  • OS X Apache giving 503 error for anything in /api directory

    I have a locally hosted website that uses Smarty templates, I'm trying to get started on building an API for the site. I've used virtualhost.sh to create a local virtual host for this and other sites. I've discovered that if I put a directory called api at the root of any of these virtual hosts I will get a 503 error when I try to access anything inside. I am using mod-rewrite but so far only to append a .php extension when needed. Here are the error logs for a request: [Thu Feb 09 13:42:37 2012] [error] proxy: HTTP: disabled connection for (localhost) [Thu Feb 09 13:49:06 2012] [error] (61)Connection refused: proxy: HTTP: attempt to connect to [fe80::1]:8080 (localhost) failed [Thu Feb 09 13:49:06 2012] [error] ap_proxy_connect_backend disabling worker for (localhost) The middle line gave me a clue to look in my hosts file because why would a request go to [fe80::1]:8080? I commented out that line and tried again, this time the error was in connecting to the standard 127.0.0.1 localhost. I have concluded that perhaps there is some config file somewhere picking up the underlying request of localhost/api and pointing it somewhere other than my virtual host. At this point my ability to fix the problem fails me. Can anyone help?

  • SQL Server Backup problem when browsing to the directory

    I want to allow a group (eg. 'BackupManagers') who can only preform backup and restore operations on certain databases. When creating the BackupManagers user account I checked db_backupoperator. When the user logs in to create a backup they get an error message similar to the following when the select Tasks - Backup - Click on Add in the destiantion block - click on the "..." button to browse TITLE: Locate Database Files - MYSERVER\SQL2005 E:\MSSQL\Backup Cannot access the specified path or file on the server. Verify that you have the necessary security privileges and that the path or file exists. If you know that the service account can access a specific file, type in the full path for the file in the File Name control in the Locate dialog box. I have confirmed that the user has permissions to the folder. I have even created a share to this folder and had them access it through explorer. They are able to create and delete files within the folder. I have found that if they type in the path to the file instead of using the "..." button to browse the directory tree then they can create a backup file fine. Why is the browse button not working as expected? Thanks!

    Fresh install of CentOS 5.4 Downloaded the following: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin-1.510.tar.gz MD5 sum is correct (cdcc09d71d85d81914a90413eaf21d3f). The file is located here: /tmp/webmin-1.510.tar.gz tmp and webmin-1.510.tar.gz both have chmod 777. I am logged in as root. Command: tar -zxfv webmin-1.510.tar Result: tar: v: Cannot open: No such file or directory tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now tar: Child returned status 2 tar: webmin-1.510.tar: Not found in archive tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors Never run across this before. It's like it thinks that v is a file I want to extract, but its one of the command arguments... If I leave out the v... tar -zxf webmin-1.510.tar.gz The command stalls. It doesn't do anything. Just goes to the next line and no prompt comes up. I have to CTRL-C to get back to the prompt and a ls verifies that it didn't extract anything... My first reaction is that its not a valid tar/gz file or something. But the MD5 matches just fine. So I'm at a loss just a bit...

  • Not able to find scripts present in /etc/profile.d directory [on hold]

    I am using Red Hat Linux 6.0 ... using davinchi board. I have to change system clock resolution so I am changing (HZ) env var. For this I have written script so that I can change HZ = 1000 n insert that script in /etc/profile.d and write code for loop in /etc/profile so that while running as usual /etc/profile can load the scripts present in /etc/profile.d. But when I am logging into the system at root level then showing error as "-bash: ./etc/profile.d/resolution.sh(my script name): No such file or directory Also here why it is showing ./etc and not /etc . Is something related to that?? Also I tried to add script in /etc/init.d but still no change in value of HZ takes place. Please tell where to change so that this env var can get changed.     I am attempting to setup Multicraft on my server, all is running smoothly however the FTP won't allow anyone to connect from a remote FTP client, where net2ftp will work smoothly from a remote location.     I am running a Symphony installation out of the directory symphony but I want to remove that word from the URL in specific cases. When a user visits http://domain.com/demo It should go to http://domain.com/symphony/demo because I've added a specific rule for demo. If I haven't added a specific rule for demo in the .htaccess, then it should resolve to http://domain.com/demo as typed.   • xauth, ssh and missing home directory

