• Cant access Dell BMC IPMI Over IP

  I have Dell R210 with iDRAC BMC (new name for old BMC). Which is on-board feature with shared NIC (I believe). Server is on colocation and I didnt set it up before sent there... So I asked for the remote hands to setup IPMI Over IP. They enabled it, set the IP and everything. The IP is different than main box IP. Also the box is cabled to NIC1 and the BMC supposed to share it (am I right?) I can see new IP in the Open Server Administrator (installed on the box). I tried Supermicro IPMI tool and I tried Dell ipmish.exe command like this ipmish -ip xxx -u root -p calvin sysinfo gives BMC is not detected What could be wrong? is there a diagnostics tool I can try? It must be something obvious. I just never used things like that before.... P.S. I read something about encryptions key in the Dell docs. But I understand that is for encrypted IPMI 2.0 and ipmish can use IPMI 1.5 without encryption.

• Correct configuration of a reverse Proxy with IIS 6.0 and IIRF for Hudson

  I have an Hudson build working on IIS 6.0 with reverse proxy (IIRF). In general it works but 2 errors are displayed in Hudson in the main configuration page called "Manage Hudson" (only if I connect through the reverse proxy): Your container doesn't use UTF-8 to decode URLs. If you use non-ASCII characters as a job name etc, this will cause problems. See Containers and Tomcat i18n for more details. • IIS7 Recover Default Website

  So I deleted my default website by accident on a Windows 2008 server in IIS7. This is bad because I now lost my Exchange OWA virtual directories... users are not happy =(. Also lost my https certificate I'm pretty sure. So I'm hoping there is an easy way to recover all that stuff being that it's Windows 2008 and all... Any help appreciated. I have no idea where to start or how to recover any of this stuff besides creating a new site called default website and then hitting the MS Exchange manual on how to install OWA from scratch.

• How to read oom-killer syslog messages?

  I have a Ubuntu 12.04 server which sometimes dies completely - no SSH, no ping, nothing until it is physically rebooted. After the reboot, I see in syslog that the oom-killer killed, well, pretty much everything. There's a lot of detailed memory usage information in them. How do I read these logs to see what caused the OOM issue? The server has far more memory than it needs, so it shouldn't be running out of memory. Kindly let me know what is creating bottleneck with URL redirect to http://openerp.mydomain.net, openerp.myydomain.net/?db=testdb on Firefox and chrome. i am struck here doing troubleshooting with the URL to work.

  Our "portal-like" SharePoint site is served using HTTPS/SSL. So a user goes to https://web.company.com and sees content and different Web Parts. So far, no problem. The desire now is to have new Web Parts added that either frame HTTP content (such as Weather Bug) or HTTP RSS feeds. The issue that arises is that by doing this, results in a "Mixed Content" warning in the browser. Has anybody successfully been able to implement such a scenario, or one similar to it?   I need to create a linked server with SQL Server Management Studio 2005 to an Access 95 database, which happens to be password protected at the database level. User level security has not been implemented. I cannot convert the Access database to a newer version. It is being used by a 3rd party application; so modifying it, in any way, is not allowed. I've tried using the Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider and the ODBC OLE DB Provider. The 3rd party application creates a System DSN (with the proper database password), but I've not had any luck in using either method. If I were using a standard connection string, I think it would look something like this: Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source='C:\Test.mdb';Jet OLEDB:Database Password=####; I'm fairly certain I need to somehow incorporate Jet OLEDB:Database Password into the linked server setup, but haven't figured out how. • Why does my ReadyNas 4200 have a constant beep post disk failure

