  • asp.net mvc log4postsharp

    Hi Iam trying to use log4post sharp for logging purposes, As far as Iam aware I have followed the instructions to get this up and running, I have not installed postsharp, rather I got the library files and midified my cs proj file to target those file, I have also tried installing postsharp on my machine. In either case I end up with this error Error 5 The plug-in "Log4PostSharp" required by the type "Log4PostSharp.LogAttribute" was not found. I have tried googling this and it seems there is no trace of this issue anywhere on the web. One difference between my implementation with other examples is that the postsharp dll that they use is PostSharp.public, mine is just PostSharp. I have tried searching for the former dll but cannot find it anywhere, the download only contains PostSharp.dll. I feel this may be the issue as I have followd all the insturctions to the letter to get this up and running. Any Ideas People?

    Hello All, I have what should be an easy question for you today. I have two radio buttons in my view: Sex: <%=Html.RadioButton("Sex", "Male", true)% Male <%=Html.RadioButton("Sex", "Female", true)% Female I need to select one based on the value returned from my database. The way I am trying to do it now is: ViewData["Sex"] = data.Sex; //Set radio button But that is not working. I have tried every possible combination of isChecked properties. I know that data.Sex is returning either "Male" or "Female". What do I need to do to check the appropriate radio button?

  • ASP.NET MVC ViewModelBuilder Suggestions

    For anything but trival view models, I use a view model builder that handles the responsibility of generating the view model object. Right now, I use constructor injection of the builders into my controllers but this smells a little since the builder is really dependent upon which action method is being executed. I have two ideas in mind. The first one would involve a custom ActioFilter allowing me to decorate each action method with the appropriate builder to use. The second would be to add an override of the View method that is open to accepting a generic. This is what my code currently looks like. Note, the builder get injected via the ctor. [HttpGet, ImportModelStateFromTempData, Compress] public ActionResult MyAccount() { return View(accountBuilder.Build()); } Here is what option one would look like: [HttpGet, ImportModelStateFromTempData, Compress, ViewModelBuilder(typeof(IMyAccountViewModelBuilder)] public ActionResult MyAccount() { return View(accountBuilder.Build()); } Or option two: [HttpGet, ImportModelStateFromTempData, Compress] public ActionResult MyAccount() { return View<IMyAccountViewModelBuilder>(); } Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!

  • Can't get past "A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected..." error

    I'm doing my first ASP.NET MVC2 project and I can't get past the "A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected..." error when trying to submit a form. I've done this in MVC1 using the ValidateInputAttribute and I've read about the breaking change in .NET 4 that requires setting the request validation mode in the web.config. Basically I'm doing exactly what is outlined in this thread: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2019843/a-potentially-dangerous-request-form-value-in-mvc-2-asp-net-4-0. Nothing's working though so I must be missing something.     Okay i'm new to asp mvc2 and i'm experiencing some problems with the htmlhelper called Html.dropdownlistfor(); I want to present the user a list of days in the week. And i want the selected item to be bound to my model. I have created this little class to generate a list of days + a short notation which i will use to store it in the database. public static class days { public static List<Day> getDayList() { List<Day> daylist = new List<Day>(); daylist.Add(new Day("Monday", "MO")); daylist.Add(new Day("Tuesday", "TU")); // I left the other days out return daylist; } public class Dag{ public string DayName{ get; set; } public string DayShortName { get; set; } public Dag(string name, string shortname) { this.DayName= name; this.DayShortName = shortname; } } } I really have now idea if this is the correct way to do it Then i putted this in my controller: SelectList _list = new SelectList(Days.getDayList(), "DayShortName", "DayName"); ViewData["days"] = _list; return View(""); I have this line in my model public string ChosenDay { get; set; } And this in my view to display the list: <div class="editor-field"> <%: Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.ChosenDay, ViewData["days"] as SelectList, "--choose Day--")%> </div> Now this all works perfect. On the first visit, But then when i'm doing a [HttpPost] Which looks like the following: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Registreer(EventRegistreerViewModel model) { // I removed some unrelated code here // The code below executes when modelstate.isvalid == false SelectList _list = new SelectList(Days.getDayList(), "DayShortName", "DayName"); ViewData["days"] = _list; return View(model); } Then i will have the following exception thrown: The ViewData item that has the key 'ChosenDay' is of type 'System.String' but must be of type 'IEnumerable<SelectListItem>'. This errors gets thrown at the line in my view where i display the dropdown list. I really have no idea how to solve this and tried several solutions i found online. but none of them really worked.     Hi, I have an Employee object which has an image property. Image class contains image metadata as image caption, and image file name. If I upload a new image for an employee on async way without full post back the new image is not appeared on the page. I use GUID to name the image file to avoid the page caching. I do the image modifying the following way: ctrEmployee employee = Repository.Get(PassedItemID); if (employee.ctrImage != null) { string fullFileName = serverFolder + employee.ctrImage.FileName; FileInfo TheFile = new FileInfo(fullFileName); if (TheFile.Exists) { TheFile.Delete(); } fileName = Guid.NewGuid() + ".jpg"; employee.ctrImage.FileName = fileName; } resizedBmp.Save(string.Format("{0}{1}", serverFolder, fileName), System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg); Repository.Edit<ctrEmployee>(employee); ImageID = employee.Image.Value; return PartialView(UserControlPaths.Thumbnail, new ThumbnailDataModel(employee.Image.Value, 150, 150)); The partial view has an image tag which gets the saved image url string which is a GUID. Anybody has an idea what I do wrong?

