    Given the following information Public Enum Request As Byte None = 0 Identity = 1 License = 2 End Enum Protected mType As Communication.Request mType = Communication.Request.Identity Debug.Print (BitConverter.GetBytes(mType).Length.tostring) 2 Why does bitconverter report that mType is a length of 2. I would have thought that passing a Byte into BitConverter.GetBytes would just return the Byte. I mean it's no big deal because it's only sending a very small block of data across a TCP Socket, but I'm just intrigued why it thinks it's 2 bytes.

    In MS SQL is it possible to share an identity seed across tables? For example I may have 2 tables: Table: PeopleA id name Table: PeopleB id name I'd like for PeopleA.id and PeopleB.id to always have unique values between themselves. I.e. I want them to share the same Identity seed. Note: I do not want to hear about table partitioning please, only about if it's possible to share a seed across tables.

    I use asp:Login control, user can login properly, but while checking user Profile information within LoggedIn event of Login control, all of the fields in the Profile objects are empty. Also, User.Identity.IsAuthenticated always returns false. But, all of these issue solved while navigating to another page. Why User.Identity.IsAuthenticated returns false, even user logged-in properly? And, is there any way to get user's profile information within LoggedIn event of Login control?

So anyways, after that, the output for the targets is as follows: Target 1: C:\RootDir\UniqueDir1\Common1;C:\RootDir\UniqueDir1\Common2 C:\RootDir\UniqueDir2\Common1;C:\RootDir\UniqueDir2\Common2 Target 2: C:\RootDir\UniqueDir1\Common1;C:\RootDir\UniqueDir1\Common2;C:\RootDir\UniqueDir2\Common1;C:\RootDir\UniqueDir2\Common2 So my question I guess is ... why does target1 only display the directories containing the directory it is batching against? I know it probably has to do with batching, but thats all I know.

  • How do you uninstall a ClickOnce application that doesn't appear in Add/Remove Programs?

    I'm getting the following error when I try to install one of my ClickOnce applications: An application for this deployment is already installed with a different application identity. I understand this is because I have used the same Application Identity but moved the deployment URL. I'd like to just uninstall the existing ClickOnce application and install from the new deployment location, however the existing application does not show in Add/Remove Programs. How can I remove the existing ClickOnce application so that it will let me install from the new location?

    I have been using WCF for a few years now and am fairly comfortable with it, however there is one simple WCF concept that I have yet to employ and am having difficulties with it. Following this article about WCF addressing as it specifically relates to multiple endpoints in IIS I see these two excerpts: "Suppose you have a file named calc.svc and you place it in a virtual directory that corresponds to (http://localhost:8080/calcservice). The base address for this service will be (http://localhost:8080/calcservice/calc.svc)." and "Now, consider the endpoint configuration found in the virtual directory’s web.config file (in Figure 3). In this case, the address of the first endpoint becomes the same as the base address (http://localhost:8080/calcservice/calc.svc) since I left the endpoint address empty. The address of the second endpoint becomes the combination of the base address appended with "secure", like this: (http://localhost:8080/calcservice/calc.svc/secure)." Now in my application I'm trying to create two endpoints for the same service (shown below). The service name is MainService.svc. For endpoint one I have address="" and endpoint two has address="Soap11". Bringing the site up in IIS I can successfully hit this URL: (https://localhost:444/MainService.svc). This is the base address for the service according to all the documentation I can find. According to this article and others I have seen that confirm its information I should have the second endpoint at (https://localhost:444/MainService.svc/Soap11) but if I navigate to that URL I get a .Net exception indicating the resource is not found. Is there a tool I can use to see where my different endpoints will be available? Maybe some IIS or aspnet_isapi.dll logging I can turn on? My web.config section defining my endpoints follows.     Are there any repercussions using Negative Primary Keys for tables (Identity Increment -1, Identity Seed -1 in SQL Server 2005)? The reason for this is we're creating a new database to replace an existing one. There are similar tables between the two databases and we'd like the "source" of the information to be transparent to our applications. The approach is to create views that unions tables from both databases. Negative PKs ensures the identities don't overlap.

    I need to create a Set of objects. The concern is I do not want to base the hashing or the equality on the objects' hashCode and equals implementation. Instead, I want the hash code and equality to be based only on each object's reference identity (i.e.: the value of the reference pointer). I'm not sure how to do this in Java. The reasoning behind this is my objects do not reliably implement equals or hashCode, and in this case reference identity is good enough.

