WCF JSON Service returns XML on Fault

How do I sanitize a string in PHP that contains "; Echo"? (I have a solid reason)

I turned this case into a simple PHP page that submits to itself. My issue is that I am submitting track meet results and one of the girl's names is Echo...a lovely name. The problem text I'm submitting is: Pole vault - Rachel Simons, Tow, 8-6; Echo Wilson, Cit, 8-0; Molly Randall, Tow, 7-0; So you see a semicolon followed by white space followed by Echo... After submitting, it says: POST to /results/test.php not supported The end goal is to save it to a database along with some other info and have a search page to find it and simply print out the full result on the screen. I stripped out all my database stuff to get it down to this one error. I mean, I can intentionally mis-spell her name, but there's gotta be a way around this, right??? What happens when we combine RAII and GOTO ?

I'm wondering, for no other purpose than pure curiosity (because no one SHOULD EVER write code like this!) about how the behavior of RAII meshes with the use of Goto (lovely idea isn't it). class Two { public: ~Two() { printf("2,"); } }; class Ghost { public: ~Ghost() { printf(" BOO! How to get more detail from an exception?

I have a .NET 4.0 web application which implements an error handler within the Application_Error event of Global.asax. When an exception occurs this intercepts it and sends me an email including a variety of information like the logged in user, the page the error occurred on, the contents of the session etc. This is all great but there is some fundamental detail missing which I seem unable to locate. I have a bunch of tables whose primary key is made up of the foreign keys of other tables (Composite key). Therefore for example the attributes (as a very cut down version) might look like this: A[aPK, SomeFields] 1:M B[bPK, aFK, SomeFields] 1:M C[cPK, bFK, aFK, SomeFields] as data this could look like: A[aPK, SomeFields]: 1, Foo 2, Bar B[bPK, aFK, SomeFields]: 1, 1, FooData1 2, 1, FooData2 1, 2, BarData1 2, 2, BarData2 C[cPK, bFK, aFK, SomeFields]: 1, 1, 1, FooData1More 2, 1, 1, FooData1More 1, 2, 1, FooData2More 2, 2, 1, FooData2More 1, 1, 2, BarData1More 2, 1, 2, BarData1More 1, 2, 2, BarData2More 2, 2, 2, BarData2More I've got this running in a MSSQL DBMS and I'm looking for the best way to increment the left most column, in each table when a new tuple is added to it. I can't use the Auto Increment Identity Specification option as that has no idea that it is part of a composite key. I also don't want to use any aggregate function such as: MAX(field)+1 as this will have adverse affects with multiple users inputting data, rolling back etc. There might however be a nice trigger based option here, but I'm not sure. This must be a common issue so I'm hoping that someone has a lovely solution. As a side which may or may not affect the answer, I'm using Entity Framework 1.0 as my ORM, within a c# MVC application.

Is sending a hashed password over the wire a security hole?

I've come across a system that is in use by a company that we are considering partnering with on a medium-sized (for us, not them) project. They have a web service that we will need to integrate with. My current understanding of proper username/password management is that the username may be stored as plaintext in the database. Every user should have a unique pseudo-random salt, which may also be stored in plaintext. The text of their password must be concatenated with the salt and then this combined string may be hashed and stored in the database in an nvarchar field. So long as passwords are submitted to the website (or web service) over plaintext, everything should be just lovely. Feel free to rip into my understanding as summarized above if I'm wrong. Anyway, back to the subject at hand. The WebService run by this potential partner doesn't accept username and password, which I had anticipated. Instead, it accepts two string fields named 'Username' and 'PasswordHash'. The 'PasswordHash' value that I have been given does indeed look like a hash, and not just a value for a mis-named password field. This is raising a red flag for me. I'm not sure why, but I feel uncomfortable sending a hashed password over the wire for some reason. Off the top of my head I can't think of a reason why this would be a bad thing... Technically, the hash is available on the database anyway. But it's making me nervous, and I'm not sure if there's a reason for this or if I'm just being paranoid.