    We have several servers, and normaly everything works fine, except now... we get a new aircondition installed. This takes 36 hours and for this time almost all servers got shutdown, only 2 remaining servers run for the most important tasks (i.e. accepting incoming email, delivering some important websites, login-server). Everybody was informed that when they need appropiate data from the homedirs they should fetch it before take down. Long story short: Someone realized that he have run a certain program on one of the servers. No Problem, he can remote login into our login server and run the programm there without home directory (binaries are local and necessary information can be copied to the /tmp). That works like a charm until... ... the user needs to run a GUI programm. I find no easy way to make it running, usually ssh -Y honk@loginserver is enough but now the homedirectory is missing and ssh is not able to copy the cookies into ~/.Xauthority (as the file server with the home directories is down). Paranoid as all systemadmins all X-Server just listen locally not on tcp ports, so no remote X connection possible SSH config is waterproof - i.e. no way to set environment variables. My Problem is, that the generated proxy MIT cookie from ssh get lost as the .Xauthority doesnt exist. If I could retrieve it somehow I could reenter it a .Xauthority in /tmp. The only other option (besides changing the config) which came to my mind is, makeing a tunnel (netcat, or better ssh) from the remote host to the loginserver and copy the cookie manually (not sure if it the tcp-unix domain socket stuff works as expected). Any good suggestions (for the future - now our servers are already up)?

  • SharePoint, Exchange and Incoming Emails Without Directory Management Services

    Trying to keep this as simple as possible. We've already created the email accounts that we need (e.g. account[1-20]@domain.com) on Exchange/AD. We'd like to now enable incoming emails on SharePoint 2007 lists corresponding to these accounts. My thinking is we don’t need to configure Directory Management Services [2] – the architecture will be simpler without it and the application doesn’t require these services. However, we still need to route messages from Exchange to either local SMTP services (via the connector described in the articles below) or by user-specific drop-folder settings (if permitted by Exchange). So the question is: can we instruct Exchange to use a drop folder just for accounts account[1-20]@domain.com? or do we need to change the accounts to account[1-20]@sharepointsmtp.domain.com and re-route those message to the local SMTP service that will drop them on disk?   • Win7 System folder contains infinitely looping SYSTEM(!) directory

    My Windows 7 Enterprise computer has been crashing fairly frequently recently, so I decided to boot up in safe mode and run the TrendMicro client I have installed. It froze about 10 minutes into the full system scan, so in the spirit of http://whathaveyoutried.com, I started scanning each folder individually. When I got to ProgramData, the AV failed with an uncaught exception. I then went down a level and tried scanning Application Data, which failed as well. Imagine my surprise when I open the folder just to see the same folder again! As far as I can tell, this folder loop continues indefinitely. (If you are trying to recreate this, keep in mind that ProgramData is a hidden folder.) I'm actually a bit concerned that these are system folders, as this is a brand-new computer with a clean installation. I guess I have three questions: Has anyone else seen/experienced this before? I'm running Win7 SP1. How do I fix this? I've run CHKDSK \F with no success (although it was incredibly slow). What are the ramifications of an infinitely recursive directory? Theoretically speaking, each link takes up memory, so shouldn't I have no space available on my hard drive? (I've got about 180GB left.) I noticed that the tree view on the left only shows the "linked folder" icon on the deeper folders--does this mean anything special? (I've circled the icons or lack thereof in red.) How can the OS even resolve this aberration? And above all, what would happen if I were to select "Expand all folders"??? :P Matt

    I have a backend server running on http://10.0.2.20/ from the local network, which serves similar to this: / (root) | |_user1/ | |_www/ | |_private/ | |_user2/ |_www/ |_private/ (etc.) Accessing http://10.0.2.20/user1/ of course, contains 'www' and 'private' folders and is proxied through a public server using Apache's Reverse Proxy. I'd like it so the following happens: http://public-proxy-server/user1/ actually shows the content from http://10.0.2.20/user1/www/ without indicating it in the URL. (/private/ would not be accessible via the public proxy server). The key here, is for it to be dynamic, so all requests to http://public-proxy-server/*/should show content from http://10.0.2.20/*/www/.   • mod rewrite works fine apart from for missing directory index files

