  Hi, I have a "basic" license agreement screen for now, a Screen with a title set and vertical field containing a textfield, separatorfield and then 2 buttons (accept or decline). The license is pretty long, it's annoying going all the way down (except with the storm it's pretty easy) and I want a kind of popup screen showing the license and the 2 buttons at the bottom. To give you an example, the exact SAME as the Facebook or App World application's license screen agreement! When you scroll the text, it's going a lot faster and it's visualy great. Thank you!

  Style, set to Qt application, vanishes, when QDockWindow or QToolBar is being unattached. Application is designed to work in Windows XP environment, most of users use it's 'classic' scheme, and application's style is Cleanlooks. It looks fine, until one want to undock dockable window or move toolbar. CLeanlooks vanishes, and it is rather ugly. Is there any workaround to handle this?

  I have thousands of lines of 1 to 100 numbers, every line define a group of numbers and a relationship among them. I need to get the sets of related numbers. Little Example: If I have this 7 lines of data T1 T2 T3 T4 T5 T6 T1 T5 T4 T3 T4 I need a not so slow algorith to know that the sets here are: T1 T2 T6 (because T1 is related with T2 in the first line and T1 related with T6 in the line 5) T3 T4 T5 (because T5 is with T4 in line 6 and T3 is with T4 in line 7) but when you have very big sets is painfully slow to do a search of a T(x) in every big set, and do unions of sets... etc. Do you have a hint to do this in a not so brute force manner? I'm trying to do this in python. Thanks

• MySQL Locking Up

  I've got a innodb table that gets a lot of reads and almost no writes (like, 1 write for every 400,000 reads approx). I'm running into a pretty big problem though when I do INSERT into the table. MySQL completely locks up. It uses 100% cpu, and every single other table (in other databases even) have their statuses set to "Locked" until the INSERT is done. This is a big problem because MySQL stays locked up for up to 4 minutes. I'm using version 5.1.47 (rpm from mysql.com). Any ideas?

Right now, my script run through a for loop echoing each value to the standard output: for value in ${values[@]} do echo $value done Yeah, that's pretty ugly! And the one column listing is pretty long too... I was wondering if i can find a command or builtin helping me to display all those values in columns, like the ls command does by default when listing a directory (ls -C). • Algorithm to distribute objects in a box (like InDesign, Illustrator, Draw!)

  I have a set of rectangles with their corresponding positions and a big rectangle which serves as the 'bounding box' for these rectangles. I would like to know of an algorithm that would 'distribute the free space' evenly among the rectangles. Some of you may be familiar with the Distribute Spacing option in Adobe InDesign and similar layout-oriented apps. That would be what I'm looking for. I did try looking it up, but I'm not familiar with 'graphical' algorithms terminology and trying only terms relating to 'distribute' mainly yields results about Distributed Computing. So, even the names of the algorithms or better terms to look up would be a big help. Finally, the algorithm doesn't need to be rigorously the same as InDesign's one: pretty much any algorithm that 'distributes' objects inside a region will work fine. In fact, since I'm striving for visual appeal mainly, the more suggestions the better. =D

• git can I speed up committing?

  I have a big repository in a shared folder. I use git from within a VM on that folder. Everything works nice, but the repository is big and git's searching through all directories and files when committing is slow. I cannot move this repository out of the shared folder. I tried to git add specific files and directories, but when I do git commit -m "something" it still goes off onto it's oddyssey through the directory tree. Can I do commits that ignore the rest of the tree?

• What would be a good way to scale images in c#

  I got a website which contains alot of projects with each project containing a sidebar. In this sidebar it is possible to attach images to a project. The images attached will be shown in a gallery with 3 small thumbs at the bottom and one bigger image at the top of the gallery. The big image will refresh to another image when a visitor clicks on the small thumb @ the bottom of the gallery. The thumbs are no problem, they are shown correctly. My problem is the bigger image at the top of the gallery. The images that get uploaded have a big variety of sizes, while my holder has a width of 239 and height of 179. What would be the best way to scale the images so that they are shwon correctly to the visitors of the website?

