• In vim is there a way to delete without putting text in the register?

  Using vim I often want to replace a block of code with a block that I just yanked. But when I delete the block of code that is to be replaced, that block itself goes into the register which erases the block I just yanked. So I've got in the habit of yanking, then inserting, then deleting what I didn't want, but with large blocks of code this gets messy trying to keep the inserted block and the block to delete separate. So what is the slickest and quickest way to replace text in vim? is there a way to delete text without putting it into the register? is there a way to say e.g. "replace next word" or "replace up to next paragraph" or is the best way to somehow use the multi-register feature?

• In ASP.NET, Can I Delete a row in GridView while the primary key of that table is not loaded into the gridview?

  Hi, I have a table with primary key whose importance is technically high and none business wise. So, when I display the table data to user, I would like not to show him the primary key. Even if I load it in sqldatasource and dont show (I did this by removing the cloumn in "Columns" tag of GridView), I am not able to update or delete row using the built-in UpdateCommand & DeleteCommand. I have created the delete paramters but it does nothing when I hit the delete button. How to get around it? Thanks R S Reddy

  I have an ASP.NET 2.0 ListView control (aka:parent) and configured inside this ListView I have another ListView (aka:child). For each row the parent has there is potentially a child ListView control which can have 1-3 rows. Each row has two checkboxes (a select checkbox and a deny checkbox). I need to process these checkboxes in JavaScript so that if one select is chosen on any of the rows all other select checkboxes are unchecked AND the deny checkbox for that row only is unchecked. The rows which were NOT selected CAN have the deny checkboxes checked. What is the best approach to this?

  I am using the FileVersionInfo to retrieve the version of a .Net assembly. Then, I want to immediately delete the file. Unfortunately after I call GetVersionInfo, any attempt to delete the file results in an error “…in use by another process…” Is there another technique to determine the version that does not lock the file? Or, is it possible to ensure the lock is released after calling GetVersionInfo?   Hi guys, I've bound a datagridview to a collection of objects. It's giving me a null reference exception when I try to add a new row to a collection (empty or otherwise) using the gui. More specifically, when there is a write event it does this. How can I override the behavior of the write event and manually add all of the columns contents to the object collection? I could disable the add new row feature and make an add button, but the built in datagridview row add looks so much more slick.

  Hi, I have a csv importing system on my app (used locally only) which parses the csv file line by line and adds the data to the database table. There is a relationship that courses HABTM years and years HABTM courses. In the csv file (effectively in row[5] to row[8]) are the year_id s. Is there a way that I can add this within the method above. I am confused as to how to loop over the 4 items and add them to the courses_years table. Thank you Jack

  I have written a network server class that maintains a std::set of network clients. The network clients emit a signal to the network server on disconnect (via boost::bind). When a network client disconnects, the client instance needs to be removed from the Set and eventually deleted. I would think this is a common pattern, but I am having problems that might, or might not, be specific to ASIO. It doesn't seem to really matter though. I believe this question is not specific to ASIO, but the problem manifests in a peculiar way when using ASIO. I have one thread executing io_service.run(). All ASIO read/write operations are performed asynchronously. Everything works fine with multiple clients connecting/disconnecting UNLESS I delete my client object from the Set per the code above. If I delete my client object, the io_service seemingly deadlocks internally and no further asynchronous operations are performed unless I start another thread. I have try/catches around the io_service.run() call and have not been able to detect any errors. Questions: Are there best practices for deleting child objects, that are also signal emitters, from within parent slots? Any ideas as to why the io_service is hanging when I delete my network client object?

• WPF - How do I style a row based on a binding property value?

  Hey! So I am trying to bind a collection of objects (IList<) to a WPF datagrid. I would like to make the row background a different color if the 'artist' property is null or empty. I am checking the value stored at the property on the LoadingRow datagrid event. Currently my implementation seems to style all of the rows with an empty or null 'artist' property correctly. The problem is that is also styles the rows where the property is not null or empty in some cases. So some rows are given the red background even though the rows 'artist' property is not null. Can anyone tell me why this could be?? • CF - DataGrid onClick event (or similar) for the cell / row ?

  I want to use DataGrid. I parse the data from an XML. In the XML for each row i have a tag that holds a specific command. I want that the user can click on any cell of the row (or a specific one), and i need to catch the click event execute the command and redirect to another form... I can do this with custom control made of panels and buttons and such ... but can u use DataGrid to achieve this? Also i tested Datagrid and i noticed that on some emulators (like 6.5 VGA) clicking the cells dont work. I can click the first cell in a row, but i cannot click the second... third... etc. Any suggestions?

  I'm transferring my access logs into a database. I've got two tables: urlRequests id : int(10) host : varchar(100) path: varchar(300) unique index (host, path) urlAccesses id : int(10) request : int(10) <-- reference to urlRequests row ip : int(4) query : varchar(300) time : timestamp I need to insert a row into urlAccesses for every page load, but first a row in urlRequests has to exist with the requested host and path so that urlAccesses's row can reference it. I know I can do it this way: A. check if a row exists in urlRequests B. insert a row in urlRequests if it needs it C. insert a row into urlAccesses with the urlRequests's row id referenced That's three queries for every page load if the urlRequests row doesn't exist. I'm very new to MySQL, so I'm guessing that there's a way to go about this that would be faster and use less queries.

• How to merge existing row with new data in SQLite?

  I have a database full of simple note data, with columns for title, due date, priority, and details. There is also a _id column PRIMARY KEY int. Say I have a note in the table already with some data filled and the rest null. I also have a set of data that will fill all those fields. Is there a way that I can only write data to the fields that are NULL? I can't overwrite existing data, but I'd like to add data to NULL columns. I know the rowId of the target row. If my target row had rowId of 5, I could do something like this: UPDATE SET duedate='some date', priority='2', details='some text' WHERE _id=5 But that would overwrite all the data in that row, and I don't want to lose any data that might be there. How can I change this statement to avoid writing to non-null fields?

  I am binding a List to a UI Control. My list does not contain a blank row, but I need to add one to allow the user to select blank. However, I'm using the same list in other parts of the application (users can edit/add/delete items) where it doesn't make sense to show a blank row. My idea is to create a wrapper around the list which adds a blank row just for the UI. The wrapper would hold a reference so that updates to the list (from other parts of the app) would be reflected in UI without any extra work. I have tried a few different ways, but nothing has worked out for me yet. Can anyone solve this problem?

Now, I have another table that has bunch of information related to different keywords, this table has a row called (keywords) which indicates if this information is suitable for which keyword. How do I render for the user the information he needs depending on the keywords.
