    What I would like to do, is be able to pass two attributes to a user control, a ListName and a Permission, like so: <uc:check id="uc" List="Shared Documents" Permission="OpenItems" runat="server"> <!-- have some HTML content here that is rendered if the permission is true --> </uc:check> Then in the actual check user control, have something similar to: <%@ Control language="C#" ClassName="check" %> <% // determine permission magic placeholder if (DoesUserHavePermissions(perm)) { // render nested HTML content } else { // abort rendering as to not show nested HTML content } %> I have read the page on creating a templated control on MSDN, and while that would work - it really seems to be a bit overkill for what I am trying to do. My question is why do I need to have the last if statement? If I don't have this it will throw an error saying that the identifier does not exist when it tries to do oListItem["PublishToSM"]. This seems impossible since my CAML query is checking that that has an appropriate value...

  • RenderPattern headache with WSS 3.0 Document Library

    Hi All, I'm trying to define the DisplayPattern of a custom field to do as follow. It's a simple text field used in document libraries, but i want the text entered to be displayed as a link to the document in the list view. <URL Cmd="Display"> gives me the display form, but I want the link to actually download/open the document... I can't for the life of me figure this one out... Thanks for your help!

  • Item-Level Permissions (Edit only their own but, read everyones)...

    I have a list which I've set item-level permissions on. I set it to allow users to read all items and only edit their own items... The issue is that if I do this then I can still edit all items... If I change it so that I can only read my own and only edit my own then it works as expected... Anyone have any thoughts on why this would be occurring and a solution... I've set the list up to only allow one user account with contribute rights for testing purposes...

Is there a way to set the Lists property to search both at the same time?

    Hello, I am getting item by getiembyid...but I want to check before using it that whether item exist or not...I don't want to use query as main purpose of using Getitembyid is performance.....any idea how to achieve this... itemid = Response.QueryString["loc"]; SPList mylist = myweb.GetList(SPUrlUtility.CombineUrl(myweb.ServerRelativeUrl, "/Lists/Location")); //now id itemid does not exist it throws exception...so i want to check before using following statement that itemid exist...I know i can check throw SPQuery but as i said above because of performance issue only i m using itemid.... SPListItem myitem = mylist.GetItemById(Convert.ToInt32(itemid)); Any idea how to achieve this?

    hi, Help plz! How can I make a webpart that has a button called "Create Site" and it programatically create a site (using my own custom template e.g. Mytemplate.STP) ? The reason is of such task is, I dont want user to go into "Sites Action" - create Site - and then fill the whole form. I want to give a user an easy interface with only title field, the rest i want to be done programatically. Any other suggestions or work arounds are also appreciated. Thank you

  • Creating Wiki Pages through code or CAML

    We are trying to create a site definition that includes a wiki page. Basically we are trying to figure out how to replicate the same process that happens when a user chooses to create a new page in a blank site, and the system says something along the lines of: "In order to create wiki pages on this site, there must be a default wiki page library and site assets library. Would you like to create those document libraries now?" When the user chooses yes, the system provisions those libraries as well as a few "howto" wiki pages. If anyone knows how to trigger that roll-out though code or CAML, we would appreciate the help.

    Hey, I am onto a task in which i have to create a link in a doccument library either upload or new link,clicking on which a form/page "not infopath" will get open and allow to upload the doccument and along with that we have some text boxes on the same page which will be asking for the properties of the doccument(like "Customer of the doccument","content Developer") and after filling up all of the things when user click on submit than in the doccument library the value of the url as well as properties comes into the columns/fields of the doccument library. Can anyone have the solution for this?

    Hi, I am trying check if the inner html of the element is empty but I wanted to do the validation on the server side, I'm treating the html as a string. I wanted to do the checking on the server side. No need to worry about how to I managed to access the DOM I have already taken cared of it. Consider the htmlString as the Html string.     I recently purchased a used Dell PowerEdge 2950. I setup the hard drives in RAID-5 configuration. I want to be able to get an email alert if one of the drives fails. I have been trying to determine what the easiest way to setup an email alert would be. The controller card is listed as PERC5I, SAS PowerEdge. From my numerous Google searches, it looks like I need to install Dell OpenManage Essentials. However ,this looks to be a giant application with tons of bells & whistles for managing many servers, when all I really want is something for this one server. Can anyone offer me any insight into what I could do?

    Microsoft Security Essentials seems to allow only quarantine or delete actions for program that it deems to have "high" or "severe" risk. However, it also assigns these levels to what it considers to be "hacking tools". Is there a way to override this nanny behaviour and force programs on the allowed list? Thank you.