• Specifying a Single Request To Use Credentials with HttpClient

  I am using OAuth2 on my android project. The idea is to use a singleton HttpClient used with a ThreadSafeClientConnManager. For a normal request to the server we construct an Authorization header and send that. The header is constructed from values received from the server. This works fine. However every 15 minutes we must get new values from the server to construct the header. To Received these values I must set the credentials like so. client.getCredentialsProvider().setCredentials( new AuthScope(AuthScope.ANY_HOST, AuthScope.ANY_PORT), new UsernamePasswordCredentials(creds.clientId, creds.clientSecret)); In order for this to work I must set up and new DefaultHttpClient. If I use the original singleton httpclient I receive some errors. My question is.. is it possible to set the credentials to be used only on this one request? I noticed that there is an AuthScope. The host and port would not be suitable for this but maybe the realm would? • In a Maven project, what are reasons for either a nested or a flat directory layout?

  As my Maven project grows, I'm trying to stay on top of the project structure. So far, I have a nested directory layout with 2-3 levels, where there's a POM on each level with module entries corresponding to the directories at that level. POM inheritance (parent property) does not necessarily follow this, and is not relevant for the purpose of this question. Now, while the nested structure seems pretty natural to Maven, and it's nice and clean as long as you are on one particular level, I'm starting to get confused by what I look at in my IDE (Eclipse and IntelliJ IDEA). I had a look at the Apache Felix sources, and they have a pretty complex project in what seems to be a flat directory structure, so I'm wondering if this would be a better way to go. What are some pros and cons for either approach that you have experienced in practice? Note that this question (which I found meanwhile) seems to be very similar. I'll leave it to the community to decide whether this should be closed as a duplicate.

This seems pretty shocking as I would expect that people implementing Javascript in today's modern browsers would be some pretty smart people. I thought of SOLR because: It's got a bunch of tokenizers and performs a lot of NLP. It's pretty use to use out of the box. It's restful distributed app, so it's easy to hook up I've spent some time with it, so using could save me time. Can I use Solr? Although the above reasons are good, I don't know SOLR THAT well, so I need to know if it would be appropriate for my requirements. Ideal Usage Ideally, I'd like to configure SOLR, and then be able to send SOLR some text, and retrieve the indexed tonkenized content. Context So you guys know, I'm working on a small component of a bigger recommendation engine.

  I want to have an AS3 app load images from url supplied by the user. But I don't want a malicious user to be able to load an SWF file in place of the image, such as with an altered extension "maliciousSwf.png". Well, not sure how big a security threat that is above and beyond the ability of the hacker to decompile swf, but I think that ideally such behavior should not be allowed. So, is there any way to prevent this? When people allow users to load images in their Flash apps, do they somehow guard against loading of SWF? Or is this really absolutely no big deal?

  Is there any way to estimate the memory requirement for creating an XpathDocument instance based on the file size of the xml? XpathDocument xdoc = new XpathDocument(xmlfile); Is there any way to programmatically stop the process of creating the XpathDocument if memory drops to a very low level? Since it loads the entire xml into memory, it would be nice to know ahead of time if the xml is too big. What I have found is that when I create a new XpathDocument with a big xml file, an outofmemory exception is never fired, but that the process slows to a crawl, only 5 Mb of memory remains a available and the Task Manager reports it is not responding. This happened with a 266 Mb xml file when there was 584 Mb of ram. I was able to load a 150 Mb file with no problems in 18. After loading the xml, I want to do xpath queries using an XpathNavigator and an XpathNodeIterator. I am using .net 2.0, xp sp3.

• Generator speed in python 3

  Hello all, I am going through a link about generators that someone posted. In the beginning he compares the two functions below. On his setup he showed a speed increase of 5% with the generator. I'm running windows XP, python 3.1.1, and cannot seem to duplicate the results. I keep showing the "old way"(logs1) as being slightly faster when tested with the provided logs and up to 1GB of duplicated data. Can someone help me understand whats happening differently?
