• Display not using xorg.conf?

  How can I force my PC to use the xorg.conf file ? I have it set up correctly and it is located at etc/x11/xorg.conf but it is ignored by at start up, I know the file is valid as I created it using nvidia-settings. I just do not know why it is been ignored. Yes, this is T-1 the precursor to the Cyberdyne Systems T-101 (and you know where that will lead to...) It is demonstrating a heartbeat using a simple Java SE Embedded program to drive it.   I am seeing people complaining about expensive tools such as Dreamweaver or Photoshop. I am just wondering about that, because everyone knows that they can get this software running for free (if it is done illegally). Why don't they just use a cracked version? Is it so likely to get caught? I feel that nowadays a lot of people are using cracked software but whenever the topic is mentioned, they ALL say PSSST!!! or start criticizing it, even though they are doing it themselves...

• Ubuntu 12.10 webapps don't open correctly when using Chromium

  I have just installed Ubuntu 12.10 completely fresh, the old version of Ubuntu was discarded or overwritten (or whatever you call it). I want to use the Ubuntu webapps with Chromium but I've had several problems. }The first problem is that Chromium won't ask me if I want to install a webapp if I go to a supported site (and I don't already have the webapp installed). The second problem is that when I install the webapp by visiting the site in Firefox, and then I try to open it in Chromium, Ubuntu will open a completely new Chromium icon and window in the Launcher, and the icon will be labeled "Untitled"; also there is no search bar in the new window, only the tab at the top. I've tried using several webapps with Firefox set as the default browser and they work as expected: once the webapp icon is clicked a Firefox window is opened on the Firefox launcher icon, and the window has 'new tab' button and search bar.

• XBMC using a lot of CPU when fullscreen

  I'm just starting to try out XBMC (from the ubuntu repo) and noticed that it's using a lot of CPU when running fullscreen, even when I'm not playing a movie. There's a definite lag even on the home page with the scrolling footer. I've toggled the option to use it in windowed mode and it seems to be a lot more responsive. The footer lag seems to be gone. Does anyone know why this is happening? I would have thought that running fullscreen would have used less resources.

• Launch Rhythmbox using a Keyboard shorcut

  I use Rhythmbox all the time in my Ubuntu. Is it possible to have a custom shortcut like Ctrl+R in Ubuntu, which can launch the Rhythmbox window, even if it is playing in the background ? Since, the emphasis of Linux OS flavors is to use keyboards as much as possible instead of mouse, i thought this functionality might tremendously help me in my Ubuntu environment. The Keyboard shortcuts sections asks for a command; So, I'm not able to figure out how to give a custom keyboard shortcut to a program like Rhythmbox. I'm using 12.04 if that helps. Thanks.

• Circle physics and collision using vectors

  This is a problem I've been having, When making a set number of filled circles at random locations on a JPanel and applying a gravity (a negative change in the y), each of the circles collide.   I am trying to create a roguelike game using c++ and SDL. However, I am having trouble getting it to display the map, which is represented by a 2d array of a tile class.   I want to upgrade my machine with a new Motherboard, RAM and Processor. I am planning on doing a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04. The Motherboard I want to use is an Asrock 970 Extreme4 which uses an AMI 32 MBit UEFI BIOS. My Question is, is there anything I have to watch out for during the installation process? Cause I have read that some people have trouble booting into ubuntu using a UEFI BIOS. Any advice? I don't want to spend all that money for the different parts only to find out that I can only use windows properly. Thanks in advance

• Laptop overheats while using Internet

  YES I have figured out that my laptop overheats while using the internet via an Ethernet port through a broadband connection.Strange isn't it ? Well I need to know WHY ? . I have installed ATI Graphics : Vesa Madison as they appear to be working very fine. Temperature of my i7-hp pavilion dv6 rises from 67degrees to a superhot 85+ and also to 106degrees where my laptop shuts down. When running torrents or Chromium I hardly open 4 Tabs so there is no chance for CPU over-loading due to multiple processes.NEED HELP.And Thank You for your time.

So, I need only one object of class Reader and it will cache the user details instead of making multiple db calls. I am using static so that it the object gets created only once. Is this the right approach or should I do something else?

  I am going over the memory architecture for my game and even though I know my memory budgets may not be final, I at the point where I can start using them in a general sense. I know that I will need several allocators (for systems such as audio, rendering, etc) but I am unsure of how they will be accessed. I do not use singletons, so I can't just have something such as AudioManager::GetInstance().get_allocator(). Instead, I need to find a different method of usage but I am not sure of how. How can I store and call my allocators needed for several different systems over engine in an efficient manner?

• Using gerrit (or similar tool) on a team where multiple devs work on a single feature

  We have a team of roughly ~8 devs who regularly work on the same feature over the course of a 3 week sprint. It isn't quite pair programming, but in our current workflow devs regularly push up incomplete code for a colleague to complete. This worked fine before we introduced Gerrit, but now our commits need to represent chunks of test-passing, complete, logical functionality, and so the model breaks. My only idea is to have everybody push up to a separate, untracked branch up until the functionality is ready for review, then squash everything into commits that make sense and push up. Is there another Gerrit-ized workflow that could work? I know this is a widely discussed topic on Google Groups, and that there has recently been some discussion of Gerrit topic reviews, but I wanted to see if there is anybody out there using Gerrit in this way, and what the suggested workflow would be.

• How can I teleport seamlessly, without using interpolation?

  I've been implementing Bukkit plugin for creating toggleable in-game warping areas that will teleport any catched entity to other similar area. I was going to implement concept of non-Euclidean maze using this plugin, but, unfortunately, I've discovered that doing Entity.teleport() causes client to interpolate movement while teleporting, so player slides towards target like Enderman and receives screen updates, so for a split second all underground stuff is visible. While for "just teleport me where I want" usage this is just fine, it ruins whole idea of seamless teleporting, as player can clearly see when transfer happened even without need to look at debug screen. Is there possibility to somehow disable interpolating while teleporting without modifying client, or maybe prevent client from updating screen while it's being teleported?

  I tried resetting the password of windows 7 Using 'chntpw' command in Ubuntu . It showed success . But when I try to login from Windows it does not seem to be changed. I first used live USB of ubuntu 11.10 and did ''Try Ubuntu''. Then I did sudo apt-get install chntpw and then cd /media/Vista/Windows/System32/config sudo chntpw -u username sam . I did according to this link . http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntucat/resetwindowspasswordold/ and got success like this. Hives that have changed: Name 0 Write hive files? (y/n) [n] : y 0 – OK . But when I try to login to windows with blank password , I could not login. I also tried changing the password and showed success but I could not login with that password . Thank you . Any help is very much appreciated.