    Im writing a java code to make a min-ordered Binomial Heap and I have to Insert and Remove-min. I'm having a very big problem inserting into the Heap. I have been stuck on this for a couple of days now and it is due tomorrow. Whenever I go to insert, It only prints out the item I insert instead of the whole tree (which is in preorder). Such as if I insert 1 it prints (1) and then I go to insert 2 it prints out (2) instead of (1(2)) It keeps printing out only the number I insert last instead of the whole preordered tree.   • Windows does not recognize DVDs inserted into Blu-ray drive

    I am having a problem with a Blu-ray drive I have in my PC. Its a Blu-ray reader drive and it reads and writes CDs and DVDs. My drive has been working great for about a year now, but for some reason now, when I insert a DVD, Windows 7 doesn't recognize that there is a disc in the drive. I have to eject the disc and insert it again. I sometimes have to do this like 30 times before it "catches" and Windows 7 recognizes the disc. My discs are not scratched up. It does it even with brand new discs. I've tried about 10 different DVDs and the same problem happens. One thing that is weird though is that the problem does not seem to happen when I insert Blu-ray discs. The problem only happens with DVD discs. I tried running a drive lens cleaner. Same issue. Any suggestions?

  • Apple keyboard key remapping under Ubuntu

    I have an Apple keyboard that I simply love. I now hate my regular keyboard at work. I just have a small problem with the Apple keyboard. There is no "insert" key. The one that is usually Insert on regualr keyboard is replaced by the "fn" key. I would like to keep the fn functionality, as it is useful with the Fx keys on the top of my keyboard. If I have another key that I want to remap, whoe can I get the code, and then assign the code to the "Insert" function ? I mainly use this key for clipboard stuff (Ctrl-Ins, Shift-Ins), and sometime I have no other option than use the mouse, which is something I want to avoid. For example, the "Eject" button could be re-assigned, or use the F13..F19 keys, which are not on regular keyboards anyway. Thanks :-)

I have 17 apps in production (project based company, only 2 online apps), and some 30 users with 7 groups. prodsel - group that has select privilege on all tables produpdt - update group on selective tables (as required by the apps) proddel - delete prodins - insert permissions for the group Now what my company does is when an app uses certain user (called app1user), and needs select and insert privilege on a table, they 1. grant select and insert for prodsel, prodins respectively 2. add the user under those two groups... now this creates one to many relationship between user and privileges, and this app1user also gets select on other tables granted for the prodsel group. I know this is wrong. Before I explain, I need to know how this is done elsewhere. Please share your experiences, even if you use other Databases that uses OS level authentication.

    I just updated from PHP 5.1 to 5.2 and both drupal and phpMyAdmin stopped being able to save information. I've checked the mysql user permissions - they look ok. I wrote some simple php to insert a row into a table, and it works, but if I try to do the same thing in phpMyAdmin, it just says "no change". phpMyAdmin will delete rows, select rows, but not insert or update them. Drupal does the same thing - it will select info from the tables ok, but not insert or update (or delete). Any ideas? I'm really starting to get desperate! Cheers, Marek

  • Slight delay when switching modes in vim using tmux or screen

    Switching to and from insert mode in Vim is no longer instantaneous since I use tmux. After pressing Esc in insert mode, it takes a noticeable amount of time to actually get out of insert mode. After pressing Esc and any other key afterwards the switch is immediate, and the command for the key pressed after Esc is executed. Any idea what might cause this? The Vim configuration is not the problem as the delay does not occur when I run Vim outside tmux, so this is probably related to tmux somehow. I use gnome-terminal btw. Also worth noting, it seems I can not define key bindings in tmux for Esc, my plan was to bind Esc to: bind Escape send-keys ^[ Alas, it seems binding anything to Esc for tmux does not work. The same problem occurs in screen as well.

  • '0' inserted when cross-referencing numbered equations in MSWord 2007

    I am inserting numbered equations using tables and multi-level lists as described in http://blogs.msdn.com/b/microsoft_office_word/archive/2006/10/20/equation-numbering.aspx I want to cross-reference the equations in my text. To do so I go to Insert-Cross reference and among the "Numbered Items" I pick the equation I wish to refer to. The problem is that if I pick the "Insert reference to" as "Paragraph number" a zero is always inserted into my text. The surprising thing is that the hyperlink in the cross-reference points to the correct equation. Also if I choose "Insert reference to" as "Page number" then the correct page numbers are inserted and they are correctly updated too.