    I have a legacy web site hosted on Apache. It has a number of web pages sitting in the public web root and its subfolders. publicDocs/ directorywith_no_defaultfile/ some-legacy-flat-page.htm .htaccess index.php some-legacy-flat-page.htm I would like to start using Zend MVC for some of the newer pages. I have got a .htaccess mod rewrite rule working so that any request for a non-existent file is sent to be handled by the MVC bootstrap file (/index.php). With my current set-up, the following types of requests are routed to '/index.php', the MVC bootstrap: /index.php /blah /directorywith_no_defaultfile/bloo The following types of request are served by old legacy (flat) pages /some-legacy-flat-page.htm /directorywith_no_defaultfile/some-legacy-flat-page.htm But, when I a request a non-existent file that is a directory like these: /directorywith_no_defaultfile or /directorywith_no_defaultfile/ I get an error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /directorywith_no_defaultfile/ on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. I suspect this may have something to do with the way Apache handles default files. Do you know which Apache directives could be causing this?

  • apt-mirror does not mirror the i18n directory

    I need to setup a local Ubuntu mirror so the whole network doesn't need to hit remote servers in order to update and install new packages. Following a brief tutorial found here, I managed to get a server up and running that correctly mirrors packages from the main and restricted categories. However, when I call apt-get update on a client, I get a couple of errors such as : Ign http://192.168.1.18 karmic/main Translation-fr Ign http://192.168.1.18 karmic/restricted Translation-fr Checking back on the server, I see that apt-mirror only took the binary-amd64 directory of the mirror, and didn't take i18n that would provide Translation-fr. The manpage for apt-mirror doesn't say anything about i18n, and Google is of no help either. How do I properly mirror i18n?     I am running Samba on a CentOS server, and I am experiencing a problem where it allows me to connect to the server and see a share, but shows the share as an empty directory. I find this behavior strange. The behavior is present with the firewall on and with the firewall off, so it's not that. Neither /var/log/messages nor /var/log/secure have any complaints about Samba. I doubt that SELinux is a problem: just in case, here are the relevant settings.   • Configure Apache + Passenger to serve static files from different directory

    I'm trying to setup Apache and Passenger to serve a Rails app. However, I also need it to serve static files from a directory other than /public and give precedence to these static files over anything in the Rails app. The Rails app is in /home/user/apps/testapp and the static files in /home/user/public_html. For various reasons the static files cannot simply be moved to the Rails public folder. Also note that the root http://domain.com/ should be served by the index.html file in the public_html folder. Here is the config I'm using: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName domain.com DocumentRoot /home/user/apps/testapp/public RewriteEngine On RewriteCond /home/user/public_html/%{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f RewriteCond /home/user/public_html/%{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ /home/user/public_html/$1 [L] </VirtualHost> This serves the Rails application fine but gives 404 for any static content from public_html. I have also tried a configuration that uses DocumentRoot /home/user/public_html but this doesn't serve the Rails app at all, presumably because Passenger doesn't know to process the request. Interestingly, if I change the conditions to !-f and !-d and the rewrite rule to redirecto to another domain, it works as expected (e.g. http://domain.com/doesnt_exist gets redirected to http://otherdomain.com/doesnt_exist) How can I configure Apache to serve static files like this, but allow all other requests to continue to Passenger?

    I've tried to find a solution to this and found some guides out there but none seem to work. I have the following URL - http://www.mysite.com/aboutus.html However there are some other sites which link to my old hosted site and point to http://www.mysite.com/nw/aboutus.html. My issue here is trying to remove the 'nw' directory from the URL's.   • Data recovery from corrupt Ubuntu partition/directory (question about a previous answer)

    I have an Ubuntu installation that won't boot anymore. I asked my previous question about it here: http://superuser.com/questions/15916/ubuntu-chkdsk-equivalent Bolotov replied: As I see from your previous question you can boot Windows so you could use dskprobe from Windows XP Service Pack 2 Support Tools to make sure that fs type is correct ... but it's already correct fs type 7 is NTFS. Message "The type of the filesystem is RAW. CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives." means that windows can't determine fs type for some reason. As we see fs type is correct. To run Chkdsk on your Windows partition you can install Windows Recovery Console, boot in recovery console and check your disk. After checking the disk you will gain access to you c:\ubuntu\disks. I think you can mount your linux partition (which is in file) as usual loop-back device: mount -o loop [path to your linux-loopback-partition] But you should mount windows patrition first. So now I'd like to know: Within the recovery console I will be issuing the commands "chkdsk -r" and then "mount -o loop [path to windows partition]" and then "mount -o loop c:\ubuntu\disks", correct? I do have a ("corrupt and unreadable") c:\ubuntu\disks directory so that appears to be the correct path to the linux partition; do you know the path to the windows partition? would that be just "c:\"?

