• how to find out which servers are accessing Oracle Internet Directory ?

  Hi, We have a OID which is maintaining data about various users. This OID is being accessed by many weblogic servers. Weblogic servers are getting authenticated using this LDAP, but when a particular server authentication fails it causes authentication process failure for all servers, so we want to track that specific server which is causing this error. Is there any facility to know which servers are using the OID or i would like to know that does OID maintains any LOGs of its usage for security purpose.. Thanks.

  Apache: I have multiple domains on one hosting. I have a web-management software listening to port 3000 and one phpmyadmin. Can I restrict access to a certain domain? I mean that example.com:3000 will work and notexample.com:3000 not? (same for phpmyadmin) UPD: I have 3 IP's pointing to that host.   I've set up an OpenLDAP-Server to authenticate users to our Ubuntu-servers. The authentication works quite well but I'd like to restict the user's access to certain servers. I know this can be done through nss_base_something in the client's ldap.conf. However, this requires the group restrictions to be specified on the client. I wonder if the restrictions can be set completely in OpenLDAP. If it is, I'd like to know how. Thanks, AC

• New Exchange 2010 CAS cannot find domain controllers

  I am experiencing problems migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. I am on the first step: installing a new 2010 Client Access Server role. The Active Directory domain functional level is 2003. All domain controllers are 2003 R2. The only existing Exchange 2003 server happens to be housed on one of the domain controllers. It is running Exchange 2003 Standard w/ SP2. IPv6 is enabled and working on all domain controllers, servers, and routers, including this new Exchange server. After installing the CAS role on a new 2008 R2 server (Hyper-V VM) I am receiving 2114 Events: Process MSEXCHANGEADTOPOLOGYSERVICE.EXE (PID=1600). Topology discovery failed, error 0x80040a02 (DSC_E_NO_SUITABLE_CDC). Look up the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) error code specified in the event description. To do this, use Microsoft Knowledge Base article 218185, "Microsoft LDAP Error Codes." Use the information in that article to learn more about the cause and resolution to this error. Use the Ping or PathPing command-line tools to test network connectivity to local domain controllers. Prior to each, I receive the following 2080 Event: Process MSEXCHANGEADTOPOLOGYSERVICE.EXE (PID=1600). Exchange Active Directory Provider has discovered the following servers with the following characteristics: (Server name | Roles | Enabled | Reachability | Synchronized | GC capable | PDC | SACL right | Critical Data | Netlogon | OS Version) In-site: b.company.intranet CDG 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 s.company.intranet CDG 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 Out-of-site: a.company.intranet CD- 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 o.company.intranet CD- 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 g.company.intranet CD- 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Connectivity between the new Exchange server and all domain controllers via IPv4 and IPv6 are all working. I have verified that the new Exchange server is a member of the following groups: Exchange Servers Exchange Domain Servers Exchange Install Domain Servers Exchange Trusted Subsystem Heck, I even put the new Exchange server into Domain Admins just to see if it would help. It didn't. I can't find any evidence of Active Directory replication problems, all pre-setup Setup tasks (/PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions, /PrepareSchema, /PrepareAD, /PrepareDomain) completed successfully. The only problem so far that I haven't been able to resolve with my Active Directory is I am unable to get my IPv6 subnets into Sites and Services Where should I proceed from here?

  we're using ldap with sssd for the usermanagement, so our users are not in the "/etc/passwd" Unfortunately, ps just shows the UIDs: [root@xyz ~]# id jmw uid=1582(jmw) gid=1582(jmw) groups=1582(jmw), 1000(admins) [root@xyz ~]# ps aux [..cutting some output..] 1582 26794 25.0 0.4 190420 38508 ? S 12:15 0:00 /usr/bin/php-cgi -c php.ini [..cutting some output..] How can i poll the username, that belongs to a UID? ( a grep ':1582:' /etc/passwd doesn't work ;-) )