Trying to match variables in a PHP array

I'm stuck with a php array problem. I've to a webpage that takes values from a URL, and I need to cross reference those values against some values on the page and if they match output a 'yes'. It's an expression engine bodge job. The URL is something like domain.com/page/C12&C14 The C12 and C14 represent different categories. I've taken the last bit of the url, removed the 'C' from the values and then exploded the 12&14 into an array. I print_r the array on the page and it shows: Array ( [0] = 12 [1] = 14 ) So, the values are in the array. Lovely. Now on the page I have an html list which looks like 10 12 14 15 I want to output a YES next to the variables that are current in the array so the ideal output would be: 10 12 - YES 14 - YES 15 I was trying this but it keeps just saying No next to all of them. $currentnumber = 12; foreach ($tharray as $element) { if ($element == $currentnumber) { echo "Yes"; } else { echo "No"; } } I thought that should work, but it's not. I checked and the array and the variable are both stings. I did a strlen() on both to see if they are the same, but $currentnumber outputs '13' and the array variable outputs '2'. Any ideas as to why it's saying 13? Is the variable the wrong type of string - and if so how would I convert it?

Python Interactive Interpreter always returns "Invalid syntax" on Windows

I've encountered an extremely confusing problem. Whatever I type into the Python interpreter returns "Invalid Syntax". See examples below. I've tried fooling around with the code page of the prompt I run the interpreter from, but it doesn't seem to help at all. Furthermore, I haven't been able to find this particular, weird bug elsewhere online. Any assistance anyone could provide would be lovely. I've already tried reinstalling Python, but I didn't have any luck - the problem is also there in both 3.13 and 2.7. Running: Python version 3.1.3, Windows XP SP3. CXF code first service, WSDL generation; soap:address changes?

I have a simple Java interface/implementation I am exposing via CXF. I have a jaxws element in my Spring configuration file like this: <jaxws:endpoint id="managementServiceJaxws" implementor="#managementService" address="/jaxws/ManagementService" > </jaxws:endpoint> It generates the WSDL from my annotated interface and exposes the service. Then when I hit http://myhostname/cxf/jaxws/ManagementService?wsdl I get a lovely WSDL. At the bottom in the wsdl:service element, I'll see <soap:address location="http://myhostname/cxf/jaxws/ManagementService"/> However, some time a day or so later, with no application restart, hitting that same url produces: This causes a number of problems, but what I really want is to fix it. Right now, there's a particular client to the webservice that sets the endpoint to localhost; because it runs on the same machine. Is it possible the wsdl is getting regenerated and cached and then exposing the 'localhost' version? In part I don't know the exact mechanism by which one goes from a ?wsdl request in CXF to the response. It seems almost certain that it's retrieving some cached version, given that it's supposed to be determining the address by asking the servletcontainer (Jetty). For reference I know a stopgap solution is using the hostname on the client and making sure an alias in place so that it goes over the loopback. EDIT: For reference, I confirmed that if I bring my application up and first hit it over localhost, then querying for the wsdl via the hostname shows the address as localhost. Conversely, first hitting it over the hostname causes localhost requests to show the hostname. So obviously something is getting cached here.

Pure CSS3 show/hide full height div with transition

Dear Stackoverflow readers, I've been breaking my head over something I've seen at Tympanus, and I can't figure out how to properly do such a thing. In this link: http://tympanus.net/Tutorials/FullscreenBookBlock/ you can see that the menu is completely hidden, and only visible when you click on an icon. It has a lovely transition, and it basically roughly sums up what I'm trying to accomplish. The only difference with the above example is that I don't want to completely hide this full-height element, and I'd like to accomplish the above effect with a hover instead of having to click a button. So in an ideal world you'd see a vertical bar, and when you hover over that bar (or click on it with your finger if you're on a tablet), it "opens up" and shows you the full content inside the opened div. Now, I can make a decent bit in html5 and css3, but the above explained effect that I'm trying to accomplish has given me serious headaches, hehe. Does anyone happen to know a tutorial I might have missed that does this exact thing? p.s.: I have tried to take apart Tympanus' html/css, but with the page-fold effect that's also implemented in it I can't seem to figure it out, hence my hope for someone here to help me on my way :)

