• Access ASP.NET control using javascript

  I have a basic javascript function like this which works as I am able to dynamically change the textbox in a javascript method at runtime. function MyTst(pVal2) { var x = document.getElementById('<%=myImage.ClientID%>'); x.src = "/images/write.gif"; } In the above code I need to be generic. So replace '<%=myImage.ClientID%' with the input param to my method which in this instance is called pVal2 and contains the asp.net server control image id. Can anyone advise on an approach to do this. I've tried lots of things and just cant seem to get it working. Thanks for any advice.

  Hello, I have been using xVal with success for a while but this evening ran into an issue where a field containing a period would not be validated (client or server-side). I am using ASP.NET MVC2 and need to use the period syntax in cases where I am model binding to a list. In the below example I am using a textbox for the sake of simplicity: xVal.AttachValidator(null, { "Fields": [{ "FieldName": "entry[622592].Value", "FieldRules": [{ "RuleName": "Required", "RuleParameters": {}}]}] }, {}) <input type="text" class="text" name="entry[622592].Value"/> If I replace both instances of "entry[622592].Value" to something trivial like "test" then the validation works successfully, but if i leave it this way the validation never appears to fire... • Added AJAX controls to toolkit but can't add them to webpage, no smart tags

  Added AJAX controls to my toolkit as per directions online. They appear in the AJAX Toolkit tab in the toolbox just fine. Try to add them to design view and does not work. Tried selecting the textbox and clicking the smart tag to add the extender but there is not smart tag. Googled and found suggestion to reset toolbox and re-add AJAX controls. Did that and problem remains. Any help is appreciated!!!

After the user "student" insert his/her subject I want to let the user click a button that will get the mark and the number of the credit hours of each subject. Calculate the GPA for the student and put the result in a textbox. I am having trouble getting started. Any advice for a good place to start?

  How can I check what objects, tools, variables, anything... are used from .NET 2.0 in a C# application. How can I get a C# application run without .NET 2.0 ? UPDATE: sorry, I didn't clarify enought. Here's my situation: I have developed a pretty simple application in C#: embeded browser which displayes static webpages with an option of searching inside of these html pages. I'm using simple textbox, buttons components for this. The application will be distribuited for people wich have very old PCs, even with windows 95. I would like the app to be runable on it, or at least on win 98, without telling the people to install .NET 2.0, as the users don;t really have PC usage skills :) .

  I want to trigger event just right after I stop typing (not while typing) characters in my input textbox. On this fiddle I demonstrate the same problem with a simple alert instead of an AJAX. Is there a solution for this or I'm just using a bad approach for this?

• Linux program - reverse highlighted text

  I want to develop a program that will run on the background of my Ubuntu 12.04 so when some text is selected in some textbox of any running program and some key-combination is pressed (like ctrl-F12), the text will be cut, reversed, and pasted in the same place. I know some programs that do it on windows. It is useful in some programs and web-pages that do not support right-to-left languages like arabic and hebrew - the letters are printed from left to right so the text becomes reversed. More specifically I need it in Prezi that has this kind of bug in their embedded flash editor (I thought about writing a chrome-plugin, but I don't think such plugin can manipulate the selected text inside a flash objects). Do you know if such a program exist? Where should I start reading in order to develop a program with such capabilities (manipulate selected text in other programs)? Thanks

  I know the built-in ASP.Net validators come with a client-side framework, however I've been unable to find anything that lets me check a single validator for it's Valid state. I expect it to be possible though, so I hope someone in here knows how to do it :-) The validator in question is a RegularExpressionValidator, which I use to determine whether an e-mail address is valid or not. • How can I get my UserControl to look like a ComboBox?

  I have a user control containing a TextBox, ToggleButton and Popup, just like the real ComboBox. Now my problem is to style it so that it looks just like the normal ComboBox. In Blend, I can "Edit Template/Edit a Copy..." of a real ComboBox to get the bits and pieces I need to get it to look right. For one Windows theme (Aero). If the application is run on another theme (e.g Luna), the control does not change its look, it still has the Aero look. Do I have to supply a style/template for each Windows theme, or can I somehow get hold of (at run-time) the default ComboBox style and apply it to my UserControl? Instead of making a UserControl, I have tried modifying a real ComboBox to my needs, but I just couldn't get it to work. How can I replace ALL the logic of a ComboBox with my own?

• looping thru a list of checkboxes and saving the values, now working properly

  Hello all, I'm having a bit of a problem with this code. The program gives me a list of checkboxes but a user ID. then u user can change his selection and push the save button (id="btnSaveUserIntersts") and i am trying to save in the hidden textbox all the values of the checkboxes that was choosen. The problem is that i am getting all the time the same selections that came form the database and not getting the new selection that the user made. • Display only file name in FileUpload control

  I have a webpage in asp.net 3.5 that uses the FileUpload control. When a user clicks on the "Browse" button (which is part of the control) the control displays a file select popup (dialog box). When the user selects the file which they wish to upload, by default the full path to the file is shown in the textbox (which is also part of the control); however, I wish for it to only display the file name and not the full path. Anyone know of a slick and easy way to do this?

  I am new to C# and trying to create my 1st app. I have 3 errors. The first two say that txtSalary and Salary do not exist. The 3rd says that it cannot convert method group 'ToString' to non-delegate type 'string'. and asks if I intend to invoke the method. Then numeric answer converted to string and displayed in messagebox named txtSalary. Please show me what I got wrong because according to the book, I am not missing anything.

  I have an automatically binded DataGridView that obtains data and update data directly from a Strongly Typed Dataset and its TableAdapter. the DataGridView allows data editing but I'm having issues dealing with bad formatted data input. For example, one of the columns is a date, formatted in the database as datetime, 11/05/2010. You can edit the date and the DataGridView opens a TextBox in wich you can enter letters, simbols and other unauthorised characters. When you finish editing the cell if has such bad data it throws a System.FormatException How can I prevent some data to be entered? Is there a way to "filter" that data before it is sent back to the DataGridView?

  Let's say I have two webforms, A.aspx and B.aspx, where B.aspx contains some simple web controls such as a textbox and a button. I'm trying to do the following: When A.aspx is requested, I want to dynamically call and load B.aspx into memory and output details of all the controls contained in B.aspx. Here is what I tried in the codebehind for A.aspx: var compiledType = BuildManager.GetCompiledType("~/b.aspx"); if (compiledType != null) { var pageB = (Page)Activator.CreateInstance(compiledType); } foreach (var control in pageB.Controls) { //output some details for each control, like it's name and type... } When I try the code above, the controls collection for pageB is always empty. So im using cache to hold the selectteditem from the dropdownlist. Problem: The process is going fine.
