  • MySQL update with two subqueries

    - by Julian Cvetkov
I'm trying to update one column of MySQL table with subquery that returns a date, and another subquery for the WHERE clause. Here is it: UPDATE wtk_recur_subs_temp SET wtk_recur_date = (SELECT final_bb.date FROM final_bb, wtk_recur_subs WHERE final_bb.msisdn = wtk_recur_subs.wtk_recur_msisdn) WHERE wtk_recur_subs_temp.wtk_recur_msisdn IN (select final_bb.msisdn from final_bb) The response from the MySQL engine is "Subquery returns more than 1 row".

  • Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my create trigger syntax?

    - by Travis
I am experimenting with triggers for the first time. When I try to create a trigger using the following: CREATE TRIGGER t_foldersPrivate BEFORE DELETE ON foldersPrivate FOR EACH ROW BEGIN DELETE FROM programs WHERE folderType = '0' AND folderID = OLD.ID; END; I receive the following error: `1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 3` (mysql 5.1.37) If I get rid fo the delete statement the create trigger statement works fine. So I am assuming it must have something to do with that. But for the life of me I'm not sure what...

    - by sean riley
When using MySQL 5.1 Enterprise after years of using other database products like Sybase, Infomix, DB2; I run into things that MySQL just doesn't do. For example, it can only generate an EXPLAIN query plan for SELECT queries. What are the other things I should watch out for?

  • Faster way to dump mysql

    - by japancheese
This may be a dumb question, but I was just watching a screencast on MySQL replication, and I learned that a master database doesn't send SQL over to a slave for replication, it actually sends data over in binary, which makes importing extremely fast. I started wondering, "if a database can export and import binary, why do mysqldumps / imports take so long?" Is there a way to get mysql to dump a database in binary in a similar fashion to speed up that process as well?

  • 3-clique counting in a graph

    - by Legend
I am operating on a (not so) large graph having about 380K edges. I wrote a program to count the number of 3-cliques in the graph. A quick example: List of edges: A - B B - C C - A C - D List of cliques: A - B - C A 3-clique is nothing but a triangle in a graph. Currently, I am doing this using PHP+MySQL. As expected, it is not fast enough. Is there a way to do this in pure MySQL? (perhaps a way to insert all 3-cliques into a table?)
