• Cannot access a very specific site from my router

  This is a problem for me because this site is important to me. It's MY website. And sadly my email is hosted on my site (which I cant access either) When I try to access my website when connected to my Linksys E3000 router, these days it simply just doesn't go through. Trace complete. C:\Users\Kyle> SHAW Cable being my ISP. Figuring this was all something to do with some setting I made on the router, I reset the thing back to factory defaults. Nope. So I'm at a bit of a loss what to do here, as NO device (Computers, Laptops, Tablets, Phones, PS3/ 360, etc) can access my site or its features, so it's not just my computer either. But every other site is just fine. When I connect to my neighbors router, the site comes up just fine. And shes with SHAW as well. What should I do?!

• How to set up dual quadro cards on RHEL 5.5?

  I have a RHEL 5 workstation with 2 nvidia Quadro FX4500 cards, with one display attached to each card. After doing a clean install of RHEL 5.5, the second display doesnt work (it worked ok in RHEL 5.2). Neither separate X screens nor Xinerama are working. The kernel version is 2.6.18-194.el5 I've tried nvidia drivers 185.18.36 (the ones that i was using on 5.2) and the latest 260.19.36 and neither works. • DHCP and DNS on none AD 2003 Server PTR is updating but no A records

  I have a strange issue, I have a DHCP and DNS server running in a non AD environment, on Windows 2003 server. I setup DHCP to update DNS A and PTR records even if the client doesnt request it, but I only see PTR records updated, the A records are not created at all. The domain is "local" forward zone is called "local" and in the option 15 set to "local" (actual name) the PTR records are created with the right name (example: win64_ent.local), What am I missing here ?

  On my ubuntu 10.04 VPS, I get regular 500 error on nginx (0.7.??)+ fcgi web server running a durpal site. and when I trace the nginx error log I see plenty of these: socket() failed: No buffer space available) while connecting to upstream ..., I have tried differnt combination configs but none fixed the problem. Currently I have 3 nginx workers, Keep-alive time out 15 seconds and and PHP_FCGI_CHILDREN=5 PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUESTS=1000 I really appreciate if you Can you suggest a solution to this annoying problem.

• NFS issue brings down entire vSphere ESX estate

  I experienced an odd issue this morning where an NFS issue appeared to have taken down the majority of my VMs hosted on a small vSphere 5.0 estate. The infrastructure itself is 4x IBM HS21 blades running around 20 VMs. The storage is provided by a single HP X1600 array with attached D2700 chassis running Solaris 11. There's a couple of storage pools on this which are exposed over NFS for the storage of the VM files, and some iSCSI LUNs for things like MSCS shared disks. Normally, this is pretty stable, but I appreciate the lack of resiliancy in having a single X1600 doing all the storage. It turned out that pretty much all of the VMs were inaccessible, and that the ESX hosts either were describing each VM as 'powered off', 'powered on', or 'unavailable'. The VMs described as 'powered on' where not in any way reachable or responding to pings, so this may be lies. There's absolutely no indication on the X1600 that anything was awry, and nothing on the switches to indicate any loss of connectivity. I only managed to resolve the issue by rebooting the ESX hosts in turn. I have a number of questions: What the hell happened? If this was a temporary NFS failure, why did it put the ESX hosts into a state from which a reboot was the only recovery? In the future, when the NFS server goes a little off-piste, what would be the best approach to add some resilience? I've been looking at budgeting for next year and potentially have budget to purchase another X1600/D2700/disks, would an identical mirrored disk setup help to mitigate these sorts of failures automatically? root's .profile and .shrc, tmux works perfectly. Occasionally (twice out of the 50 or so times I've tested it), the splitting will work fine once in a session. (This happened for example when I ran ktrace on tmux, which I can also post) To explain the 'suddenly' part of the title: when I started my newly updated mysql56-server, tmux immediately exited and lost the session. Recently I changed architectures, from FreeBSD 10.0 i386 to amd64, and I am still working through shared library incompatibilities. I suspect that this could be involved, but I can't imagine how an incompatibility of this sort could result in such a specific, isolated failure.

