• StringLengthValidator - localization not working

  I am validating input to my ASP.NET application using StringLengthValidators, and using the ValidationSummary control to display the error messages. To localize the application, the StringLengthValidators have the MessageTemplateResourceName and MessageTemplateResourceType attributes set. The first time the validator runs, it picks up the correct error message based on the current culture setting. If I change the language setting while running the app, the next time the validator runs, the ValidationSummary it still displays the error message for the old culture. The text for all other controls is being updated correctly. Any ideas, folks?

• MediaElement.Position behaviour and Windows Phone 7 issue

  I have a problem, I have written a simple Media Player for Windows Phone 7 and can Play, Stop and control the Volume of a Video (loaded from a URI) however when I try to set the position, this causes the application to freeze. I have used both these lines, but either does not work: Player.Position = new TimeSpan(0, 0, 0, 0, (int)Position.Value); Player.Position = TimeSpan.FromSeconds((int)(Position.Value)); I do have this event handler: void Player_MediaOpened(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { Position.Maximum = Player.NaturalDuration.TimeSpan.TotalMilliseconds; } And have tried using the Seconds value, casting to Ints etc, however everytime I try to set the Position, the app freezes. The video otherwise plays normally - anyone know what the problem may be here?

• webclient methods not available to my Silverlight application

C:\Users\Michael\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\search2\search2\MainPage.xaml.cs I'm doing this in a c# file for a XAML/Silverlight project, but can't imagine why that would make a difference. I can not find any reference to this issue on the web, and I had something similar to this working last month, but in a regular ASP.NET page, not in a Silverlight app.

  Hi, I've got a C# web application which I can't easily update the code of. However, I can make configuration changes to the application. The application calls out to a third-party ASMX web service, and I really need (if at all possible) to log the full XML requests and responses. I have no control over the web service so I have to do it from the client. I'm not using WCF - this is standard ASMX web service calls. Is there any way I can log the XML requests and responses from the client web app without having to redeploy the code? Thanks in advance John

  Hi, I want to create a layout in such a way that on top edittext and button should be there in one row. The search text I enter in editext and click on search button. Then I want to display a custom list view where each row contains image and text.(As per the API demos example list14 I have tried). But when I run the application, button and edittext are being added to each row (i.e., Each row contains a image, text, editext, button. Can Any one guide how to resolve this issue. • C++ Winsock non-blocking/async UDP socket

  Hi all! I'm developping a little data processor in c++ over UDP sockets, and have a thread (just one, and apart the sockets) that process the info received from them. My problem happens when i need to receive info from multiple clients in the socket at the same time. How could i do something like: Socket foo; /* init socket vars and attribs */ while (serving){ thread_processing(foo_info); } for multiple clients (many concurrent access) in c++? I'm using winsocks atm on win32, but just get standard blocking udp sockets working. No gui, it's a console app. I'll appreciate so much an example or pointer to one ;). Thanks in advance.

• use of EntityManagerFactory causing duplicate primary key exceptions

  Hey guys, my goal is create an EntityManager using properties dependent on which database is in use. I've seen something like this done in all my Google searches(I made the code more basic for the purpose of this question): @PersistenceUnit private EntityManagerFactory emf; private EntityManager em; private Properties props; @PostConstruct public void createEntityManager(){ //if oracle set oracle properties else set postgres properties emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("app-x"); em = emf.createEntityManager(props); } This works and I can load Oracle or Postgres properties successfully and I can Select from either database. HOWEVER, I am running into issues when doing INSERT statements. Whenever an INSERT is done I get a duplicate primary key exception.. every time!   I am able to configure our Build Server (Team Build 2008) to build our asp.net application. I've done so via <ConfigurationToBuild Include="Debug|Mixed Platforms"> <FlavorToBuild>Debug</FlavorToBuild> <PlatformToBuild>Mixed Platforms</PlatformToBuild> </ConfigurationToBuild> Problem though, the asp.net assets(eg. script folders, imgs, etc.) are not copied to the deployment folder. Folder(_PublishedWebsites) only contains the binaries references of the app plus the pre-compiled web services. Is there a way to include said folders/files to the deployment folder? Thanks

• Implementing google dashboard type interface in asp.net

  I'm looking at implementing a Google IG type dashboard in a .net app. There are a number of options I've found to do this, and i'm trying to establish what is going to be the best to use, in terms of speed, versatility etc. So far the options I am looking at are either to use asp.net webparts and .net Ajax, this would make it quicker to build, but I'm concerned this is going to make the application bulky and slow, or using JQuery, and either .net MVC or Webforms, to custom build an interface. Does anyone have any thoughts on what the best option may be, or any options I may have missed? All I want to do here is to allow users to customise a dashboard with a number of components (which will be user controls). I do also have access to Telerik controls, but I'm not sure if they would be any use here.

  My problem is very similar to this question, however I am posting a new one, as the answer to the aforementioned does not seem to solve my problem. I have a multiview application - the first view is where the user logs in to Facebook, and the second where he picks an image and uploads it there. The first time the app runs, everything works fine, however if I return to the login view and press logout, then any calls to sessionDidNotLogin, sessionDidLogout or session didLogin don't seem to work. I found out that the first time, if I NSLog(@"%@",session.delegates); I have 2; my LoginViewController and the FBLoginButton. However, apart from that first time, the same log prints only the LoginViewController and not the FBLoginButton. I guess this is connected somehow, but I don't know how to solve it. Do I have to manually add the FBLoginButton to the session delegates, or I'm doing something else wrong here? Thank you for any help/suggestion.

