  • Is ctrl-s save universal for save or are there different combinations for different languages

    I imagine that there are different combination, just looking for an affirmation. Or, are we developers really that english-centric? If I were in japan, using a word processor on some computer, would ctrl-s save? Are there keyboards where ctrl-s doesn't even exist (non-english keyboards)? Most of what I've seen usually has latin + [insert language here] characters, usually overridden on the normal qwerty keyboard.

    Hi I have some controls on an asp.net modal which I show manually via code behind. Now I am trying to attach a selector on one of the controls inside pageLoad(), problem being is that the modal container is initially set to visible=false. I tried checking for length but it still throws exception if ($('#<%= myControl.ClientId %>').length > 0) { $('#<%= myControl.ClientID %>').click(function() { // Do work }); } Compiler Error Message: CS0103: The name 'myControl' does not exist in the current context

  • Is there a command to test an SQL query without executing it? ( MySQL or ANSI SQL )

    Is there anything like this: TEST DELETE FROM user WHERE somekey = 45; That can return any errors, for example that somekey doesn't exist, or some constraint violation or anything, and reporting how many rows would be affected, but not executing the query? I know you can easily turn any query in a select query that has no write or delete effect in any row, but that can lead to errors and it's not very practical if you want to test and debug many queries.

  • How to make OSX application that just runs opens some file type and runs arbitrary Ruby code?

    It's trivial to make a program executable from shell - just put #!/usr/bin/ruby on top, chmod +x it and done. Unfortunately OSX won't let me associate file type with such scripts - it requires its .apps instead. This sort of distinction doesn't seem to exist on other operating systems. What's the simplest way of making such .app, which would merely execute some arbitrary Ruby code?

The window should have a Cancel and a Save functionality implemented with buttons. While the Save functionality is straightforward (just close the window) I don't know how to implement the Cancel functionality. Does exist an "undo" function? Does anyone know how?

    I am trying to set up ANT build. However when I invoke build command helloworld_15/${NAME} does not exist. BUILD FAILED (total time: 0 seconds) Also the configure variables does not seems to be assigned. However i have set them into /etc/envitonment I tried echo $<varaiable_name> and value get displayed. Tried to google but not solutions seems am the first one having this issue. PS: OS Ubuntu 10.10

Here's the Java implementation I would use: java.util.random source Whilst this would be fairly straightforward to port to C and PHP, there is potentially a lot of work to get all the edge cases correct and handle differences in number representation. I'd be extremely happy to just copy and paste a fully tested version should it exist.

    Actually i' am using MyTimeStampField-TRUNC(MyTimeStampField) to extract the time part from an timestamp column in Oracle. SELECT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP-TRUNC(CURRENT_TIMESTAMP) FROM DUAL this return +00 13:12:07.100729 this work ok for me, to extract the time part from an timestamp field, but i' m wondering if exist a better way (may be using an built-in function of ORACLE) to do this?   • How Do I Setup the Notepad++ Run Command for Ruby?

    I'm trying to setup the Notepad++ IDE so that when I press F6 the Ruby script I'm editing will run. After searching the internet I've found that putting [cmd /K ruby "$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)"] without the brackets into the run dialogue box that pops up when I press F5 will run basic scripts in the Command Prompt (I'm using Windows 7). However, if my code loads any external data such as .txt files, or as I've found with Gosu, loads any image files, Ruby complains that things do not exist which do in fact exist. I know my code and Ruby installation (Ruby 1.9.3) are fine because prior to now I've been using FreeRIDE, an older, somewhat buggy IDE that I've grown tired of, and my code runs fine when I press F5 using that IDE.     Hi, I have following case: I want to use uncompressed js/css files during development (to debug js for example) but on production I want to switch automatically to minified versions of that files. some simple solution is to put in your template: <script src="some_js.{% if not debug %}min.{% endif %}js".... but this require manully providing that such file exist and to do minifaction manullay after original file change. How do you accomplish this in your projects? Is there any tool for this?
