hi,
I'm using the following lines to store the location of an object.
var lightboxTop = $('#lightbox').css('top');
var lightboxLeft = $('#lightbox').css('
left');
I'm successively moving this object in my element, and I want to restore it previous position with the stored variables.
But, I'm afraid javascript is saving the values by reference so I lose the initial positions. Am I correct ? How can I solve this ?
thanks
Hello,
I'm building a shopping cart and I would like to use a JavaScript function to validate user input when entering the quantity value in the quantity text input. I would like to allow the entering of integer values only (no floats, no other characters).
I know that I can apply this function using onKeyUp event and also I found isNaN() function, but it returns true even for floats (which is not ok).
Can you guys help me out with this one?
Thanks.
Is it possible to resize a background image on load using javascript? I don't care about dynamically resizing the image according to window size or anything, I just want to take large images and resize them to a specific width and height so that the full image fits inside a specific layout.

Hi,
I'd like to mimick iPhone main screen in JavaScript on Safari / Chrome / Firefox.
By mimicking I mean:
- Having a couple of pages
- Switching between the pages by clicking & dragging / swiping with my mouse
- Having those dots from the bottom iPhone main screen displaying which page it is
The closest to what I want is:
http://jquery.hinablue.me/jqiphoneslide/
But the sliding doesn't work nearly as good as in iPhone (i have to slide first, and the animation appears after i release the mouse button), and there are no dots at the bottom.
How come this pop-up gets a size other than what I have specified, when testing it in IE6 and FireFox 3.6? Firefox displays it correctly but IE6 is smaller for some reason. (620x530 instead) How can I fix it?
<A id="myID" onclick="window.open('/sitecollectiondocuments/myPage.htm', 'welcome','width=630,height=590')" href="javascript:void(0)"></A>
hi,
i'm using the mshtml library for parsing out html via MSHTML.HTMLDocument.
my question: is there a way to assign a javascript function to a dom element?
i've tried something like:
div.onmouseover = "function(){alert('mouseover')}"
and
div.setattribute "onmouseover" , "function(){alert('mouseover')}"
without success (no error but no effect either).
anyone knows if its possible?
thx
Is there a difference, performance or efficiency wise, between placing javascript calls such as blur, onclick etc. in $(document).ready(function(){ as opposed to placing them in DOM?
Thanks!
Django-compress is great, but it doesn't offer any tags for compressing in-page javascript.
Are there some solutions out there? Even removing newlines (and adding ";" where needed) would be just great.
Hello all,
How do I remove numbers from a string using Javascript?
I am not very good with regex at all but I think I can use with replace to achieve the above?
It would actually be great if there was something JQuery offered already to do this?
//Something Like this??
var string = 'All23';
string.replace('REGEX', '');
I appreciate any help on this.

Hi,
I have a javascript function that writes the value of input box to a cookie, then it tells the page to refresh. The page must be refreshed to the server side can reconstruct the page based on the values of the cookies. Output the correct data on the page.
However I do not want the user to lose the value they type on the input box unless they erase it.
what can i do?
Are there any libraries knocking around that provide any additional general purpose math functions for Javascript? Say things like sums over a range, derivatives, integrals, etc. I can imagine that many things aren't possible, so even libraries that do rough approximations would be interesting.
Thanks!
I'm learning Javascript right now. Can anybody tell me why the second code block traces a empty path for -launch(this)- but using the first code block it gives me the right path?
"<form action='"+launchwebsite+"/subsite/' method='post' target='_blank' onsubmit='launch(this)'>"
and this not:
"<a onclick='launch(this)' title='launch' class='iblack' /></a></div>"
Best
Uli
I am trying to make a javascript function (although jquery is perfectly OK) that will return a number that corresponds to the number of checkboxes checked in a form. Seems simple enough but I can't figure out a good way of doing it.
Thanks.
