  How to make a screenshot of program window using WinAPI & C#? I sending WM_PAINT (0x000F) message to window, which I want to screenshot, wParam = HDChandle, but no screenshot in my picturebox. If I send a WM_CLOSE message, all waorking (target window closes). What I do wrong with WM_PAINT? May be HDC is not PictureBox (WinForms) component? P.S. • How to remove maximize button in Mac OS X tool window in Qt

  I have a floating tool window. It works fine on Windows, but I can't get rid of the maximise button on Mac OS X. I have tried unsetting Qt::WindowMaximizeButtonHint and setting the window to fixed size. Nothing seems to work.   I am interested in writing an app that overlays a small heads up display (HUD) over another application, in VB.NET. Does anyone have an example of this? I will need to enumerate all open windows to find the window that I want, and then overlay some text in a specific position on the window. If the user moves that window, my text will need to follow. (I will probably be painting the text in a loop over and over). Edit: nobody answered my original query - I added C# to the keywords to see if any of gurus in that language might have an answer. thanks.

• Open a chrome tab from delayed javascript window.open

  When I window.open("http://blarg") in chrome, I get a new tab. If I delay the open, say using a jquery $(hrm).animate({},5e3,function(){window.open(url)); it opens the url in a new window with no status bar, etc — if I give it permission to pop-up that is. I'm looking for a way to get the instant behavior, that is, I wish to open a URL after an animation, but still in a new tab. I imagine I could get by with learning a way to instruct chrome to never ever open pop-ups and to always open them in tabs (I imagine there's a webkit setting, why it's not a built in is a mystery); but I'd rather try to find a way to do it from the javascript if possible. I somewhat doubt there's any way to do this though. I'm not aware of any javascript that's tab-aware.

• Using protocol buffers for a comprehensive data strategy for Windows Mobile devices

  I have started reading some of the posts related to protocol buffers. The serialization method seems very appropriate for the transfer of data to and from web servers. Has anyone considered using a method like this to save and retrieve data on the mobile device itself? (i.e. a replacement for a traditional database / orm layer) Where would the data be persisted? How would the data be queried? Would it make sense to store the data in a traditional database (SqlCE or SqlLite) with a few "searchable" columns and then one column for the serialized data? Thoughts? Am I out on a limb here? Thank you!

• Mobile web on nokia devices not displaying centain elements

  So i have a site which is rendered with our in-house portal engine. It resizes images and adjusts style-sheets automatically in real-time. Issue is that some html elements are inexplicably disappearing due to what only can be described as HTML compatibility. But the problem is not consistent. And only seems to be an issue on some nokia devices. I have tried to install the Nokia Mobile Browser Emulator... but its the worst piece of software i have seen in my life... after 4 hours of installing and uninstalling different versions of JRE, i still can't get it to install.   We have a youtube player embedded in a plage in Mobile Safari and it works great. But we need to be able to launch the youtube player by a means other than user tapping the video itself, for various reasons. So I am trying to figure out what event to trigger in javascript to make it happen with no luck. None of the following appear to work. var vid = document.getElementById('vid'); vid.click(); vid.onclick(); vid.ontouchend(); vid.ontouchstart(); vid.focus(); I tried to find an event handler added to the embedded object with this snippet, but didn't find anything. for (var key in vid) { if (typeof vid[key] == 'function') console.log(key +': '+ vid[key]); } Is this just so wrapped up in a custom plugin there is no way?

• maya "export all" window blocks my plugins script UI

  I'm writing a custom File Translator for Maya which can export only (I have only declared the writer function). Currently having a problem with the MEL script which defines the plugin's options as a GUI. Currently I have a blank Maya scene, go to "file-export all". This creates the "File Export All" dialog, I then select my plugin exporter which runs my MEL script to create the bespoke options window. This new window is created behind the "File Export All" dialog and is not selectable! Do I have to place my export plugin specific options within the export all dialog rather than placing them in a separate window? Thanks for any links, tips or pointers you can provide.

  Typical things to worry about when dealing with text are the BOM/signature, encoding, and the end of line (EOL) char/chars. I know that Windows often favours \r\n (CR+LF) and Mac/Linux favours \n (LF), but how about popular mobile devices such as the iPhone and Android? Do typical apps on those platforms favour one or the other (or maybe even \r for iOS)? I'll supply both types to the user just in case, but I'd like to choose one as default. Also, which text encodings are mobiles most likely to use - UTF-8, iso-8859-1, Windows 1252 (or other default codepage) or maybe even UTF-16? And if they use UTF-8/16, are they likely to need (or require not having) a BOM/signature? What is the typical behavior here? Once again, I'll supply a range of encodings to the user just in case, but I'd like to prioritize or use certain encodings as default if it's appropriate.

My idea is a timer that ticks every 3 seconds and checks if the windows are opened. But how to find the 3 exact windows? Can I use a Window-Handle-Spy-Application and Hardcode the Window-Handles in my code to find them ever? Or change the window handle when the Application X is opened new?