  I'm currently building a social networking site using the codeIgniter PHP framework. One of our major focuses of this site is to be able to upload images through the use of smartphones. We were focusing on building for the iPhone, but the iPhone doesn't let you upload files for some reason beyond me. I have been looking through solutions for days seeing if we could somehow integrate an iPhone app and have come up with nothing. The only thing I have found is using Cocoa Xcode in Objective C to somehow get around the fact. Now I don't know anything about objective C and I was wondering if I could somehow integrate a snippet of objective C into my PHP to allow users to upload photos off their iPhone and onto our site. Is this possible? If so how? If not, does anyone know another work around?

For instance: Could I write a twitter, facebook, rss reader, or email client? Can I write a game which would allows people to play each other over the web from their own tv? Could I write a DVR app which stored tv shows on the thumbdrive plugged into the player. Can I run my applications from a thumbdrive or do I need to put them on a Blu Ray disk? Does anyone have real experience with BD-J? How do you like it as a development platform? How would you recommend getting started? Can I develop in BD-J using open source tools like Eclipse, Maven, etc...

  I'm trying to use xUnit.net as the test runner for SpecFlow. The SpecFlow 1.2 binaries from the official download area don't contain an xUnit.net provider but the master branch on GitHub has one, so I build SpecFlow.Core.dll from that. I'm using xUnit.net 1.5. However, when I change the unitTestProvider name in the app.config in my spec project, I get a null reference custom tool error and the generated .feature.cs file is the single line: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Has anyone succeeded in getting SpecFlow to work with xUnit.net? If so, how?

  Hi, I have the following scenario Web server A: public on the internet, IIRF (current version) installed Web server B: on the intranet, visible to A, my APS.NET web app is installed on, name is pgdbtest3 I configure IIRF so that any request targetting directory /MMS/ on server A is redirected to the corresponding one http://pgdbtest3/MMS/. The ini file look like: StatusUrl /iirfStatus RemoteOk RedirectRule ^/MMS$ /MMS/ [I] ProxyPass ^/MMS/(.*)$ http://pgdbtest3/MMS/$1 [I] It is working fine except that any post back causes an error (404 is returned). I have tried many solutions including the removal of the action attribute from the form but with no luck. Please help!

• Is there anything RAD comparable to VCL?

  After years in embedded programming, I have to develop a Windows app. I dug out my old C++ Builder and Delphi. These are great and the latest version costs over $1k, so I won't be going there. What I prarticularly like is the VCL (visual component library) which let's me code my own components and share them with others, plus the thousands of existing 3rd party components. I noticed that there is now also a RAD PHP from Borland too. I realzie that MSVC, QT, NetBeans, etc are good enough IDEs for RAD, BUT does anything offer the ease of the Borland products for developing additional components - and does anything else have thousands to choose from? PC based? Cross-platform is good. Browser based? Free is always good ;-) I don't particularly care about the programming language.

  Hello all, Two random question as I try to integerate Paypal IPN into my Codeigniter based web app. 1) Are these two lines the same? $data['pp_info'] = $this->input->post(); $data['pp_info'] = $_POST; 2) A user agrees to pay a monthly recurring fee to use your service using paypal - first payment you are aware they have paid as you get data returned from paypal. But how do you keep track if users has paid for the following months? How do you know the user has not cancelled from their paypal account? Thanks all for any help

  I am trying to develop a simple freehand-drawing app for red-marking some of my images. Below is a method that is called from within the drawRect. I want to ask if there is a way to avoid add the path every time the path is redrawn? Also, the way the draw method is set up, the drawing gets a bit slow and choopy after a few seconds. • Encrypt nsdata in iphone and decrypt it in php

  Hi All, I am new to Iphone development , I want to create an application in which I have to upload some data on php server using my Iphone application. For this I have an file on the Iphone whose content I have to upload on php server. For this I have converted the content of the file in NSData and now I want to encrypt this nsdata object and then pass it to the php server and on php server firstly I have to decrypt the nsdata object then I have to upload it on the server. But I am not able to find any way by which I can encrypt some data in Iphone app and then decrypt it in php. And also I want to compress the encrypted data before transferring it to php and then uncompress that data on php. The complete flow of my application is IPhone NSData -- Encrypted NsData -- Compressed Encrypted Data php Compressed Encrypted Data -- uncompressed encrypted data -- decrypted (original) NSData. • Jdeveloper vs java/j2ee/js+extjs ?

  Hi All, i am new to the web development environment, having came from a unix/c environment. i've been recently asked to create a web app, which i thought would require postgresql, java/j2ee, and javascript for the client interface. as i had wanted a nicer gui, i've been reading up on extjs, which looks really nice to me. a colleague mentioned that the time needed time needed to learn all these various pieces is time consuming, and Jdeveloper seems to provide most of what we'd need (i was shown a demo, which appears to be able to generate some nice web interfaces). what are the pros and cons with the different approaches ? some i can think of: - jdeveloper is an integrated ide, which creates UI easily, tightly integrated with database. (pro) - jdeveloper will be heavier? (con) - wizard generated code may be harder to refactor ?
