  i recently was working on an ASP.NET MVC site that basically serves static html and uses ajax gets to return data to the page when inputs are changed. there is actually no posting or getting from an html input tag on the pages at all. (it is a specific style of site that is not used by the general public, so having compatibility problems for people without javascript is not an issue) after designing the site, i realised that i hadn't even included any form tags. as the site does not use any direct posts or gets, and apart from it being just good html design, i wondered, in my particular situation, if there was any point to having any form tags on the page?

• Can run Javascript but not jQuery?

  I'm running into a strange problem - I tried running a basic function in JS and jQuery, and while the former worked, the latter didn't. JS - okay alert('Works'); jQuery - not okay $(document).ready({ alert('Works'); }); Here's some facts: My references to the jQuery library are correct (And pretty sure my Internet connection is steady :) I'm using a CDN - CloudFlare to be exact, but I've switched development mode on and Rocket Loader off - so all the code I've uploaded to the server is WYSIWYG (CloudFlare adds some stuff in the tags if you leave Rocket Loader on. I tried running the alert code in the head section, and elsewhere in the body tags, to no avail. What could have possibly gone wrong? I created 3 tables posts, tags and posts_tags. Which videos have: For Title exact phrase will get 0.5 points For Description exact phrase will get 0.4 points For tags exact phrase will get 0.3 points For title all words will get 0.2 points For description all words will get 0.2 points For title one or more words will get 0.1 points For description one or more words will get 0.1 points And I will show these videos on basis of points. What will be the SQL Query for this? A LINQ query will be more better. If you know a better way to achieve this, please help.

• How to handle Many-To-Many In Grails without belongsTo?

  I need to create a many-to-many relationship in Grails. I have a "Question" domain and a "Tag" domain. A Question can have 0 or more tags. A Tag can have 0 or more Questions. If I put a "hasMany" on each sides, it gives me an error saying I need a "belongTo" somewhere. However, adding a belongsTo means that the owner must exist... Like I said, a Tag could have 0 questions, and a Question could have 0 tags. There is no concept of an owner, it's a many-to-many! What am I supposed to do?

I know that the api reference has xml attributes listed for many of the classes... but what about xml tags? Where is it documented that I could build a shape using , , tags? I'd really like to know where I can find such documentation.

  I have a table, tblTags which works in much the same way as StackOverflows tagging system. When I view a tags page, let's say the tag Tutorial I want to display the 10 tags before and after it in alphabetical order. So if we are given the tag Tutorial of ID 30 how can we return a record set in the order resembling: Tap Tart > Tutorial Umbrellas Unicorns Xylaphones I have thought of ways of doing this, badly, in my opinion as they involve retrieving ugly amounts of data. I'm not sure if it's possible to do something along the lines of (pseudo): SELECT RANGE(0 - 30) FROM tblTags ORDER BY Name ASC But how do you know the position of the tutorial tag in the list in an efficient manner without traversing the entire list until you find it? I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 Express with LINQ if it makes any difference, SQL queries or LINQ would be great answers, thanks!

• Setting up separate ctags db's for C/C++ standard libs, boost, and third party libs

  I want to set up separate ctags databases for various libraries in /usr/include/ for use with OmniCppComplete. The idea is to be able to pull in only the libraries needed for a particular project in the target language - C or C++. For example, I'd like to have one database for the standard C libraries, one for system libraries that might be used by either C or C++ programs ( sockets / networking comes to mind ) one for the standard C++ libs / STL / Boost, and then other databases for various third party libraries such as QT or glib. Then I could pull something in simply by typing set tags+= ~/.vim/somelib.tags in vim. I assume that everything related to the C++ stdlib and STL are in the /usr/include/c++ and that Boost is all in /usr/include/boost. Unfortunately it seems that the standard C libs and system libs are just kind of dumped directly into /usr/include/ with a variety of other stuff. How can I get a list of which files and directories belong to which libs? I'm on Ubuntu 8.04.