  Hi Step 1 I've two screens one is parent and the other one is child. On click of a button in the parent window the child popup will open. Step 2 On click of a button in child i'm displaying the html(viewsource) of parent window in a textbox(.net) and holding in a hidden variable hdnSource too. Step 3 I've 4 checkboxes in the child window. If the checkbox is not checked, then that part of html should be removed. eg: cbxPersonal, cbxProfessional if cbxProfessional is unchecked I should remove divProfessional from html which is in hdnSource and display in the textbox Can anyone help me to do the 3rd part of coding. Since the html is in the variable, I'm not able to find the div with document.getElementById

• Is gzip compression useful for mobile devices?

  Hi SO, I'm wondering if anyone has a clue on whether the gzip compression is as much useful on mobile devices than it is on a desktop computer. Will the phone use more battery? Or will it save some because of the bandwidth saving? Will the page page load faster or is the uncompress process slow on those limited devices? Does the compressed data actually reach the end-user or is it uncompressed somewhere by the 3G provider? (this may be a stupid question, sorry). Thank you.

  Hi, How to increase the TCP receive window for a specific socket? - I know how to do so for all the sockets by setting the registry key TcpWindowSize, but how do do that for a specific one? According to MSFT's documents, the way is Calling the Windows Sockets function setsockopt, which sets the receive window on a per-socket basis. But in setsockopt, it is mentioned about SO_RCVBUF : Specifies the total per-socket buffer space reserved for receives. This is unrelated to SO_MAX_MSG_SIZE and does not necessarily correspond to the size of the TCP receive window. So is it possible? How? Thanks.

  I need to check if the user has windows on focus, I'm currently doing this: var isonfocus=true; window.onblur = function(){ isonfocus=false; } window.onfocus = function(){ isonfocus=true; } And whenever I need to check if the user has the windows on focus I just do if(isonfocus==true). Problem: if the user loses focus before the page loads, even if I do if(isonfocus==true) it will return true, even though the window is not on focus, and defining the var to false var isonfocus=false; will do the reverse.   I am having a real problem with this. I want to know if it is possible to run/call a javascript function in a Google Chrome web browser window from a VB.net application. The scenario is that i want to monitor the pc activity (which i know how to) and then if a certain event is met (for example, high ram usage) then it calls a JavaScript function in a Google Chrome web browser window so the website is updated. Sort of like a bridge. The only bit it need to know is the vb.net code for how to access a chrome window and invoke a javascript function if its possible. I assume i will need to use process handlers? Any help is appreciated.

• Facebook like box not working on mobile browser

  I'm writing a simple splash page for a client to hold a like box widget: <iframe src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/likebox.php?id=***********&amp;width=238&amp;connections=4&amp;stream=false&amp;header=false&amp;height=200" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:238px; height:200px;" allowTransparency="true"></iframe> The page displays fine, with the like box, but when you click on the like it depresses without prompting the user to logon and does not update facebook. This behavior seems to be on mobile browsers only. On desktop browsers (ie8, firefox, safari) it works just fine. Anyone had this happen, and if so what was their solution?

• Window scrolling up when jquery dialog opens up

  I am trying to open a modal jquery dialog using jquery 1.4 and jquery-ui-1.8rc3.custom.js The dialog opens up with no issues, in all browsers, but in IE 7 and 6, after the dialog opens up, the window scrolls itself to the buttom... I tried scrolling the window up back to the modal position but is very inconsistent. was using the following line of code after opening up the modal window.scrollTo($('selector').dialog('option', 'position')[0],$('selector').dialog('option', 'position')[1]); One weird thing I am noticing is that after I open the modal, the page becomes huge... as if some extra things adds up on the bottom .... and it eventually scrolls to the bottom. However, at runtime in either a window app or console, you'll get true: object t1 = "a"; object t2 = "a"; MessageBox.Show((t1 == t2).ToString()); // outputs true The runtime behavior is consistent with the definition for the == operator and strings. I have this working with javascript, the form is posted to a file named preview.php that iterates through the posted information. The script currently opens a new window. I would like instead to use jQuery to post the form to a modal window for previewing. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to do this? • Why is this jquery dialog window not displaying?

  I've got a form that is using jquery validation. When the user clicks the submit button, I've got some jquery that intercepts the submit and should display a dialog window asking the user to verify the information they entered on the form. This dialog window should only display if the form has validated. Here is my code: $('#form').submit(function(){ fillVerificationDialog(); /* This loads up the dialog with form data */ if (('#form').valid()){ $('verification_dialog').dialog('open'); return false; } }); My dialog window is not displaying. It just submits the form. And I've verified that the form is valid by using an alert that checks the value of $('#form').valid() If I remove the if statement and just have the line that opens the dialog, the dialog displays. However, it will display even if the form has errors which is what I'm trying to prevent.
