    Hi, I'm building a download manager in python for fun, and sometimes the connection to the server is still on but the server doesn't send me data, so read method (of HTTPResponse) block me forever. This happens, for example, when I download from a server, which located outside of my country, that limit the bandwidth to other countries.     Hi All I would like to handle time series in python. I have been suggested to use scikit.timeseries but I need to handle up to microseconds and this last, as far as I know, handles up to milliseconds. Do you know any other library able to do that? At some point I need to merge 2 time series sampled at different time, and I would like to avoid rewriting such kind of features or any new classes from scratch whenever it is possible.     I am trying to retrieve a 500mb file using Python, and I have a script which uses urllib.urlretrieve(). There seems to some network problem between me and the download site, as this call consistently hangs and fails to complete. However, using wget to retrieve the file tends to work without problems. What is the difference between urlretrieve() and wget that could cause this difference?

    I'm using simple code: import urllib2 response = urllib2.urlopen("http://www.mysite.com/getfile/4355") output = open('myfile.zip','wb') output.write(response.read()) output.close() The web-server is IIS + ASP.NET MVC 4 It returns FileResult wrapping a zip-file with "application/octet-stream" content-type. The problem is that downloaded zip file is broken - only 4.1kB size, where it must be 24kB. When I type the url adress in web-browser directly - it downloads and opens fine. Could you please, suggest, what's wrong with my Python code?

    When I serialize a list of objects with a custom __get__ method, __get__ is not called and the raw (unprocessed by custom __get__) value from __set__ is used. How does Python's json module iterate over an item? Note: if I iterate over the list before serializing, the correct value returned by __get__ is used.