  OKay I am at loss how to name this question. I have some HTML files, probably written by lord Lucifier himself, that I need to parse. It consists of many segments like this, among other html tags <p>HeadingNumber</p> <p style="text-indent:number;margin-top:neg_num ">Heading Text</p> <p>Body</p> Notice that the heading number and text are in seperate p tags, aligned in a horizontal line by css. the css may be whatever Lucifier fancies, a mixture of indents, paddings, margins and positions. However that line is a single object in my business model and should be kept as such. So How do I detect whether two p elements are visually in a single line and process them accordingly. I believe the HTML files are well formed if it helps.

• Performance problems when loading local JSON via <script> elements in IE8

  I have a web page with some JS scripts that needs to work locally, e.g. from hard disk or a CD-ROM. The scripts load JSON data from files by inserting <script> tags. This worked fine in IE6, but now in IE8 it takes an enormous amount of time: it went from "instantly" to 3-10 seconds. The main data file is 45KB large. How can I solve this? I would switch from <script> tags to another method of loading JSON (ideally involving the new native JSON parser), but it seems locally loaded content cannot access the XMLHttpRequest object. Any ideas?

I would like to take the following Java String from the bean String statusMsg = "Hello World! <br/><br/><h3>Test</h3>" And output it with the HTML tags not escaped. <s:property escapeHtml="false" value="bean.statusMsg" The result of this property Tag and String, is that the HTML tags are still being escaped, am I missing something? My goal is to eventually build a table of status data and output it on the page is this the wrong way to use the property tag? Thank you in advance for your help.

  I am trying to add an entity to the DB. Once I have added it, I want to detach it, so I can manipulate the object safely without making any changes to the DB. After calling context.SaveChanges() I do the following to detach the entity: // save context.Stories.Add(story); // attach tags. They already exists in the database foreach(var tag in story.Tags) context.Entry(tag).State = System.Data.EntityState.Unchanged; context.SaveChanges(); context.Entry(story).State = System.Data.EntityState.Detached; However, changing the entity state to DETACHED will remove all related entities associated with the my entity. Is there a way to stop this ? If I don't detach the entity, all my changes are sent to the DB next time I call context.SaveChanges() Thanks!!

  I am testing my noscript tags which display content when javascript is disabled, this works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Camino, IE6, IE7, IE8, IE9, basically everything but Opera (I'm running version 11, not sure if its isolated to that version). In Opera 11 nothing is displayed... is the noscript tag not supported? and what is the alternative? • Having trouble reading XML file from Windows server. Works on Linux

  I'm parsing an XML file in an android app. My success varies depending upon where the file is hosted. After hosting the file on 4 different servers (2 Linux, 2 Windows), I discovered that when the xml is hosted on a Linux server, the app works. When it's hosted on a Windows server, I am unable to parse correctly. Instead of reading the expected xml tags, it reads HTML tags (, , , etc). I'm not sure why it doesn't work on Windows servers, or if that is even the issue and not just a coincidence. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. • Model's method not being recognized when called

  I'm using ruby on rails 2.3.2 and also using the acts_as_taggable_on puglin. That generated me two db tables: tags and taggings. As I didn't need anything more from those, I didn't create a Tag model, for example. Now the project is more mature, I need to create some methods for tags, so I created a Tag model with some methods in it. The model looks something like this: class Tag < ActiveRecord::Base def self.get_parent parent = Tag.find(self.parent_id) return parent end end When I call it from a controller, it won't find the method. This is the code: tag = Tag.find(tag_id) the_parent = tag.get_parent This will throw an error saying: undefined method `get_parent' for #<Tag id: 13, name: "Historia", parent_id: 12> I don't know what's wrong.   I want to give default value to a textarea. The code is something like this: <textarea>{{userSetting.list | join:"NEWLINE"}}</textarea> where userSetting.list is a string list, each item of whom is expected to show in one line. textarea takes the content between the tags as the default value, preserving its line breaks and not interpreting any HTML tags (which means <br>,\n won't work). I have found a solution: {{userSetting.list | join:" " | wordwrap:0}} (there is no whitespace in the list). But obviously it is NOT a good one. Any help would be appreciated.