  Went to check on a high pitched constant beep coming from the server room and discovered that all the LED lights on the disks were black except one which had a constant green. Post a Re-boot nothing changed. Console indicated that that particular drive has failed. Pulled the drive out and BAM everything is fine. Except, the high pitched beep remains. Plan is currently to replace the drive with a new same size drive we happen to have purchased for expansion. My question is, what will this do? Will the NAS accept the new drive as a replacement for the failed one and decide to shut-up? When you try to rename a file, the operation fails with the stack that we're currently using. To connect to WebDav, a client program must: Connect over https://host:443 to NginX NginX unwraps and forwards the request to a Varnish server on http://localhost:81 Varnish forwards the request to Apache on http://localhost:82, which offers a session via mod_dav Here's an example of a failed rename: $ cadaver https://webdav.domain/ Authentication required for Webdav on server `webdav.domain': Username: user Password: dav:/> cd sandbox dav:/sandbox/> mkdir test Creating `test': succeeded. dav:/sandbox/> ls Listing collection `/sandbox/': succeeded.   I'm working with Ubuntu 12.04, using OpenLDAP server. I've followed the instructions on the Ubuntu help pages and can happily connect without security. To test my connection, I'm using ldapsearch the command looks like: ldapsearch -xv -H ldap://ldap.[my host].local -b dc=[my domain],dc=local -d8 -ZZ I've also used: ldapsearch -xv -H ldaps://ldap.[my host].local -b dc=[my domain],dc=local -d8 As far as I can tell, I've setup my certificate correctly, but no matter why I try, I can't seem to get ldapsearch to accept my self-signed certificate. So far, I've tried: Updating my /etc/ldap/ldap.conf file to look like: BASE dc=[my domain],dc=local URI ldaps://ldap.[my host].local TLS_CACERT /etc/ssl/certs/cacert.crt TLS_REQCERT allow Updating my /etc/ldap.conf file to look like: base dc=[my domain],dc=local uri ldapi:///ldap.[my host].local uri ldaps:///ldap.[my host].local ldap_version 3 ssl start_tls ssl on tls_checkpeer no TLS_REQCERT allow Updating my /etc/default/slapd to include: SLAPD_SERVICES="ldap:/// ldapi:/// ldaps:///" Several hours of Googling, most of which resulted in adding the TLS_REQCERT allow The exact error I'm seeing is: ldap_initialize( ldap://ldap.[my host].local ) request done: ld 0x20038710 msgid 1 TLS certificate verification: Error, self signed certificate in certificate chain TLS: can't connect. ldap_start_tls: Connect error (-11) additional info: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed After several hours of this, I was hoping someone else has seen this issue, and/or knows how to fix it.   I have an install of Bugzilla I'm trying to implement SSL on. When I go into the parameters screen and edit SSLBASE adding in the full url: https://foo.com/bugzilla/ the editparams.cgi times out on loading and I have the following error in the apache log [Tue Mar 30 19:29:39 2010] [error] [client xxx.xx.xx.xx ] (70007)The timeout specified has expired: ap_content_length_filter: apr_bucket_read() failed, referer: http://foo.com/bugzilla/editparams.cgi On install I also received this error: WARNING: You need to set the max_allowed_packet parameter in your MySQL configuration to at least 3276750. Currently it is set to 3275776. You can set this parameter in the [mysqld] section of your MySQL configuration file. How can I force this to work? Editing other parameters (eg urlbase) work fine. The SSL site is setup and direct requests to it eg https://foo.com/bugzilla work correctly. Any ideas? Ty

• SysAdmin Career Question: Internal or Client Based

  ServerFault Community, It seems there are two positions SysAdmins find themselves in, either you are working for a non-IT services based single client (your employer) and providing in-house IT support or you work for a company who provides out sourced IT services to multiple clients. Right now I work for a company who does the latter, and I often consider how nice it would be doing the in-house side of things, to just have one network I am focused on and instead of feeling like I have a dozen bosses between clients and internal management, I would just have one set of management and people to appease. There is also the technical aspect of every client wanting something different, and having to manage numerous different technology platforms, or trying to force clients into using the technologies we prefer, neither situation is enjoyable. Is this just "the grass is greener on the other side" syndrome, or is there some legitimacy to the the stress of client based IT work compared to being an in-house IT guy? Thanks!