  • Simple Distributed Disconnected way to sync a directory

    I want to start regularly backup my home directory on my ubuntu laptop, machine X. Suppose I have access to 2 different remote (linux) servers that I can backup to, machines A & B. Machine X will be the master, and should be synced to A and B. I could just regularly run rsync from X to A and then from X to B. That's all I need. However I'm curious if there's a more bandwidth effecient, and hence faster way to do it. Assuming X is going to be on residential style broadband lines, and since I don't want to soak up the bandwidth, I would limit the transfer from X. A and B will be on all the time, however X, will not be, so I'd also like to reduce the amount of time that X is transfering, potentially allowing A and B to spend more time transfering. Also, X won't be connected all the time. What's the best way to do this? rsync from X to A, then from A to B? Timing that right could be troublesome. I don't want to keep old files around, so if I was to rsync, then the --del option would be used. Could that mean something might get tranfered from A to B, then deleted from B, then transfered from A to B again? That's suboptimal. I know there are fancy distributed filesystems like gluster, but I think that's overkill in this case, and might not fit with the disconnected nature.

    Need some help here with NFS. Here's what I have (all servers running CentOS 5.6 with SELinux): 172.17.20.1 - Primary server with static IP. Varnish redirects requests to the web servers. 172.17.20.2 - Web server 1 172.17.20.3 - Web server 2 The application residing on the web servers is running Drupal and I need both of them to share the same files directory. I have created a folder in 172.17.20.1 called /var/nfs with root user. Here is my /etc/exports content: /var/nfs 172.17.20.2(rw,sync,no_root_squash) 172.17.20.3(rw,sync,no_root_squash) On both the web servers (172.17.20.2/3), I have it mounted like below: [root@web2 ~]# mount ... 172.17.20.1:/var/nfs on /mnt/nfs/var/nfs type nfs (rw,sync,hard,intr,addr=172.17.20.1) On all the servers, I've added the user apache to the root group to get the desired write access: [root@main ~]# cat /etc/group root:x:0:root,apache .... .... apache:x:48: [root@web1 ~]# cat /etc/group root:x:0:root,apache .... .... apache:x:48: Despite all this, when I try to write files into the /mnt/nfs/var/nfs folder from Drupal/PHP, it cannot write to it. I even tried with a simple PHP upload script but it doesn't work, so the problem is not with Drupal. Any help you guys can do is much appreciated. I've spent hours and hours with it, without any success :( Thanks in advance.

    First, I can't believe that that isn't the default behavior. Second, yikes! I don't know how long my code's been hanging out there, with all sort of cool secret stuff, just waiting for some hacker who knows Apache better than I do. EDIT (and apology) Well, this is sort of embarrassing. Here's what happened: We had some Python scripts available to the web, at /aux/file.py, which were not surprisingly at /var/www/http/aux . Separately, we were running an app server and Apache proxies through at /servlets/. A contractor had constructed the WAR file by bundling up all the generated files including the Python files (which are in a directory also called aux, not surprisingly), so if you typed in /servlets/aux/file.py, the web-server would ask the app-server for it and the app-server would just supply the file. It was the latter URL that this morning I happened to type in by accident and lo, the source appeared. Until I realized the shear unlikelihood of what I had done, the situation was rating about 8.3 on the sphincter scale. After a tense half-hour or so I realized that it had nothing to do with the CGI (and that serving files that were also executable would be not only foolish but also impossible), and was able to address the real problems. So -- sorry, everybody. Let the scorn-fest commence.

    howdy using vs2008 C# Does anyone know how change the directory location that auto recover files are saved to in visual studio sp1. The specific directory it should be on my C# drive in my documents is always empty even when the feature is turned on. There where some changes to our network env and it seems my auto recover files are now being mapped to network drive and i need to change it back. I cant find anything on how to do this on net searches if anyone can help please. thanks for any help
