  • Why won't apache load a symlinked file from conf.d?

    I have an apache configuration file which works fine when it's placed directly in /etc/httpd/conf.d/foo.conf. However, when I move the same file somewhere else (for example, move it to /tmp/foo.conf) and then create a symlink with ln -s /tmp/foo.conf /etc/httpd/conf.d then apache fails on startup with: httpd: could not open document config file /etc/httpd/conf.d/foo.conf I've tried making the file and the symlink mode 777, and tried changing them to be owned by the apache user. It seems like apache is failing to load the file purely on the basis of it being a symlink, but I'm sure I've used symlinks successfully on other machines. Is there something I'm missing? Does apache have an option for refusing to load config files if they're symlinks? The operating system is CentOS 4.4, apache version 2.0.52.

  • Win-XP Browsers Hang on page load - (waiting for...)

    Hello, I’m having problems with my browsers hanging on loading pages on my desktop machine. I’m using Windows XP Pro with SP3 and fully updated except for IE 8. All three of my browsers, IE 7, Chrome and Firefox are having the same problems. Pages are not being loaded and are hanging on “waiting for …”. The browsers are waiting for the page being loaded or ad servers. Sometimes a page will load but the loading graphic continues to be displayed as if the page were still loading when the page appears to be fully loaded. The problem is bad enough that I can’t really use any of my browsers. I can eventually get most pages to load by stopping and restarting the page load. I have DSL modem with a wireless router and I have been able to eliminate the modem and router from being the source of my problem. My laptop doesn’t have any problems even when hardwired to the router and with the wireless connection disabled. I deleted the NIC and let XP re-install. Also tried a different network cable. Tried the same router port used in the laptop test. One clue that may be important is that I can’t connect to my router using the desktop machine…the page hangs while trying to connect. I can ping the router and I can quickly connect to the router using the laptop. I also can’t use the Windows update process – the page never fully loads. The problem affects other user accounts and even happens in safe mode. I am convinced the problem is with part of the O/S…some layer able to affect all of the browsers. The purpose of this post is to see if anyone has some ideas before I do a XP repair. I have done quite a bit of trouble-shooting: Ran a full anti-virus scan with AVG – no problems. Ran full scans with Spybot, MalwareBytes and Sophos anti-rootkit – no problems. Ran Chkdsk with both options checked. Ran Disk Clean up Defragged RE-installed IE7 Cleared all the browser caches Ran Ccleaner (registry tool) Ran HijackThis – nothing unusual (problem happens in safe mode too) Ran Process Explorer – no unusual processes Used System Restore and fell back several days – no change in the problem Booted to last known good configuration – no change in the problem Ran MicrosoftFixit50199.msi – no change in the problem Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated…I’m not looking forward to doing a repair on XP.     I have an odd problem where one of my users' UsrClass.dat hive does not load, which causes .NET ClickOnce applications to fail to start. They are one of several users on a Windows 2000 terminal server, all the others have no problem. Nothing is mentioned in any logs. I can manually load the hive to the correct HKEY_USERS\..._Classes location using REGEDT32, which works around the problem, but I've no idea what could be causing this in the first place. Any ideas what to check here, or any diagnostic tools or procedures that would help?

    Hey there, I was wondering if this is possible to do I am able to load the image in and have it displayed easily enough by using addChild(myLoader); where myLoader is in the classWide private scope. The problem is, whenever I call my function inside that class which adds the loader to the stage, it clears the old one and puts this new one in even if I add a bit where I change myLoader.name to something related to how many images it has completed. This is a serious hinderance as I can't do anything besides KNOW how many images I will need to load and write the code X times. The problem being is that the urls are read from an XML file. My main desire was to have a classWide private Array which contained my loaders and I would assign them using myArray.push(myLoader) each time the load had completed.   • When adding second processor to SQL Server, will it automatically balance the load?

    We have a SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.5) on a dedicated box with a single 2.4Ghz processor, which regularly runs at 70-80% CPU. We are going to be adding a significant number of users to the application and therefore want to add a second processor to the box (scale up). Will SQL Server automatically use the second processor to balance threads, or is there additional configuration that will need to be done? In other words, will adding the second processor drop my CPU usage to 35-40% per CPU, automatically balancing the load? Based on what I read here, it seems that it will: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms181007.aspx However, I've read elsewhere that CPU performance gains can be made by assigning database tables to different filegroups, but I'm not sure we want to get that complicated at this point.

    Hi all, I'm trying to achieve two things, both of which I fail to get at. On a server are a series of notes; all contain a div (id=ajxContent). Some notes also contain an additiona div (id=ajxHead). The ajxContent itself contains links (class=clicking) to call the next installment, hence the link destination in a variable. This is my code: $(document).ready(function(){ $( 'a.clicking' ).live('click', function(e){ e.preventDefault(); var theLink = $(this).attr('href'); $('#loadText').load(theLink + '#ajxContent'); $('h1').load(theLink + '#ajxHead'); }); }) Where it fails: 1) the ajxContent gets loaded into the h1 tag as well as in its intended target. 2) when I had set up the code differently, if there was no div id=ajxHead present in a note, the load would nevertheless erase the existing value in the h1 tag. Am I on a totally wrong track here, with two load statements? Input is very welcome, thanks.

