  • Simple javascript to mimic jQuery behaviour of using this in events handlers

    - by Marco Demaio
    This is not a question about jQuery, but about how jQuery implements such a behaviour. In jQuery you can do this: $('#some_link_id').click(function() { alert(this.tagName); //displays 'A' }) could someone explain in general terms (no need you to write code) how do they obtain to pass the event's caller html elments (a link in this specific example) into the this keyword? I obviously tried to look 1st in jQuery code, but I could not understand one line. Thanks!

  • Filter items from a feed using words in a text file, with Yahoo Pipes

    - by pufferfish
    I have a pipe that filters an RSS feed and removes any item that contains "stopwords" that I've chosen. Currently I've manually created a filter for each stopword in the pipe editor, but the more logical way is to read these from a file. I've figured out how to read the stopwords out of the text file, but how do I apply the filter operator to the feed, once for every stopword? The documentation states explicitly that operators can't be applied within the loop construct, but hopefully I'm missing something here.

  • prepend to a file one liner shell?

    - by elmarco
    This is probably a complex solution. I am looking for a simple operator like "", but for prepending. I am afraid it does not exist. I'll have to do something like mv $F tmp cat header tmp $F Anything smarter? (I am not fond of tmp files)

  • Matching math expression with regular expression?

    - by Ethan
    For example, these are valid math expressions: a * b + c -a * (b / 1.50) (apple + (-0.5)) * (boy - 1) And these are invalid math expressions: --a *+ b @ 1.5.0 // two consecutive signs, two consecutive operators, invalid operator, invalid number -a * b + 1) // unmatched parentheses a) * (b + c) / (d // unmatched parentheses I have no problem with matching float numbers, but have difficulty with parentheses matching. Any idea? If there is better solution than regular expression, I'll accept as well. But regex is preferred.

  • Undefined symbols for C++0x lambdas?

    - by Austin Hyde
    I was just poking around into some new stuff in C++0x, when I hit a stumbling block: #include <list> #include <cstdio> using namespace std; template <typename T,typename F> void ForEach (list<T> l, F f) { for (typename list<T>::iterator it=l.begin();it!=l.end();++it) f(*it); } int main() { int arr[] = {1,2,3,4,5,6}; list<int> l (arr,arr+6); ForEach(l,[](int x){printf("%d\n",x);}); } does not compile. I get a load of undefined symbol errors.   • How to search and locate (annotate) in MKMapView?

    - by chaitanya
    Hi, In my application I have to search five nearest locations of "medical services" using the user current location and annotate those locations on my MKMapView. Can any one tell me how to search with a particular keyword (eg. medical services, garages) by using user current locations and annotate onto the map and when the user taps on the annotations it should show the complete address of the locations which is annotated. Can anyone help me in this?

  • How do you pronounce "->"

    - by tster
    I'm referring to the C operator which is used on pointers to mean the same think as the dot (".") would mean on the value. Incidentally, I'm most interested in how to pronounce it in perl as in $hello->world().

  • Is there any syntax checker for knockout.js?

    - by YMC
    I like knockout.js, the only problem is Visual Studio knows nothing about this framework, so it does not prevent me from silly things like assigning some value to observable property with '=' operator which makes it regular property, and it's not easy to reveal at compile time and often at runtime even. I wonder is there any syntax checker/highlighter for Visual Studio 2010 that helps me prevent faults like this? What about VS 2011? It might be a great help for developers who are new to knockout. Thanks

  • Creating C++ objects

    - by Phenom
    I noticed that there are two ways to create C++ objects: BTree *btree = new BTree; and BTree btree; From what I can tell, the only difference is in how class objects are accessed (. vs. - operator), and when the first way is used, private integers get initialized to 0. Which way is better, and what's the difference? How do you know when to use one or the other?

  • RowFilter including [ character in search string

    - by JeffC
    I fill a DataSet and allow the user to enter a search string. Instead of hitting the database again, I set the RowFilter to display the selected data. When the user enters a square bracket ( "[" ) I get an error "Error in Like Operator". I know there is a list of characters that need prefixed with "\" when they are used in a field name, but how do I prevent RowFilter from interpreting "[" as the beginning of a column name?

  • Getting geospatial indexes to work in MongoDB 1.4.3

    - by Marcel J.
    I wanted to try geospatial indexes with MongoDB, but all I get is > db.map_nodes.find( { coodinate: { $near: [54, 10] } } ) error: { "$err" : "invalid operator: $near" } and > db.map_nodes.runCommand({geoNear:"coordinates", near:[50,50]}) { "errmsg" : "no such cmd", "bad cmd" : { "geoNear" : "coordinates", "near" : [ 50, 50 ] }, "ok" : 0 } I am using MongoDB 1.4.3. What am I doing wrong?