  • telerik mvc grid access cell data to enable columns.Command

    Hi! I can't seem to find a way to reference the value in a column in the grid, in my case it is the StatusId. Based on the cell value in this row, for the StatusId, I need to return a true or false to the method ".Visible(???)". It would be nice to find the answer in the documentation online but I haven't been able to. I find it hard to believe that I would be the first person who ever needed this functionality.   • ASP .NET MVC; return HTML along with JavaScript

    I have a partial view which renders a table. On page load, I am using JQuery to perform Zebra Stripping on it. Whenever ajax refreshes the table, DOM elements are updated, but since JQuery code to do the Zebra Stripping is not executed; table looks ugly. I have tried adding Javascript in my partial view if( Request.IsAjaxRequest() ) return PartialView( "AdministrationGrid", Users ); but javascript is not executed. I guess the only way to execute the Javascript as reply is to do: return JavaScript( "alert( '' )" ); Anyone with an idea how can I achieve this? I thought about JQuery Live, but it is used to bind itself to events.

  • inbound/outbound url routing in asp.net MVC

    The routing I need is quite simple, I must be missing something there. As code example I put the simpler situation where I can reproduce my behavior. You have this ActionMethod : public ActionResult Index(string provider) { ViewData["Message"] = provider; return View("Index"); } And you have this route : routes.MapRoute( null, "{controller}/{action}/{provider}", new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", provider = "Default" } ); // Parameter defaults You can call /Home/Index/Custom and provider will take the value "Custom" What Route would I need if I want the url /?provider=Custom to map the provider to the parameter. I thought that would just work, because the default controller and the default action would be used, and the provider from the querystring would be used instead of the default one. but the querystring is just ignored here. That's a problem in my situation as I have a form using HTTP GET method. The form action has to be Html.BeginForm(c=c.Index(null)) which is resolved as / and the value of my form are added in the querystring. (the provider being a dropdown in the form) So the url built by the form is /?abc=value&cde=value...

  • Code reviews for larger MVC.NET team using TFS

    I'm trying to find a good code review workflow for my team. Most questions similar to this on SO revolve around using shelved changes for the review, however I'm curious about how this works for people with larger teams. We usually have 2-3 people working a story (UI person, Domain/Repository person, sometimes DB person). I've recommended the shelf idea but we're all concerned about how to manage that with multiple people working the same feature. How could you share a shelf between multiple programmers at that point? We worry it would be clunky and we might easily have unintended consequences moving to this workflow. Of course moving to shelfs for each feature avoids having 10 or so checkins per feature (as developers need to share code) making seeing the diffs at code review time painful. Has anyone else been able to successfully deal with this? Are there any tools out there people have found useful aside from shelfs in TFS (preferably open-source)?

    Consider a link to a page for a user's profile. A page is creating that URL like this: //Model.Name has value "<bad guy>" Html.ActionLink("foo, "ViewUser", new { id=5, title=Url.Encode(Model.Name) }) The actual outcome was http://mysite/Users/5/%253cbad%2guy%253e When navigating to that URL, the server generates a HTTP Error 400 - Bad Request. Question: Given that the Model.Name may contain Unicode characters, or characters otherwise illegal in URLs, what's the best way to strip out illegal characters, or otherwise encode them? The problem surfaces when testing out 'interesting' user inputs with < and >, but anything could come from the user, and therefore be put in a URL by way of Model.Name.

