  • Silverlight 4 + RIA Services - Ready for Business: Exposing WCF (SOAP\WSDL) Services

Continuing in our series, I wanted to touch on how a RIA Services can be exposed as a Soap\WSDL service.   This is very useful if you want to enable the exact same business logic\data access logic is available to clients other than Silverlight.    For example to a WinForms application or WPF or even a console application.  SOAP is a particularly good model for interop with the Java\JEE world as well.    First you need to add a reference to Microsoft.ServiceModel.DomainSerivves.Hosting.EndPoints...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • Microsoft DevDays 2010 Day 2

I delivered a session today that describes what's new in Office 2010 for solution developers. It's a session that I have evolved over the past year. My core demos have also evolved, and I'm pleased with the impact they make. The session was well attended, and I was pleased to see plenty of enthusiasm for Microsoft Office solutions from the good folks in the Netherlands. My demo image is still based on Office 2010 Beta 2, and that's something I'm already in the process of changing. I'm moving to RC...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? We already have over 80 articles in several categories including Silverlight. • Relaunch of wwwCoder.com

It's been years since I've been active in the community, but I'm back with a newly redesigned wwwCoder.com. The site was taken over by spammers, and was essientially a ghost town, but I reworked it to bring a technology topics aggregator. The site provides full text searching on the popular podcasts, vidcasts, and blogs. Hit the home page to get a quick summary of what's going on with Microsoft developers. Let me know what you think. • New WebKit tests

I have updated the WebKit comparison table with data from Safari 5, Chrome 5, and Android 2.1. Improvements throughout! The top five WebKit browsers according to these tests are now: Chrome 5 Safari 5 Safari 4 Samsung WebKit (on bada) Android 2.1Interesting findings: Chrome and Android now support localStorage (Safari already did). Chrome and Android now support geolocation. Safari does in theory, but it doesn’t give the actual coordinates, making the whole exercise a bit pointless. • VS2010 tip: Cannot find the HttpUtility on .NET 4.0?

Now that Visual Studio 2010 is here with more options and better colors, there are a few things that have changed a little and might confused you a bit. For example the good HttpUtility, if you are creating a Windows Console application or a Windows Service and you want to use that awesome class full of goodies, you would try to go to reference and add System.Web.dll, yet in the list that dll will be missing. So did they removed that dll in .NET 4? Not really, still there however there are not profiles...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • Pulling EasySearchASP.NET Off the Market

Weve been talking about this for a while, and today is the magical day. EasySearchASP.net will no longer be a product sold by myKB.com, Inc. While the product still has a support life, and there are still (minute) sales, it is no longer financially prudent to keep the product on the market. Were not investing any more dev resources into the product, and every day the product is more and more dated.