  I have setup a dedicated LAN for Cobbler tests. My setup is: Cobbler server: openSUSE 12.3, cobbler 2.2.2 (from openSUSE repos) Imported distros: Centos 6.5, Red Hat 6.5, Red Hat 7.0, openSUSE 13.1 Target Machine: VMs in a Windows 7 Virtualbox Systems provisioning works OK, but I have some problems. The first one is that cobbler does not honor the "pxe_just_once: 1" setting. When the setup of the target OS is finished, after the reboot the target systems continues to PXE boot! The second problem is that the target server is not correctly configured! • Google chrome proxy authentication dialogue timeout

  I am on a network that uses LDAP proxy for authentication based on a username and password. Whenever I start Google Chrome, it pops up with a proxy authentication dialogue, but the dialogue disappears automatically after variable amount of time (sometimes it stays for 5 seconds some times less than 1 second). I have found the same issue with Chromium also. Is there any configuration I can set to control this timeout, or say, auto-authenticate with my authentication details from the shell or DE (Gnome3 on Arch)?

  Basically i am working through a book called..Foundation Actionscript 3.0 Animation, making things move. i am now on Chapter 9 - collision detection. On two lines of my code i get the 1135 error, letting me know that i have an incorrect number of arguments. In the development environment, this is the jazn-data.xml file. After you configure the jazn-data.xml file using the editors, you can run the application in Integrated WebLogic Server and the contents of the policy store will be added to the domain-level store, the system-jazn-data.xml file, while the test users will be migrated to the embedded LDAP server that Integrated WebLogic Server uses for its identity store. The domain-level store allows you to test the security implementation by logging on as test users that you have created. looks like above part did went well with me, apart from following all instruction provided in doc, I need to create users from adminconsole in security-realms-Users and Groups sections to successfully login to pages.

  Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree... We have a Domain Controller "DC1". We have Exchange Server 2010 "Postman". Say I have an Address Book: And I add a few contacts to it: How then do I get the data from that contact via ADSI? Say I want the Job Title or CustomerID field that I filled out in the Contacts list?   I need to prevent users from authenticating through Kerberos when the encrypted /home/users has not yet been mounted. (This is to avoid corrupting the ecryptfs mountpoint) Currently I have these lines in /etc/pam.d/common-auth: auth required pam_group.so use_first_pass auth [success=2 default=ignore] pam_krb5.so minimum_uid=1000 try_first_pass auth [success=1 default=ignore] pam_unix.so nullok_secure try_first_pass I am planning to use pam_exec.so to execute a script that will exit 1 if the ecyptfs mounts are not ready yet. Doing this: auth required pam_exec.so /etc/security/check_ecryptfs will lock me out for good if ecryptfs for some reason fails. In such case I would like to at least be able to login with a local (non-kerberos) user to fix the issue. Is there some sort of AND-Operator in which I can say that login through kerberos+ldap is only sufficient if both kerberos authentication and the ecryptfs mount has succeeded?

• Upgrading 8.10 server to LTS

  I'm in a plan to upgrade ubuntu 8.10 vbox vm servers to LTS(obviously 10.04) as 8.10 has no support. As far as I know I'll be executing the following to upgrade: apt-get install update-manager-core do-release-upgrade anybody could tell me how could I upgrade a ubuntu server from alternate iso image(Is the alternate iso image used for desktop editons the same used for servers?)? I heard it's possible to upgrade an LTS directly to another LTS and how could I do this after upgrading 8.10 to 9.04 then directly to 10.04 skipping 9.10? 8.10 servers are hosting many services/applications/databases like apache2, tomcat6, ldap, mysql, cvs... and I'm not sure that all of them work as ever after the upgrade. If there is any precautions that I've to following before upgrading, please anyone let me know(ofcourse backup and I'm not going to take backup as I will be trying this on a copy of vdi/vmdk vms) Thanks!

To do so, you need to get the comm_dssetup 6.4 patch, patch the comm_dssetup script, and then run the patched comm_dssetup against your Directory Server(s) instances. In addition, if you are using the nsUniqueId attribute as your deployment's unique identifier, you'll want to change that to the new davUniqueId attribute. Consult the Upgrade Procedure for details, as well as DaBrain's blog, before forging ahead with this upgrade.
