  • iPhone + Android App to view Blog

    What would be the best way to write an app for the iPhone OS and the Android OS that allows access to a web blog (posted on blogspot.com)? Are there ways to manipulate the incoming data from the website to fit the UI of the phones, or will I have to re-do a lot of the blogs? Any help would be nice! And thank you in advance!

  • Panel in Windows Forms Application not clearing

    I'm working on my project: [Beer Pong Management System][1], a Windows Forms application. I am currently trying to add a whole tournament mode to it. In a nutshell, I've created a TabControl, with the first tab page with the settings and setup and the second page the brackets. There is a feature for each of the match-ups, that once there is a winner is decided, a yellow cancel button will appear in order to revert the tournament. However my issue is when i click the button the next match-up does not get removed in the series is going. See below: Image Here(not high enough rep to insert image) I have tried to set the MatchUp to null, I've tried dispose(), close(). even Parent.Controls.Remove(). Even after I switch tabs which is supposed to clear all, they still sit there when i come back. I have a feeling I might be loosing a reference or something because I can't even push new teams into them, they just sit there with their buttons.   • Is it possible to produce a small preview or thumbnail image of a Crystal report in code?

    I'm using Crystal to display the reports in my project, and I'd like to be able to display a small preview or thumbnail image of the report to the user when he or she is picking a report to display from my UI. Is there any way to produce these thumbnails dynamically from code? The user has the option to add or remove reports by adding or removing them from the reports folder, so just making all the thumbnail images by hand isn't really an option.

  • Page rendering time are not steady in IE6

    I have to support IE6 and I calculate rendering time by creating a timestamp in javascript at the beginning of the page and doing the difference when document.ready is fired in jQuery. If I do 3 pages load, the rendering times in milliseconds can look like this : page 1 : 735, 2672, 734 page 2 : 3063, 1516, 3375 page 3 : 8281, 2531, 3703 Why is that? How can I have more consistency?

  • accessing specific icons from a Multi-Icon (.ico) file

    Dear community. I would like to know if the following is possible. I have an .ico file, containing several sizes and color depths. However, it also contains some custom made sizes, that are going to be used inside my application. The application accesses the icon trough a resource DLL. (The intention is that the DLL is provided by a third party developer) Is there any way to pinpoint exactly which of the icons in the .ico file to use in my application? Like I want this size to appear here on my GUI etc. For instance, I am making a button in my application, and I would like my custom made 15*32 icon from my .ico file to be displayed on the button. I know this is possible by adding the bitmaps one at a time to the resource DLL, giving each of them a unique name. But it would be easier, if I am able to identify the different contents of the icon file instead. Is it possible in some way to look at the icon file as an array of icons or something like that? Any help is much appreciated. It seems quite hard to find information about this subject on the web. Oh, and I am writing my application in C#, using MFC DLL (from Visual C++ to create my resource DLL)

  • Programming powering off and powering on in one single OnClick function on android

    I would like to write an activity that after clicking on a button turns off the screen and then turns it back on after 2 secs. I tried using the following code in order to power off the screen: WindowManager.LayoutParams lp = getWindow().getAttributes(); lp.screenBrightness = 0/(float)255; getWindow().setAttributes(lp); But it would only take effect when then onClick function returns. I tried running it into a handler but with no success. I need to find a way to force the setting to get applied before the function returns so that I can call the power on function 2 secs later on the same onClick call. I also found it very hard to wakeup the device afterwards. While this code works if I power off the screen using the physical button it doesn't seem to work when the phone is powered off using the technique described previously.   • If innerHTML is evil, then what's a better way change the text of a link?

    I know innerHTML is supposedly evil, but I think it's the simplest way to change link text. For example: <a id="mylink" href="">click me</a> In JS you can change the text with: document.getElementById("mylink").innerHTML = new_text; And in Prototype/jQuery: $("mylink").innerHTML = new_text; works fine. Otherwise you have to replace all of the child nodes first and then add a text node. Why bother?

  • Getting values from another winform and passing it to current!

    Hello: I have 2 windows forms. The 1st one who gets active during start of the program has a button in which another 2nd windows form appears which has text field in which user type their name and HIT okay. Now in the 1st form I have a variable name: nameproccessed which takes the name from the second form. But the problem is my button which is in the 1st form has more functions besides taking name, how can I stop the flow of the compiler to take first the name from the second form and then process the rest execution of the function???     I wants to create an extension where content script will send message to background page and then on browser action means clicking on extension icon will access that background page and get some data.I am using chrome Version 23.0.1271.64 m on windows8. I am getting following error. Port error: Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist. I tried to solve the same. but people are using sendRequest which is not supported by chrome20+. i also found solution mentioned for chrome 20+. But not working. Please help.   • New to JEE; architecture suggestions for a service/daemon?

    I am brand new to the JEE world. As an exercise to try and familiarize myself with JEE, I'm trying to create a tiered web-app, but I'm getting a little stuck on what the best way is to spin up a service in the background that does work. Parameters of the service: It must open and hold a socket connection and receive information from the connected server. There is a 1-to-1 correlation between a user and a new socket connection. So the idea is the user presses a button on the web-page, and somewhere on the server a socket connection is opened. For the remainder of the users session (or until the user presses some sort of disconnect button) the socket remains open and pushes received information to some sort of centralized store that servlets can query and return to the user via AJAX. Is there a JEE type way to handle this situation? Naturally what I would think to do is to just write a Java application that listens on a port that the servlets can connect to and spawns new threads that open these sockets, but that seems very ad-hoc to me. (PS: I am also new to Stack Overflow, so forgive me if it takes me some time to figure the site out!)

Have the super class create all the header component and open the components to the sub class, the sub class will access to component's setText method to update the text? or Have abstract method in super class to create the components, sub class will implement these methods to create the component.   • How to pass non-fatal warnings from a library

    A library function parses a file and returns an object. If a parser encounters unknown data, missing values etc., it shouldn't throw an exception and stop parsing (because this is not fatal), but there should be a way to pass information about these things to a caller (so that warnings can be displayed in the UI, for example). How can these warning be returned? I'm thinking of passing a callback function/object into the library, are there any other possible solutions?