  I was wondering whether it is better to put a laptop into sleep or hibernation in Windows 7, and suspend or hibernate in Ubuntu: when carrying the laptop in a backpack and walking or slow-running to another place in around 15 minutes, Or just when the lid is closed. My concerns are if the heat generated and accumulated and bumping from transmit will do harm to the laptop, and I can miss other important factors. Is sleep in Windows 7 same as suspend in Ubuntu? • Installing gcc on AIX 5.3

I downloaded the gcc 4.2.4, unpacked it and tried to install it seems there is something missing; untar takes around 15 minutes and ends with an error trying to create a directory starting with @ sign. and in the gcc folder itself, I can't find a configure or a Makefile to install any hint on how to do so?

  Hi As a little experiment I thinking of converting some video/movies/tv-series into a format that could be playable on my K850, but to be a little bit more generic in this question let's say "mid range Sony Ericsson" phone since they all more or less behave the same and has the same screen resolution (240 x 320). I am looking for command line based tools (for Ubuntu), since I am thinking about writing a "convert and move" script later if it is successful. A lot of the video I have is encoded in mkv/h264, but since that is not supported by the phone I guess that I need to convert it into some mp4/mpeg4 low quality video. After some googling it seems like a good candidate for the job is ffmpeg, but that seems to be a very versatile tool with a lot of magic tricks. Am I on the right track? And if so how do I use ffmpeg to do this? Thanks Johan Update: After plating a little bit with ffmeg I noticed that it only uses 1 of my 4 cores, so the transcoding takes forever. I found a arg called -threads but that did not change much, maybe I got it wrong. I found this in the official manual: If you transfer video clips using another program than Media Go™, we recommend that you select H.264 Baseline profile video, up to QVGA at 30 fps, VBR 384 kbps (max 768 kps) with AAC+ audio at 128 kbps (max 255 kbps), 48 kHz and stereo audio in mp4 file format. So the idea to use H264 seems to be correct.

  Whenever I use my iPod Touch G4 (iOS 4.1) at home, I cannot play Youtube videos using the Youtube app. The lists of videos shows correctly, but when I tap to play a video and the video toolbar shows up, a dialog box shows "The server is not correctly configured" and the video is not played. When I turn off my Privoxy (v3.0.15) proxy, the video plays correctly. How can I use Privoxy as the global default proxy while still retaining Youtube App functionality?

The same thing happens to hello.html so it's not working with static content either. Apache's access_log contains: 88.112.152.31 - - [10/Aug/2009:12:15:14 +0300] "GET /demo/index.jsp HTTP/1.1" 404 952 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2" I couldn't find any mention of the request in Tomcat's logs. If I shutdown this specific tomcat, I no longer get Tomcat's 404 but Apache's 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable, so I should be configuring the correct Tomcat. Is there something obvious that I'm missing? Is there any place where I could find out what path the Tomcat is using to look for requested files?

• Kernel upgrade CentOS 5.3 mount: could not find filesystem '/dev/root'

  We have a CentOS 5.3 x64 server that by default runs kernel version 2.6.18-164.11.1 and we are attempting to upgrade the box to 2.6.31.12 The drive is LVM +ext3, and the problem I'm having is when I upgrade the kernel and attempt to boot from it, no matter what version of the kernel I use, I get /dev/root not found towards the end of the boot process, and the kernel panics, and than reboots. I'm installing the kernel exactly as it says in this doc. I've tried it "The centOS way " using make rpm and than installing that. I've updated my mkinitrd. The most interesting part of this problem is that it has been so frustrating that I decided to try and clean install centos on an identical machine without LVM, and the result is EXACTLY the same. After upgrading the kernel, I get /dev/root not found. Does anyone know how to fix this, or what information would be relevant to remedy it? I'm open to try anything at this point. One more interesting thing about this problem is that in the new version of the kernel, during boot it complains that dm-mapper is started twice, than panics right after that. I've tried this with other kernel versions, and the result is the same. What am I missing here? If you need any more files, please just ask. • Which Apache/OpenSSL version required for EV SAN SSL certificate?

  Which version of Apache and OpenSSL (mod_ssl?) is required to use a EV SAN SSL certificate? As far as I have been able to find out Apache version 2.2.15+ should be fine, but what about OpenSSL? Can I assume that the 0.9.8m that comes bundled with 2.2.15 will work fine? (EV SAN SSL = Extended Validation SAN certificate)
