  • Loading large amounts of data to an Oracle SQL Database

    Hey all, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with what I am about to embark on. I have several csv files which are all around a GB or so in size and I need to load them into a an oracle database. While most of my work after loading will be read-only I will need to load updates from time to time. Basically I just need a good tool for loading several rows of data at a time up to my db. Here is what I have found so far: I could use SQL Loader t do a lot of the work I could use Bulk-Insert commands Some sort of batch insert. Using prepared statement somehow might be a good idea. I guess I was wondering what everyone thinks is the fastest way to get this insert done. Any tips?

  • Dynamicall Rendering in a Scrollable Area

    What is the generic algorithm or process that is commonly used to dynamically render portions of a scrolling area? For example, in Google Maps, when the user scrolls past the bounds of the currently rendered area, a grey checkerboard pattern is displayed within the not-yet-rendered portions while the application loads and renders those areas. I'm looking specifically for the approach, or the mathematics, related to filling a graphics area in chunks based on what has just come into view. If possible, I'm looking for anything relevant to the GDI+ process of doing so.

  • Options for header in raw byte file.

    I have a large raw data file (up to 1GB) which contains raw samples from a USB data logger. I need to store extra information relating to the file (sample rate, description, trigger point, last seek position etc) and was looking into adding this as a some sort of header. The header file should ideally be human readable and flexible so I've so far ruled out some sort of binary serialization into a header. I also want to avoid two separate files as they could end up separated when copied or backed up. I remembered somebody telling me that newer *.*x Microsoft Office documents are actually a number of files in a zip. Is there a simple way to achieve this? Could I still keep the quick seek times to the raw file?

  • Default controller name is removed on browser refresh (CodeigniterPHP/Nginx issue?)

    For all pages in my codeigniter app except my default controller, when I refresh the browser the url isn't affected as one would expect. However for my default controller, main.php, when when I refresh the browser at "http://localhost/main" or "http://mysite.com/main", the main part is stripped off the url. So the browser bar shows just "http://localhost" or "http://mysite.com". Totally lost on where to start with this but was just wondering if anyone has come across this before...? Here's what I think could be the relevant part of my nginx.conf (if Nginx is the problem). if ($request_uri ~* ^(/main(/index)?|/index(.php)?)/?$) { rewrite ^(.*)$ / permanent; }

  • CakePHP HABTM Filtering

    Hi, I've got two tables - users and servers, and for the HABTM relationship, users_servers. Users HABTM servers and vice versa. I'm trying to find a way for Cake to select the servers that a user is assigned to. I'm trying things like $this->User->Server->find('all'); which just returns all the servers, regardless of whether they belong to the user. $this->User->Server->find('all', array('conditions' => array('Server.user_id' => 1))) just gives an unknown column SQL error. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious but just need someone to point me in the right direction. Thanks!

  • Querying a perimeter around a Geocode-Location (Lat/Lon)

    Hi, how can I search for geo-objects in a certain perimeter ? E.g. I have several objects with Lat/Lon coordinates stored in my DB. Now I want to retrieve all the objects which lie in a specific perimeter (10 miles or 20 miles) around a given point. I guess what I would have to do is to form some query like: SELECT * FROM objects o where o.lat < (myPositionLat+x) AND o.lon < (myPositionLon+y) Is this right? How do I determine/set the values for x and y?

  • Maven Assembly: include a dependency with a different classifier

    I would like to build two different versions of a WAR in Maven (I know that's a no-no, that's just the way it is given the current situation). In the version of a WAR depicted by an assembly, I want to replace a dependency by the same dependency with a different classifier. For example, I was expecting this assembly to work: <assembly> <id>end-user</id> <formats> <format>war</format> </formats> <dependencySets> <dependencySet> <excludes> <exclude>group:artifact:jar:${project.version}</exclude> </excludes> <includes> <include>group:artifact:jar:${project.version}:end-user</include> </includes> </dependencySet> </dependencySets> </assembly> This doesn't work, but am I heading in the right direction? I've already read all the pages on the Maven assembly page and the section on the Maven Definitive Guide that seems relevant. Any pointers would be helpful.

  • How to define RequestMapping prioritization

    I have a situation where I need the following RequestMapping: @RequestMapping(value={"/{section}"}) ...method implementation here... @RequestMapping(value={"/support"}) ...method implementation here... There is an obvious conflict. My hope was that Spring would resolve this automatically and map /support to the second method, and everything else to the first, but it instead maps /support to the first method. How can I tell Spring to allow an explicit RequestMapping to override a RequestMapping with a PathVariable in the same place? (Edit - this is simplified, I know that having those two RequestMapping alone wouldn't make much sense)

  • Quick and easy flood protection?

    I have a site where a user submits a message using AJAX to a file called like.php. In this file the users message is submitted to a database and it then sends a link back to the user. In my Javascript code I disabled the text box the user types into when they submit the AJAX request. The only problem is, a malicious user can just constantly send POST requests to like.php and flood my database. So I would like to implement simple flood protection. I don't really want the hassle of another database table logging users IPs and such... as if they are flooding my site there will be a lot of database read/writes slowing it down. I thought about using sessions, like have a session that contains a timestamp that gets checked every time they send data to like.php, and if the current time is before the timestamp let them add data to the database, otherwise send out an error and block them. If they are allowed to enter something into the database, update their session with a new timestamp. What do you think? Would this be the best way to go about it or are there easier alternatives? My question is, how do I select the full pdf page and flip it round to display correctly. I have seen a few examples using ScaleCTM and TranslateCTM but couldn't seem to get them working.     First we find the MSB of the first integer, and then try to find a region of N contiguous zero bits within the second number which is to the left of the MSB from the first integer. I have also implemented similar algorithms but working to the right of the MSB of the first number, so they don't require this seemingly extra condition. How can I get rid of this extra condition, or even, are there far more optimal solutions?

  • My PHP script for sending emails wont send

    Well I'm working on a school project, and I uploaded my script to send emails. I'm pretty much using whats defined here: http://www.webcheatsheet.com/PHP/send_email_text_html_attachment.php . Now, all I really changed(other than the contents), is the receiver, to my email address. However, I'm not getting it in my inbox. Is there something else I need? Do I need to do something with the settings on the server(or have my school enable something)?

  • text watermark on website? how to do it?

    I am a C++/C# developer and never spent time working on web pages. I would like to put text (randomly and diagonally perhaps) in large letters across the background of some pages. I want to be able to read the foreground text and also be able to read the "watermark". I understand that is probably more of a function of color selection.
