  • jQuery way to replace just a text node with a mix of HTML and text

    In my web browser userscript project I need to replace just one text node without affecting the other HTML elements under the same parent node as the text. And I need to replace it with more than one node: <div id="target"> some text<img src="/image.png"> </div> Needs to become: <div id="target"> <a href="#">mixed</a> text <a href="#">and</a> HTML<img src="/image.png"> </div> I know jQuery doesn't have a whole lot of support for text nodes. I know I could use direct DOM calls instead of jQuery. And I know I could just do something like $('#target').html(my new stuff + stuff I don't want to change). What I'd like to ask the experts here is, Is there a most idiomatic jQuery way to do this?

  • Set hidden form field values with JavaScript but request still empty

    HI volks, I try to set some hidden form field values with an onclick event. Ok, after I did something like this: document.getElementById('hidden_field').value = 123; I can output the value with the firebug console by entering this: alert(document.getElementById('hidden_field').value); So the values are definitely set. But now when I submit the form, the hidden field values are still empty. Do you have any idea whats going wrong? Thx for your answers.

  • How to manipulate string to delete quotes?

    I am trying to manipulate a string so that any quotes (") within <a href> and <\a> get taken out... Sorry if its been asked before but I just can't get it to work! By the way, I am POSTing the data from a form and then manipulating the string. This is basically html but its in the form of a string, and I want to take out quotes on things like images and links... Another thing is, I do not want to escape the quotes because that would break the link... And the whole point is that the html can be used and work fine... But now, something is automatically creating a second set of quotes inside the normal quotes, like this: <a href="\"http://www.example.com/\""></a> Example input would be: <p><a href="http://www.example.com">example</a></p> Heres how it appears when I echo it however: <p><a href=\"http://www.example.com\">example</a></p> Heres how I want it to look: <p><a href="http://www.example.com">example</a></p> So I would actually be trying to get rid of the (/) my bad...

    What's the best way to unstub the following functions? // Convert a bit-vector to an integer. int bitvec2int(boolean[] b) { [CODE HERE] } // Convert an integer x to an n-element bit-vector. boolean[] int2bitvec(int x, int n) { [CODE HERE] } Or is there a better way to do that sort of thing than passing boolean arrays around? This comes up in an Android app where we need an array of 20 booleans to persist and the easiest way to do that is to write an integer or string to the key-value store. I am trying to create a drop down menu, something I have now is like: <select> <option value="volvo">Volvo</option> <option value="saab">Saab</option> <option value="opel">Opel</option> <option value="audi">Audi</option> </select> but this is not exactly what I want. I want to create a drop down list very similar to the one on Amazon.com (the dropdown list beside "Search"), shown in following pic. so whenever user click on the button, the list will be displayed in the button as text.     I am working on an application which requires matching of numbers from a scanned image file to database entry and update the database with the match result. Say I have image- employee1.jpg. This image will have two two handwritten entries - Employee number and the amount to be paid to the employee. I have to read the employee number from the image and query the database for the that number, update the employee with the amount to be paid as got from the image. Both the employee number and amount to be paid are written inside two boxes at a specified place on the image. Is there any way to automate this. Basically I want a solution in .net using c#. I know this can be done using artificial neural networks. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

  • C Population Count of unsigned 64-bit integer with a maximum value of 15

    I use a population count (hamming weight) function intensively in a windows c application and have to optimize it as much as possible in order to boost performance. More than half the cases where I use the function I only need to know the value to a maximum of 15. The software will run on a wide range of processors, both old and new. I already make use of the POPCNT instruction when Intel's SSE4.2 or AMD's SSE4a is present, but would like to optimize the software implementation (used as a fall back if no SSE4 is present) as much as possible. Currently I have the following software implementation of the function: inline int population_count64(unsigned __int64 w) { w -= (w 1) & 0x5555555555555555ULL; w = (w & 0x3333333333333333ULL) + ((w 2) & 0x3333333333333333ULL); w = (w + (w 4)) & 0x0f0f0f0f0f0f0f0fULL; return int(w * 0x0101010101010101ULL) 56; } So to summarize: (1) I would like to know if it is possible to optimize this for the case when I only want to know the value to a maximum of 15. (2) Is there a faster software implementation (for both Intel and AMD CPU's) than the function above?

  • Rails- MiniMagick commands not working

    I'm running windows xp and I've got MiniMagick and ImageMagick installed (latest versions). I'm now using the console to test out that everything works. Using the ms command prompt image magick works no problem. I'm testing this by using the identify command. Now, when I try to use MiniMagick from the console by entering image = MiniMagick::Image.new('image.jpg') It returns MiniMagickError, "ImageMagick command ("identify \"input.jpg\"") failed: {:status_code = #"'identify' is not recognized as an internal or external command,\noperable program or batch file.\n"} Can anybody help?

  • iOS - How to iterate through list of files on website directory

    On iOS, I am looking for the proper way to return the URLs for a list of files that are in a directory. /images 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg ... I know the URL for the directory and know all the files in the directory will be of type jpeg. It is not clear to me how to properly format the NSURLRequest to return the list of files in the images directory. Once the list is returned, I will iterate through it to return the individual images.

    I want to remove hyphens (-), slashes (/) and white space () from a string name(i) so that I can use it as a structure field name. This is the ugly way I am currently doing it using the function strrep: cell2mat(strrep(strrep(strrep(name(i), '-',''),'/',''),' ', '')) I have also tried other variations, such as: strrep(name(i),{'-','/'},{'',''}); strrep(name(i),['-','/'],['','']); What is a more efficient way of doing this?

  • Removing the last character of a string IF it is $variable

    Hi there, I've made a little script to convert titles into url friendly things. ie: 'I am a title' becomes 'I_am_a_title' My script basically goes through and turns spaces, apostrophes, commas etc etc into an underscore. The problem is, sometimes my url's end up like this: 'i_am_a_title_' with a trailing underscore... So i figure, add a little bit to go through and search to see if the last character is an underscore on the final result, and if it is, then swap it. I looked into the strrchr() function but I seem to be hitting a wall of my own understanding. How is this sort of thing accomplished?

I simply want to create a dropdown list in Access so that upon selection I can perform some action based on the value of the selection. For instance, I have a list of people and I would like to populate the combo box so that their names appear in the list but the "value" is set to their ID (the primary key).

    Does the .NET String.Format method allow placement of a string at a fixed position within a fixed length string. " String Goes Here" " String Goes Here " "String Goes Here " How is this done using .NET? Edit - I have tried Format/PadLeft/PadRight to death. They do not work. I don't know why. I ended up writing my own function to do this. Edit - I made a mistake and used a colon instead of a comma in the format specifier. Should be "{0,20}".     I have an application that requires we use distinct user connection strings per user. We are trying to upgrade from SubSonic 2.x to 3.0. I'm running into issues with trying to create a List< of objects. When I try to create a List like this: List<table_name> oList = table_name.All().Where(tn => tn.table_id == TableId).ToList(); I get the error "Connection string 'ConnectionStringName' does not exist." So, I try to create the List< like this: List<table_name> oList = table_name.All(sConnectionString, "System.Data.SqlClient").Where(tn => tn.table_id == TableId).ToList(); I get the error "The name 'table_name' does not exist in the current context." I'm using SQL Server, and the sConnectionString is definitely verified to be a good connection string, and the table_name is a table in the database. What am I doing wrong?
