    I need to retreive a list of posts that have (at least) one attachment that belongs to a category in WordPress. The relation between attachments and categories I made by myself using the WordPress default method. Here's the query that i'm running right now: SELECT p.* FROM `wp_posts` AS p # The post INNER JOIN `wp_posts` AS a # The attachment ON p.`ID` = a.`post_parent` AND a.`post_type` = 'attachment' INNER JOIN `wp_term_relationships` AS ra ON a.`ID` = ra.`object_id` AND ra.`term_taxonomy_id` IN (3) # The category ID list WHERE p.`post_type` = 'post' ORDER BY p.`post_date` DESC LIMIT 15 The problem here is that the query only use the first found attachment, and if it doesn't belongs to the category, the result isn't returned.

  • License similar to the MIT license but without the ability to sell?

    I'm trying to decide how I want to license my Wordpress themes to the public. I know that the GPL is recommended to Wordpress theme creators, however I feel it might not be liberal enough for me because I want businesses to be able to use them if they want to. I really like the MIT license, the only thing that gets me is the freedom to sell part. I don't want someone taking my themes and selling them on some theme farm site, they should be free for everyone, however I don't want to require them to republish any changes under the MIT as well, I think that that freedom should remain intact. Is there a license that sort of fits into the terms I specified here? I'm not a lawyer so I have trouble reading through the complicated language of licenses. If there is not a similar license to the MIT but with the terms I have specified, should I just license under a modified MIT? If so, can anyone help me write it? Thanks very much!

    I'm working on a Wordpress blog. I'm embedding a stylesheet as follows: <link rel=”stylesheet” href="<?php bloginfo("stylesheet_url"); ?>" type=”text/css” media=”screen” /> However, the CSS doesn't render, at all. I've checked that the URL that is being put in the href is correct. The CSS is found. But, it doesn't render, in all browsers. I am utterly stumped, and would really appreciate a nudge in the right direction. I'm using MAMP 1.8.3, and Wordpress 1.2.9.

    Somebody said that when your PHP Code and application use global variable then it must be a spaghetti code (i assume this). I use wordpress a lot. As far as i know, it's the best thing near a great php software. And it use many global variables to interact between its components. but forget about that, cause frankly, that's the only thing i know. so it's completely biased ;D so just curious, What is the characteristic of spaghetti code ? ps : the only thing i know is wordpress. so, Hopefully, maybe this will help somebody give great answer for somebody who have a little experience on developing full web application on PHP (for example, stack-overflow website)

    How do you when using custom fields in Wordpress echo just the first value using foreach? Currently the code is: <?php for(get_field('venue_event') as $post_object): ?> <a href="<?php echo get_permalink($post_object); ?>"><?php echo get_the_title($post_object) ?></a> <?php endforeach; ?> This takes the field from the wordpress page (the field is a link to another page), creates a link to that page using get_permalink but when I want to echo the page title it does it, but then it also echos all other values that are not needed.

    Im using Wordpress, Im also creating posts via XMLRPC based on an RSS feed that is added to periodically. What I want is to read all post titles, compare those against the RSS feed, then only post to Wordpress where the post titles dont exist.     Hi guys, I'd like to create a website with similar concept as 'Hot or Not' where users need to sign up to the website and then upload photos. Each photo can be given a description and some additional fields. Other users may comment and rate the photo entries. On top of that, users may favourite/bookmark (and remove) any photo entries and they're accessible via their profile page That's generally how the website will be. Can't decide on a CMS to use Somehow I'm at a crossroad here. I've done some research and found that Joomla has an extension that is able to pull this website off but the thing is I'm not that comfortable with using Joomla. I work with WordPress most of the time, but I can't seem to figure out how would I build this website with WordPress. Would using BuddyPress make it work? Would hiring a plugin developer to customize some plugins work? What do you guys think?

I am working with a wordpress theme. Basically could I have suggestions for the correct selector to use in order to influence this tag? I can provide a simplified html structure if it will help. I've tried a number of selectors along the lines of: (sometimes)#page (# or .)cats (sometimes)ul li(sometimes with class name) EDIT: I've tried the selectors suggested in the wordpress docs. Thanks!