Image sprite not lining up in firefox

I am working with an image sprite to create my buttons. They work right in every browser except firefox. Lets say i have 2 spans next to eachother: <span class="spanleft"></span><span class="spanright"></span> and give them some styling(this is the actual code i use for the sprite) .spanleft{ background:url('/templates/default/img/auction/btn-toolbar.png') no-repeat 0 0; display:block; float:left; height:100px; width:13px; } .spanright{ background:url('/templates/default/img/auction/btn-toolbar.png') no-repeat 0 -104px; display:block; float:left; height:100px; width:30px; margin-left:0px; } Now this works in every browser i tested, the images line up great. But in firefox I get a small offset. Now i fiddled with the pixels a lot. Its not an offset of 1px, the offset is about 0.5 of a px. yeah. Ive made a screenshot of what i mean, and i'm going to put in the sprite for the buttons, they make lovely buttons, upstate,downstate,hover,disabled. You can use them in your projects. Upgraded Eclipse. Every app force closes

I would be really grateful for some urgent advice:- I was merrily building my apps (using eclipse) for Android platform 2.2. Everything all working lovely and ready to upload to the marketplace. I thought I would try to install Google Play Licensing and in the process, I was told to download the LVL but that was not available in my SDK download list - and I read I had to updrage my SDK and ADT to the latest. So I did, I now have: ADT 17.0.0 along with ANDROID DDMS, hierarchy viewer and Traceview at 17.0.0 with Eclipse IDE 1.4.2 And I also upgraded my SDK Android 2.2 stuff to the latest. Now:- I have no errors in my app workplaces on Eclipse. But now when I run the apps, they build but force close straight away upon loading. This includes the app I was working on (and working perfectly before) and all the other apps I have ever made. Every app now force closes and I dont know what to do. Been up all night and was ready to upload them to the market place... :( Any help!? Thanks! Please!

I need to check on disabling JavaScript if the user disabled JavaScript from browser or firewall or any other place he will never show the form. I have lots of search and solutions, but unfortunately didn't got the right one. - Using style with no-script tag: This one could be broke with removing style... <noscript> <style type="text/css"> .HideClass { display:none; } </style> </noscript> The past code will work just fine but there is lots of problems in no-script tag as here Beside that i don't want to redirect user with no-script tag too...Beside that i can quickly stop loading the page to broke this meta or disable Meta tag from IE: <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; URL=Frm_JavaScriptDisable.aspx" /> Another way to redirect user with JavaScript but this will work let's say for 99% of users and this one isn't lovely way and will slow down the website... window.location="http://www.location.com/page.aspx"; Is there is any other ideas or suggestions to secure working with JavaScript...and prevent user from entering the website or see my form except when JavaScript enabled...

I have a client that is divesting a business unit into a new AD forest, Exchange org, etc. We're using Quest tools to migrate users and mailboxes. However, I have to build the new infrastructure to match the old one. In the old one, we're using Managed Folder Mailbox Policies to limit (or allow) retention. They started with Exchange 2007 and never upgraded to Retention Policies; oh well. So, in the old environment, when you use a 2007 server to define a new Managed Content Setting, you can pick "Email" from the dropdown for MessageClass. I am doing it like this. I tried and fought with code but could get any results. Please help me out. I am really having no idea how this code will run.