  • .net MVC RenderPartial renders information that is not in the model

    Hi, I have a usercontrol that is rendering a list of items. Each row contains a unique id in a hidden field, a text and a delete button. When clicking on the delete button I use jquery ajax to call the controller method DeleteCA (seen below). DeleteCA returns a new list of items that replaces the old list. [HttpPost] public PartialViewResult DeleteCA(CAsViewModel CAs, Guid CAIdToDelete) { int indexToRemove = CAs.CAList.IndexOf(CAs.CAList.Single(m => m.Id == CAIdToDelete)); CAs.CAList.RemoveAt(indexToRemove); return PartialView("EditorTemplates/CAs", CAs); } I have checked that DeleteCA is really removing the correct item. The modified list of CAs passed to PartialView no longer contains the deleted item. Something weird happens when the partial view is rendered. The number of items in the list is reduced but it is always the last element that is removed from the list. The rendered items does not correspond to the items in the list/model sent to PartialView. In the usercontrol file (ascx) I'm using both Model.CAList and lambda expression m = m.CAList. How is it possible for the usercontrol to render stuff that is not in the model sent to PartialView?     Hello I have a custom route that without constraints generates a Restful URL with an ActionLink. Route - routes.MapRoute( "Blog", // Route name "Blog/{d}/{m}/{y}", // URL with parameters, new { controller = "Blog", action = "Retrieve" } Generates - http://localhost:2875/Blog/12/1/2010 From - <%=Html.ActionLink("Blog Entry - 12/01/2010", "Retrieve", "Blog", new { d = 12, m = 01, y = 2010 }, null)%> If I add constraints like so. routes.MapRoute( "Blog", // Route name "Blog/{d}/{m}/{y}", // URL with parameters, new { controller = "Blog", action = "Retrieve" }, new { d = @"\d{2}", m = @"\d{2}", y = @"\d{4}" } It generates - http://localhost:2875/Blog/Retrieve?d=12&m=1&y=2010 Extra information: it is added before the custom route.     I am attempting to use a property on my model that is of type Dictionary<string, string>. This dictionary is one of several other properties on the model, and I am using the dictionary as a key/value store to produce a 'dynamic' form. E.G.: User Name Settings A B I want to be able to submit and save any changes to settings A and B. I can submit the form and get my posted values in all my other fields, however the dictionary gets set to null. <%=Html.LabelFor(m => m.Name)%> <%=Html.DisplayFor(m => m.Name)%> <%=Html.LabelFor(m => m.Settings["A"])%> <%=Html.TextBoxFor(m => m.Settings["A"])%> <%=Html.LabelFor(m => m.Settings["B"])%> <%=Html.TextBoxFor(m => m.Settings["B"])%> Is there a better way to produce the dynamic form with a key/value pair? The actual code will be using partials (there several hundred variations), and the above is only a contrived example.

    Hi, I have a domain object Thing which can contain several Categories. So I have implemented my HTML helper to create a checkbox group of all possible Categories. I have no problem receiving: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Create(Thing Thing, List<string> Categories) However I am wondering whether I could use a custom Model binder to use just this: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Create(Thing Thing) So basically I am looking for a way to use the model binder to bootstrap the object tree/graph.     I have a form which a user can fill in x times with the data they want too. The form is posted to the following Action. [HttpPost] public ActionResult Manage(ProductOptionModel DataToAdd) { if (!ModelState.IsValid) { return View(DataToAdd); } var ProdServ = new ProductService(); if (DataToAdd.ID != 0) { //Edit Mode. DataToAdd = ProdServ.EditProductOption(DataToAdd); ViewData["Message"] = "Option Changes Made"; }else { //Add DataToAdd = ProdServ.AddProductOption(DataToAdd); ViewData["Message"] = "New Option Added"; } var RetModel = new ProductOptionModel() {ProductID = DataToAdd.ProductID}; return View(RetModel); } So at the bottom I blank the model (Leaving just the required field) and then return to the view. However the view holds the data from the previously submitted form. Any ideas why? I have debugged the code and checked that the RetModel variable is empty.