I think I've figure out what I'm supposed to be doing, but it's still not working. The biggest problem at this point is that vSphere Client vCenter Customization Specification IP address information is not sticking when I load a Sysprep XML file with just 1 basic setting! This can only be a bug.   I am trying to get ldaps to work through Apache 2.2.17 (Windows Server 2008). If I use ldap (plain text) my configuration works great. Finally, I also needed this with Apache tomcat. For tomcat I used the tomcat JRE and ran a line like this: keytool -import -trustcacerts -keystore cacerts -storepass changeit -noprompt -alias mycert -file Trusted_Root_Certificate.cer After doing the above line ldaps worked greate via tomcat. This lets me know that my certificate is a-ok. Update: Both ldap modules are turned on, since using ldap instead of ldaps works fine.   I have been tasked with configuring an IIS7 server to accept TLS 1.0 HTTPS connections only. I have come up with the following list of cipher suites which I have deduced are TLS 1.0. TLS_DHE_DSS_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA TLS_DHE_DSS_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA TLS_DHE_DSS_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA TLS_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA I have put that list in the box in the following policy: Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Network | SSL Configuration Settings | SSL Cipher Suite Order Is that sufficient? Are any of the suites in my list not TLS 1.0? Are there any other TLS 1.0 suites supported by IIS7 that aren't in the list? The server, by the way, is Windows Server 2008 R2. Thanks

• using own mail server with external domain and dns. Now have internal dns. dkim test not working

  I am not very knowledgeable in this area, but have been able to make great head way. Now i am stuck I setup my own mail server, e.g mailbox.example.com. I had the domain dns point to my mail server in my office. i was able to set up everything working fine. such as dkim and spf records. Recently i decided to setup an internal dns server in the office so as to resolve some addresses for some development servers internally. Ok the problem now is my mail server is sitting on the internal dns server (the mail server is on the same box as the dns server) its still able to send and receive emails but not sure if dkim is working properly. when i try to do a dkim test "amavisd test keys" i get "invalid (public key: not available)" and i know that that means i have a dns issue. so what should i do? I am currently looking at my internal dns zonefile and i dont know what to do (i am using bind dns server on an ubuntu-server box). do i configure a dkim txt record on the local dns ? or is there a way to forward dkim "request" to the external dns ? or do i have this whole thing done wrong ? To be clear Basically my internal domain name is the same as my external domain name (i.e example.com) i have a mail server within my internal domain mailbox.example.com, that uses my external domain dns (external dns has been setup to point to my emailserver (which of course is now sitting behind my internal dns)) dkim (i dont think its working because it fails the dkim test") Need help in determing the proper setup What is the proper way to set this up ? thank you Update: Here is my local dns zone file ; ; BIND data file for local loopback interface ; $TTL 604800 @ IN SOA webserver.example.com. root.example.com. • Can't connect to server using lftp

  I have a lftp file that I want to execute using the following command lftp -f /usr/scripts/fileS.lftp If I run this file I get Delaying before reconnect: Now within this file (fileS.lftp) I have the following code open -u username,password server mput -E * close If I run open -u username,password server I get the following error Couldnt get a file descriptor referring to the console I assume I need to allow a connection on the server I'm trying to connect to, how can I do this? Any help would be highly appreciated.

• Debian, 6rd tunnel, and connection troubles

  Long story short I am having issues with IPv6 using a 6rd tunnel with my ISP, charter business. They offer a 6rd tunnel that I think I have properly set up, but the server doesn’t reply to every ipv6 request. When the server has the network interfaces idle with no traffic for about 10 minutes, then IPv6 stops accepting inbound connections. to re-allow it, I must go into the server, and make it do a outbound ipv6 connection (normally a ping) to start it back up. Whats weird though i that if I run iptraf when its not working, it still shows a inbound ipv6 packet… the server is just not replying, and I can’t figure out why. Also, if I try to access my server over IPv6 from a house about 1 mile away on the same ISP, it is never able to connect. it always times out, but again the iptraf shows a ipv6 inbound packet. Again, it just does not reply. To test if my server is accessible through IPv6 I always have to use my vzw 4g phone (they use IPv6) or ipv6proxy dot net. IPv6 (92 bytes) from 97.92.18.xxx to 24.159.218.xxx on eth0 ICMP dest unrch (port) (120 bytes) from 24.159.218.xxx to 97.92.18.xxx on eth1 its strange, like its trying to forward to LAN? (eth1 is LAN, eth0 is WAN) even with the IPv6 address being set in the hosts file to the servers domain name. With iptables set up normally with the above configurations it only says this: IPv6 (100 bytes) from 97.92.18.xxx to 24.159.218.xxx on eth0 Im REALLY stuck on this, and any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
