Override the neutral language of a specific resource file within an assembly

I have an assembly that contains several resource files. Most of them have the neutral language 'nl' (Dutch, specified on the assembly as the neutral language), so I don't specify the 'nl' in their filenames. However, I'm putting strings in the English language in some other resource files (they are internal error messages) and I will never provide Dutch translations of them. If I name those resource files something like 'Errors.en.resx', no designer class is generated (breaks the build) because there is no 'Errors.resx'. This is annoying because now I have to put 'en' strings into a 'nl'-implied resource file and I really don't want to translate those strings to 'nl' or provide empty strings just to satisfy the compiler. Is there a way to override the neutral language on a specific resource file or perhaps somehow have the 'Errors.en.resx' build a designer class?

JavaScript setTimeout setInterval within one function

I think I might be overtired but I cannot for the life of me make sense of this, and I think it's due to a lack of knowledge of javascript var itv=function(){ return setInterval(function(){ sys.puts('interval'); }, 1000); } var tout=function(itv){ return setTimeout(function(){ sys.puts('timeout'); clearInterval(itv); }, 5500); } With these two functions I can call a=tout(itv()); and get a looping timer to run for 5.5 seconds and then exit, essentially. By my logic, this should work but it simply is not var dotime=function(){ return setTimeout(function(){ clearInterval(function(){ return setInterval(function(){ sys.puts("interval"); }, 1000); }); }, 5500); } any insight in this matter would be appreciated.

Bad Practice requiring file within a model?

I have built an MVC php application and was wondering, if instead of having to write out a large amount of html and set the data, could I not just have all this html (with some php) in a separate file and just require it? For example: $test = '<div> Test content <div>More content</div> </div>'; $APP->Template->setData('test', $test, FALSE); Instead could I not just use: $test = require("includes/content.php"); $APP->Template->setData('test', $test, FALSE); Would this be considered as bad practise? It just seems that by requiring files, it can shorten the length of controllers. Would be good to get anybodies advice on this matter.

Possible to use Buddypress within an iPhone app?

Hi I want to create a community for my venture and also an iphone application for the same. I am thinking of using Buddypress for the community. But is it possible to use buddypress with an iPhone app? I'd like that when user posts a message via the iPhone app, it is also posted on buddypress? Or do I have to write custom scripts for editing the buddypress db according to user actions in the iPhone app? Thanks.

Hi in my application there is web browser control to show some static html pages. The pages are displayed properly. but images are not displayed.. I tried with changing src-path but no success. my html file is located at bin folder. And i am assigning it as. FileStream source = new FileStream(@"..\HtmlPages\supportHtml.html", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read); if i open html files in browser, the images are displayed properly.. So, What is the correct path for images..?? If i set full path to src attribute of <img> tag..it works. but i think its not a proper way. :(

Problems with Runt overlap? but *only* within Rails

Distributing points over a surface within boundries

I'm interested in a way (algorithm) of distributing a predefined number of points over a 4 sided surface like a square. The main issue is that each point has got to have a minimum and maximum proximity to each other (random between two predefined values). Basically the distance of any two points should not be closer than let's say 2, and a further than 3. My code will be implemented in ruby (the points are locations, the surface is a map), but any ideas or snippets are definitely welcomed as all my ideas include a fair amount of brute force.

Objective-C Protocols within Protocols

I recently began trying my hand at using protocols in my Objective-C development as an (obvious) means of delegating tasks more appropriately among my classes. I completely understand the basic notion of protocols and how they work. However, I came across a roadblock when trying to create a custom protocol that in turn implements another protocol. I since discovered the solution, but I am curious why the following DOES NOT work: @protocol STPickerViewDelegate < UIPickerViewDelegate > - ( void )customCallback; @end @interface STPickerView : UIPickerView { id < STPickerViewDelegate > delegate; } @property ( nonatomic, assign ) id < STPickerViewDelegate > delegate; @end Then in a view controller, which conforms to STPickerViewDelegate: STPickerView * pickerView = [ [ STPickerView alloc ] init ]; pickerView.delegate = self; - ( void )customCallback { ... } - ( NSString * )pickerView:( UIPickerView * )pickerView titleForRow:( NSInteger )row forComponent:( NSInteger )component { ... } The problem was that pickerView:titleForRow:forComponent: was never being called. On the other hand, customCallback was being called just fine, which isn't too surprising. I don't understand why STPickerViewDelegate, which itself conforms to UIPickerViewDelegate, does not notify my view controller when events from UIPickerViewDelegate are supposed to occur. Per my understanding of Apple's documentation, if a protocol (A) itself conforms to another protocol (B), then a class (C) that conforms to the first protocol (A) must also conform to the second protocol (B), which is exactly the behavior I want and expected. What I ended up doing was removing the id< STPickerViewDelegate > delegate property from STViewPicker and instead doing something like the following in my STViewPicker implementation where I want to evoke customCallback: if ( [ self.delegate respondsToSelector:@selector( customCallback ) ] ) { [ self.delegate performSelector:@selector( customCallback ) ]; } This works just fine, but I really am puzzled as to why my original approach did not work.

