  • Why I get different date formats when I run my application through IIS and Visual Studio's web serve

    I get the same culture i.e. "en-US" while running the website from both IIS and Visual Studio's web server. But I get a different date format as follows, when I run the following code: HttpContext.Current.Response.Write(System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture.ToString()); HttpContext.Current.Response.Write(System.Threading.Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture.DateTimeFormat.ShortDatePattern); On Visual Studio's web server: dd/MM/yyyy en-US On IIS: M/d/yyyy en-US Does "Regional and Language Options" in "Control Panel" play any role in this ? If I change the date format there in "Regional and Language Options", I see no effect in my application.

Edit: I should have mentioned , I already looked most options available that I can found using google. Problem is not a single date+time picker is part of official jquery-ui project so some are for old jquery version. some have ugly UI choices. One which have somewhat good UI seems buggy.

    My application keeps all Java Date's in UTC. Parsing them is easy, but when I print them out, the display shows the computer's local time zone, and I want to show it as UTC. Example code: String sample = "271210 200157 UTC"; SimpleDateFormat dfmt = new SimpleDateFormat("ddMMyy HHmmss Z"); Date result = dfmt.parse(sample); System.out.printf("%tc\n", result); the result is Mon Dec 27 15:01:57 EST 2010 What I want is Mon Dec 27 20:01:57 UTC 2010 Clearly I have to set some Locale and TimeZone values, but I don't see where to put them.   • Is there a standardized (Meta?) Tag for the Date of a Website?

    One thing that search engines really suck with is the date when a website was created. You know the problem: You search for some CSS or JavaScript problem and Google returns a ton of results from 2002 explaining how to fix the problem in IE 5.5 and Netscape 4.6 while the helpful articles are buried on Page 3. There is only one use for Page 3, and meaningful search results are not it. Anyway, I just wonder if there is a standardized or at least generally accepted tag or meta tag that I can put on my own pages to indicate the date they were created? Not that it helps filtering out the old crap out of search results (especially since the people at #1 with their 2002 articles have zero incentive to change), but I'd just like to do my part :P

  • How to compare DateTime Objects while looping through a list?

    I'm trying to loop through a list (csv) containing two fields; a name and a date. There are various duplicated names and various dates in the list. I'm trying to deduce for each name in the list, where there are multiple instances of the same name, which corresponding date is the latest. I realise, from looking at another answer, that I need to use the DateTime.Compare method which is fine, but my problem is working out which date is later. Once I know this I need to produce a file with unique names and the latest date relating to it. This is my first question which makes me a newbie. EDIT: Initially I thought it would be 'ok' to set the LatestDate object to a date that wouldn't show up in my file, therefore making any later dates in the file the LatestDate.   • Using modified date of file for comparison. Is it safe?

    I want to make a procedure that does one way syncrhonization of a folder between a server and a client. I was thinking to use ModifiedDate as a criterio, provided that only the date of the server files will be used. Procedure will not use Modified dates of files on the client at all. It will read dates from the server and compare them with dates read from the server last time the procedure run. Do you think this is safe? Is there any possibility that Modified Date will not be changed when a file is edited or it will be changed without touching the contents of the file (eg. from some strange antivirus programs)?

  • Querying a smalldatetime's date and time seperately in SQL server?

    Imagine a table that has two fields, a smalltimedate and an int and about 1000 rows of data. What I'm attempting to do in query is to find the average of the INT field for rows between 3/3/2010 - 3/13/2010 and only if the entry is between 6:00am - 11:00pm. I tried between '2010-03-03 06:00 AND 2010-03-13 23:00' However that only restricts that very beginning and end times. I could do this with a loop but I'm going to need to have the same query run over much larger date ranges and this will quickly eat server resources. Is there a way to query date and time seperately?

    Hello, I have a form which asks the user his or her date of birth. Its a drop down box since I use the select input type. The first drop down has Months, second has Days, the third has the Years. So the format should be Month(October), Day(25), Year(1990). In other words the months spell out the actual month and not simply the number representation of the month. However, I would like to save the Day and Year in their respective formats. How can I do this in phpMyAdmin? Should I use the DATE type? what should the value be? I just need to know how to correlate all of this in phpmyadmin, so I can save it properly. Thank you.

  • Why is [date] + [time] non-deterministic in SQL Server 2008?

    I'm trying to do the following for my IIS logs table: ALTER TABLE [W3CLog] ADD [LogTime] AS [date] + ([time] - '1900-01-01') PERSISTED However, SQL Server 2008 tells me: Computed column 'LogTime' in table 'W3CLog' cannot be persisted because the column is non-deterministic. The table has this definition: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[W3CLog]( [Id] [bigint] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, ... [date] [datetime] NULL, [time] [datetime] NULL, ... ) Why is that non-deterministic? I really need to index that field. The table currently has 1598170 rows, and it is a pain to query if we can't do an index seek on the full time. Since this is being UNION'd with some other log formats, we can't very easily just use the two columns separately.

