  • Disable button until tabs have been read...

    - by jimbo
    I have some tabs which have been created using Javascript and Mootools, my client wants the 'next button' at the bottom of the page to be disabled, until the tabs have been read(clicked). The page is dynamic (created with PHP and MySQL) and there could be two tabs or three, depending on the set-up. I am struggling today to think of the best solution. Any help more than welcome...

  • If you tried to use Ubuntu then went back to your old OS, why did you do so?

    - by Michael Forrest
    Over the past few years I've been dipping in and out of Ubuntu every so often because I believe in the idea. However, there have always been factors that have made me give up and return to either Windows or OS X, intending to come back when Ubuntu has had a bit more time to 'bake'. Anecdotally, if you have had similar experiences, why did you go back? If we can address these sorts of issues, maybe Ubuntu can get over this hump. I mean 'chasm'.

  • Should I go back to college and graduate with a poor GPA or try to jump into an entry-level development position? [closed]

    - by jshin47
    I once attended a top-10 American university but I am currently not in school for several different reasons. Chief among them is that I did very poorly two semesters and even failed one of them (got two F's) which put me in automatic suspension. My major is not CS but math. I am in a pickle at the moment. After I was suspended I got a job at a niche IT company in the area. I am employed as something of an IT generalist; my primary responsibilities are Windows systems administration/networking but I also do some Android, iOS, and .NET development. I have released a few apps to the app store under my name and my company's name, and we have done work for a few big clients. I started working at my job about 1.5 years ago and I am somewhat happily employed but I do not see it as a long-term fit because it is a small company with little opportunity to advance. I would like to move out to California and particularly to the Bay Area to get a job at a more reputable or exciting company, even at a lower rate of pay, but I am not sure if I should do that or try to go back to school. If I went back to school, it would take 1-1.5 years to graduate and some $. Best case scenario I would graduate with a 2.9 or 3.0 GPA. It is a top-10 school, but that's a crappy GPA. If I do not go back to school, I will be a field where most people have degrees, without a degree. If anything goes wrong I could be really screwed as I feel I will get no respect without a degree. On the other hand I really would like to get started in the field and get more serious about developing good development practices, learning new languages/frameworks, and working with people who know a lot more than I so I can learn and grow as a developer and eventually do my own thing. Basically, I am wondering: Should I just go back to school? How much does the bad GPA / good school reputation weigh in? What about the fact that I am a Math major and not a CS major (have never taken a CS course)? Does my skill set as something of a generalist bode well for me finding work at a start up in the Bay Area? If not (2), should I hunker down and focus on producing a really good (or a few medicore) iOS apps? Android apps? etc... How would you look at someone who did great in HS, kind of goofed off in college and eventually quit, and got into development? Thanks for any thoughts or input.

  • Background changes by itself and procedure repeats many times until I release the mouse button

    - by Robert
    Dear community, I am a student, and I'm working on a little slots game (if the same random number comes up 3 timed, you win). I use Borland Pascal 7. I use graph to make this a bit more visual, but when I start the game my background turns from black to grey, and the other problem is that if I click the game start button, the game runs many times until I release the mouse button. How can I solve this? Here is my full program: program slots; uses mymouse,graph,crt; var gdriver,gmode,coin:integer; m:mouserec; a,b,c,coins:string; procedure gomb(x1,y1,x2,y2:integer;szoveg:string); var j,n:integer; begin setcolor(blue); rectangle(x1,y1,x2,y2); setfillstyle(1,blue); floodfill(x1+2,y1+2,blue); setcolor(0); outtextxy((x1+x2)div 2 -textwidth(szoveg) div 2 ,(y1+y2) div 2-textheight(szoveg) div 2,szoveg); end; procedure randomal(var a,b,c:string); begin randomize; STR(random(2)+1,a); STR(random(2)+1,b); STR(random(2)+1,c); end; procedure menu; begin; settextstyle(0,0,1); outtextxy(20,10,'Meno menu'); gomb(20,20,90,50,'Teglalap'); gomb(20,60,90,90,'Inditas'); gomb(20,100,90,130,'Harmadik'); gomb(20,140,90,170,'Negyedik'); end; procedure teglalap(x1,x2,y1,y2,tinta:integer); begin setcolor(tinta); rectangle(x1,x2,y1,y2); end; procedure jatek(var a,b,c:string;var coin:integer;coins:string); begin; clrscr; menu; randomal(a,b,c); if ((a=b) AND (b=c)) then coin:=coin+1 else coin:=coin-1; settextstyle(0,0,3); setbkcolor(black); outtextxy(200,20,a); outtextxy(240,20,b); outtextxy(280,20,c); STR(coin,coins); outtextxy(400,400,coins); end; procedure eger; begin; mouseinit; mouseon; menu; repeat getmouse(m); if (m.left) and (m.x20) ANd (m.x<90) and (m.y20) and (m.y<50) then teglalap(90,90,300,300,blue); if (m.left) and (m.x20) AND (m.x<90) and (m.y60) and (m.y<90) then jatek(a,b,c,coin,coins); until ((m.left) and (m.x20) ANd (m.x<140) and (m.y140) and (m.y<170)); end; begin coin:=50; gdriver:=detect; initgraph(gdriver, gmode, ''); eger; end. I can press the menu button on the phone and see the menu items I created, but when I click on the "Settings" (r.id.settings) it FC. Do I have to do anything to the manifest/other thing to get this to work??

