  • Joda Time cannot subtract one hour

    In my android program, I have a spinner that allows the user to select different times. Each selection is processed with Joda time to subtract the minutes. It works fine for minutes 0 to 59 and 61 and greater. However, when 60 minutes is subtracted, the time is not updated, and the original time is shown. How do I get Joda time to subtract 60 minutes?     Hi, I have a simple question hopefully - how does one free memory which was allocated in the try block when the exception occurs? Consider the following code: try { char *heap = new char [50]; //let exception occur here delete[] heap; } catch (...) { cout << "Error, leaving function now"; //delete[] heap; doesn't work of course, heap is unknown to compiler return 1; } How can I free memory after the heap was allocated and exception occurred before calling delete[] heap? Is there a rule not to allocate memory on heap in these try .. catch blocks? Thanks

    I'm looking for a good source for sound effects for my iPhone game. I like SoundSnap, but they charge you for every sound you download, not just the ones you end up using. Sound design in games can be a very iterative process and I don't want to pay for 10 sounds I never use before finding the right one. freesound.org is another really good site, but they are all CC licensed and can't be used in commercial games. It's unclear if a free iPhone App is considered commercial (or if my final game will be free). Googling for this returns a huge number of pay sites with horrible web pages. I don't mind paying for sounds, but I want to pay for what I use. Any good personal recommendations?

  • Free object/widget in GTK?

    I've got a pack box in my GTK application and I'm replacing it every once in a while with a completely new entry (at least for now cause I'm in a hurry). Since I'm replacing it with a new instance, do I need to explicitly free from memory the old pack box contents or is there some garbage collection in GTK? If I do need to explicitly need to free the object, is there a command that will recursively go to all objects in that tree (like will it clear my button in a box container inside my main pack box)? I'm using C/GTK-2.0 (gcc v4.4.3 and GTK 2.20.0).

I'm looking to start a new project to tinker with in my spare time and I am wondering what interesting data is available to play with. It seems like many api services such as last.fm or google search don't exist or are no longer free.     Hi, I am trying to use time() to measure various points of my program. http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/clibrary/ctime/time/ What I don't understand is why the values in the before and after are Different?   • Freeing of allocated memory in Solaris/Linux

    Hi, I have written a small program and compiled it under Solaris/Linux platform to measure the performance of applying this code to my application. The program is written in such a way, initially using sbrk(0) system call, i have taken base address of the heap region. After that i have allocated an 1.5GB of memory using malloc system call, Then i used memcpy system call to copy 1.5GB of content to the allocated memory area. Then, I freed the allocated memory. After freeing, i used again sbrk(0) system call to view the heap size. This is where i little confused. In solaris, eventhough, i freed the memory allocated (of nearly 1.5GB) the heap size of the process is huge. But i run the same application in linux, after freeing, i found that the heap size of the process is equal to the size of the heap memory before allocation of 1.5GB. I know Solaris does not frees memory immediately, but i don't know how to tune the solaris kernel to immediately free the memory after free() system call. Also, please explain why the same problem does not comes under Linux? Can anyone help me out of this? Thanks, Santhosh.

    Hi..guys I am trying to insert date and time into mysql datetime field. When a user select a date and time, it will generate two POST variables. I have searched internet but still not sure how to do it. My code. //date value is 05/25/2010 //time value is 10:00 $date=$_POST['date']; $time=$_POST['time']; $datetime=$date.$time If I insert $datetime into mysql, the date appears to be 0000-00-00:00:00:00 I appreciate it if anyone could help me about this.     Hi I have created a Google Spreadsheet form in which for one of the fields I get the time (hh:mm:ss) in 24-hour format. I am using Google Apps Scripts to read values from this spreadsheet and put it into another file. But the other file gets the entire date (don't know from where) and shows a date from 1899. Also the time is shown in PDT (not my time zone). Even the time it prints is not correct How do I read the column value as a string and put it in the other file OR get just the time from the column value (and the correct time) I am using a simple row[0][3] to get the values from an array after doing range.getValues() Thanks.

    I want to get a linegraph in R which has Time along x and temperature along y. Originally I had the data in dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm format, with a time point every 30 minutes. https://www.dropbox.com/s/q35y1rfila0va1h/Data_logger_S65a_Ania.csv Since I couldn't find a way of reading this into R, I formatted the data to make it into dd/mm/yyyy and added a column 'time' with 1-48 for all the time points for each day https://www.dropbox.com/s/65ogxzyvuzteqxv/temp.csv This is what I have so far: temp<-read.csv("temp.csv",as.is=T) temp$date<-as.Date(temp$date, format="%d/%m/%Y") #inputting date in correct format plot(temperature ~ date, temp, type="n") #drawing a blank plot with axes, but without data lines(temp$date, temp$temperature,type="o") #type o is a line overlaid on top of points. This stacks the points up vertically, which is not what I want, and stacks all the time points (1-48) for each day all together on the same date. Any advice would be much appreciated on how to get this horizontal, and ordered by time as well as date.
