• ASP.NET MVC:Why does the CheckBoxFor render an additional input tag and how can I get the value usin

  Hi, In my ASP.NET MVC app I am rendering out a checkbox using the following code: <%= Html.CheckBoxFor(i=>i.ReceiveRSVPNotifications) %> Now I see that this renders both the checkbox input tag and a hidden input tag. The problem that I am having is when I try retrieve the value from the checkbox using the FormCollection: FormValues["ReceiveRSVPNotifications"] I get the value "true,false". When looking at the rendered out HTML I can see the following: <input id="ReceiveRSVPNotifications" name="ReceiveRSVPNotifications" value="true" type="checkbox"> <input name="ReceiveRSVPNotifications" value="false" type="hidden"> So the FormValues collection seems to join these two values since they have the same name. Any Ideas?

• Is there a good way to convert between BitmapSource and Bitmap?

  As far as I can tell the only way to convert from BitmapSource to Bitmap is through unsafe code...   For my current project, we're using some CLR 2 based mixed mode assemblies. In order to use these from within a .NET 4 targetted assembly, I know you have to add useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy=true to the <startup> element within app.config. I understand that this changes the activation policy, causing these mixed-mode assemblies to be loaded using the highest supported version of the CLR. However, are there any side effects to doing this? What potential issues should I watch for when enabling the non-default activation policy?

• C# Winforms - SQL Server 2005 stored procedure - parameters from TextBox

  I'm trying to call a parameterized stored procedure from SQL Server 2005 in my C# Winforms app. I add the parameters like so (there are 88 of them): cmd.Parameters.Add("@CustomerName", SqlDbType.VarChar, 100).Value = CustomerName.Text; I get the following exception: "System.InvalidCastException: Failed to convert parameter value from a TextBox to a String. ---> System.InvalidCastException: Object must implement IConvertible." The line throwing the error is when I call the query: cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); I also tried using the .ToString() method on the TextBoxes, which seemed pointless anyway, and threw the same error. Am I passing the parameters incorrectly? Thanks for the help.

• Hide a view controller's view while flipping a view

  I have 3 views in my app. Main view has 2 buttons and when selected it displays 2nd view(which again has buttons and displays a 3rd view with images). I have a home button on second view. When pressed I want to show the main view. I can do this if I add the 2nd view as subview [self.view addSubview:secondViewController.view] But whenever 2nd view flips to display the 3rd view, I can see the main view while it is flipping. Now if I add 2nd view as below self.view = secondViewController.view then I dont have the main view to display when the home button is pressed. How can I hide the main view when 2nd view is flipping to show 3rd view?

  Hi, I keep getting this error when I run my web app (asp.net mvc) in the mobile safari (ITouch) JavaScript Error line 1 SyntaxError: Parse error JavaScript Error line 1 SyntaxError: Parse error I have no problem running this in any other browser (including safari). I suspect this is something to do with mobile safari handling javascript files. I am using MicrosoftMvcAjax.js and Jquery. • Installing Visual Studio 2003 on Windows 7 64-bit

  My team is currently supporting a 1.1 app and we are installing VS.NET 2003 on Windows 7. We haven't had any issues on the 32-bit machines, but FrontPage Server Extensions are failing to install on my 64-bit machine. Others on the Interwebs say that they have done this successfully, so I wanted to know if anyone here has and if they know of a solution. The specific issue is that FPSE (to clarify, I'm installing "FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions for IIS 7.0") fails to install correctly. In EventViewer I get the error: Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions: Error #3004f Message: Unable to read configuration information for Microsoft Internet Information Server: ImpersonateLoggedOnUser Error. I've looded for errors with ImpersonateLoggedOnUser on 64-bit and did find a case where it fails on 64-bit when UAC is turned off (which I did have it off). I turned UAC back on, ran command prompt as administrator, and ran msiexec on the FPSE package. Still no dice. • Proper way to add record to many to many relationship in Django

  First off, I'm planning on running my project on google app engine so I'm using djangoappengine which as far as I know doesn't support django's ManyToManyField type. Because of this I've setup my models like this: from django.db import models from django.contrib.auth.models import User class Group(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=200) class UserGroup(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User) group = models.ForeignKey(Group) On a page I have a form field where people can enter a group name. I want the results from this form field to create a UserGroup object for the user - group combination and if the group doesn't yet exist create a new Group object. At first I started putting this logic in the UserGroup class with a add_group method but quickly realized that it doesn't really make sense to put this in the UserGroup class. What would the proper way of doing this be? I saw some stuff about model managers. Is this what those are for?

• Rails: savage_beast forum plugin and tinymce - new post works but edit doesn't use tinymce properly

  Hi all. I'm using the savage_beast forum plugin and tinymce (via the tinymce_hammer plugin) in my rails app. When posting a new post, tinymce works fine. However, when i go to edit a post i get the tinymce editor, but the content in the edit box has all been converted into html. Can anyone tell me how i get it so that what appears in the tinymce edit box is the original text i posted, rather than the converted-to-html version? Does it need to get converted back from html into a format tinymce will use? Savage_beast saves the original given text in a body field, and the converted-to-html text in a body_html field. After tinymce does its work in the first instance (ie when posting a new post) the body field gets text that's already been converted to html. So i guess i need to convert it back to whatever tinymce expects? I'd expect tinymce to be happy with getting html, and to just handle it, though. grateful for any advice - max

Currently it consists of custom DirectShow push filter (C++) which receives data from remote hosts using RTP protocol and tiny C# application that sets up the DirectShow graph and is used as a container for the video. I'm using DirectShowLib interop library. However, I'm not sure how to pass parameters from this C# app to my custom filter. What are possible ways to do it?

