  I need a list of all the countries in the world, with one lat/long coordinate for the country. I had a look at GeoNames, but all I can seem to find are lists that have the countries as well as cities in the same list. I guess I can just parse it and filter out the countries, but I was hoping to avoid that. Basically, what I need; Country name - Lat/long coordinate (some sort of center of the country) It doesn't need to say anything about continent, but I wouldn't mind if it did. _L

• What is a good Javascript RDFa parser implementation?

  I am looking to implement a client side RDFa based formatting for a web application. This would be similar to Mark Birbeck's ubiquity-rdfa project. Mark's project looks fantastic but it has at least two drawbacks: It is slow. Adding RDFa formatting to a simple page causes a noticeable delay in page loading. It is complex. The ubiquity-rdfa project makes use of the w3c fresnel specification which is complex way to add simple annotations to client markup. I am looking for a lighter weight way of adding annotations through client code and I don't mind doing some work to get it. What I would like is a fast and reliable Javascript RDFa parser. Some implementations that I have found include: W3C RDFa bookmarklet parser Elias Torres RDFa extractor I am interested to know if you would recommend one of these, or another, RDFa Javascript implementation. • How can I append text to a start and end of a file as header and footer ?

  I'm filling an XML document manually using C# and I need to have <data> as header and </data> as footer for the whole XML file. Is there an easy way to do that ? I know It can be done but I couldn't find a way to do it. Keep in mind that I'm updating the entries so I need to make sure that they always come between the header and the footer. • nul terminating a int array

  Hello, gcc 4.4.4 c89 I was just experimenting with a int array. And something just came to my mind. Can I nul terminate it. For example, I am using a 0 to nul terminate. However, 0 could well be a valid value in this array. The code below will terminate after the 5. Even though I mean 0 to be a valid number. However, I could specify the size of the array. But in this case, I don't want to this as I am just interested in this particular problem. • Anyone have any issues with using PLINQO and ASP.NET MVC 2.0?

  I'm asking because I'm working on an ASP.NET MVC 1.0 site, thinking of upgrading to ASP.NET MVC 2.0. Then I read that PLINQO 5.0 was released (I had never heard of PLINQO before) and have been impressed with what PLINQO appears to be capable of. 1) Is PLINQO capable of building out an ASP.NET MVC 2.0 UI project when it's run? 2) Have you had any bad experiences using PLINQO (particularly in an ASP.NET MVC app)? Let me make sure I have the scenario right in my mind: Using PLINQO (assuming it supports ASP.NET MVC 2.0), I should be able to point it to my DB and it will create 3 projects: data, test, and mvc 2.0 UI? The data would contain LINQ to SQL queries, with the PLINQO extensions added in and the other projects setup to use the data project by default?

  Hey guys im in a very confused state of mind at the moment and need some help with Word Press and generally starting a website. My parents have had a business for 20 years and have finally decided to get a website! As im studying IT and Business i said id get it done for them. Rather than design it from scratch i used a template which i bought from themeforest.net (awesome template!) and yesterday a friend mentioned in passing using word press as a CMS which i had never heard of before, and he left before i could ask any questions. SO basically i have a site working on my computer and i have no idea how to get it live as a .com or .com.au, so far as i can see wordpress is a blog with .wordpress.com which isnt what im looking for. • nested page-faulting of user-space address in Linux

  Hi, I would like to know if it is functionally wrong to page-fault a user-space address when kernel is running fault-handler to bring in a user-page. OS is Linux 2.6.30 Assume that both user-addresses are valid ( falling within vma , rw permission ) for the task. When I check the kernel code, i find that the kernel does not mind the nested fault if the faulted-addresses are valid and the fault did not occur in atomic-context or in irq handler. (I dont think the answer is cpu-specific, but I would add that i am interested in arm and mips ). eg : The scenario can happen if I print stack-data from page-fault handler. thanks shankar

  hi , i want to implement a web service which is both in java and .net.but i will first create a wcf service and later convert the code to java . for securing the webservice , i have this in my mind. i shall be implementing asp.net form authentication type of stuff . i intent to sent a token to the client on providing valid userID and password to the login method. in return i would send a token. on all other service operations i shall check the token . Now i have a wcf client and a wcf service . what should be the shortest way forward ?should i use soap auth header to send the user ID and password and how should the token be transported ( in which field ? http or soap's ?) . P.S: of course i shall enable ssl later.