  • (iOS) UI Automation AlertPrompt button/textField accessiblity

    - by lipd
    I'm having a bit of trouble with UI Automation (the built in to iOS tool) when it comes to alertView. First off, I'm not sure where I can set the accessibilityLabel and such for the buttons that are on the alertView. Secondly, although I am not getting an error, I can't get my textField to actually set the value of the textField to something. I'll put up my code for the alertView and the javaScript I am using for UI Automation. UIATarget.onAlert = function onAlert(alert) { // Log alerts and bail, unless it's the one we want var title = alert.name(); UIALogger.logMessage("Alert with title '" + title + "' encountered!"); alert.logElementTree(); if (title == "AlertPrompt") { UIALogger.logMessage(alert.textFields().length + ''); target.delay(1); alert.textFields()["AlertText"].setValue("AutoTest"); target.delay(1); return true; // Override default handler } else return false; } var target = UIATarget.localTarget(); var application = target.frontMostApp(); var mainWindow = application.mainWindow(); mainWindow.logElementTree(); //target.delay(1); //mainWindow.logElementTree(); //target.delay(1); var tableView = mainWindow.tableViews()[0]; var button = tableView.buttons(); //UIALogger.logMessage("Num buttons: " + button.length); //UIALogger.logMessage("num Table views: " + mainWindow.tableViews().length); //UIALogger.logMessage("Number of cells: " + tableView.cells().length); /*for (var currentCellIndex = 0; currentCellIndex < tableView.cells().length; currentCellIndex++) { var currentCell = tableView.cells()[currentCellIndex]; UIALogger.logStart("Testing table option: " + currentCell.name()); tableView.scrollToElementWithName(currentCell.name()); target.delay(1); currentCell.tap();// Go down a level target.delay(1); UIATarget.localTarget().captureScreenWithName(currentCell.name()); //mainWindow.navigationBar().leftButton().tap(); // Go back target.delay(1); UIALogger.logPass("Testing table option " + currentCell.name()); }*/ UIALogger.logStart("Testing add item"); target.delay(1); mainWindow.navigationBar().buttons()["addButton"].tap(); target.delay(1); if(tableView.cells().length == 5) UIALogger.logPass("Successfully added item to table"); else UIALogger.logFail("FAIL: didn't add item to table"); Here's what I'm using for the alertView #import "AlertPrompt.h" @implementation AlertPrompt @synthesize textField; @synthesize enteredText; - (id)initWithTitle:(NSString *)title message:(NSString *)message delegate:(id)delegate cancelButtonTitle:(NSString *)cancelButtonTitle okButtonTitle:(NSString *)okayButtonTitle withOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation) orientation { if ((self == [super initWithTitle:title message:message delegate:delegate cancelButtonTitle:cancelButtonTitle otherButtonTitles:okayButtonTitle, nil])) { self.isAccessibilityElement = YES; self.accessibilityLabel = @"AlertPrompt"; UITextField *theTextField; if(orientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait) theTextField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(12.0, 45.0, 260.0, 25.0)]; else theTextField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(12.0, 30.0, 260.0, 25.0)]; [theTextField setBackgroundColor:[UIColor whiteColor]]; [self addSubview:theTextField]; self.textField = theTextField; self.textField.isAccessibilityElement = YES; self.textField.accessibilityLabel = @"AlertText"; [theTextField release]; CGAffineTransform translate = CGAffineTransformMakeTranslation(0.0, 0.0); [self setTransform:translate]; } return self; } - (void)show { [textField becomeFirstResponder]; [super show]; } - (NSString *)enteredText { return [self.textField text]; } - (void)dealloc { //[textField release]; [super dealloc]; } @end Thanks for any help!

  • Hey You! Stop Using the Apply Button and Just Click OK! [Geek Rants]

    - by The Geek
    As a computer geek, I often find myself helping people, and watching them change settings on their PC… and they almost always click the Apply button, and then the OK button. Why? Whenever you encounter a dialog box in Windows, there are the standard OK, Cancel, Apply buttons—but you don’t actually have to click the Apply button first. The OK button does the same thing, saves the settings, and then closes the dialog box… saving you an extra click. Don’t believe me? Try it out for yourself. Only the worst possible application won’t behave that way, and you probably don’t want to use that type of application to begin with. The only exception to this rule is a multiple tab dialog box, on a badly written application. Sometimes… your settings on one tab won’t stick unless you click Apply. Note that in this particular case, you can make changes in any one of the tabs, and they will carry through without having to click Apply, because this dialog window is well written. We’re just using the screenshot as an example of a multiple tab setting interface. So now that you know better, you can tell us… do you always use the Apply button first? Have you ever found an instance where it behaves differently? Similar Articles Productive Geek Tips Got Awesome Skills?