I was working on migrating MVC1 app to MVC2 today and i have come across a problem while changing the ValidationMessage to ValidationMessageFor implementation. The below is the selectlist in my View <%=Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.SecurityQuestions[0].Question, "Some Security question", new { @class = "form_element_select" })%> The below code works fine and i can see the validation message came from modelstate. <%= Html.ValidationMessage("SecurityQuestions_0__Question")%> but this one does not work: <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.SecurityQuestions[0].Question)%> SecurityQuestions is a generic list in my model public List<SecurityQuestion> SecurityQuestions { get; set; } Is this somewhat a bug in "ValidationMessageFor" or am i missing something here?

• how to disable a jqgrid select list (dropdown) on the edit form

  This is strange and any alternative method to what I want to accomplish is welcome. My app uses the jqgrid 3.5.3 and I need to disable a select list on my edit form. When I do so using the code displayed below it breaks the edit form - meaning I can not cancel or submit it. Thanks. This code is in the edit options array of the navGrid method. The the dropdown is the 'serv_descr' field. The others are text boxes and don't pose a problem. • Render string to texture in Android and OpenGL ES

  I've googled around everywhere, but cannot find much for rendering strings to textures and then displaying that texture on a quad on the screen. Can someone provide a run-down on the process or provide good resources that describe how? Is rendering strings to textures even the best method for displaying text in an Android OpenGL ES app? EDIT: Okay, so LabelMaker interferes with alpha blending, the texture (created from a PNG with a transparent background) now has a solid black background, rather than a transparent background. If I comment out all the LabelMaker-related code, it works fine.

• Consume WCF Web Service in Objective-C on an iPhone

  I am having a hard time consuming a very simple (Hello World) WCF web service in my iPhone app. From what I have read, you must manually create the request message then send it to the web service URL. I was able to accomplish this on a .asmx web service, but not with a WCF service. How do I know the correct format of the request SOAP message? The web service I am trying to hit has a format of: http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:PORT/IService1/ (running locally in a VM) I apologize for the lack of information, I am pretty lost.   Hi, I'm developing an iPhone app. I need to create a Quiz application that has different Question views embedded in it (see my similar question). Different types of Question will have different behavior, so I plan to create a controller class for each type of Question. The MultipleChoiceQuestionController would set up a question and 3-4 buttons for the user to select an answer. Similarly, the IdentifyPictureQuestionController would load an image and present a text box to the user. However, the docs say that a UIViewController should only be used for views that take up the entire application window. How else can I create a class to manage events in my subviews? Thanks,

• In my WCF service with IXmlSerializable class, I get ArrayOfXElement[] instead of ObservableCollecti

  I have an existing class (I didn't write) that implements IXmlSerializable. I decided to create a WCF service so my Silverlight application could access this class. I return the class as List. In the generated proxy, instead of an ObservableCollection like I'm expecting, I get ArrayOfXElement[]. If I remove the IXmlSerializable attribute, I get an the ObservableCollection. I don't quite understand what is happening, but I just want my SL app to receive an ObservableCollection. Is my only choice to create a DTO class and send back a list of those? Any advice?

• Exclude a directory from a rewriterule using ISAPI rewrite 3

  Basically I've recently added the below rule in my httpd.conf for ISAPI rewrite on an IIS server to make sure that it always defaults to lower-case file and directory names. RewriteRule ^(.*[A-Z].*)$ $1 [CL,R=301,L] This is all fine and dandy for every part of the site except for one directory which we can call /MisbehavingDir, the code in this particular directory is filled with mixed-case filenames and lots of server- and client-side scripting that would have to be rewritten to use all lower-case in order to work properly (with the RewriteRule above it seems to hit a couple of 301s in the wrong places which causes that part of the site to function poorly to say the least). Since I'm not in the mood for rewriting that part of the site I'd love to find a good way to modify the above regex so that it matches everything except paths starting with MisbehavingDir and since my regex-fu isn't really good enough I figured I'd ask here. Is there a simple "beautiful" solution to this that anyone wants to share or should I just set aside several days to rewrite the app, then test it and go through that whole dance?

• Facebook FQL - How do I fetch the posts I made to a friend's wall

  I have a facebook desktop app with some test users all having granted the stream_read & offline access permissions. I can easily retrieve posts to each users' stream & profile. What I cannot do easily is retrieve posts that a user has made to one of their friend's walls. In fact, this used to work with a rather complex multiquery, but has stopped working now, or is working only intermittently... Does anyone care to share their method if one exists or discuss what restrictions there might be to this type of complex querying?

• iPad SplitView changes main navigation bar color

  Weird problem: After rotating my app to portrait, picking the toolbar item and exposing the uipopovercontroller, if I rotate back to landscape, the UINavigationController on the right side (objectAtIndex:0 of the SplitView) changes the color of the navigation bar. I am not sure why. I have it set in Interface Builder to be barStyle = UIBarStyleBlackOpaque; It turns silver after it returns to landscape mode. This only happens if I rotate it to portrait, create the popover, and select something in the navigation controller, which pushes another tableViewController. Even setting the properties in the viewDidLoad method does nothing. Anyone have an idea?
