    How to print lots of Envelopes. I wish to print onto lots of envelopes: A few thousand as a one of task (may repeat each year) Good quality colour photo and graphics that has solid colour (plus some black text) Be painless to operate, I don’t wish to have to clear jams often As I need to put the envelopes into batches, I don’t need an input try that will take hundreds of envelopes. I also need to get a new colour printer to print normal A4 paper; this may or may not be the same printer. I live in the UK, if you care. What should I be looking at?

    Camera phones get a lot of grief for being underpowered but in this video tutorial the crew at SLR Lounge shows how basic technique and a good eye overcome all. Last year over at the photo blog FStoppers they put together a video showing off how you could use the iPhone as a fashion camera–essentially arguing that the camera wasn’t as important as the photographer. A lot of people said “Well yeah, but you had professional models and thousands of dollars in lighting equipment!” in reaction to the video. In turn the crew at SLR Lounge decided to make their own video showing that using only an iPhone camera and two reflectors (as well as an attractive but informal model). It of course helps to have some side kicks to help hold up your reflectors but the point still stands about modern camera phones being perfectly capable of good photos.     After successfully installing Xubuntu 12.04.1 on my laptop, I decided to install Unity. That went OK but then I realized there was no themes. So then I installed the themes and artwork, and got a really bad surprise. My lightDM greeter was still Xubuntu like I wanted but the buttons where you choose the user are really tall and I have a purple computer as the icon above my computer name. How do I get back to the original Xubuntu configuration or edit the CSS while keeping Unity? I know where all of the files are but don't know which file to edit or which CSS property to modify.     This might seem like a rant, but I am curious. CSS replaced tables for layout a long time ago. But we still have to use tables for layout when creating rich emails. Why is this? Are there any other options? Are there really technical constraints that prevent CSS from working in an email. What are they? I can see how linked or embedded style sheets might be a problem, but not even inline styles work. Is this ever going to change?

  • How do you deal with web designers who are too afraid to read and touch PHP code?

    I've been hired to make a website and am working with a designer (who happens to be the guy who is in contact with the client and hired me, so no, I can't kick his ass out =) ) who's too afraid to touch into the php code, and is too newbie in html and css to give me good enough models, so the work of today will be going through his new html model of a half-programmed page and removing s and changing classes and the such. Is there some kind of tool, or some better workflow in order to make this easier for both of us? maybe I'm dealing with this the wrong way altogether, I'm new to web development, and I don't know enough html/css (and he supposedly does) to have him just give me a graphic mock-up and do the whole thing, so what we're doing is he gives me a static html page that looks like he wants, and I put around it =) can anyone give me some advice on this?

  • pop up html as javascript string instead of hidden div for seo [closed]

    Possible Duplicate: How bad is it to use display: none in CSS? I have heard that using display:none or visibility:hidden css properties are not a very good idea for seo purposes. I have about 4 different pop up windows to display and each one has about 20 words inside it. I can create hidden divs. Another option is to store div html elements as javascript string. In this way pop up html elements will be generated from javascript string. This will be still faster than using ajax since the data is static. Is this method absolutely safe for SEO? P.S.: I was just asking about similar question on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12389075/storing-data-in-javascript-array-for-further-use, but this one is different, it is about static data and about SEO.

  • OKI-B2540 printer doesn't print?

    There is a driver for the OKI-B2520, and it is automatically selected when the printer is connected. From looking at various websites, it seems like the B2500, B2520, and B2540 all work perfectly fine with the OKI-B2520 driver, so I let it install that. Everything went smoothly, the printer shows up as available, and I can queue jobs without any problems, and they disappear after a few seconds. However, nothing actually comes out. There is no error message on the printer display, or from Ubuntu. This is the output from the CUPS error log: http://pastebin.com/S6ifZAup So my question is: What is wrong??

    I started coding almost a year ago. By "coding" I mean HTML(5), CSS(3), and only few times I implemented some AJAX and JavaScript. I am interviewing for a position that expects me to know HTML, CSS, JS, JQuery, and AJAX. I feel confident in HTML5/CSS3 subject area and somewhat ok with javascript. Will agency expect from me to write some code during the interview? I do have a live website as an example which contains snapshots of past projects which were sent to them. I am little nervous, so any tips or recommendations are welcome.

    My brother just started learning some html/css at school and he loves it. He asked me to give my advice on what languages to learn in order to build great web-apps by the time he leaves school. (2015 or something like that.) I did some research, and right now I want to tell him (in this particular order): HTML - HTML5 CSS - CSS3 Javascript - jQuery - AJAX PHP - Zend Framework MySQL Ruby - RoR I would like to know if this is correct before I waste his time.   • Incrementing ticket numbers each time I print

    I have an excel sheet where I have a set 4 identical tickets to print per page which we use for stock takes. Rather then creating a huge document with 1000 pages for 4000 tickets each with their own unique ticket number (starting from 1) I would like to find a Macro or function which will print a page with 4 tickets on (1,2,3,4) then continue to print another with (5,6,7,8) and so on. I have found some code that people have already written but it has only applied to one number changing per page rather than 4 simultaneously and being a complete visual basic novice, I was unable to change the code to suit my preferences. If someone could explain simply how I could achieve this I would be very very grateful :)

  • confusion understanding the fluid 2 column navigation layout

    I'm trying to understand the following cross-browser layout: http://matthewjamestaylor.com/blog/perfect-2-column-left-menu.htm but I'm having some confusion with some of its parts and there isn't enough information on the page or in the css comments to help me. What is the purpose of the .colleft div? Why can't the 2 columns be directly under the .colmask container? Why does the .colleft div have a right 75%? I don't understand its purpose/benefit. Why don't the widths of .col1 and .col2 add up to 100%? How was left:102% calculated for .col1 and left:6% for .col2? The comments for this are not very clear to me. How is it any different from not even specifiying a left/right css property?