  • similarity match

    Many search engine have the 'did you mean' functionality. Is there a simple way to use (N)Hibernate (e.g. ICriteria) to find an entity (e.g. keyword) based on similarity. Please note that I do not mean Expression.Like or something like this. I hope this question makes sense. Thanks. Christian

  • How do I construct a Django reverse/url using query args?

    - by Andrew Dalke
    I have URLs like http://example.com/depict?smiles=CO&width=200&height=200 (and with several other optional arguments) My urls.py contains: urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^$', 'cansmi.index'), (r'^cansmi$', 'cansmi.cansmi'), url(r'^depict$', cyclops.django.depict, name="cyclops-depict"), I can go to that URL and get the 200x200 PNG that was constructed, so I know that part works. In my template from the "cansmi.cansmi" response I want to construct a URL for the named template "cyclops-depict" given some query parameters. I thought I could do {% url cyclops-depict smiles=input_smiles width=200 height=200 %} where "input_smiles" is an input to the template via a form submission. In this case it's the string "CO" and I thought it would create a URL like the one at top. This template fails with a TemplateSyntaxError: Caught an exception while rendering: Reverse for 'cyclops-depict' with arguments '()' and keyword arguments '{'smiles': u'CO', 'height': 200, 'width': 200}' not found. This is a rather common error message both here on StackOverflow and elsewhere. In every case I found, people were using them with parameters in the URL path regexp, which is not the case I have where the parameters go into the query. That means I'm doing it wrong. How do I do it right? That is, I want to construct the full URL, including path and query parameters, using something in the template. For reference, % python manage.py shell Python 2.6.1 (r261:67515, Feb 11 2010, 00:51:29) [GCC 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5646)] on darwin Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. • FSM spellchecker

    - by Durell
    I would love to have a debugged copy of the finite state machine code below. I tried debugging but could not, all the machine has to do is to spell check the word "and",an equivalent program using case is welcomed. #include<cstdlib> #include<stdio.h> #include<string.h> #include<iostream> #include<string> using namespace std; char in_str; int n; void spell_check() { char data[256]; int i; FILE *in_file; in_file=fopen("C:\\Users\\mytorinna\\Desktop\\a.txt","r+"); while (!feof(in_file)) { for(i=0;i<256;i++) { fscanf(in_file,"%c",in_str); data[i]=in_str; } //n = strlen(in_str); //start(data); cout<<data; } } void start(char data) { // char next_char; //int i = 0; // for(i=0;i<256;i++) // if (n == 0) { if(data[i]="a") { state_A(); exit; } else { cout<<"I am comming"; } // cout<<"This is an empty string"; // exit();//do something here to terminate the program } } void state_A(int i) { if(in_str[i] == 'n') { i++; if(i<n) state_AN(i); else error(); } else error(); } void state_AN(int i) { if(in_str[i] == 'd') { if(i == n-1) cout<<" Your keyword spelling is correct"; else cout<<"Wrong keyword spelling"; } } int main() { spell_check(); system("pause"); return 0; }

  • How could a quine in my programming language look?

    - by ads
    I have created a turing-complete programming language (already proven) so it must be possible to write a quine for it, right? But all quines I know store their source code in a string and then replace a special character in it using something like chr and ord. My language only has the following Basic arithmetics Int and string types Variables == operator Conditional gotos I have no idea how I could write a quine as I have no real string manipulation available, I can only output constant strings. Yet, it is 100% turing-complete.

  • Is method hiding ever a good idea

    - by ScottS
    In C# the new keyword can be used to hide a base class method without overriding the base class method. I've never encountered a situation where hiding a method was the best choice available. Are there any situations where method hiding is the best choice?

  • How to change default conjunction with Lucene MultiFieldQueryParser

    - by Luke H
    I have some code using Lucene that leaves the default conjunction operator as OR, and I want to change it to AND. Some of the code just uses a plain QueryParser, and that's fine - I can just call setDefaultOperator on those instances. Unfortunately, in one place the code uses a MultiFieldQueryParser, and calls the static "parse" method (taking String, String[], BooleanClause.Occur[], Analyzer), so it seems that setDefaultOperator can't help, because it's an instance method. Is there a way to keep using the same parser but have the default conjunction changed?

  • How can I run .aggregate() on a field introduced using .extra(select={...}) in a Django Query?

    - by Jake
    I'm trying to get the count of the number of times a player played each week like this: player.game_objects.extra(select={'week': 'WEEK(`games_game`.`date`)'}).aggregate(count=Count('week')) But Django complains that FieldError: Cannot resolve keyword 'week' into field. Choices are: <lists model fields> I can do it in raw SQL like this SELECT WEEK(date) as week, COUNT(WEEK(date)) as count FROM games_game WHERE player_id = 3 GROUP BY week Is there a good way to do this without executing raw SQL in Django?
