  • How Can I Check an Object to See its Type and Return A Casted Object

    I have method to which I pass an object. In this method I check it's type and depending on the type I do something with it and return a Long. I have tried every which way I can think of to do this and I always get several compiler errors telling me it expects a certain object but gets another. Can someone please explain to me what I am doing wrong and guide me in the right direction?     All I need is to check, using python, if a string is a valid math expression or not. For simplicity let's say I just need + - * / operators (+ - as unary too) with numbers and nested parenthesis. I add also simple variable names for completeness. So I can test this way: test("-3 * (2 + 1)") #valid test("-3 * ") #NOT valid test("v1 + v2") #valid test("v2 - 2v") #NOT valid ("2v" not a valid variable name) I tried pyparsing but just trying the example: "simple algebraic expression parser, that performs +,-,*,/ and ^ arithmetic operations" I get passed invalid code and also trying to fix it I always get wrong syntaxes being parsed without raising Exceptions just try: >>>test('9', 9) 9 qwerty = 9.0 ['9'] => ['9'] >>>test('9 qwerty', 9) 9 qwerty = 9.0 ['9'] => ['9'] both test pass... o_O Any advice?

  • How do I check SQLite3 syntax?

    Is there a way to check the syntax of a SQLite3 script without running it? Basically, I'm looking for the SQLite3 equivalent of ruby -c script.rb, perl -c script.pl, php --syntax-check script.php, etc. I've thought of using explain, but most of the scripts I'd like to check are kept around for reference purposes (and don't necessarily have an associated database). Using explain would also make it hard to use with something like Syntastic. (That is, I'm only wanting to check syntax, not semantics.)

    Hi, I'd like my ASP.NET MVC application to redirect failed requests to matching action methods of a certain controller. This works fine on my development machine running Windows 7, but not on my production machine running Windows 2008 R2. I set up my web.config as follows: <customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="/Error/ServerError/500"> <error statusCode="403" redirect="/Error/AccessDenied" /> <error statusCode="404" redirect="/Error/FileNotFound" /> </customErrors> This customErrors section works fine on both of my machines (production and development) for 500 Internal Server errors. It also works fine for 404 errors on my development machine. However, it does not properly redirect 404 errors on the production machine. Instead of /Error/FileNotFound, I get the standard 404 page that comes with IIS 7. What could be the problem here?

  • Is it ever OK to throw a java.lang.Error?

    I have a plugin module that goes into a web application. If the module does not load correctly, it does not make sense for the web application to go on, and the web application should probably not load at all, we would prefer this module to initialize correctly always. If I were to throw a runtime exception, it would get into the logs, and just get ignored since the application will continue anyway, and the end users would never know... I know that errors are meant to be thrown only under exceptional conditions, and they generally have to do with situations that the system cannot recover from, but what would you do in such a situation?

    I have a VS2010 (RTM) solution which contains: WCF Service project Console WCF client project Class project for DataContracts and members Class project for some simple classes I successfully added a service reference in the console client project and ran the client. I then did a long dev cycle repeatedly modifying the service then updating console service reference. I then changed the namespace and assembly names for the projects as well as the .cs using references and app.config. I of course missed some things as it would not build so I eventually removed the project references and the service reference, cleaned and built successfully. I then attempted to add the service reference again, it discovered it but threw the “Object reference not set to an instance of an object” when OK'ing. Fix in answer below...

  • JavaScript library not working in IE, can't see error information.

    Hi there. I have been writing a JavaScript library for a few weeks now and it works brilliantly in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. I had not tested it in IE until recently. I do not own a Windows box so after testing it on my friends and realising it wasnt working I started going over my code for things that could be causing it to break. So far I have found nothing. I could not find any descriptions of the errors in the browser while I was there either. So I wondered if anyone could run my test script in an IE browser (6, 7 or 8) and let me know any information they can find as to why it crashed. Please ignore any information saying it works in IE6, I put that up there after testing it through http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/ I just assumed it was working because I could set transparency and size via my script and see it run in this tool.   • Error 0x6ba (RPC server is unavailable) when running sfc /scannow on Windows XP in Safe Mode

    I think that my mup.sys file is corrupt. I received the following error when trying to access a network share that was located on my Windows 7 box, from my Windows XP box: No network provider accepted the given network path. After reading this I attempted to follow the directions by rebooting my computer into safe mode. After I run "sfc /scannow" I receive the following error message: The specific error code is 0x000006ba [The RPC server is unavailable]. When I go into Services, it says that the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service is running but that the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator is not running. When I try to start the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator, it gives me an error saying: Error 1084: This service cannot be started in Safe Mode What can I do about this? If it can't find the Remote Procedure Call service in safe mode?
