  • Syntax highlighting on iPhone Text-Editor

    Hi, I want to write a simple text editor for iPhone with syntax highlighting support for c,c++. But the problem is, I dont't know how to do this. The first solution I was thinking about, was to go over the text and highlight keywords when the value of the UITextView has changed, but I think that if I got more than 1000lines of code that doesn't work very well.   • Eclipse/CDT editor not picking up project-defined symbols in coloring ifdef'ed out sections

    The problem I'm seeing is that under preferences, C/C++ Defined symbols for different Configurations/targets aren't showing up in the code coloring. When I change the active build configuration in the project menu, I would expect the editor & code coloring to pick up the symbols from the project settings, but it only seems to be picking up the symbols for one of the targets. Is there any way to have the code coloring for ifdef'ed code follow the active build configuration?

  • vs2008 resource editor changes rc file language

    Hi all, I am doing some improvements to an application in vs2008 in c++. When i try to edit resources (for example add an entry in the string table), the vs2008 editor changes the rc file language from LANG_ENGLISH to LANG_NEUTRAL and a non english text is replaced with question marks. If i edit the rc file externally (in notepad), and then load it to the vs2008 it works fine. can anybody help me solve this? thanks Shimon

  • Web dev/programmer with 4.5 yrs experience. Better for career: self-study or master's degree? [closed]

    I'm a 28 year-old web developer/programmer with 4.5 years of experience, and I'm looking to jump-start my career. I'm trying to decide between self-study and a 1-year master's program in CS at a top school. I'm currently making 65K in a high cost-of-living area that is NOT a hot spot for technology firms. I code almost exclusively in Ruby/Rails, PHP/CodeIgniter, SQL, and JavaScript. I've slowly gained proficiency with Git. Roughly half the time I am architecting/coding, and half the time I am pounding out HTML/CSS for static brochureware sites. I'd like to make more more money while doing more challenging/interesting work, but I don't know where to start. I have an excellent academic record (math major with many CS credits, 3.9+ GPA), GRE scores, and recommendations, so I am confident that I could be admitted to a great CS master's program. On the other hand, there is the tuition and opportunity cost to consider. I feel like there are a number of practical languages/tools/skills worth knowing that I could teach myself - shell scripting, .NET, Python, Node.js, MongoDB, natural language processing techniques, etc. That said, it's one thing to read about a subject and another thing to have experience with it, which structured coursework provides. So, on to the concrete questions: What programming skills/knowledge should I develop to increase my earning potential and make me competitive for more interesting jobs? Will a master's degree in CS from a top school help me develop the above skills/knowledge, and if so, is it preferable to self-study (possibly for other reasons, e.g., the degree's value as a credential)?

  • Computer Science graduate. Master or full-time job? [closed]

    Possible Duplicate: Is a Master's worth it? I have just gotten my Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and I have to make choice. Whether to continue with my full-time job I just got or put the job slightly in the background and concentrate on getting a Master's degree. I am currently working as an embedded C developer in a small company. The cool thing is that, because the team is quite small, my engineering ideas really play a part in the final product. Not to mention that I get to work on very different areas of embedded programming: device drivers and development of a Real Time OS. I am very enthusiastic about my job and what I do. On the other hand, in my country there isn't really a master's degree that focuses on embedded development so my gain from getting this degree will mainly in the field of general computer science knowledge. That being said, is it worth giving up all my spare time which I now use to study different areas of embedded devices and work mainly to get a degree rather than pure knowledge and experience in the field I want to work in?

