  • Howto WCF Service HTTPS Binding and Endpoint Configuration in IIS with Load Balancer?

    We have a WCF service that is being hosted on a set of 12 machines. There is a load balancer that is a gateway to these machines. Now the site is setup as SSL; as in a user accesses it through using an URL with https. I know this much, the URL that addresses the site is https, but none of the servers has a https binding or is setup to require SSL. This leads me to believe that the load balancer handles the https and the connection from the balancer to the servers are unencrypted (this takes place behind the firewall so no biggie there). The problem we're having is that when a Silverlight client tries to access a WCF service it is getting a "Not Found" error. I've set up a test site along with our developer machines and have made sure that the bindings and endpoints in the web.config work with the client. It seems to be the case in the production environment that we get this error. Is there anything wrong with the following web.config? Should we be setting up how https is handled in a different manner? We're at a loss on this currently since I've tried every programmatic solution with endpoints and bindings. None of the solutions I have found deal with a load balancer in the manner we're dealing.   • What kind of DNS and IIS configuration is needed to allow multiple domains to point to a multi-tenant web application?

    I'm developping a multi-tenant web application in ASP.NET MVC and it will provide my users the ability to have a custom subdomain pointing to their account page (like user.myapp.com). I already have it working by using a wildcard DNS entry and a code to query the database to load the user data based on the domain. I'm planning to offer the possibility of using custom domains, allowing the users to buy their own domains and use it instead of the subdomains that will be provided by default. I currently use DNSMadeEasy to host the DNS for the application main domain. I just don't know what kind of settings I must make to allow this feature to work, since the users will have domains hosted in several companies. Will I have to create my own nameservers and provide it to my users? What other things I must consider to implement it efficiently?

  • PHP + Pear + IIS + WPI. How to uninstall?

    I've installed PHP using the WPI, only to find out that I don't have the ability to install PEAR (not even sure that's true). So, now I want to uninstall PHP, but there are no options, not documentation, and the only thing I found was a hour long tutorial that required me to run a 300 line vbs (which blew up). Am I missing something here? Why is it this difficult to find documentation on this stuff?!? Is there an easier way to either get Pear 'installed' of getting PHP uninstalled so I can use the OTHER installer that lets me install Pear?

  • IIS 7.5 website application pool with full administrator permissions hackable?

    Although I would never do this, I would like to know how a static html website with the permission mentioned in the title could be compromised. In my humble opinion, I would guess that this would pose no threat since a web visitor has no way to upload/edit/delete anything. What if the site was a simple PHP website that simply displayed ‘hello world’? What if this PHP site had a contact us form that was properly sanitized? Thank you

  • iis7 bandwith throttling for downloads via iis media services?

    I am looking after a sever that is managing the downloads of software updates released by the company where I work. The throttle in IIS7 seems to limit the total rate and not the rate each individual download gets. I was thnking on installing media services, adding .zip as a type and then throttling the individual connection rate based on what I read. Is this how this sort of thing is done with IIS7?
