It needs to store a few GB of data and SQL Azure is too expensive for me, so I'll use Azure tables in the cloud version. Can you recommend a storage solution, which will run on standalone servers and have an API and behavior similar to Azure tables? From what I've seen Server AppFabric does not include Tables. TIA

    I am trying to compile a library originally written for Cocoa. Things are good until it looks for the function marg_setValue(). It says there is a syntax error before char in marg_setValue(argumentList,argumentOffset,char,(char)lua_toboolean(state,luaArgument)); (it's talking about the third argument, not (char) ) I am trying to port LuaObjectiveCBridge to the iPhone. It has two choices, either using Runtime or Foundation. I have discovered there are some problems with foundation so I am trying runtime. But the compiler is not co-operating.

  • Should I use IDisposable for purely managed resources?

    Here is the scenario: I have an object called a Transaction that needs to make sure that only one entity has permission to edit it at any given time. In order to facilitate a long-lived lock, I have the class generating a token object that can be used to make the edits. You would use it like this: var transaction = new Transaction(); using (var tlock = transaction.Lock()) { transaction.Update(data, tlock); } Now, I want the TransactionLock class to implement IDisposable so that its usage can be clear. But, I don't have any unmanaged resources to dispose. however, the TransctionLock object itself is a sort of "unmanaged resource" in the sense that the CLR doesn't know how to properly finalize it. All of this would be fine and dandy, I would just use IDisposable and be done with it. However, my issue comes when I try to do this in the finalizer: ~TransactionLock() { this.Dispose(false); } I want the finalizer to release the transaction from the lock, if possible. How, in the finalizer, do I detect if the parent transaction (this.transaction) has already been finalized? Is there a better pattern I should be using?     I already have an express checkout integrated with my Codeigniter application. Now I want to integrate seamless paypal where I collect the CC information and pass it to Paypal (via backend) and once everything is approved, my application shows that to the user. All this with out ever going to Paypal's website. I know that Paypal gives a bunch of sample code but they have so many different products that advertise to do the same thing. Is there any wrapper library in PHP that I can use for handling all this? What sort of design decision is involved in migrating to such system? Would I need SSL certificates for this?

  • Ignoring unclosed tags from another <div>?

    I have a website where members can input text using a limited subset of HTML. When a page is displayed that contains a user's text, if they have any unclosed tags, the formatting "bleeds" across into the next area. For example, if the user entered: Hi, my name is <b>John Then, the rest of the page will be bold. Ideally, there'd be someting I could do that would be this simple: <div contained>Hi, my name is <b>John</div> And no tags could bleed out of that div. Assuming there isn't anything this simple, how would I accomplish a similar effect? Or, is there something this easy? Importantly, I do not want to validate the user's input and return an error if they have unclosed tags, since I want to provide the "easiest" user interface possible for my users. Thanks!

  • Lamda expression will not compile

    I am very confused I have this lamba expression tvPatientPrecriptionsEntities.Sort((p1, p2) => p1.MedicationStartDate.Value.CompareTo(p2.MedicationStartDate.Value)); Visual studio will not compile it and complains about syntax. I converted the lamba expression to an anonymous delegate as so tvPatientPrecriptionsEntities.Sort( delegate(PatientPrecriptionsEntity p1, PatientPrecriptionsEntity p2) { return p1.MedicationStartDate.Value.CompareTo(p2.MedicationStartDate.Value); } ); and it works fine. The project is uses the .net 3.5 framework and I have a reference to system.linq.

  • AssemblyResolve event is not firing during compilation of a dynamic assembly for an aspx page.

    This one is really pissing me off. Here goes: My goal is to load assemblies at run-time that contain embedded aspx,ascx etc. What I would also like is to not lock the assembly file on disk so I can update it at run-time without having to restart the application (I know this will leave the previous version(s) loaded). To that end I have written a virtual path provider that does the trick. I have subscribed to the CurrentDomain.AssemblyResolve event so as to redirect the framework to my assemblies. The problem is that the when the framework tries to compile the dynamic assembly for the aspx page I get the following: Compiler Error Message: CS0400: The type or namespace name 'Pages' could not be found in the global namespace (are you missing an assembly reference?) Source Error: public class app_resource_pages__version_1_0_0_0__culture_neutral__publickeytoken_null_default_aspx : global::Pages._Default, System.Web.SessionState.IRequiresSessionState, System.Web.IHttpHandle I noticed that if I load the assembly with Assembly.Load(AssemblyName) or Assembly.LoadFrom(filename) I dont get the above error. If I load it with Assembly.Load(byte[]) (so as to not lock it), the exception is thrown but my AssemblyResolve handler, when called is returning the assembly correctly (it is called once). So I am guessing that it is called once when the framework parses the asp markup but not when it tries to create the dynamic assembly for the aspx page.