    We need to insert a web beacon (i know taboo) in to adobe PDFs to know when they are opened, as one of our clients is moving to a model of "giving" their documents away and following up repeat viewers for subscriptions. Its not enough to be able to provide a download, they want to attach the PDF to an email and "blast" to directed recipients (double-opt-in etc). Adding the javascript to the pdf is easy enough: (iText) and the "openAction" event. However the security box pops up and displays: "Security Warning" "Document is trying to connect to 'xxxx.yyy.com' if you trusty the site choose Allow. If do not trust the site choose Block" [help] [allow] [block] I don't think we need to completley overhaul the dialogue box, I just think we need to change the middle text to be more descriptive of why we are doing it. But it has lots of shortcomings, because it basically is what Notepad is for Windows users: Can't do multiple undo's Monochrome, text is black and background is white Can't see what character did you exactly paste from clipboard, and sometimes this lead to weirdness behaviour Don't see what line or column you are in the moment Lack of funcionality like exports to different formats, integration with source control, plugins, etc. I have to deal with this editor in my daily work, so I was wondering if there are any other tool. Do you know any replacement?

Ive done this: Dim head As New HeaderFooter(New Phrase("This is page: "), False) head.Border = Rectangle.NO_BORDER document.Header = head But VS2008 says that HeaderFooter it's not defined (line 1), and Footer it's not a member of "iTextSharp.text.document" (line 3). I've already included the imports at the begining of my code and i don't have any other problems with the iTextsharps (i mean that it is working apart of the header problem): Imports iTextSharp.text Imports iTextSharp.text.pdf Imports System.Data.SQLite Imports System.IO So please, can anyone explain to me how can i set a header for my pages?     I'm trying to learn how to customize a sharepoint site. I've seen a lot of examples and they all seem to have one thing in common, the navigation are all the same. Ie the left nav with the different pages and docs. top nav with mostly links to sub-sites or other sites. Does anyone know of a good tutorial or example i can grab that has a horizontal layout of the left nav? i haven't found any.

It works, but the margins seem much wider than when I view the same PDF using a Acrobat Reader or the Mac's Preview, and that consequently scales the content down much smaller than it otherwise would be. Is my code actually causing this behavior?   • SSRS: Master-detail report with two datasources

    I have two local data sources that I can push into the report. Works no problem. But how do I set up the report? One data source contains a list of employees, and info about them. The other contains a bunch of working hours for each employee. I would like to use a table for the list of employees, and then have another table for the working hours beneath each employee (with their working hours). Is this even possible? Do I have to use a Sub-Report? Would I have to merge them into one datasource? =/

    hi all, i am using zend_pdf to create pdf files for Ritgh to left language as arabic or east asia langauges i use of this code $pdfDoc = new Zend_Pdf(); $pdfPage = $pdfDoc->newPage(Zend_Pdf_Page::SIZE_A4); $font = Zend_Pdf_Font::fontWithPath(APPLICATION_PATH.'/Fonts/arial.ttf'); $pdfPage->setFont($font, 36); $pdfDoc->pages[] = $pdfPage; $unicodeString = '????'; $pdfPage->drawText($unicodeString, 72, 720, 'UTF-8'); $pdfDoc->save('utf8.pdf'); but there are two problem 1- how can i change document's direction to right to left ? 2- characters are separated one by one. but in some laguages characters of a word are joint together. any idea? or i may use tcpdf? thanks

  • Extracting information from PDFs of research papers

    I need a mechanism for extracting bibliographic metadata from PDF documents, to save people entering it by hand or cut-and-pasting it. At the very least, the title and abstract. The list of authors and their affiliations would be good. Extracting out the references would be amazing. Ideally this would be an open source solution. The problem is that not all PDF's encode the text, and many which do fail to preserve the logical order of the text, so just doing pdf2text gives you line 1 of column 1, line 1 of column 2, line 2 of column 1 etc. I know there's a lot of libraries. It's identifying the abstract, title authors etc. on the document that I need to solve. This is never going to be possible every time, but 80% would save a lot of human effort.

  • Combine master-detail databinding

    I have created data sources from my objects in my project, some of which have other objects as members. When I want to bind a some objects to a data grid I would like to display some of the values from the member objects in the data grid as well but the examples I have come across seem to use an entire other datagrid or controls to display these member object values. How can I combine these values into one data grid? (Preferably without creating a wrapping class) Can I achieve this with LINQ somehow? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks P.S. C# or VB examples will do.