• Programmatically automating a web login

  I am trying to create a C# Winforms application that will automatically log me into a site and download data. Specifically, I want to have my application automatically log into my online banking site, log me in, and download my transaction history. I can do this manually by logging in through a web browser and downloading it. I am trying to automate this. I know I probably need to use HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse. Does anyone have an example of this or a framework of the steps I need to take to accomplish this? Keep in mind it will be secure site (https) and I will somehow have to collect session information and retain the session information for the duration of the session. Any thoughts?

• BNRPersistence on the iPhone, and NSDocument

  I'm trying to get BNRPersistence running in an iPhone app, but I'm having a problem that I have no idea how to solve. Keep in mind I'm relatively new to iPhone dev. The problem is that BNRStoreDocument subclasses NSDocument, which exists in the Cocoa framework and thus isn't available on the iPhone. So obviously I'm getting compile errors that it can't find NSDocument. The developer of BNRPersistence states that it works on the iPhone, so I'm sure there a solution, I just don't what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  I have defined an enum in a header file of a class : typedef enum{ RED = 0, BLUE, Green } Colors; - (void) switchTest:(Colors)testColor; and in the implementation file I have : - (void) switchTest:(Colors)testColor{ if(testColor == RED){ NSLog(@"Red selected"); } switch(testColor){ case RED: NSLog(@"Red selected again !"); break; default: NSLog(@"default selected"); break; } } My code compiles correctly without warrnings. When calling the switchTest method with RED, the output is : "Red selected" but once the first line of the switch runs, the application quits unexpectedly and without warrnings/errors. I don't mind using if/else syntax but I would like to understand my mistake.

  I have e very specific test setup in mind. I would like to start a web-browser that understands Javascript and can use HTTP proxy, point it to a URL (ideally by specifying it in the command line along with the proxy config), wait for the page to load while listening (in the proxy) requests are generated as web-page is rendered and Javascript is executed, then kill the whole thing and restart. I don't care about how the page renders graphically at all. Which browser or tool should I use for this? Ideally it should be something self-contained that doesn't require installation (just an EXE file that runs from command line). Lynx would have been ideal but for the fact that it doesn't support JS. It should have as small memory footprint as possible.

  Hello! i need to extract terms with highest frequencies from several lucene indexes, to use them for some semantic analysis. So, I want to get maybe top 30 most occuring terms(still did not decide on threshold, i will analyze results) and their per-index counts. I am aware that I might lose some precision because of potentionally dropped duplicates, but for now, lets say i am ok with that. So for the proposed solutions, (needless to say maybe) speed is not important, since I would do static analysis, I would put accent on simplicity of implementation because im not so skilled with Lucene (not the programming guru too :/ ) and cant wrap my mind around many concepts of it.. I can not find any code samples from something similar, so all concrete advices (code, pseudocode, links to code samples...) I will apretiate very much!!! Thank you!

  Howdy, I'm about to do a git svn dcommit to our svn repo -- and as is recommended in a number of places, I wanted to figure out exactly what I was going to be committing with a dry run. As such I ran: git svn dcommit -n This produced output: Committing to http://somerepo/svn/branches/somebranch diff-tree 1b937dacb302908602caedf1798171fb1b7afc81~1 1b937dacb302908602caedf1798171fb1b7afc81 How do I view this in a format that I can consume as a human? A list of modified files comes to mind. This is probably easy, but running git diff-tree on those hashes gives me a reference to a directory and a some other hashes, as well as some numbers. • C#: standard Windows menu bars in Windows Forms

  I noticed that adding a MenuStrip (from the VS Toolbox) to my form design doesn't yield a menu bar like many native Windows applications. Instead I get a menu bar like VS's own. None of the style settings for MenuStrip appear to mimic the much more common native menu bar. Is there a way to add a menu bar to my Windows Forms application that looks the same as the one you see in Notepad, Task Manager, Windows Explorer and others? (Preferably with the designer, but I wouldn't mind adding it programmatically either.)

