 instance, but I am unsure how to bind the ELB to a certain IP on the instance. I was also able to setup multiple ELB pointing to the same instance, but again, I am not seeing any way to bind each ELB to a separate IP on the instance. If this is not possible, what is the best option? Run each site on a separate EC2 instance / ELB combo (expensive and harder to maintain) Give each site a separate public IP and use Route 53 to do the load balancing (seems like a hack) Use a different load balancer option such as HAProxy that should be able to work like a normal load balancer appliance. Please help!

    Thanks in advance! I am creating my first extension (A firefox extension). See below for full description of final product. I need help starting off. I have looked and studied the HelloWorld.xpi example found on Mozilla's site so I am happy to edit that to learn. In the example, when you click a menu item it runs script to display an alert message. My question is, how would I edit this extension to run the script on page load?   • Auto load balancing two node Cluster Hyper-v 2008 R2 enterprise?

    My setup is a 2 node cluster with 72GB ram each and a ~10TB MD3000i Iscsi SAN. I have about 30VMs running I keep about 15 on either server. I do a live migration to the other server if I need to run updates or whatever... Either one of the servers is able of running all VM if needed, but the cpu is pretty high. Here's my issues. I know Hyper-v has a limit of a single Live-migration at a time. But Why doesn't it queue them up to move one at a time? If I multi select I don't get the option to live migrate a one at a time. OR if I'm in the process of Migrating one it will give me an error that it's currently migrating a VM... Is there a button I missed that will tell a Node that it needs to migrate all the VMs elsewhere? Another question, does anyone know whats the best way to load balance VMs based on CPU and/or network utilzation. I have some VMs that don't do much. and some that trash the CPU or network. I'd like to balance it out on both servers if at all possible. and Is there any way to automate it? last question... If I overcommit my Cluster is there a way to tell the cluster that I want certian VMs the be running and to savestate other VMs based on availible system resources? Say when my one node blue screens and the other node begins starting the VMs up. I want the unimportant ones to shutdown or savestate so the important ones can stay running or come back online.   • Does Google include the time to load images, for a single page, as part of the page speed?

    we all know that Google's affects your page rank with the load time of a page. How? That's part of the secret sauce. But we know that page speed is a serious factor. So - what is considered the speed of a page? Is it just the first (and main) html file which the GET receives? Or does it also include loading of images as part of that speed. so for example... GET /index.htm <- takes 0.45 seconds to retrieve (including DNS lookup before). robot parses page.. see's there's a single main image.... GET /img/main.png <- takes 5 seconds to download. is the page speed for that resource, 0.45 seconds OR 5.45 seconds? I understand Javascript is not fired .. but are any of these external resources all downloaded and part of the page speed?

    In responsive design, elements are hidden in the page with @media queries and display: none in CSS. Ok. In my design however browsers that have less than 800px in width should avoid loading some content at all. When accessed with on a device with more than 800px of screen, the page loads fully. In mobile devices or even on desktop with less than 800px of width some content is hidden. I want to make the page load faster for low-resolution devices and avoid loading chunks of content that the user will never see. How can I go about this?

    I am automating some configurations on my systems using Puppet. For a group of machines I want to load a kernel module at boot time. The most elegant way seems to edit /etc/modules and add one on an individual line. However, I would like to use separate files in a ".d" directory structure for easier maintainability. For modprobe and specifying the options for modules, there's /etc/modprobe.d/, but what's the most elegant way for actually loading modules at boot time using a single new file? Basically, I'm looking for the non-existing /etc/modules.d/ directory. Any suggestions?

    Im creating an iPhone game with Adobe AIR, and I want to be able to load a simple text msg into an dynamic text box on the games front screen from my server (and then be able to update that text file on the server, so it updates automatically in the game after the game is on the app store) How would I go about acheiving that? is it as simple as using a getURL? are there any specifical issues with trying to do this on the iPhone via AIR that I should be aware of?   • Does connection pooling work fine to execute 60 DB queries to load a page?

    We use Linq2Sql in an ASP.NET application. Unfortunately the eager-loading in Linq2Sql isn't as powerful as in Entity Framework, so a lot of the data has to be lazy loaded as needed. Taking connection pooling into account, is it OK for a web page to execute 60 queries to load a page? Executing a single big query probably won't be much better, as those 60 queries will all those connection pooled connections and not open a new connection each time (which I realize is slow). Any thoughts?

    After the Bios screen appears, the purple screen appears and says, "cannot load Ubuntu2D" Log off. Logging off is my only option. I am operating on a Dell Insoirion 11.10 Ubuntu system. I deleted the gnome because I read in the forum it slowed down the computer and I wanted to watch movies. I deleted Unity as well because I read terrible things about it and that it was not necessary for me. I realize my experimention in learning by adding and deleting things were not proper. I was just trying to learn and fix my sound. Please help. Thanks.

    I am using an array buffer for colors data. If I want to load different colors for the current mesh in real time what is the correct way to do it. At the moment I am doing: glBindVertexArray(vao); glBindBuffer(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, colorBuffer); glBufferData(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, SIZE, colorsData, GL_STATIC_DRAW); glEnableVertexAttribArray(shader->attrib("color")); glVertexAttribPointer(shader->attrib("color"), 3, GL_FLOAT, GL_TRUE, 0, NULL); glBindBuffer(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, 0); It works, but I am not sure if this is good and efficient way to do it. What happens to the previous data ? Does it write on top of it ? Do I need to call : glDeleteBuffers(1, colorBuffer); glGenBuffers(1, colorBuffer); before transfering the new data into the buffer ?

    I need to create a terrain that can be used in C++ and opengl and I am told that using a height map is the way to go. I have a .bmp file that is a greyscale image that I would like to use. However, I do not know how to load that greyscale image into the project so that it can be used as a height map or how I can apply a texture to it to create terrain nor how to compute the normals that I'm told will be required. How would I go about achieving what I would like to do?
