    I have this IIS7.5 with ARR installed and configured to reverse proxy to another server which is running IIS7. On that IIS7.5 I have applications and simple websites installed. Since configuring a farm, the local application doesn't run with this error message: 502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server. There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. When the Web server (while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream content server, it received an invalid response from the content server. Is it even possible to run both application and routing (reverse proxy) at the same time?

    I want to mount and unmount an encrypted partition just like ecryptfs works with the home partition. Where can I put my commands so that they get executed upon session start and session end (the important part is the unmounting when I log out). UPDATE: For the session start I'm using .gnomerc and it does what I want. For the session end I've found no solution. I had a look at the sources of ecryptfs and it looks quite complicated. It's a pity that nobody thought about creating something analog to .bash_logout.

    Does anyone know of a 'Super Uninstaller' package that will allow you to run it from a USB Flash Drive? I used to have a CD that was a Super Uninstaller utility that would uninstall anything. I can't seem to find it and I'd like to replace it with one that I can run from a flash drive. I'd like the portability to now have to install it on each computer I'm using it on. Unfortunately it isn't activated for programs with Gui that are started as root user and some other other certain programs like gufw (when i start gufw by commandline not as root)? It uses an old not very eyecandy Theme. For example for Gufw is gives the following output on commandline: /usr/share/themes/Finery/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:365: error: unexpected number `0', expected number (float) /usr/share/themes/Finery/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:365: error: unexpected number `0', expected number (float) What could be the reason, is there a way how to enable this theme also for these programs?

    I have a MMOG server running on C++, using winsockets. My server won't support more than 200 players. I had the idea of redesigning it so it will use multiple servers instead of one, so, maybe, for example, each server could take care of a number of players, and, if it was too laggy, it could transfer the responsability of that player to other server. I'm not sure of how to program a consistent game logic like that, though. Are there techniques for this?

  • What would cause a query being ran from SSMS on local box to run slower then from remote box

    When I run a simply query such as "Select Column1, Column2 from Table A" from within SSMS running on my production SQL Server the results seems to take extremely long (45Min). If I run the same query from my dev system’s SSMS connecting to the production SQL Server the results return within a few seconds (<60sec). One thing I have notices is if the system was just rebooted performance is good for a bit. It is hard to determine a time as I have had it start running slow very quickly after reboot but at most it performed good for 20min and then start acting up. Also, just restarting the SQL service does not resolve the issue or provide a temporary performance boost. Specs for Server are: Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition, SP2 4 X Intel Xeon 3.6GHz - 6GB System Memory Active/Active Cluster SQL Server 2005 SP2 (9.0.3239)

    i am trying to deploy a auto-starting program with Administrator Priviliges on our XP-SP1-machines. For this, i am using the Windows Task Scheduler. Since most of our machines get deployed by using a PXE-imaging-system, the Task fails because the Administrator user entered is for example r126/Administrator. If i only enter Administrator then it automatically changes to machinename/Administrator. Since the machinenames are automatically changes by the imaging-system, the tasks fail run. Any ideas on how to fix that?

    First off, you should know I'm a Ubuntu newbie who has become passionate since my strangely low-priced Dell computer showed up with Ubuntu loaded on it and it could do almost everything I need from a computer. But now I've got a problem. I know, it's like asking how to use a cassette player on your computer, but in South Korea EVERY website is made to work with exclusively on MS Explorer PLUS Active X, which Microsoft finally killed with 9. Hence, I have to use 8, as there are some Korean sites I need to access for searching, banking, etc. So I see that the way to go is to load PlayOnLinux, but then I it tells me to delete these. Do I really have to do that? Should I just hit "Install Anyway"? Or would that be just asking for trouble?

This particular instance of the terminal then gives control to the program, and the program uses it as a kind of logging window, until its closed. Is this normal, or should i somehow try to start the program some other way in which it will simply show as an active process?     Currently i am running 12.04 and looking for an upgrade to 13.10 I first tried a bootable 64bit usb and failed. With the message saying "Kernal requires an x86-64 CPU but only detected an I686 CPU Unable to boot please use a kernal appropriate for your CPU" then tried 32bit and same message came up. Is this due to my laptop simply being to slow? or can/should i change the kernal somehow? I resolved a few boot issues with my first install of Ubuntu 12.10(now on clean install #3) and my system seems to function ok with video unknown. Picture quality is good and no issues with video playback. It functions for my purposes. Should I leave it as is......or will this cause problems I'm not aware of? Thanks

    My department doesn't have the budget to upgrade my ailing Dell D620 laptop. However, I do have the option to buy my own personal computer, then use my company-issued ISO image to run Windows XP as my guest os using virtualbox or vmware. Therefore, last month, I bought an Acer AX3910-U3012 desktop that had Windows 7 as the host os (and 8G RAM). In short, I was disappointed with the performance while trying to run WinXP as the guest os. (It didn't perform much better than my laptop.) Just wondering what the optimal host os would be for running Windows XP as the guest os? (No, I can't use my company-issued ISO image to build the os for my personal computer.) FWIW, I'm willing to spend up to $2k if it's REALLY worth it, but would prefer to spend no more than $1k. Also, in an effort to cut costs, I'd prefer buy a desktop instead of a laptop.     In WinXP SP3, I have a .BAT file on a mapped drive. When I try to run this .BAT file (or even right click-edit) it gives me: --------------------------- Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- This happens with any .BAT file, no matter what is within the file. If the file is on my local computer (like C:) it will run just fine. If someone else runs it from another computer (on the same mapped drive), it runs just fine. I have full permissions on the drive; I can edit/delete/save/write/create in that folder and/or .BAT file and I've ruled out permissions being the issue. It seems like a security prevention, but I can't tell what it would be. It would have to be something on my PC, but I don't use any 3rd party software. What would cause this error?

That directory is currently empty. With the vhosts file the way it is, does the Directory directive have any effect at all? I want to add some content which is separate from the Drupal site. How do I add sub-directories within /var/www/bananas.net/ which can be accessed alongside the Drupal site running at the root? As they have nothing to do with the Drupal site, I want to keep the files separate, but still using the same domain.

    I have installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my Samsung NB30 netbook. I was very excited to try it on this little box cause it has a touchscreen and Windows 8 is supposed to be optimized for touchscreen devices. The installation was quick and smooth and all the drivers seem to work well including the one for the touchscreen. There is one major problem, though: when I try to tap one of the tiles on the Metro UI it displays This app can't open. The screen resolution is too low for this app to run. The machine has Intel Atom N450 processor and Intel GMA 3159 integrated graphics card and has maximum resolution 1024x600. I've read that Metro requires at least 1024x768. Is there a solution to this problem? Is there a way to force Windows 8 Metro apps to run in lower resolutions?