As a developer you have to be quick to grasp new programming languages and programming concepts as well as completely new technologies. I read about a guy who got fired at 50 years of age with tons of experience in some ancient technology and he now couldn't get a job anywhere because his experience wasn't in OOP or some other more modern concept.     Last night's annual Oracle Retail Week Awards saw the UK's top retailers come together to celebrate the very best of our industry over the last year.  The Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London was the setting for an exciting ceremony which this year marked several significant milestones in British - and global - retail.  Check out our videos about the event at our Oracle Retail YouTube channel, and see if you were snapped by our photographer on our Oracle Retail Facebook page. There were some extremely hot contests for many of this year's awards - and all very deserving winners.  The entries have demonstrated beyond doubt that retailers have striven to push their standards up yet again in all areas over the past year.  The judging panel includes some of the most prestigious names in the retail industry - to impress the panel enough to win an award is a substantial achievement.  This year the panel included the likes of Andy Clarke - Chief Executive of ASDA Group; Mark Newton Jones - CEO of Shop Direct Group; Richard Pennycook - the finance director at Morrisons; Rob Templeman - Chief Executive of Debenhams; and Stephen Sunnucks - the president of Gap Europe.  These are retail veterans  who have each helped to shape the British High Street over the last decade.  It was great to chat with many of them in the Oracle VIP area last night.  For me, last night's highlight was honouring both Sir Stuart Rose and Sir Terry Leahy for their contributions to the retail industry.  Both have set the standards in retailing over the last twenty years and taken their respective businesses from strength to strength, demonstrating that there is always a need for innovation even in larger businesses, and that a business has to adapt quickly to new technology in order to stay competitive.  Sir Terry Leahy's retirement this year marks the end of an era of global expansion for the Tesco group and a milestone in the progression of British retail.  Sir Terry has helped steer Tesco through nearly 20 years of change, with 14 years as Chief Executive.  During this time he led the drive for international expansion and an aggressive campaign to increase market share.  He has led the way for High Street retailers in adapting to the rise of internet retailing and nurtured a very successful home delivery service.  More recently he has pioneered the notion of cross-channel retailing with the introduction of Tesco apps for the iPhone and Android mobile phones allowing customers to scan barcodes of items to add to a shopping list which they can then either refer to in store or order for delivery.  John Lewis Partnership was a very deserving winner of The Oracle Retailer of the Year award for their overall dedication to excellent retailing practices.  The business was also named the American Express Marketing/Advertising Campaign of the Year award for their memorable 'Never Knowingly Undersold' advert series, which included a very successful viral video and radio campaign with Fyfe Dangerfield's cover of Billy Joel's 'She's Always a Woman' used for the adverts.  Store Design of the Year was another exciting category with Topshop taking the accolade for its flagship Oxford Street store in London, which combines boutique concession-style stalls with high fashion displays and exclusive collections from leading designers.  The store even has its own hairdressers and food hall, making it a truly all-inclusive fashion retail experience and a global landmark for any self-respecting international fashion shopper.   • How can I automate FTP downloads based on date without bi-directional syncing?

    I have a particular FTP-related situation that I'm having trouble finding a solution for. I need an FTP download/syncing application that can operate within the following parameters: It must run under Windows (installing Python to be able to run a script or some such thing is an acceptable solution). It must be able to ignore files before a certain date (I want to start downloading new files, not all the files that exist in this very large FTP directory). I don't want bi-directional syncing (e.g. I don't want changes I make to the local files and directory structure to change the remote FTP server, the FTP server needs to be left completely alone). Automating it in some fashion would be ideal. What would you guys suggest? The solutions I'm turning up are all missing the mark in some fashion (e.g. they have bi-directional syncing or they have no way of starting the syncing today instead of trying to pull down the entire directory).

  • How can I permanently fix my date synchronize problem in linux?

    Ubuntu 7.10 server i386 clock/date/time won't stay in sync. Are their log files I can view to tell when the clock changes? For a temporary fix, I created a file in /etc/cron.hourly: #!/bin/sh ntpdate time.nist.gov However, this still leaves a potential hour of unchecked time. Is there a cron.minutely? That would still leave a potential minute of unchecked time. I have read about CMOS battery problems, but what if this does not fix it? I'd like to be able to troubleshoot this as a completely software problem. My squid logs are showing dates back in 2005 when the clock changes, and my time-sensitive access controls are skewed and end up allowing users to surf prohibited websites during business hours.