• Managing Team Development on Shared Website

  I need to know the best way to manage team web-development on a shared server (hostgator). I have done some individual web development on a shared server in the past, and I have always setup SVN through SSH to have a pretty-nice development workflow (version control, quick-commits, work though eclipse/subclipse, etc). However, I also know that with that setup, I had to make some pretty-sophisticated post-commit hooks to export the repository to /public_html; and, therefore, making the repository code testable. This seems like a tedious and error-prone setup for an entire team. I would like to be able to: Easily test the latest code in the repository. Somewhat easily move the code in the repository to production. Use an IDE like eclipse/subclipse to easily work with the repository. With this in mind, does anyone know of a good version-control/repository setup for developing a website with a team of about 4-5 people? Thanks a lot.

• What to write in "Web location" field when starting an "New website" in Visual Studio 2010?

  I want a website to be deployed automatically to a local IIS (built in Windows XP Pro SP3), avoiding VisualStudio-built-in server if possible. I'd like development source files to be stored in a project folder outside wwwroot (I wouldn't mind built files to be copied to wwwroot each time I press F5). I don't store my projects inside default directories inside "My documents". What should I specify as in "Web location" when starting an "New website" in Visual Studio 2010? A deployment path in wwwroot, a folder where I'd like to save my project, or something else? I want the website to be a part of a complex solution in VS 2010, also icludinc a class libray project, a WinForms application project, a Windows Service project and a common Entitity Framework data model.

• MySQL: updating a row and deleting the original in case it becomes a duplicate

  I have a simple table made up of two columns: col_A and col_B. The primary key is defined over both. I need to update some rows and assign to col_A values that may generate duplicates, for example: UPDATE `table` SET `col_A` = 66 WHERE `col_B` = 70 This statement sometimes yields a duplicate key error. I don't want to simply ignore the error with UPDATE IGNORE, because then the rows that generate the error would remain unchanged. Instead, I want them to be deleted when they would conflict with another row after they have been updated I'd like to write something like: UPDATE `table` SET `col_A` = 66 WHERE `col_B` = 70 ON DUPLICATE KEY REPLACE which unfortunately isn't legal in SQL, so I need help finding another way around. Also, I'm using PHP and could consider a hybrid solution (i.e. part query part php code), but keep in mind that I have to perform this updating operation many millions of times. thanks for your attention, Silvio Reminder: UPDATE's syntax has problems with joins with the same table that is being updated

• How to think in data stores instead of databases?

  As an example, Google App Engine uses data stores, not a database, to store data. Does anybody have any tips for using data stores instead of databases? It seems I've trained my mind to think 100% in object relationships that map directly to table structures, and now it's hard to see anything differently. I can understand some of the benefits of data stores (e.g. performance and the ability to distribute data), but some good database functionality is sacrificed (e.g. joins). Does anybody who has worked with data stores like BigTable have any good advice to working with them?

  I have a configuration file with a lot of data like sensor locations, type, rules for activating devices etc. Basically related to a pervasive system. I plan to design an ontology for this domain. The doubt in my mind is how should I populate the ontology with the information in the configuration file, as the configuration files are going to change every now and then. Earlier I was planning to use XML, so I can just read the configuration file at runtime and create an XML as per the XSD. Do we use the same technique for Ontologies?   Hello, In an app we are calculating a SHA1Hmac in java using the following: SecretKey key = new SecretKeySpec(secret, "HmacSHA1"); Mac m = Mac.getInstance("HmacSHA1"); m.init(secret); byte[] hmac = m.doFinal(data); And later, the hmac is verified in C# - on a SmartCard - using: HMACSHA1 hmacSha = new HMACSHA1(secret); hmacSha.Initialize(); byte[] hmac = hmacSha.ComputeHash(data); However, the result is not the same. Did I overlook something important? The inputs seem to be the same. • .NET AxWebBrowser can't open page "Navigation to the webpage was canceled" error

  Oh, I am stuck again on this quiet annoying problem. I am trying to do a little automated browsing using the axWebBrowser component and it worked before. Now all of a sudden I get the following message when I try to browse to a page. Navigation to the webpage was canceled What you can try: Refresh the page. I totally disabled my firewall, ran VS2008 in Administrator mode, I even installed IE8 all to no avail. By the way IE8 doesn't work either. I don't know if the problem is related but all I get when I put a URL into IE8 is this message. Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage I don't so much mind that, I just really need to get my visual studio axWebBrowser working.