    Let's say I want to make a simple project tracking system. A manager can create a project. Then he can create tasks for that project. Team members can record the hours they work for each task or for the project as a whole. Is the following design for the t_timesheet table a good idea? timesheet_id - primary key, autoincrement project_id - not null, foreign key constraint to t_project task_id - nullable, foreign key constraint to t_task user_id - not null, foreign key constraint to t_user hours - decimal Or should I do something like this: timesheet_id - primary key, autoincrement task_id - not null, foreign key constraint to t_task user_id - not null, foreign key constraint to t_user hours - decimal In the second option, I intend to always have a record in t_task labelled "miscellaneous items" with a foreign key to the relevant t_project record. Then I'll be able to track all hours for a project that aren't for any particular task. Are any of the ideas above good? What would be better?

    I'm receiving XML sent via POST. Naturally I need to parse this XML to get at the goodies it holds for me. However, when I receive the XML is seems that PHP is parsing it like a query string. For example, this xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <ForgotPassword> <version>1.0</version> <authentication> <login>myresllerid</login> <apikey>1234567890abcdef</apikey> </authentication> <parameters> <emailAddress>[email protected]</emailAddress> </parameters> </ForgotPassword> Becomes this (from print_r($_REQUEST)): Array ( [ <?xml_version] => "1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <IDCForgotPassword> <version>1.0</version> <authentication> <login>myresllerid</login> <apikey>1234567890abcdef</apikey> </authentication> <parameters> <emailAddress>[email protected]</emailAddress> </parameters> </IDCForgotPassword> ) You can see the XML is being broken up at the first equals sign (=) in the XML into a key/value pair. How do I avoid this?

  • DNS resolve without depending on router for asterisk system

    Hello, Basically I have a Debian box running asterisk assigned an IP via DHCP with host-name XXX. My windows browser can resolve the host-name but if I use host-name in X-Lite or my SPA922 phone it fails to resolve. Is there any way of getting this to work without depending on the router or assigning a static IP (request is to make it portable). I was thinking zero-conf but am unsure (box has limited HDD too). Any help is most appreciated.

I get this runtime error message: java.util.EnumSet.EnumSetImpl is not default instantiable (it must have a zero-argument constructor or no constructors at all) and has no custom serializer.   • Replicating iPhone Calendar View Lame?

    I am building an iPhone app that will need to display info primarily in a calendar view. Users will need to be able to search for entries and view them by day, month or in a list view. It seems like the built-in calendar type interface is ideal for my app. So I could build a similar calendar with 3 buttons at the bottom for list/day/month view as well as a button for today, in short a very similar interface to the built in iPhone calendar with different colors primarily. However, if I replicate it am I a) a lame copycat for replicating the built-in interface or smart for using a well-known iPhone metaphor and b) in danger of having my app rejected?

    I have made an AIR 2.0 app that uses NativeProcess so it needs to be packaged as a native installer (.exe) rather than a .air file. I first tried using Package Assistant but I kept getting an error telling me it cannot load keystore file. so I tried using the command line I use: pathToAirSDK>adt -args but I get an error telling me that "adt" is not a known command so I try: pathToAirSDK>adt.jar -args but I get a pop up telling me windows does not know how to open adt.jar files. Has anyone packaged a native installer for an AIR 2.0 app? How did you do it? edit forgot to mention I am doing this in windows using the windows command line.

To keep things simple, the third quarter of 1995 (date my observations start) should be quarter -2, the fourth quarter of 1995 should be -1 etc etc uptill 2006 (should be somewhere around 45 by then). My dates are in date9 format, such as 20JUN04 etc.. Anyone who can help me with the commands I need t o let this work in SAS? Thanks

    Here is some example data: data = data.frame(series = c("1a", "1b", "1e"), reading = c(0.1, 0.4, 0.6)) > data series reading 1 1a 0.1 2 1b 0.4 3 1e 0.6 Which I can pull out selective single rows using subset: > subset (data, series == "1a") series reading 1 1a 0.1 And pull out multiple rows using a logical OR > subset (data, series == "1a" | series == "1e") series reading 1 1a 0.1 3 1e 0.6 But if I have a long list of series expressions, this gets really annoying to input, so I'd prefer to define them in a better way, something like this: series_you_want = c("1a", "1e") (although even this sucks a little) and be able to do something like this, subset (data, series == series_you_want) The above obviously fails, I'm just not sure what the best way to do this is?
