    I am wondered why there is no generalized parser combinators for Bottom-up parsing in Haskell like a Parsec combinators for top down parsing.   • c++ g++ llvm-clang compiler profiling

    Note, my question is not: how do I tell my compiler to compile with profiling on. I want to profile my compiles process. For each file, I'd like to know how much time is spent on each line of the program. I'm working on a project, some files have huge compile times, I'm trying to figure out why. Is there anyway to do this with g++ or llvm-clang? Thanks!

    I want to ignore all files in my repository except those that occur in the 'bin' subdirectory. I tried adding the following to my .gitignore * !bin/* This does not have the desired effect, however: I created a new file inside of bin/, but doing 'git status' still "shows nothing to commit (working directory clean)" Any suggestions?   • Choosing a Java IDE for homework assignments

    Can anyone recommend a light Java IDE that doesn't require you to make new projects each time you want to compile and run a program? I just want to be able to open java files and compile and run them. I have already tried Eclipse and NetBeans but both require you to make a new project each time you want to compile and run a program. Making a new project is fine for large scale projects but for small school assignments this just makes the process more tedious. Thanks

    I'm clearing IE's cache programmatically using DeleteUrlCacheEntry() and I would like to verify that I did it correctly. Should I expect the Temporary Internet Files folder to be empty after clearing the cache? (it isn't) If not then what is the simplest way to determine whether the browser is using its cache when accessing a site?

    Does anyone have any good answer what kind of difference there is between using some arbitrary pre-formatted Excel 2007 *.xlsx file as a template, loading it in my C# app, and filling up some of its cells with data using the Microsoft OpenXML SDK versus creating specific Excel templates (*.xltx) files and using those as basis for my "data filling" exercise Do I loose something when I don't use the Excel templates (*.xltx)? If so - what do I loose?

    I'm working on an ASP.NET webapp using the MVP pattern, and as I'm organizing my files I'm wondering - are there conventions on folders within projects and how they relate to namespaces? I have a bunch of controls and a bunch of pages, and I was going to throw them into Controls and Pages folders with subfolders, but I didn't know if it was bad form to do this if I wasn't also going to seperate them out into namespaces.     I have two servers -- a backend server, and a frontend server. Every night, the backend server generates static .html files, which are then compressed into .tar format. I need to write a script that resides on the backend server that will transfer the .tar file to the frontend server, and then decompress that .tar file into to the public web directory of the frontend server.   • Installing Ruby 1.9.1 on Ubuntu?

    I wonder about installing the latest version of Ruby on Ubuntu 9.04. Now I can run through the ./configure and make stuff fine, but what I wonder about: how to avoid conflicts with the packaging system? For example if some other package I install depends on Ruby, wouldn't the package manager install the (outdated) Ruby package and in the worst case overwrite my files? So I think I need some way to tell Ubuntu that Ruby is in fact already installed?

    My app needs to process text files during a batch process. Occassionally I receive a file with some special character at the end of the file. I am not sure what that special character is. Is there anyway I can find what that character is so that I can tell the other team which is producing that file. I have used mozilla's library to guess the file encoding and it says UTF-8.

    I am looking for a site that allows you to input a project name, choose a doctype, a js library etc. and then generates the directory structure and files to start a web project. I know about project deploy, but it is no longer maintained. There was a new one that was created within the last 2 or 3 months, but for the life of me I can't find it either through Google nor my delicious bookmarks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
