• Delphi 7 - Why does Windows 7 change encoding of characters in runtime?

  I have a delphi 7 form: and my code: when I run this form in Windows 7, I see: In design time, form had polish letters in first label, but it doesn't have them in runtime. It looks ok on Vista or Windows XP. When I set caption of second label in code, everything works fine and characters are properly encoded. First 5 codes of top label on Windows 7: 65 97 69 101 83 First 5 codes of top label on Windows Vista/XP: 165 185 202 234 140 First 5 codes of bottom label on every system: 165 185 202 234 140 Windows 7 changes encoding, why? My system settings seem to be ok. I have proper language set for non-unicode applications in control panel.

• Heroku: Postgres type operator error after migrating DB from MySQL

  This is a follow-up to a question I'd asked earlier which phrased this as more of a programming problem than a database problem. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2935985/postgres-error-with-sinatra-haml-datamapper-on-heroku I believe the problem has been isolated to the storage of the ID column in Heroku's Postgres database after running db:push. In short, my app runs properly on my original MySQL database, but throws Postgres errors on Heroku when executing any query on the ID column, which seems to have been stored in Postgres as TEXT even though it is stored as INT in MySQL. My question is why the ID column is being created as INT in Postgres on the data transfer to Heroku, and whether there's any way for me to prevent this.   Hi All, I have a RadioGroup and two RadioButtonField added in a VerticalFieldManager. I want put an EditField for the first RadioButtonField horizontally. For ex: I have two RadioButtonField as "Enter number here:" otherwise user can choose "Number from existing Database:" in the second RadioButtonsField. In the first field "Enter number here:" i need provide an EditField horizontally next to first RadioButtonField, for him to type. I am trying to put an EditField horizoally but it doesn't show EditField horizonatally to the first RadioButtonField. May i know how to do that (or) any samples to do that? Thanks.

  Hi, It's my first time using StackOverFlow and first time trying to set up jQuery Validation. It's displaying <label> tags with the error messages as default behaviour, however the way my CSS is set up I need a div to wrap around the offending element and a message display in <p> tags.   Hi, I have a radio group which is validated for required. It works fine except when in certain cases I need to disabled first radio button leaving user to select one from remaining. Even in this case radios are validated but error message is not displayed. I believe its due to error message's association with first radio. Disabling other radio except first works fine too. Is there way around?

• How do I prevent JAXB from generating Java from imported schema?

  I've got two Java projects, both generate Java classes based on a schema definition, I'm using xjc to create the classes. My second project depends on a class from the first project, and in particular, one of the classes I'd like to generate in my second project needs to use one of the types from the first project. To accomplish this dependency at the schema level, I'm using a simple xsd:import to map the namespace to a particular schema. JAXB works just fine with this condition, except it also generates the first project's types in the second project. So after running have something like this: Project A +-- com.foo.bar +-- TypeA Project B +-- com.foo.asdf +-- TypeB +-- com.foo.bar +-- TypeA The second "TypeA" is undesirable, and I'd like to never generate it in the first place. How do I instruct JAXB not to generate the classes for "TypeA" that it finds as a result of the import statement?

  I have two views that I am loading, the first is a view with an MKMapView, the second has a table view. I would like to access a method in the first views controller, from the second view. I have been told to use the delegate for this, but I can't get it right. In my app delegate, I have set up added properties for the class of my first view. Then, in my second view, I try to access the first view using the delegate: MyAppDelegate *mainDelegate = (MyAppDelegate*) [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; Then try: [mainDelegate.mapViewControllerClass myMethodToRun]; It seems to me that it should be calling the myMethodToRun method, which is in my map view. But, it does not work. What is wrong with what I am doing here? There must be a way to access a method of another view...

• Can I have two names for the same variable?

  The short version of the question: I do: x = y. Then I change x, and y is unchanged. What I want is to "bind" x and y in such a way that I change y whenever I change x. The extended version (with some details): I wrote a class ("first" class) which generates objects of another class ("second" class). In more details, every object of the second class has a name as a unique identifier. I call a static method of the first class with a name of the object from the second class. The first class checks if such an object was already generated (if it is present in the static HashMap of the first class). If it is already there, it is returned. If it is not yet there, it is created, added to the HashMap and returned. And then I have the following problem. At some stage of my program, I take an object with a specific name from the HashMap of the first class. I do something with this object (for example change values of some fields). But the object in the HashMap does not see these changes! So, in fact, I do not "take" an object from the HashMap, I "create a copy" of this object and this is what I would like to avoid.

• Alternative Host (by DNS?) for Web Server Failure Protection

  I'm interested in having a second web host run a copy of my website, such that if my first host goes down, the traffic routes to the second host. Is this possible? My guess would be to add additional nameservers beyond the first two. I also suspect it's doable with no-ip.com, but I'm not clear on how that works, and if they would require me to leave my first host entirely?

  My basic problem is that I want to use some structs and functions defined in a header file by not including that header file in my code. The header file is generated by a tool. Since I don't have access to the header file, I can't include it in my program.   I've been quoting this segment from Sun's document for the past few days, and only now do I stop and think about what it's saying, and I can't make sense out of it. Please keep in mind that English is not my first language. Naming conventions Variables: Except for variables, all instance, class, and class constants are in mixed case with a lowercase first letter. How is this making sense? Isn't this saying that class names are in mixed case with a lowercase first letter? Like I should name it class myClass? And class constants are also in mixed case with a lowercase first letter? Like I should name it Integer.maxValue? And is it really saying anything about how variables themselves should be named? Am I not parsing this properly or is this actually a blatant error?

• Filemaker XSL 20sec Query Latency

  I have an ASP frontend that loads data from a Filemaker database using XSL to perform simple queries. The problem is that the first page load takes 20 seconds +/- 200ms, then the next few page refreshes within a minute of the first request take <200ms, then the cycle starts over again. Each page load makes only 2 XSL queries, and they execute fast after the first page load, so what is causing the delay on the first page load? I have caching turned up with a 100% hit rate, and number of connections at 100. I've tried with XSL database sessions on and off, and session time anywhere from 1 to 60 minutes without any changes. The XSL loads from ASP use a GET request and add a Basic Authorization header to authenticate each time. During fast page requests, the fmserver.exe and fmswpc.exe processes don't even flinch, but during a 20 second holdup I see fmserver jump to 30% CPU and a 3mb I/O read a few seconds into the request, and occasionally fmswpc jump to 60% CPU.

• Forward horizontal swipe events on UITableView to parent view

  I have a UITableView that I want to have respond to taps and vertical swipes, but still have something like userInteractionEnabled = NO for horizontal swipes. By that I mean, it would not handle touches and pass the touch event back to its superview. Things I've tried that didn't work: returning NO in - (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView canEditRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath Overriding touchesBegan/touchesMoved/touchesEnded and passing the event to the next responder Adding gesture recognizers for horizontal swipes and setting cancelsTouchesInView to YES I've been trying to fix this on and off for several weeks, so any help is greatly appreciated!