    So we have a number of vm's running on an ESX 4.1 server for product testing. The ESX Server is at times under heavy load. We've been experiencing high CPU levels during some use cases, but we can't always duplicate this. If the ESX server as a whole is under heavy load could this cause guest machines to show high CPU usage? To ask it a different way, if the guest machines require more cpu resources than the server has, how does this affect CPU usage as indicated by the OS and process?

    I have a Glassfish (3.1.2) cluster over 2 computers as nodes, with a mod_jk load balancer. Are servlet instance variables replicated perfectly? If not, how do I make sure it is? Are all actions, including method calls and disk writes, replicated perfectly? If not, how do I make sure they are? These may seem like stupid questions, but I'm not seeking "load balancing" as much as I am seeking exact replication to enable future upgrading without any service interruption. How do I achieve this if it is not already the case?

They are both loaded with a filestream, and thus do not require Content.Load SoundEffect soundEffect = SoundEffect.FromStream( fs ); Since this ResourceManager does not inherit from Game or is like Game.cs, I cannot use the usual method: SpriteFont spriteFont = Content.Load<SpriteFont>(resource.Key.Item2); Anyone have any idea how I can either: -Load the SpriteFont a different way -Create my own Contentmanager

    I have an XML file named PageData.xml in my App_Data folder. I want to populate an XDocument with this file using XDocument.Load. If I supply the full physical path it works, i.e.: XDocument vXDoc = XDocument.Load("/Work/Project/Web/100413 Dev/App_Data/PageData.xml"); ...where "Work" is a folder on my C: drive. If I try a relative path like this, though, I get a DirectoryNotFoundException: XDocument vXDoc = XDocument.Load("AppData/PageData.xml"); "Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DevServer\10.0\AppData\PageData.xml'." This is obviously wrong, but there must be an easy way to set the correct relative path? What am I overlooking? Your help is appreciated.

ChildViewController.xib contains a UIButton I want ChildViewController.xib to load in the ParentViewController.xib's UIView I have done the following: Created @property for UIView in ParentViewController Connected File's Owner to UIView in ParentViewController Set UIViewController in ParentViewController's NIB Name property to ChildViewController in Interface Builder Set ChildViewController view property to UIView in ParentViewController I was hoping this would load ChildViewController into my UIView in ParentViewController but no luck. I did get the following warning, which could be the culprit: 'View Controller (Child View)' has both its 'NIB Name' property set and its 'view' outlet connected. This configuration is not supported. I also have added additional code in ParentViewController's viewDidLoad(): - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; ChildViewController *childViewController = [[ChildViewController alloc]initWithNibName:@"ChildViewController" bundle:nil]; childViewController.view = self.myView; } Any thoughts on why ChildViewController does not load in the UIView of ParentViewController?

  • How can I detect client-side when a page load is the result of an AJAX history point?

    I'm trying to prevent a "flicker" effect that is occurring on my ASP.NET page which occurs when a user navigates to the page via the browser back button after having navigated away from it. The reason for the flicker is that I'm using an Update Panel which has some content in there on the initial page-load. As a result, when the page is loaded via a back button that initial content is shown very briefly before it is updated with the correct History-aware data. In order to overcome this I am intending on having the updatepanel hidden (display: none) on inital page load and then show it as long as we don't have any history to deal with. The problem is that I can't find out what to check to determine if there's any history. I can see that the Sys.Application has a _history member but when I'm checking it on page init it is null each time. Does anyone know what I should be checking to determine if there's history to deal with for a page load client-side? And at what point to do it?

  • When debugging on WinCE, how can I set Visual Studio to always load symbol files it knows about?

    I'm debugging a WinCE, C++ program in Visual Studio across an ActiveSync connection. Every time I start the process it fails to load symbol information. However, if I right click on the module and hit 'Load Symbols' it correctly locates the symbol information without any further prompting from me. Is there a way that I can set Visual Studio to either: (a) automatically load this symbol information, or (b) automatically break the process into the debugger once it's loaded (similar to what windbg does)? I'm guessing there's a setting somewhere, but I've yet to find it. Update: I forgot to mention in the original question that I'm not debugging with the instance of Visual Studio that created the exe.

    Hello, I am currently working on some jQuery - it works perfectly when I uses .html but when I changed the method to .load and attempt to load a page in breaks the jquery on the rest of the page.   • Load balancer - how to write one for a custom application?

    Hi! I've written a simple server application which will run distributed on several machines. My question is how does a network load balancer works, in general? I've heard of round-robin and other algorithms, but what I haven't got answer to is how does the process really goes? In socket terms. The client connects to one of the load balancer machines, asks for a "free-to-connect-to" server and simply connects to it? That's the simpliest way I can think of. .. or, does it use the load balancer as a proxy (that implies that all the NBs must be always connected to the application servers, and data is transferred through them)? It's more of a general question. How would you do this? Thank you all!