Writing an Iron Python debugger

As a learning exercise I'm writing myself a simple extension / plugin / macro framework using IronPython - I've gotten the basics working but I'd like to add some basic debugging support to make my script editor easier to work with. I've been hunting around on the internet a bit and I've found a couple of good resources on writing managed debuggers (including Mike Stall's excellent .Net Debugging blog and the MSDN documentaiton on the CLR Debugging API) - I understand that IronPython is essentially IL however apart from that I'm a tad lost on how to get started, in particular: Are there any significant differences between debugging a dynamic language (such as IronPython) to a static one (such as C#)? Do I need to execute my script in a special way to get IronPython to output suitable debugging information? Is debugging a script running inside the current process going to cause deadlocks, or does IronPython execute my script in a child process? Am I better off looking into how to produce a simple C# debugger first to get the general idea? (I'm not interested in the GUI aspect of making a debugger for now - I've already got a pretty good idea of how this might work)

doctrine findby relation

I'm having trouble selecting a subset of data with doctrine. I have 3 tables Location Contact Contact_location The contact and location tables hold a name and an id the other table holds only ID's. For instance: Location loc_id: 1 name: detroit Contact contact_id: 1 name: Mike Contact_location loc_id: 1 contact_id: 1 In doctrine there is a many to many relation between the location and contact tables with contact_location as the ref_class. What i want to do is on my location page i want to find all contacts where for instance the loc_id = 1. I tried: $this->installedbases = Doctrine::getTable('contact')->findByloc_id(1); hoping doctrine would see the relation and get it, but it does not. How can i make doctrine search in relevant related tables? I read it can be done using Findby but i find the documentation unclear.

As you can see top level node element1 has same node name "node" as element2. I want to parse this XML based on attribute alias. What should be the Linq-To-Xml code (using C#)to acheive this?

Grafting Scala 2.8 into a Netbeans NBAndroid Project...What steps am I missing?

Hi All; Due to Apple's recent T+C hijinks, I've become interested in developing for Android. Anyways, I'm trying to get a mixed-language Android 2.1 project going in Netbeans 6.8 (with the NBAndroid 0.10 plugin). The two languages being Java and Scala(2.8 head build). To give you a basic idea of what the app does right now, it's just a simple "Hello World" app. To get this to build, I've modified the projects's build.xml file: -- -injars ${scala-library}(!META-INF/MANIFEST.MF,!library.properties) -outjars "${build.classes.dir}/classes.min.jar" -libraryjars "${file.reference.android.jar}" -dontwarn -dontoptimize -dontobfuscate -keep public class * extends android.app.Activity -keep public class scala.xml.include.sax.Main** I've gotten the project so that it'll build, but it errors on startup in my Android Emulator(inside the emulator Android tells me my application has stopped unexpectedly). So my questions are: Does anyone see what I may be doing wrong? And is there any way to get access to the logs that the emulator must create? thanks Mike Kohout

Thanks, Mike Background information: I'm doing this because the original source code came with a VS project designed to compile as a static (.lib) library. In order to use ctypes/Python, I'm converting the project to a DLL. I started a VS project as a DLL and imported the original source code. The project builds into a DLL, but none of the functions (including functions such as the one listed above) are exported (as confirmed by both the absence of dllexport in the source code and tools such as DLL Export Viewer). I tried to follow the general advice here (create an exportable wrapper function within the header) to no avail...functions still don't appear to be exported.

Continuing education with Visual Basic 9

I am completely new to programming and starting my education with visual basic 9 and SQL. I have read Visual Basic, in easy steps, 2nd edition by Mike Mcgrath. Although it was very easy to understand, it only gave me an introduction to learning VB. I'm looking for something more in depth, albeit for a beginner. I've read through the questions with a VB and book tag. Unfortunately, most of what I've found here references VB 6 and VB 8. Any recommendations? I cannot afford to create a library or college at the moment. So, I need to make sure that what I do buy counts. Thanks for any suggestions!

NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate in a second view controller (not firing?)

I am running into an issue similar to the one described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1319940/nsfetchedresultscontrollerdelegate-not-firing (the delegate for my NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate are not being called on my second view controller) I can't seem to get the proposed solutions to work. I have a main view that loads information from Core Data just fine, but when it pushes a separate controller (and passes the managed object to it), the delegate methods won't fire. I've read about 'mergeChangesFromContextDidSaveNotification' but I don't understand how to synchronize the two manage objects and/or get the delegate methods to be called. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mike