CSS Selector not working on elements within a div

Hi, I have the following HTML structure: <div class="formFields"> <label> Field 1: </label> <input type="text" value="" name="field1" /> </div> And my CSS selectors are as follows: #formFields {clear:both;} #formFields label {font-weight:bold;} The clear:both; is being applied to the div, but the font-weight:bold; is not being applied to the labels. How would I apply this font-weight to the labels?

Coda slider from within Tabbed Ajax?

Hi I am trying to use a simple Jquery Coda slider (that works fine alone) inside one of the tabs in the Jquery Tools Tabbed Ajax. When I click that tab, it is empty ! while it actually display the Coda slider. C Programming: malloc and free within a loop

Hi all, I just started out with C and have very little knowledge about performance issues with malloc() and free(). My question is as such: if I were to call malloc() followed by free() in a while-loop that loops for, say, 20 times, would it run slower compared to if I were to call free() outside the loop? I am actually using the first method to allocate memory to a buffer, read a string of variable length in a file, perform some string operation, and then clear the buffer after every iteration. If my method results in a lot of overhead then I'd like to ask for a better way for me to achieve the same results. Sorry for my bad English. Thanks and regards, K

Finding a pattern within a string variable in C#

Ok i'm working on a project for a 200 level C# course, we are required to create a heads or tails project. Basically the project is setup so that the computer will guess randomly up to 5 times, but on the sixth time it will look into the playersGuessHistory variable setup as a string to see if it can find a match for a pattern of 4 entires, if there is a pattern found the computer will guess the next character after the pattern EX: [HHTT]H [HHTTH]H HHTT being the pattern then the computer would guess H for the next turn. My only problem is that i'm having difficulty setting up the project so that it will look through the playersguesshistory and find the patterns and guess the next character in the history. Any suggestions?

Text formatting within textarea

Variations on my problem have been discussed elsewhere, so I hope I'm not duplicating! I'm implementing a simple Private Messaging System as part of a web app. I've got an annoying problem though when dynamically inserting text into a textarea box in order to make a reply. Getting the content and displaying it is fine, but I can't work out how to format it correctly. Obviously, I can't use html tags, but plain text formatting like line breaks and carriage returns seem to be ignored too. This happens when an existing message is being displayed either as part of a reply or as a thread in a new message. How do I check what formatting is being saved in my db? Or indeed what formatting is being sent back from my db?!

For a project I'm using jqote for templating in JavaScript and HTML generated by MVC 4 with Razor. Without the script tags it works. But we need the script tags cause we need to template in JavaScript. Hardcoded it works, but we need to use a variable because this will not always be a template. Without the @if it works, but it's there, we need it. Reading xml within xml as String in flex/AS3

I'm getting XML input that looks like this <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <data1>this is data 1</data1> <data2>this is data 2</data2> <data3> <3a>this is data 3a</3a> <3b>this is data 3b</3b> <3c> <TextFlow xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/textLayout/2008"> <p direction="ltr" > <span>some text</span> <span>some additional text</span> </p> <p direction="ltr"> <span>some text</span> <span>some additional text</span> </p> </TextFlow> </3c> </data3> I can read <data1> with event.result.data1 which outputs a string this is data1 But when I do the same thing to event.result.data3.3c, it prints object [object] so I guess it's trying to dig deeper into the tree. But I need the actual string text (not xml tree) starting from and including <TextFlow></TextFlow> to be stored and printed as a string. Any idea what's the syntax for this? The string I'm looking for would look like this: <TextFlow xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/textLayout/2008"> <p direction="ltr" > <span>some text</span> <span>some additional text</span> </p> <p direction="ltr"> <span>some text</span> <span>some additional text</span> </p> </TextFlow>

Using SQL to calculate a date within a certain date range

Hi, I'm using access 2007 and i am trying to set up a database to act as a library system, i need a function that automatically calculates a date 14 days after a given date i.e. Loan Date vs. Due Date. But the library is open only on certain Days. So i need the 14 days not to include the dates that are out of hours, like weekends and school holidays etc. I think i need to use Select Case or IIF's? Launching python within python and timezone issue

I had to make a launcher script for my django app, and it seems it somehow switches the timezone to GMT (default being +2), and every datetime is two hours behind when using the script. What could be causing that? My query is related to the answers i got for questions i had posted earlier in the same forum. I have a copy of a client database which is attached to SQL Server where the Central Database exists. The copy already contains the updated data. I just want to update from that copy to Central Database both holding same schema and are present in the same server using C# .NET. One of the solution i got was to create SSIS package and run it from the UI. I want to know as how i can create SSIS Package to achieve this. I am new to SSIS. I am using SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition and Visual Studio 2008 SP1 installed. I learnt that BIDS 2005 is used to create packages which comes by default with SQL Server 2005. Can someone please give me a example as i am new to this.