    So I managed to setup pods and create my custom tables. Now I want to revamp my theme so that it pulls data from the POD table. Doesn't seem to be working... This is what I did.. I have a Pod called 'project_type' with a name (string) and a code (string) field. Have also added 3 entries via the admin system. I made a copy of the default wordpress plugin and renamed it to myTheme and activated it. Inside index.php of myTheme, I removed all the default code.. and have just the POD specific code as shown below. <?php echo "Hello World"; $p = new Pod('project_type'); echo $p->getTotalRows(); ?> However, when I reload my page, only Hello World shows up? A bit new to Wordpress so kindly advice.

    I have 3 classes in WordPress (the question itself is unrelated to it): class WP_Widget class Theme_Widget extends WP_Widget class Specific_Widget extends Theme_Widget Essentially Theme_Widget contains some extension functions to the basic WP_Widget. Inside Specific_Widget I call one of Theme_Widget's methods: class Specific_Widget { function __construct() { $this->some_method_that_belongs_to_Theme_Widget(); } } When I instantiate Specific_Widget, PHP throws a fatal error as follows: Fatal error: Call to private method Theme_Widget::some_method_that_belongs_to_Theme_Widget() from context 'Specific_Widget' in ... Do you have an idea as to how I can resolve this? This is the first time I've received this error from PHP. Could it be derive from WordPress itself?

    I built many a website, and my own 'custom' framework is just a general box of scripts cobbled together with loose ideas. I would love to progress to a framework which allows me to pass it onto the client for freedom. Someone suggested using wordpress but I'm not sure how general this can be. A current site I need to build is a fancy kitchen company, price lists, flash gallery (with backend driven pics) and well designed home. How could I bend the the will of wordpress?   • Is there a script that can dynamically list the contents of a folder?

    I am redesigning my company's intranet site in Wordpress and one of the things they need is an archive of company memos. There are over 300 memos saved in one location and I'm wondering if there is a jQuery script that I can run that will read the contents of a local (network) folder and auto-generate a list of the contents of that folder dynamically (and generate those names as a hyperlink to that file, but if I can list the files, I can get include the hyperlink tag myself). I can always manually create the list of hyperlinks (would take a couple days to do so) but if I can generate it dynamically, whenever a new memo is added, the script will automatically include it making the site much easier to maintain. Is this at all possible? I know that this can probably be done in PHP, but the page I need to do this on is not a php page, it is one of the subpages that is created in wordpress that does not have a php file extension and can't run php code (that I know of) Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

  • Is there a way to test my nonce validation fails when it should?

    I'm using nonce validation in a wordpress plugin. When I submit the form from the admin menu it processes correctly, so I believe the nonce validation is working. What I'm not sure is if the validation will fail when it is supposed to and I don't know what the best way to test this is. I tried putting the url for the php file in directly, but all it does it take me to a wordpress not found page. Is there some recommended way to test this? Here is my code.     I am using the TDO-miniforms plugin for wordpress. I have a form set up that lets the user submit files. The files are successfully uploaded to the tmp-folder, but once the post is created they are not copied into the allocated post folder. The only thing that is created in the folder with a post id is a file called array. It seems like the file holds the binary data of the uploaded files. The “correct” urls are appended to the post content I am running wordpress 2.9.2 on snow leopard using Mamp.

  • Varnish + Nginx + multiple IP addresses

    This is my first shot at making Varnish work on my dedicated server which hosts 2 domains with 2 separate IP-addresses. My simplified setup is as follows: Nginx conf server { listen ip-address-1:8080; } server { listen ip-address-2:8080; } Varnish vcl backend default { .host = "127.0.0.1"; .port = "80"; } And in the varnish conf I have defined VARNISH_LISTEN_PORT=80 Varnish and Nginx (and php-fpm) are running properly but when I try to go to my website it shows the welcome to nginx page. The headers don't have the x-varnish in it. It seems that for some reason varnish is not listening to port 80. I'm suspecting this has to do with the vcl file where it is listening to the 127.0.0.1 host. I'm running two wordpress sites. Where should I look for to get Varnish working properly?   • nginx + php-fpm cycle redirection error on linode new vps

    I'm new to nginx, and I'm trying to make my first server run. I followed this guide as I'm trying to use it for a multisite wordpress site. After installing everything, I get a 500 Internal server error.
